I laughed when you said people hated paint and trim colors you picked out for your other rooms. Why do they care? Like your house isn’t my style either but it’s so whimsical and warm… and it expresses your personality perfectly! Keep doing you!
"People are gonna hate the colours" Well they can mind their own business! I am not personally fond of any of these colours but no one can deny that this room is stunning! I am so inspired by these videos
I love that you're unapologetically using so much pink in your house. Pink is a lovely, happy color, there's no reason you shouldn't use it if it brings you joy.😊
I love this series and the style you've gone with for the house so much! And I never thought I'd be so invested in someone else's couch dreams but when I saw that green couch in your living room I was SO HAPPY FOR YOU 😭
Minimalism really had a grip on people in the last decade, didn't it? I grew up with a dad who only wanted white walls in the house (and worse, the stark cold white) and frankly, hated it. Once I moved in with my husband, I got the freedom to choose wall colors of two rooms, and I went for orange/gray accents and green/gray accents. Each room in the house is a different color/gray and the furniture wood shade is also varied room to room (dark gray, sonoma, etc). This way each room has a personality but still matches as a unit.
I have the same couch in blue -- be careful about keeping it in front of a window though. the velvet will fade! an option is to have a blanket over the area that gets the most sun exposure. But just wanted to pass that along! Love how the room turned out.
There are also UV protection sprays suitable for fabric. I think even good old scotchguard makes one. Although always do a hidden test patch. Especially with velvets.
I really love how passionate you are about decorating the room. I like the bold colors. In my opinion some people take themselves way to seriously to enjoy some color. Life is to short to try and cultivate some "serious" "respectable" aesthetic, when you should just decorate in a way that makes you happy.
I've seen a lot of home makeover videos and most of them are very "on trend" style wise, like stuff you'd see in a catalog or on pinterest. And that makes me enjoy your videos a hundred times more, because you're not doing the same things I see everywhere else! Your style choices are so genuinely you, not made for other people, you're not toning things down to be palatable for others - and I love that. Your videos have this confident, creative, self-loving vibe that I find very inspiring. Keep doing your own thing.
Yes, I totally agree. It's not necessarily what I personally would choose for my home, but I'm so, so tired of seeing super trendy boho blogger beige interiors. Edit: except for that green couch. I need that couch
It's so refreshing to see a makeover that is completely unique. Although I love the muted aesthetic that is trendy right now I truly appreciate unique designs. This turned out absolutely beautiful.
Yeah, I look forward to them. I’d be happy with weekly updates, even if they’re only for some small things. I’d like to see her fix her landscape, but winter is on its way again so maybe next year. Hopefully she tears out the beaver dam at least to fix the flooding issue.
This woman is living my dream. So much hard work, but the satisfaction she must feel for every project completedmust be surreal. Also, I love how she said that she’s making her home a place that she loves, not for some hypothetical future buyer. Too many people fall into the trap of doing things to increase market value, instead of for their own love of it. I really hope to go home to the Maritimes some day and retire in an old Victorian era house. Hey, does anyone know if that show is any good? It looks fantastic from the clips she showed, but I’m a man in his 30’s so would it be too girly? I do love time pieces though, Anne with an E is one of my favourites, lol I Gotta watch more Vikings now to maintain my masculinity lol
Just imagine how many male-centred movies and series that all of us women and girls have watched, and suck it up and watch Anne with an E. Enjoy it for what it is. After that, find the original Anne of Green Gables and then finish it off with some Handmaid’s Tale too.
yes Emma is so good, very fun (and beautiful) to watch. it's a film adaptation not a TV show so not too much of a commitment, give it a shot! (I love Anne with an E too)
‘Emma’ is a movie adaptation! My entire family thought the movie was clever and funny (and beautifully shot!) - even my dad, who leans more towards Jack Ryan than Jane Austen.
