Ariel, you are essentially turning your home into what I make my Animal Crossing house look like and it is ✨everything✨
omg this is the greatest compliment i have ever received hhahaha
I think the hole is for venting to distribute the heat.
While watching this my husband said "These women who do all these renovations are just playing real life animal crossing
When I grow up, I want to live in Ariel's house (or get her to design mine lol)
hahahaha this made me laugh
SO TRUE
I feel like everything has just been building up to the eventual kitchen makeover and i'm so excited because that will be an epic before and after
Your floors are beautiful! Where is it written that once a carpet goes down it has to stay down? As a compromise, maybe you put the rug down in the colder months and remove it in the warmer months!!
Liz Marin good idea😊
So true, I was just going to share the same suggestion. Also, the center inlay looks so good that it needs time to be the center of attention (pun intended)!
Great idea!
I do the same! And a bonus is that the rug gets a good cleaning once a year.
I absolutely adore the chairs and the contrast between their cottage-core feel and the regency-style room, absolute chef's kiss
Me too!!!
You are, hands down, my absolute favorite renovation series I've ever seen. Your eye for home styling is SO beautiful and I loooove the colors you choose in a world where most people just paint things white.
I make stained glass and I think you have such a good idea for the hole in your wall! You could pick something with the same yellow and pink, or go with seasonal pieces and rotate them each season! You can let the piece hang or you could use cute little corners one!
-From Quebec!
omg I have been wanting to learn to make stained glass but classes here are expensive. I think you have a good idea there.
@@itxy4283 you should check here on youtube and maybe look for someone near you who masters the craft, that’s what I did and never had to pay for a class!
PS: I would be glad to make something for Ariel with the right dimensions and a po box to ship it!
green would also match the courtains ;)
pink with some green and gold specs would look really pretty
I'm not a fan of the bigger stained glass windows but I love the idea of little stained glass pieces in the corners of windows all over the house!
You really have a talent for this! When I try and decorate a space i buy like 3 mismatching items and panic immediately. Could you maybe do a video on your "process" like where you get inspirations, how you brainstorm ideas for rooms, what you try and keep in mind etc?
Yes! A process video would be immensely valuable.
+
Yes!!! This!!!
Lololol pls get out of my brain!!! This is exactly how I feel about painting my current house.
+
No carpet. It will cover that beautiful design you did in your floor. It all looks beautiful.
Yes, that is the most awesome feature.
Agreed. It would be a shame. Also, the chairs look great with the room- if you want to dress up the room, you can always go for beautiful table linens, maybe a vintage silver vase and you can always decorate the chairs with a little garland/bow etc.
I love the chairs, I think they look beautiful in the space - like the perfect marriage between Austen and Anne of Green Gables !
replacing the normal vent with a fancy vent is such a nice little detail!!
I wonder if your local library possibly has the original construction drawings or zoning for your house? You could see what the original intent of the house was and how you’re kind of bringing that spirit back into it! (And find out if that mini window was a later addition)
That’s a great idea! In a town I used to live in, (many years ago) someone wrote about the town “and vicinity” in a book and documented all the houses from when the town was originally built, who built them, and when, and they had a copy in the library. Only reason I discovered it was because an elderly lady I worked for had a copy and I saw it and asked her about it. It was so cool! I’m sure every town doesn’t have something like that, but it doesn’t hurt to check and ask at the library. They might also have old newspaper articles and there could be pictures of the house. I mentioned recently to Ariel that the town hall might have info.
Also, in the deed record of the house it should list all the previous owners. And if she does a google search on some of the names, she might find some relatives that still live in the area and they also may have pictures of the house and also might know some of the history! It’s so exciting! It’s like solving a mystery!!! 😁😊
Your house is becoming more beautiful and full of character each video you make. Congratulations for all the hard work! I know from experience that it's very tiring to renovate anything without professional help, but it's so much more worth it. You appreciate every detail.
Keep up the good work!
Love your videos!
