I love that you’re just doing that space and not the closet as well because that just means we get ANOTHER video in the future of the closet!! Two videos is better than one
It should have been done altogether so the room looks like it belongs and movement flows and doesn’t look like a cheap afterthought. I would have put in the same flooring, outfitted it with shelving and bi-fold doors. Right now it’s just a useless, tacky mop storage room. You should have made it join the rest of the house: floor. covering, wallpaper, coordinating paint colors, battery powered lights and dump the ugly electric cord from the bathroom trailing around the doorjamb. Or remove the door completely have dad make a small mop closet and have free access to shelves for maybe holiday decorations and luggage.
I'm so happy that we're living in an age where people are starting to realise that your home is for you not for resale value. You can always make everything white again when you move out if that ends up happening but you should really just enjoy your space and make the most of it. I can't wait to experiment with wild wallpapers and amazing colors in a future home.
That is now with social media and all this RUclipsrs and HGTV shows. Before them, people used to decorate for themselves, not for resale value. I used to see the most original and amazing decorations at homes from people way before that. And with the uncertainty of today's , people are just waiting to have to move out and sell, but people used to live longer at their places before therefore having the freedom to do as they wished.
This orange paint is perfect for that wallpaper!! Lots of people love color and design-- it only takes ONE buyer to love your home when you are selling-- I NEVER paint over rooms when I sell and my last house sold in ONE day!!❤🎉
It would be fun to see a “what I’ve done so far” kind of walk through just to see how everything is coming together. I love all of the little videos but would love to see like a full walk through to compare with the beginning!
Something I love about this series is how you don't feel beholden to completing an entire huge project (like an entire main room) for a video! It's soooo pleasing to watch these little bits and pieces come together.
I got a secondhand crockpot i use for restoring old, painted hardware. It's so satisfying. I don't add anything to the water. I just simmer the pieces, then brush them clean.
Ariel, I am 70 years old and live in TX. I love watching you be so excited. I love your cute accent!. I love your ideas! I love you old house.....I grew up in an old house and all the wals were a calming sea green!. After all of us kids grew up ...my Mom moved with her 2nd husband to a new house and she and a friend learned to wallpaper. She had a very large house and 3 big bedrooms and she began to paper each and every bathroom and bedroom and she had a blast. And it was the old soak the paper in water and had to be precut precisely for that wall...I really lke you house!
Looks spectacular! That closet is a PERFECT laundry room. Nothing better than doing laundry on the same floor as the bedrooms and bathrooms. Hopefully, plumbing is available.
The problem with having an upstairs laundry area is if and when it leaks you'l have to fix that room and the room below. Its best to invest in leakage detectors if you really want it. But if it's directly on top of kitchen I wouldn't do it.
So I love the idea of a laundry room upstairs but isn't it extra/just as much hassle to trek outside to the washing line and back in/up as it would be otherwise? Upstairs laundry room with a balcony would be ideal I guess.
In North America, most people have dryers. That said, I am not sure if that closet is in an easy place to add the appropriate ventilation for a dryer. And adding the plumbing for a washer would probably be a nightmare
Gorgeous! "Strawberry Thief" has always been a favorite Morris pattern of mine, and how can one go wrong with William Morris??? I actually think the beauty of the design is more evident in this small, close space, and the salmon color is PERFECT! God's blessings of peace and protection upon your household:)
I feel personally attacked because they don't ship this to Australia 😭. The Strawberry thief is possibly my most favourite art ever and it looks so good here
I love how you pay attention to every detail. I only have one room in which I am "stuck" 24/7 due to severe disability. It is my entire world, every centimeter is important and special. That is how you seem to treat your house too. I love how your nook turned out!♡
I love the idea someone put forth for painting the closet that beautiful yellow. It would brighten up the closet and make it cohesive with the hall/room
"Nothing is a straight line" OH MY GOD hahaha I literally screamed "YES! YES! THAT!" with a mouth full of toast lol! We were putting trim on a wall and coving and like, oh my God ... the GAPS hahahaha
I wanted the kitchen cabinets to go the ceiling so there wasn't a place to catch dust and grease. Went to install the cabinets while we were rehabbing an 1882 house. There's a 6" difference between one end of the cabinet run and the other. It's easy enough to hide in the empty space if the cabinets don't go all the way up but trim wouldn't have worked. I now have 30' of oak crown molding that I have no use for. It's always something when working on an older house.