I love that you're fitting this house to what you love. Love that you're making it so genuinely yours, taking inspiration from things you love and incorporating them in whatever way you can and want. The room looks like its going to be a part of the house that make it feel like a home. And it looks especially at the very end so beautiful, im sure it looks even better in reality. So happy for you 💕💕
I always associated these 'crazy' colour schemes with people who had the time and money to spare (like the Woodhouses lol) until you started this series. you make it look so achievable! I mean obviously it's not easy work but if you want it you go for it. almost brings a tear to my eye :'-) thank you for setting such a lovely example
So I have been going through a quarter life crisis and I think this series has cured me! Now I am so excited for the next phase of life when I will buy a house and slowly build it into a home I truly love. Thank you, Ariel for being so inspiring
Honestly could not be happier that you received a couch from Article. That company is wonderful and I cannot wait until I can afford that very same green couch which is on my list of couches to buy as soon as I save up enough. Again, so happy for you. You deserve it!!!
That mirror is sooo perfect for the room! Everything about this room has so much character, and I love how you're creating the house of your dreams so unapologetically ♥
The room is absolutely gorgeous!! That Article couch is fantastic and looks perfect in that room. I agreed with so many of your choices, and especially changing out the curtains. Your colour choices are so soothing and beautiful. Jane Austen was always one of my favourite authors when I was your age and in junior and high school. I can’t wait to see the entire foyer as I appreciated that little view of it in the doorway of your living room.
This video came out a week ago and I'm still watching it over and over again. Thank you for taking the time to document your renovation process! I've been in a creative slump, but your renovation series inspire me to be bold in my creativity!! Love from Tennessee!
"It's called THE DREAM!" Ariel watching this series has been like a dream for me 😭 Every room is so unique and so on brand for you it kills me. I'm saving to buy my own house and your videos have given me so much inspiration! It's wonderful to see you looking so happy in your own space. Sending many comfy and cozy vibes your way 💕
"It's called the dream!" Oh my I can't express how happy I am to see how far you have come with this house! I've been watching you for so many years, and this room is so perfect it's the excellence that you deserve! If only you weren't making me want to run away from life and buy an old house in the woods...
I remember watching the first “Stewart Little” and “Nanny McPhee” movies and loving the colors and patterns in their homes. So I 100% understand you wanting what you saw in the movie. It’s your home so have fun with it. Love where you live! Great job!❤️
I honestly just enjoy watching you create a space for yourself in these videos, could not care less about if its my aesthetic or if i like the colors or not. You being excited about stuff makes me excited! Plus i feel like im learning a little bit about how if i ever have my own space to create how i would go about it.
"IT'S CALLED THE DREAM!" indeed Ariel, indeed. As an Austen fan myself, and everything else historical period pieced, I truly enjoyed this transformation. Emma was a great film and you did it justice.
offf courseeee you can also play piano beautifully! OF COURSE! genuinly incredbly happy for you that you love this room so much, you did a wonderful job with it
1. I am SO happy that you got the couch you wanted and even had more time to work more on the details in the room 2. I absolutelyy love each of the colors you used and the way they fit so well together!! 3. I have been talking about your house restoration process with my mom and it's so cool to see you working so hard on it 4. also wtf you play the piano?? and sooo well??? i loved the finishing pose wow I'm impressed
I love your house! Color and texture and fun details- it makes it all feel like a real home where real people live. Im always bummed when I see whole houses of just white and neutrals and everything is so perfect and clean. I can appreciate it, but I’d never feel comfortable stepping foot in there. Your house looks like exactly the kind of place I’d book for a cozy weekend!
You're really inspiring me to have more colour in my living space, it looks so good! I'll have to admit i like even more after the finishing touches, i did think the original curtains clashed a bit lol
For the record I adore your pink floors. They opened my mind to new things and they make me happy every time you show them. And ur purple trim and blue mantle reminds me of pbs kids but in the best way possible??? Subtle Arthur vibes? Ur house in general just feels like an expression and extension of you. It’s what you love. It’s a little bit of writer cabin a little bit of frida, a lot of artistry and coloring outside of the lines and yet it always comes together beautifully, just like this living room! If your home is where you live it should reflect what u love!!! It’s ur nest not a box u show off to others in the hopes of being least offensive to their tastes! HUZZAH FOR HOMES!!