My gosh! Also! Max headbutting the microphone and purring was so cute!! What a good boy!
I believe Max is actually a female, if I'm not mistaken!
to me max always looks very confused but happy
also the violin music made this so cozy i got chills and started to tear up, the vibe is so warm
Your house is really turning into this unique giant piece of art and we get to witness the entire creative process, it's fascinating!!
I love how the green of the hallway gets carried over into the dining room with the curtains! It really helps with the flow and somehow the "Emma" vibes 🥰
Your house is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I want to have tea and biscuits in that dining room ! I love how you're always very confident in what you do, your ideas can seem very bold to others, beautiful on paper but very tricky to replicate in real life and yet you always succeed at it !
Ariel, I am an English graduate student living in a major city with pastoral dreams.. words cannot describe how specifically perfect your content is for me… obsessed
When you're done this house, I hope you will invite the real estate agent in for a tour (and film it of course). What you've done is amazing. The place was a wreck and you've breathed new life into it, creating something truly special.
As usual, you did an incredible job. Your house looks so cozy with so much character. When you said stained glass my immediate response was "YES DO IT!". I cannot wait to see the next room.
A few things:
1. This room is gorgeous. You did an amazing job.
2. I love those chairs. If it was my home, I'd keep them. Beautiful etching in solid wood chairs *chef's kiss*
3. That sideboard is super groovy.
4. I was going to recommend stained glass for that little window so I'm glad you got there first.
5. I am firmly in the "no rug in dining room" camp and those floors are stunning, you should show them off.
I think that's all. What a spectacular room. Each room in your beautiful house just gets better and better. I can't wait for the kitchen.
@Ariel Bissett Max is like my cat Pippi... Comes in at the end of the video, then Immediately hop out of our arms 😂🐱 😂🐱
I love the colour of the Emma Room as I call it, and now that it serves its original purpose - as a Dining room - its looks even better. The trim moulding definitely makes it so much more like the Emma Room. I would choose to NOT put a carpet down - but as one comment did mention - perhaps you can have rugs down for the winter and then roll them up and remove them for the spring and summer months. Wooden floors are so much easier to clean!!
I have a suggestion...maybe 2... 1) In the winter, there is nothing more cozy than an area rug under the table, so when you dress your house for Christmas dress your dining room up with your carpet. THEN, in the tradition of having your cake and eating it too, roll up your carpet the weekend before Memorial Day and leave tour floor cool and bare for the entire summer! 2) I think the table looks proportionally top heavy with the legs. First, I would build and attach a table skirt (basically a 4-sided box) to "beef up the table", then look to Jane Austin for furniture leg styles.
Best of both worlds with that carpet idea!
Brilliant suggestions
That room will HOLD you, and you will want to stay in it. Exactly what a beautiful room does. Enjoy your dining room as much as I enjoy mine.
I love how your dad is down for whatever ideas you have (and your mom too). Wow wow wow. This is incredible. I’m obsessed
I immediately thought "summer, sunny, mediterranean" because of the warm yellow, the calm pink and the joyful details. It's probably not what we call mediterranean haha, but the whole thing is truly magical, it is my favourite room so far, I love everything about it!
I also noticed the chairs, I get that it might not be the vibe you're going for, but I personally love them.
This honestly might be my most favorite room YET. They've all been so beautiful but I dunno something about this one. With the table and chairs and the FLOORS my god. That wainscotting is incredible too. Just. This room is amazing.
Thank you for sharing it with us, for sharing your entire home reno with us. I love seeing these videos from you. It's so inspiring, I cannot wait to one day have my own home and learn things the way you are and make the space entirely my own.
Stunning. It'll be such a joy to eat meals in that room!!