I rewatch your house videos a lot, and I happened to be watching this one when my dad walked in. He's seen clips of your stuff before, and he saw you were doing the floor in this tiny room. I go, "Oh, here she goes! More floors!" And my dad goes, "Yes! She does good floors." 🫶🏻 A true compliment from my dad lol! 🙌
After watching your new bathroom episode, I rewatched this lovely episode--I just love this little antechamber! One thing I hadn't noticed before, is how the wallpaper looks beautifully centered on the no-door wall (I'm guessing without you planning that). Watching this made me wish that your new bathroom captures all your spirit and I can't wait to see how it unfolds! Good luck, Ariel! I love your channel!
This room is like a tiny jewel box, it really IS beautiful. I did a similar thing in our 1/2 bath, a small but powerful statement. Thank you for sharing it.
Gorgeous. I lived in a 1910's apartment that had a similar "room'. I thought of it as a changing room. I love the bold dark pattern...not sure when we all got scared of dark colors in interior design...but I am thrilled to see it coming back in the past few years.
I literally love the colors. The salmon is so perfect especially with the green. The wallpaper is perfect. I 100% vote that you get a hanging chandelier of some kind for the little space. Nothing like super flashy or country just something Victorian. Simple. I see you have that outlet even if you have to drill a hole through the very top of the wall to make the plugging in more graceful you could decorate it with a super cute faceplate. It needs something hanging. It was meant for something to hang. That is a small room of upper class there love. Perfect! 🖤
Anyone else living vicariously through Ariel? I would love to decorate my own home! This tiny space says a thousand words and it exudes your personality and style, love it, love the video xx
I’ve been telling myself “One of these days, I’m gonna try some different colors” for five years now. I did repaint the second bedroom, which the previous owner had painted a shade of periwinkle that you could still see after you closed your eyes…
The salmon and wall paper are exquisite and needs to go in other areas of the house 😊. Looks so good with the green. The green paint on the floors is perfect.
I was totally rooting for the coral red and I'm so glad you went with it! Doing the ceiling too is absolutely amazing. I'm also a William Morris fan and have patterns of his in every room in the house. It turned out AMAZING. Literally so beautiful.
this was such a delight to watch, and i LOVE your principle re: every inch of the house is an opportunity to design/play, and to feel like thought has gone into it. i am inspired to do all the little things that pop into my head aorund my apartment now :)
It looks so good! It’s amazing how the two colors affect how the wallpaper looks - there was a noticeable difference. The salmon looks fantastic and overall the area has such a punch of saturated beauty.
I mean, everytime I watch a room renovation video of yours, I think to myself "It can't get any better than this, right?" but you keep proving us wrong. Every new room you renovate is more goergeous than the previous one. So far you have made one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen in my life. I can't wait to see more of it!
Dont know if she mentioned, but in case anyone wonders: The pattern is called "Strawberry thief" and is considered the very first commercially printed wallpaper pattern in history :)
Lovely lovely William Morris…when I attended art college there was a blue plaque on the next door building- apparently Morris lived there for two years. The town (Leek in Staffordshire) is famous for its fabric dyeing (the resident Wardle family produced the black dye for Queen Victoria’s mourning dresses. Sure it’s more convoluted than that but basically) and Morris used their knowledge to further his printing processes. Sometimes I stand outside the building (you can’t go in now😕) and just think OMG WILLIAM MORRIS LIVED THERE and totally geek out.
I also had ehlers danlos syndrome and i thought my dreams of getting an old house and renovating it was out of the picture. You have inspired me so much!! Id love a video of basic home renovating stuff (how to know if a wall is load baring, what kind of tools you use like a planar or table saw or what your go to tools are, how you start imagining what a room will look like, your remodeling hacks, etc!) Kind of like a Workshop Tour!
