      Joe Pass is pretty cool, but playing gets kinda old. At a certain point, you just wanna tell him to stop playing so much and to calm down.
      Joe Pass is the beer of music; having a cold one after a nice day of work is really nice, but having one every time you come back home just gets really old and it looses its taste.

    Saw this man live 2 days ago. Met him, talked to him. My wife and I got our guitars and other things signed. Being at a Steve Vai concert isnt about "Hearing" or "Seeing" it live. It's an experience. It's about feeling it. Moments where I shed a tear in his performances. Even my wife shed a few tears too. If you're ever wondering if the EVO experience is worth it. First of all, that’s beautiful. I guess Steve is like that as both and artist and a person; incredibly smart man, but he clearly feels emotions very deeply. It would make a lot of sense for his concerts to be like that, and even though I’ve never been to one, I’m stunned at the passion and strength he still managed to put into his playing. I’m glad you two had such an amazing experience.
      Second of all, you have the coolest wife ever.

      @@boyharmon357 Yes I have put it down. Not because I tired of playing, but because it refreshes my mind. I know it may seem like a long time, but I find that if I take a couple of months away from playing…my playing and mind connection with my guitar improves. I don’t sit idly and do nothing. I tend to listen to a lot of music and explore new avenues of music. For instance, I listened to Gojira and learned their music. Didn’t play, but actually tried to see where they were going musically along with other bands in the Metal genre. I hope this helps you to spend some time not playing. I won’t tell you how long not to play. But try to at least take three or four weeks off. I think you will come back wanting to play refreshed. Peace

    Steve is a genius. He's not just on another planet as far as creativity, composition and technique goes, he's in a different universe entirely. He is a true virtuoso player. It's no point comparing him to anyone else because he's in a class by himself. So much expression in this it's insane. What a remarkable feeling it must be to be able to spontaneously play what you here in your head. Thanks for being so amazing. You're an inspiration to us all.

    • @AntonTheunissen
      @AntonTheunissen 10 лет назад +81

      He's absolutely great and it's a marvellous, expressive an touching solo but I don't think it's as spontaneous as you think. Just compare it with some live recordings. The solo is balanced, composed, built up well. For spontaneous genious check out some improvisations from Guthrie Govan.

    what i admire about Steve Vai the most is the crazy amount of control and mastery he has over the guitar. every note is intentional, smooth and has meaning. it's almost surreal watching him play and the types of notes that come out. not to mention he makes his guitar have a voice. you know it's Vai when he hits a note. of course, i also enjoy the infrequent times an accident happens (e.g. amp goes out, string breaks) because his playing generally is so perfect that it's impossible to believe and those moments show that he is real.