Rug idea: go rug free during warm months and use the rug in cooler months to help retain heat. That is all.
it must be such a joy to wake up in this house everyday
My fave people are uploading today! Couldn’t be happier! ❤😅 Also Congrats on 300k!
okay this is AMAZING, your house is feeding my home ownership DREAMS! (also, as a maritimer whose parents put stained glass in the window to catch the light, i can guarantee it's an excellent decision)
I put this on "in the background" while I got ready in the morning and got so engrossed that I'm still in my PJs! Thank you for inviting us into your home for these cozy moments, they're like a spa day for the brain. Also, I can't wait to see what stained glass treasure you find for that window in the wall!
You have quickly become my favorite reno channel...Your are so cute and quirky and sweet
Ariel, the room is just lovely!!! Can't wait to watch this video a second time later with my mum (she loves this series)!
Omg say hi for me! I love it when people watch my videos with their moms haha ♥️♥️
@@ArielBissett I absolutely will! Also we both laughed so hard when you said you named your house Agnes, cause that's my sister's name :D
Ariel, the dining room feels so right!! It was gorgeous when it was a living room, but for some reason having the dining furniture in there makes the house come alive! I think the stained glass window will look GORGEOUS :)
An ordinary person does not live in this fabulous house. Very good job!
Ariel, it’s YOUR home and you can do whatever you like! And you seem so happy whenever you make decisions based on what you like - so don’t put too much stock in what other people might say about it. You’re the one living there! I think your whole house is so unique and I can tell how much love and care you put into it and it’s always so fun watching these videos!
Hi Ariel! I hope you and your home are all safe and sound after the hurricane! Let us know!
First and foremost, this transformation was magic. I thought it looked good before during the "living room" mode but this is amazing!! And second, I appreciate your narration so much -- I felt your agony when you were finishing your floors.
"It's so beautiful," says Ariel, with such joy and love, that those hearing her are, too, filled with joy and love.
Ariel when I tell you I GASPED at the BEAUTY of the reveal! I also think the table and chairs are *perfect* for the space, the floor looks absolutely stunning and I can’t wait for the stained glass! These videos honestly make me so happy - it gives me that same feeling of looking at a patchwork quilt and having sentimental memories of each individual piece of fabric - that’s how I feel about each feature in your house! Even though you’re doing all the work, it’s like we’re on a journey together and it’s SO satisfying to see every new instalment.
If it’s the same concept as here in England, the little window will be a food hatch. It was a phenomenon in the 60s where people wanted to be able to pass a plate of food from the kitchen right to the dining room! A lot of people board them up here now, but I think turning it into a window is a gorgeous and unique idea!
Food hatches were common here too but this one is definitely too high. I think Ariel's thought of a heat transfer is spot on. Especially in an uninsulated 1860's Canadian home.
@@beverlyjjohnston6207 second this thought, too high for food transfer but absolutely for heat transfer.
I know i'm one day late, but still wanted to say that I appreciate the amount of effort you put into these videos! I love how every room is turning out, and specifically with this dining room, I love it! I feel it has reached its full potential, it looks elevated and elegant and still has a lot of personality. It simply clicked for me!
This is my dream, having a house where every corner feels loved and well thought out. You are an inspiration
Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. You do what makes you happy in your own home. Love the floors!
Before you even said that the room from Emma was your inspiration, I already recognized the color scheme and styling from the film. That speaks to what an excellent job you did
I normally don't comment on these videos but I've watched all of them of your house fix up and my gosh all these rooms are so stunning. A few of them I go in skeptical as you explain but seeing the finished project is always so beautiful it brings me to tears. There is so much personality and color and culture in these rooms and each space has its own story to tell. I would love to visit and see it in person but for now I will happily keep looking on as this home gets better and better. I can't tell you how much I just adore these rooms! Please keep posting your updates! They are so exciting to see how you turn that old house into something living and thriving again!
Your parents must love the house too. It is so nice you live with them. You are lucky!
Didn't know I could love this room more but it feels so right as a dining room
Your dining room doesn't need carpet, does it? Those floors are sooo beautiful!
The Emma vibes in this room have truly been enhanced!!
It would be a shame to cover that beautiful wood floor with a rug. You and your Mom and Dad are doing an amazing job remodeling the house. I am excited to see what you do next. You are so smart and talented, I bet you could design and make your own stained glass window.