If I could pick a room in my mom’s house (where I currently live), I would wallpaper the staircase up to the finished attic. It’s a spiral, and the steps are also already painted so they could be part of the accent. I think it would just feel so magical to walk though, like you said. Might try to convince my mom lol but she hates wallpaper
Maybe you could paint the motif instead or use renter friendly wallpaper? This does seem like a great idea. Or maybe frame the wallpaper and do a gallery wall of the continuous print?
What makes me especially excited is that this wallpaper is a version of strawberry thief which is referenced in tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin! I loved the book and I want to use the wallpaper as a secret reference I’m my home. So cool to see you do it first, it made me braver!!!
This might be my favourite transformation yet? Is that crazy to say when it’s such a small space?? It’s just such beautiful wallpaper and the burnt salmon trim is perfection.
I grew up with an interior designer, and worked in interior design for a long time. I love seeing all of your custom work... it reminds me of an old late 60s house we (were forced to) rennovate, where everything was custom for each space. The carpet folded carefully around each step ending in a beautiful puddle at the base, the mouldings curving around every wall, in every space--everything was done with so much care and intention. I was devastated to renovate that crazy house, but I learned a lot from it. I love that you are making your space fully yours, the cuts your dad did around the baseboards for your new floor... makes me so happy to see. Wishing you the best in your life--thank you so much for sharing :')
Your house is magnificently beautiful. You’ve done an amazing job transforming it! I can almost imagine the house puffing itself up like a peacock - feeling so good about itself. Showing off its vibrant colors lol thank you for saving this gem of a home. You are doing the good work! Thank you for allowing us to come with you on this journey!
I want to tell you that I LOVE YOUR USE OF COLOR! Don't let anyone wreck your vibe. It's a lovely vibe, honey! I married a person whose mom was in real estate for a long time. so every time I want to do a room, he starts talking about resale value. We are not thinking about moving, so why not make the house as lovely as we want? Love this videos!
It's so pretty! The Strawberry Thief is my absolute favourite William Morris print, and you made it full justice! The pinkish red was a great choice, it really brings out the Englishness of the Morris wallpaper, it looks eccentric and quirky in just the right way! A word of warning - when you have started on the wallpaper route, it's quite possible that you can't stop, not until every room in the house is wallpapered... That's my case, except for the livingroom, where I've painted stripes instead of wallpapering (so yes, pattern!), I can't even imagine having plain painted walls anymore! Also - you can wallpaper with so much more than actual wallpaper: in my upper hallway, I have used pages from women's magazines from the 30s and 40s, and in my kitchen and on my wardrobe I've used botanical illustrations from old flora books, and my bathroom door I've covered with old tea boxes. If it's pretty and if it can be glued on, it can go on the walls (or whatever you like)! So yes, to conclude, your little nook looks amazing, and I look forward to see you do more wallpaper in your house! ^_^
The salmon was definitely the perfect choice it makes all the colors in the wall paper pop beautifully! As soon as you showed the two options I was like “ORANGE! ORANGE! ORANGE! PICK THE ORANGE!”
This looks absolutely lovely! I think my only critique which I am sure you have a plan for already is that cord for the light over the picture. I would just drill a hole in the wall and have it nip in behind into that closet that houses the plug. You could put a decorative plate maybe or even try to cover it with the paper to match the spot. One of those old school cable plates could do it :)
I'm glad you went with the salmon! It looks wonderful. I was worried about the yellow being too overwhelming. A final finishing touch that would just add just that little extra would be to slap some trim up at the top where the wall meets the ceiling to hide any cut lines, etc. ✨
Beautiful. The only thing I’d do is buy a flat light switch cover and cover it in the paper, making sure to match up the pattern. That paper is stunning
yes!!! finally wallpaper! i dont know if youve said youd be using it or not but i guess somehow i could ~feel~ that you would lol. so excited to see how it turns out
Love it! Like a small jewel of a space! Glad you are not afraid to be a bit daring with paint choices. Gorgeous wallpaper. Dad is a star too! Floor looks so much better! He made it all work! You should definitely follow what your heart wants, so that was a good call. I just have to smile looking at your house because I grew up in the house very much like that. There’s something very comfortable about it. Even if it’s colder in winter and hotter in summer. There’s just something about the bones of the place of that age. You don’t get it with new homes. And I can’t help but think that this house is just smiling, coming back to life! Keep up the good work. Really enjoy your videos! And way to go Wayfair…for supporting our girl!!!🙂🙂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The wallpaper is everything! I love the color of the trim with it. So pretty!! I heard a interior designer say that you should paint the ceiling 2 shades lighter than the trim or walls. Just a thought to make the space a little lighter. It’s beautiful!!! ♥️✌🏼
Absolutely love how that space looks now. What an incredible transformation!! You really did a great job and I think the salmon color was the perfect choice. Love that you painted the ceiling too.