This room turned out INCREDIBLE!! I love it so much. That period, vintage inspired colorful aesthetic is exactly what I'm going for in my old house too! I can't wait to do some projects like this!
You play the piano?!!!! Beautifully too!! LOOOOOVE this video. So enjoy watching you reno your house. You're adorable! You're right, couch is perfect in the space. Really like it.
haha thanks! I decided a looooong time ago to not make videos about my piano playing because i wanted to keep at least ONE hobby offline, but i thought it would be fun to have it in here :)
I absolutely ADORE how you renovated the living room! Love the pink and yellow, love the couches (the green one is amazing but I'm obsessed with the pink one, that's my dream couch) and the Frida corner, and that mirror is absolutely beautiful. Everything is wonderful and I'm so happy that you were able to realize your project as you wanted it to be!
1) GORGEOUS. Unmatched, incredible, so stylish but so personal and homely. 2) I'm so impressed every time you post a house video with how capable and competent you are. DIY queen.
I love the color combinations! It’s not a huge room so you have to make the best choices for livability. A piano means no seating for TV viewing for the whole family. So the second couch makes sense, even if it’s blocking the faux fireplace. What a cozy retreat! When you’re not watching a show on TV, you can play one of those fireplace screen savers & pretend!
Once again, BEAUTIFUL work designing this room. I love that even though the Article sofa is new and luxurious, it doesn't seem out of place with all your preloved decor and furniture! The pieces look like they were made for each other. All of your renovation videos are so inspiring. I moved from my new construction white and grey house to a house from the 1980s that needs work. Because of your videos I decided to have some fun with this place and add some color! I painted the lower cabinets in my kitchen a bright blue and am prepping to paint my master bathroom a rich sage and pale mauvey-pink!
i've admired your aesthetic for so long - you radiate so much warmth and brightness! - and it's incredible to see that in the form of a house! all of the parts we have seen so far are so unique and welcoming
Im in love with every single room youve done. I recently painted my bathroom bubblegum pink. Im so obsessed with a colourful busy space. It doesnt have to be all white all the time. Colour is everything in a space
I wouldn’t have been able to resist looking behind the boarded up fireplace. Love the colours. Reminds me of a chewy sweet/candy we have in the UK called Fruit Salad.❤️
I love love love your wall colors. I just moved into a 70s house and I feel like it needs colors but I’m too scared to go for it but this is giving me that push. Also that is my dream couch as well I couldn’t help but smile when I saw how happy it made you to get it !
You're bold in your choices of color and I love that. It's so unique, interesting and always turns out so beautiful! I prefer it much calmer because a lot of color just drives me nuts eventually in my own home. But it doesn't change the fact, that I really love your style! I can't wait to see everything when it's finished.
Oh Ariel, how wonderful... I love how you just totally follow what makes you happy in designing every room in your house. So happy for you and so happy that we get to come along on this renovation journey with you!
I seriously love the corner of the wall with the plant the checker board. It's just so pleasing to the eye. The yellow wall with green sofa is so cozy!
Hon, your color choices are your own! It has been a joy to see you buy your own home, and it is a joy watching you decorate it to your tastes and making it your own. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey!
I love the colors you choose for rooms. Also, I want to extend a thank you for being part of my motivation in buying my own cheap house! Its not as much of a fixer upper as yours... except for the fact the previous owner removed all the bedroom doors?? but I am painting and suffering now too!
i'm enjoying the videos about your house SO MUCH! i absolutely adore your choice of colour, especially because i would have never thought about all the pairings you've chosen so far, they're very original and not at all what you normally see in most renovated houses. you are also amazing at styling and finding thrifted pieces that make the room look very cosy, it's SO inspiring. i can't wait to see all your other projects, good luck!
I love the warmth and coziness of the colours you chose and I like that you didn't settle for the original layout you had. The effort and thought you put in your room really shows!