The bliss you expressed in showing off your beautiful home is heart warming. I’m so happy you are achieving your dream surrounding by loved ones 💕
The dining room turned out so lovely!! 😍 I think that little window was probably a serving window so someone from the kitchen could hand food to a server through it into the dining room
Ariel you are literally living my dream life rn I'm obsessed with the way you're transforming your house to become a home. everything is falling into place and I love that you have taken us along with you on this journey xx
That shot with Emma 2020 playing in the background is gold.
"I'll see you guys in the next room" is a really cute outro
Im guessing that that little window’s function could be to pass dishes from the kitchen directly into the dining room, if that room already had that function :)
yeah I thought that too, like a service hatch. It's kind of high up though, very mysterious!
Usually pass-through windows are much lower, dishes would tip etc, it would not be safe. I think she might be correct about the heat and air circulation. I lived in an old house that had a pass-through window, it was buffet height and the dining room side had built in drawers for linens and cupboard doors for serving dishes and platters,.
Ariel I hope you and your fam are safe from Hurricane Fiona!! Yikes!! 🙏
I've never been so in love with a process or a houseeeeee
I couldn't live in this house. Is too much of everything, BUT.... You are so smart, clever, hardworker, poetic, fun, intelligent, daring, gifted, creative, inspired.... that i cant absolutely not see what's coming next.
It's like an unfolding peace of art every new video, that is coming out of your head to reality. JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to see you creativity blossom.
It’s been such a joy to see not only your house become more complete but your reno skills also increase over the years. I’m excited to see you grow and learn more in the next rooms
Ariel, I have LOVED watching your entire house series and I especially love how attainable your approach to it has been. When you were talking about your dining chairs, it reminded me of how in my house I also have a thrifted dining table setup I don't love, but it's a great functional table that doesn't stand out too much. Like you said, I'd rather wait to have the budget and to find something that I really love instead of replacing it with something that's lower quality and/or cheaper in the meantime.
you could totally add a mural or a mosaic of a fire in the fake fireplace spot! or even a stained glass fire to match your little window!
Those chairs are the exact set design I grew up with... what a throwback for me
It's like.. Jane Austen and everyone's grandma had a dining room. Love it.
At 16:31 the light makes it look like there's a bright turquoise trim around the inside of the pink door frame and it looks SO GOOD
seeing you and your family work on these projects together is always so lovely
Watching Ariel fixing her old house is oddly calming and wonderful. :)
I am so impressed at your vision! I wasn’t a huge fan of the room as a living room but as a dining room it is incredible! I can’t believe that you could see in your mind what it would look like down the road. You are so talented!
That was exactly my thought also.
You are so impressive! I've been watching since you brought the house and while some of the design choices you've made aren't my person taste (which is neither here nor there), your enthusiasm is contagious. I love that you are making that house yours, and it's so lovely to see how happy completing projects makes you. Just know your happiness is making others happy too, and I cannot wait to see what else you'll do to it as time goes by.
I want to CRY at how gorgeous this room is. And the chairs are stunning. I love all of it!
Omg Max's tail in the last seconds of the video was just the cherry on top
The transformations of this room have been incredible. Following you on this journey has been such a pleasure - thank you for filming it and bringing us along through the process! One note about your chairs - I don't know if you ever watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch show from the 90's, but they had those chairs at their kitchen table, but they were painted red. Not that I think you need red chairs in that space, but you might consider green or pink to coordinate with the room.
What I'm visualizing is what Bubbie's chairs looked like before my Mom took them to the cold dip guy. The scroll work had two greens, and in a few places a pale pink, but the rest was the original wood. There is a style of table legs that would match the chairs. I think they are perfect there!
When you panned down at 12:05 I was in awe!!! I think the chairs and the dark wood bring back the cozy/ cottage vibes I remember from your sims kitchen plan that you were going for, so I wouldn’t race to replace them. Tell your Dad he did a great job on the floor design!