I can relate to the weak joints! When you get to be my age the worry of falling is worse cause along with EDS I also have osteoporosis. Love all the work you are doing on your home!
Absolutely love the look. Your not only a renovation artist. Your interesting. I can't stomach another grey and boring renovation video. Thank you for colourful viewing
Ariel, you are the embodiment of pure joy. I have only discovered your channel in the past couple of days and am bingeing like there is no tomorrow. In answer to your question, "Which room would you wallpaper in your home?" It would hands down be our library/reading room ... I LOVE the William Morris "Strawberry Thief" design (we currently have velvet cushions in this pattern on the library day bed, but as a tribute to my Grandmother, I would wallpaper the library in "Golden Lily" (Indigo), also by Morris. She once had a day bed that she upholstered in this design on which we would sit and read as children. I hope you recovered well from your fall at the time. It sounded somewhat frightening. Keep doing what you're doing, Ariel. All of it is marvellous. Respect.
I found your channel when I was saving up to buy my own house. I wanted (and still want) an old house like yours in the future and my plan for that house was to restore it and be really creative with it like you're doing to yours. My plans have changed for the time being, but I still religiously drop everything every time you upload one of these. I cant wait to see what you do with the rest of your house!
It looks amazing! I think the pink colour was totally the right choice, the yellow wouldn’t have been as striking. Cool to see a total transformation of such a small space
I am always so impressed with how talented your dad and you are, truly a beautiful room and changing the door is a great accomplishment that I would have never even thought possible! Love the wall paper!!
22:36 the view of the space from the saje coloured room is so beautiful. The salmon matches the wallpaper perfectly and it's so enchanting to look out from the calming green of the room to the bright and fun space
It turned out so beautifully. I’m especially enamored by the doorknobs! That’s so cool that those were just there, hidden underneath the paint. I can’t believe they’d cover them up.
There is nothing on RUclips - not even Leena Norms's videos - that I love watching as much as I love watching these videos. They aren't just about wallpaper and staining wood to me - although you've even made staining wood a subject I'm interested in. To me, these videos contain a whole world and a beautiful way of living in it. I see so much in them that inspires me. Independence, self-sufficiency, perseverance, finding joy in living and in the appreciation of beauty, delicate things and small moments. Living according to your values, taking charge of what you can in an overwhelming and chaotic world, true style, learning by doing, making your own home, meaningful time spent with family. Resourcefulness, an abundance of creativity, unapologetic enthusiasm, and so much more. Thank you for being the way that you are. Thank you for sharing what you're making with us. In what are pretty overwhelming and scary times, it means everything. P.S. I LOVE the room and that PAINT colour!? It's gorgeous.
I ADORE that ur decorating your house like this, I mean no offence to ppl who decorate their house with grey and silver but I just find it so boring and unoriginal whereas the design of your home is fantastical and so interesting!! even with little rooms like that you make it stand out so much, it reminds me of homes from the 1800/1700s where the people decorated every space of the house and then the pops of colour really compliment everything! so glad that you're documenting this series
Hi there! First video of yours that I’ve seen. I love your style of presenting: “I feel like a witch, boiling my bolts…”😄 I totally get that! And I love that you use your vocabulary; it’s refreshing to not hear the same words used on RUclips, over and over. Thanks! Looks great. I’ll be watching more.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I have looked at that wallpaper you chose so many times….it’s so lovely! And the coral colored trim is perfect. I am also in a coral mood of late and used it to trim my bedroom.