I'm honestly looking forward to the horror room in your house that you decided to eventually turn into your bedroom.that is going to be a massive transformation, very exciting💃
I'm excited to see what she does with the exterior of the house color wise. She's mentioned she loves colorful exteriors I think and she obviously loves color inside so I'm super curious. Especially as someone who also loves a lot of color.
Great job! Been following your house journey for a while now. I am 3 years into restoring an 1880s farmhouse in Indiana. It's in similar condition as yours, the 60s, 70s, and 80s galore! Isn't it great starting a new room after you've already finished others? You're more and more experienced after every room you complete... and know how to get things done more efficiently! Looks like you're learning a lot - same here. Keep up the great work and thanks for breathing life back into a beautiful home.
Coeur de Pirate! Ariel, that was beautiful. I'm often skeptical when you're presenting your ideas, but I'm proven wrong time after time; everything just looks amazing. You're truly an artist.
I literally bought the smaller green article couch after I saw it in your first video, so you totally earned this sponsorship! I’m sure I wasn’t the only one!
So happy to see someone on You Tube painting their rooms with something other than white. You stayed true to yourself and didn't follow trends. Great job. Your excitement is contagious.
I love how you, as a literature buff, couldn’t remember what a bell jar is. ❤️ But then again, the things closest to us can often be the easiest to forget!
i found your channel yesterday. I came for the books, but... Im stalking all your house renovation vids. This is so cute! the fact that you did this with thrifted items is crazy. Such a unique room, i just love it...
Oh my God you killed it it looks so gorgeous you did amazing I absolutely love it and that couch since it was made has been my obsession I have a goal to own that too I literally cried when I just seen that you got it I am so excited for you and I would love to sit in that room it looks so inviting and comfy and perfect. You rocked it I am so proud of you.
what!?!?! people didn't like the purple and blue of your room?? I love everything about your house, it's so original and cozy, I think everything looks extremely pretty.
with the yellow and rose shades the room very much reminds me of the Villa Villekulla from Pippi Longstocking - a perfect vibe, that is. I would love to one day have similar styles in my own home :) wishing you all of the comfy evenings!
I LOVE the pink! As someone who is still living in a shared flat for uni, I’m vicariously living through your renovation videos and getting so many ideas!
Your home is a billion percent not my style but I'm completely obsessed with watching your videos and seeing how fun everything is and how happy it makes you.
So pleased to see you choose exactly what you want for your home. I can tell by how you speak about your rooms/ house that you’re so happy and proud of your renovations and designs and I could not be happier for you as a fellow home owner.
I’m so invested with this house! It’s so gorgeous and fun. I love how you have cottage core vibes but with insane color combinations! Love it and thank you for being an original!!!!
I love your aesthetic! So glad to see someone, especially so young, expressing their personal tastes on social media! Loved that you played the piano and had your own beautiful music as the background for some of the video. I also really appreciated how, no matter how young and energetic and supported by family, HGTV deadlines aren’t easily achievable, nor do they allow for the full vision of the room to manifest. Thank you for sharing this joyful, inspiring, sometimes backbreaking, beautiful, dream-making journey.
it‘s so interesting to me, how at the beginning of your videos i‘m always sceptical about the room‘s planned style and colors and by the end i‘m so absolutely in love with all of it and admiring every bold choice of color. your house is beautiful and getting more and more special every video, ariel. excited about the ongoing journey :) greetings from austria
I love this colour combo! The way you balanced it all is perfect! The softness of the tones is carried throughout your home. So gorgeous. These videos are so fun to watch.
I laughed when you said people hated paint and trim colors you picked out for your other rooms. Why do they care? Like your house isn’t my style either but it’s so whimsical and warm… and it expresses your personality perfectly! Keep doing you!
Exactly!!! 🤎
Right, I am excited everytime a video drop because I love how the house is going.
I just wish those colours would work in my home but it doesn't have nearly as much charm.
Why film and post in a public forum if people can't express their opinion about it?!?!?! 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
The internet is a strange and often grumpy place, haha! It astounds me too!