Ariel, if you don’t find stained glass to repurpose there are no doubts in my mind after seeing all you’ve acomplished in your House that you’d design and DIY craft a beautiful stained glass window pane all by youself, as Miss Woodhouse would notice, you indeed are talent in itself !
I'm so impressed, most people just live in thier house, you put your heart and soul in.
I cannot express to you how much absolutely love this series. I watch a few different channels with similar content but I am can honestly say that your house renovation is the only content that I consistently rewatch. I mean I'll just put on the playlist from the beginning and rewatch everything. I love it so much! I know that it'll be a long time from now but I hope you share the journey of making your walking trail and your master bedroom. I'm so excited to see. You're literally living one of my dreams and I love that for you so much 😁😁😁
I love the chairs! Wow, another fantastic renovation video - thank you so much for sharing your house projects. ❤ Your house is just becoming more and more beautiful. I absolutely love the bold color choices and thrifted, vintage furniture. What a delight to see each room come to life again! Stunning work - can't wait for the next video!
I love love love this iteration of this room!!! The moulding on the walls looks incredible!!!! And, I 100% agree that the floor, especially the funky design your dad made, needs to be displayed in all its glory!!!
I am so in love with your approach to design. Has to put the "FUN" in functional! I think the best part of your style is that it's timeless, but it doesn't feel sterile or trendy. It's just SO lovely.
Ariel, your enthusiasm and passion is contagious and uplifting. Best of luck on making your house into your home !
This is so gorgeous! 😍 I kind of want to see how the rest of the house flows with this room because it all seems like it brings you through a journey, of colors and bold ideas and I love it. I need a house tour! I actually think the table and chairs work very well in the room.
Ahhh just getting to watch you create a space that reflects you makes me so happy!!! 🧡
As always, I am LOVING these renovation/decoration videos. Your excitement for the finished product makes me so happy! I can't wait to see what you fix up next!
Window is for air ventilation, (cross-ventilation)...I wouldn't compromise the function if I were you.
Ariel, I hope you are ok in this storm! IDK how close you are to it, but was thinking of you. 🙃
I've grown to really love these yellow walls, and the trim you put up elevated the room even more! I'm excited to see the next project in your house! 💖
Do I give Ariel’s home videos a like before I watch them? Yes, but that’s couse always love them, so I’m just saving myself some time ❤
you make me want to renovate a house so much. this room is absolutely breathtaking, you did such a good job!!
The stain glass window is a fantastic idea. It may look better if you hang it on the kitchen side so that you can use it as a glass wall that would light up the vase or whatever you finally decide to place in the pocket side of the dining room. BTW. I made my own stain glass window and it was fun and easy.
i love your decor style! i love watching house reno projects, but oftentimes it's hard to find something that *speaks* to me, bc lately it's been really trendy to make your house very beige and like from an ikea catalogue (nothing wrong with that, i just find it super boring to watch), while your house is so colorful and whimsical, it's really beautiful! you earned a subscriber!
Seasonal stained glass pieces would be beautiful in the pass through opening! Also, the floor is beautiful, don't hide it with a rug right now. Perhaps someday if you want to make the room ultra formal, but right now it is perfectly you!
It’s so beautiful! And the floor design is fabulous.
Stained Glass would be beautiful! Is the window a pass through for food from kitchen to dining room while not making kitchen visible while sitting to eat? Just a thought.
I have so many things to say that I'm going to number them:
1. This video made me a little emotional?
2. I'm not normally a big fan of the color yellow and this room makes me understand why people think it's cheery because it's so cute and bright and happy!
3. The chairs look like they're from a rich English person's country house
4. There are vinyl rugs if anyone's looking for something rug-like that's easier to clean
5. A stained glass window inside your house!! 💜
6. Yay for cat content!
Isn't it ruggable? They are washable!
I miss when homes were built like this!
I was just refreshing youtube to find a video to watch while I eat breakfast and start my day and this popped up! What a lovely surprise :)