I love that you’re just doing that space and not the closet as well because that just means we get ANOTHER video in the future of the closet!! Two videos is better than one
lol I am also very excited about this 😍
I had the same thought. Great minds think alike!
I can’t wait to see what she does with it!
It should have been done altogether so the room looks like it belongs and movement flows and doesn’t look like a cheap afterthought. I would have put in the same flooring, outfitted it with shelving and bi-fold doors. Right now it’s just a useless, tacky mop storage room. You should have made it

Never thought I would say “oh WOW” while looking at a doorknob and yet here I am 😂 also this WALLPAPER 😍
i did the exact same thing lol
That doorknob is a delight and quite the find. Honestly. It's gorgeous.
Omg same 😹 that door knob is incredible
I audibly gasped when it was shown. A stunner!
I was going "Holy sh*t! That door knob is gorgeous."
It would be fun to see a “what I’ve done so far” kind of walk through just to see how everything is coming together. I love all of the little videos but would love to see like a full walk through to compare with the beginning!
I was thinking the same thing! Like a recap
She did do one a little while back, but another one would be cool! Maybe after the spooky room is done 👀 👻
Agreed!
Something I love about this series is how you don't feel beholden to completing an entire huge project (like an entire main room) for a video! It's soooo pleasing to watch these little bits and pieces come together.
Yes!! It's a gentle, soothing pace and reminds me that sometimes it takes time to accomplish goals. It's all about continuing to put one foot forward!
I got a secondhand crockpot i use for restoring old, painted hardware. It's so satisfying. I don't add anything to the water. I just simmer the pieces, then brush them clean.
The salmon paint really brings out the red hues in the wallpaper in such a beautiful way! This color is so so dreamy.

An absolutely perfect transitional space. By the time this home is "finished" it will belong in a fairy tale.
that wallpaper makes my heart flutter. i just adore how much personality you put into your home, it's a labor of love.
I have it fabric and oh man... I love it. My most favourite print ever. William Morris made the best ever prints 😭
@@katerrinah5442 i thought it looked like a william morris print!! kinda excited that i recognized it :)
I want to wallpaper my laundry room and bathroom!

Yes! That’s always hard… you prepare so much and in the end, it wasn’t even your lack of skill. It’s the house!
"This tiny room is perfect for a punch of wallpaper." Love it.

This is my favorite room that you've done by far. Can the yellow be used in the closet to contrast with the wallpaper?
This is a great idea! Because I like the yellow and want to see it somewhere too! It would look great in the closet
Ooh or it could also be pretty to use a blue paint that matches the color in the wallpaper

That paint color and wallpaper combo ✨. Let’s talk more about those wooden door knobs!
Those are ceramic. Late 1800's to early 1900's. I have one on an outbuilding and every time I touch it I love it.

This wallpaper is perfect for the era of your house. William Morris inspired and just gorgeous! The trim is the icing😁👍🇨🇦
I laughed when I read your remark because I was just thinking that the house is "doing" Meg Ryan's "happy" scene in Harry met Sally. 😁
I love the trim color. I would call that color something in the persimmon/cinnabar/vermilion range.
I know you already know this but how special this house is because you and your dad are doing it together. That's just priceless right there.
I never thought I would wallpaper a room but now I will!!
I can't express how happy I am that you went with the salmon lol it's gorgeous!
You should totally add molding along the ceiling in that red shade! I feel like it'd complete the room :) Either way it looks STUNNING
Beautiful. The only thing I’d do is buy a flat light switch cover and cover it in the paper, making sure to match up the pattern. That paper is stunning
I just chose the same wallpaper in another colourway for my grandma's guest bedroom! Strawberry thief, right? Love it and love the video!
I gasped after seeing the paint removed from doorknobs. How beautiful! I think you made the right paint choice. Everything looks so good.
After seeing how perfect the wallpaper turned out I couldn't help to think "how is this woman so perfect?!". Loved the video.