"People are gonna hate the colours" Well they can mind their own business! I am not personally fond of any of these colours but no one can deny that this room is stunning! I am so inspired by these videos

haha thanks!
I am so happy for you that you got your dream couch! The room looks amazing!!!
1) GORGEOUS. Unmatched, incredible, so stylish but so personal and homely.
2) I'm so impressed every time you post a house video with how capable and competent you are. DIY queen.
Yes! The set design in Emma (2020) was brilliant! Way to challenge yourself and designing your house for you and not just trends. Love that!
that piano piece was to die for! The sound coming from an older piano is just MWA!
Really enjoying this series and that your personality shines in each room you make over. 💛
I was so excited to see the Frida wall back! Your living room came out so perfectly lovely
I love the warmth and coziness of the colours you chose and I like that you didn't settle for the original layout you had. The effort and thought you put in your room really shows!
Ariel, you are simply the coolest person I've ever seen. I am obsessed with all your house choices. These vids bring me so much joy 🥰
I'm honestly looking forward to the horror room in your house that you decided to eventually turn into your bedroom.that is going to be a massive transformation, very exciting💃
so weird to think it's just sitting there... waiting...
I'm excited to see what she does with the exterior of the house color wise. She's mentioned she loves colorful exteriors I think and she obviously loves color inside so I'm super curious. Especially as someone who also loves a lot of color.
@@David-un4cs Ariel has chosen a GREAT place to live. Nova Scotia has a long history of embracing colourful exteriors.
I love Ariel's decor style!
Utterly blown away by how close you got the room style and its just beautiful! I LOVE the colours!
I want this series to never end.
I’m buying it soon too, win win!
I LOVE THE COLOURS IN YOUR HOOOSE! Omg good for you for getting the couch of your dreams. So great!
So happy to see someone on You Tube painting their rooms with something other than white. You stayed true to yourself and didn't follow trends. Great job. Your excitement is contagious.
I love how you, as a literature buff, couldn’t remember what a bell jar is. ❤️
But then again, the things closest to us can often be the easiest to forget!
Or Cloches
While true, not the point I was making. Thanks for bringing up the other option though!
When I first saw it, "cloche' was the word that I thought of
Or what color celadon is! So much going on in one brain and heart
i found your channel yesterday.
I have absolutely loved every one of these room makeovers and this room is so gorgeous. Great job :))
I LOVE the pink couch ahhhh! It's so fun and I think having a second couch makes the room feel so much more complete.
with the yellow and rose shades the room very much reminds me of the Villa Villekulla from Pippi Longstocking - a perfect vibe, that is. I would love to one day have similar styles in my own home :) wishing you all of the comfy evenings!
I LOVE the pink! As someone who is still living in a shared flat for uni, I’m vicariously living through your renovation videos and getting so many ideas!
Ariel, i Just think you have perfect taste. Every room I've seen is sooooo fun and beautiful! So uniquely you! The couch..... truly genius!
This is the prettiest room I have ever seen! I think you are really good at interior design and you really do have an amazing taste.
In the best way possible, your house is starting to look like the "Cat in the hat" movie set design and I am HERE FOR IT!
Your home is a billion percent not my style but I'm completely obsessed with watching your videos and seeing how fun everything is and how happy it makes you.
I'm still watching but I'm so excited for everything you achieve and thankful that you let us witness this whole process✨
I get so much joy whenever you upload
I love everything about this room... it makes me feel unafraid to use colours around my house. Thanks so much for the inspiration 😍😍😍
it‘s so interesting to me, how at the beginning of your videos i‘m always sceptical about the room‘s planned style and colors and by the end i‘m so absolutely in love with all of it and admiring every bold choice of color. your house is beautiful and getting more and more special every video, ariel. excited about the ongoing journey :) greetings from austria
I love this colour combo! The way you balanced it all is perfect! The softness of the tones is carried throughout your home. So gorgeous. These videos are so fun to watch.