It's a beautiful space that completes the Victorian area of the home. You did an amazing job!
yes!!! finally wallpaper! i dont know if youve said youd be using it or not but i guess somehow i could ~feel~ that you would lol. so excited to see how it turns out
This is possibly my favorite thing so far. Just a lovely use of an unobtrusive space to make a gorgeous moment in a house that's all yours!
I loved all of this, but the doorknob reveal was my favorite part. I literally gasped!
I always get cheesy excited when I see these videos pop up! They're so fun and aesthetically pleasing
⚘🌿
I gasped when I saw the doorknob revealed under that paint. What a treasure old houses are.
The wallpaper is everything! I love the color of the trim with it. So pretty!! I heard a interior designer say that you should paint the ceiling 2 shades lighter than the trim or walls. Just a thought to make the space a little lighter. It’s beautiful!!! ♥️✌🏼
Oh my goodness this is Lush.
Stunning gorgeous and totally inspirational and everything William Morris stood for.
Well done ✅ congratulations 👏🎉
“Stay clam. I’m calm” I feel like Ariel was convincing herself she was calm
I legit gasped at the doorknobs when you finished cleaning them. They’re gorgeous!! How could someone cover those with paint!?
It's after midnight here in Germany but who cares, I can't wait to watch this!! 😍
Same!!
The yellow is lovely but it just pops so much with the coral and the green. What a lovely space!
I love every single episode of this! You’re living the dream!
Absolutely love the look. Your not only a renovation artist. Your interesting. I can't stomach another grey and boring renovation video. Thank you for colourful viewing
This was the perfect paint color, love your “little room”.
I have had my eye on this wallpaper and it makes me so thrilled to see it in action! Love it! Quite a lovely "vestibule."
It looks amazing! I think the pink colour was totally the right choice, the yellow wouldn’t have been as striking. Cool to see a total transformation of such a small space
I love the yellow just as much as the salmon colour you chose so maybe you could paint the inside of the closet the yellow
Yes! Or I wish the ceiling was yellow. But both colors are super beautiful!
I came here to comment the same thing! I think it could be so cute in yellow
Good idea!
Strawberry thief is my favorite wallpaper, too. I’d wallpaper every room in my house if I could afford it.
I am always so impressed with how talented your dad and you are, truly a beautiful room and changing the door is a great accomplishment that I would have never even thought possible! Love the wall paper!!
22:36 the view of the space from the saje coloured room is so beautiful. The salmon matches the wallpaper perfectly and it's so enchanting to look out from the calming green of the room to the bright and fun space
you have such a fantastic and unique eye for colour and design - I hope my future home can resemble some of the richness of yours!
I would wallpaper most of my house if I could. Your paper is just what I would pick. I love paper with a dark background. ❤️
I sighed in satisfaction when you started painting. The color is so beautiful. The end result makes me float in awe
It's a masterpiece! I would love to wallpapaer my bathroom, and maybe paint the ceiling gold!!! I'm super excited to see your Wayfair series!
Hi there! First video of yours that I’ve seen. I love your style of presenting: “I feel like a witch, boiling my bolts…”😄
I totally get that! And I love that you use your vocabulary; it’s refreshing to not hear the same words used on RUclips, over and over. Thanks! Looks great. I’ll be watching more.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Your house is going to be so beautiful when you're finished with it. I'm excited to see the next project
I love that you went with the salmon color, the orange-y color with blue is perfect color theory
This turned out incredibly gorgeous! “Elegant & funky” as a design style really speaks to my soul 🥹
This wallpaper with the paint is everything. Way to go!!
I have looked at that wallpaper you chose so many times….it’s so lovely! And the coral colored trim is perfect. I am also in a coral mood of late and used it to trim my bedroom.
It's absolutely gorgeous!! I also love the trim color!!!!! Wow! 😍
The amount of love and work going into your house is so admirable. Hope I can put that much love into where I live one day ❤
It looks gorgeous, like a little jewel box ♥️you definitely chose the right colour and the wallpaper is stunning!
This little hallway is literally so beautiful, I adore what you have done and the colours bring me such happiness! Well done! Xxx
