I love this performance. Allan Clarke was just great, fantastic singer. All the Hollies were awesome musicians. One of the best bands ever, The Hollies.
Peter, Paul, and Mary, the Kingston Trio, the Limelighters, the Brothers Four, etc. move over! This is Folk Movement material as in the late '50s and early '60s. The Hollies would have fit right in at the Newport Folk Festival and would have probably have been the stars of the festival. The Hollies could truly do it all with complete facility and taste, and that is why they are my fave music group of all time!
The Hollies were a top act they managed to change their sound with the years and still come up with awesome songs…one of the most underrated bands ever in my book. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I been listening to the Hollies for a year now and Allan Clarke s voice blows me away Tony Hicks and his banjo and guitar player Graham Nash is awesome musician also love these men they are handsome and sexy love The Hollies
FABULOUS: Allan has been underrated for his excellent vocals. There is absolutely NO recording one can get of him where his vocals are less than excellent. OK there were the Beatles, but I really cannot understand why The Hollies had less projection than them. Guys are amazing, and even when Allan - who is retired - comes back to sing something, his performances are always just perfect.
This song was first performed by Peter Paul and Mary as a folk song. It's on their 1963 album "In the Wind." This original version is also on RUclips, sung live by PP&M. The Hollies do such a great job of covering the song, and I especially love the guitar solo by Hicks.
This is one of my VERY FAVORITE live videos of the Hollies... there's so much I could say, it's the best! You know what they say, a picture's worth a thousand words... well, this video must be worth a million :3
These days singers can't even perform their songs live because of all the "help" they get in the studio... but these guys sound even better live than on the studio version.
These guys were born naturals as stalwart writers, performers, instrumentalists and vocalists!! They looked so cool here!! Say it again, I loved these guys!!
This movie is awesome because we can hear real live performance and they play one of my favorite songs of theirs. I've never imagined it was playd by the banjo!!! Great movie! Additionally, I heard Allan talk on the stage for the first time.
Brilliant performance of the song. Had the LP from 1969 and then the CD and its the first time I have seen it live, if anything its better than the recorded version !
This has to be one of the best videos of the hollies ever! They were and are one of the best groups ever, Allan is one of the best singers ever and although this is before my time I absolutely love him x
Thanks for putting this up, Lynn! This is a one-of-a-kind live performance as only the Hollies can do. Allan's introductions are hilarious, especially when they start clapping during Tony and Graham's parts. Allan's voice is stunning and electrifying, as is the man himself!
This is wonderful!! As far as I am concerned, Allan was the best lead singer for the Hollies! He has a magnificent voice!! They Sylvester guy didn't even come close!
Sylvester is a total jerk to the band who gave him the opportunity to raise to the stardom. He don't even deserve a mention in the same line in which Allan's name is written.
How interesting they sing Very Last Day in Split when Graham Nash has said in different interviews that it was while he was in Croatia that he decided it was time for him to go his own way.
@tradfan - you mean the 6 string banjo ( banjitar)? since he usually played this song on a guitar, using a 6 string banjo tuned like a guitar prob. made it easier for him to get that banjo sound he wanted - just a guess!! sounds good, don't ya think? awesome performance! i just love @3:44 when tony reacts to the chord he played!!! lynn, thnx for posting - kc
@bst8035 no, but the microphones are. what i'm trying to say: concerts are never unplugged, they always use amps and stuff (off course, otherwise no one could hear them). you're right, the instruments are unplugged, but at the end it's all the same thing... that's how I see it.
I love this performance. Allan Clarke was just great, fantastic singer. All the Hollies were awesome musicians. One of the best bands ever, The Hollies.
Si Señor. Saludos desde un admirador Argentino 🥂🍾😁✌️

This is not folk. It's only a bad copy of a song by Peter, Paul & Mary.
@@eduardoljm4104 Yes. The PP&M version was incomparable.

Not in the USA, but in the UK they sure did, for a very long time!
FABULOUS: Allan has been underrated for his excellent vocals. There is absolutely NO recording one can get of him where his vocals are less than excellent.

This is my favorite because the banjo adds such a unique sound.
So love how they presented this great song.Allan. brilliant. Keep 😊 happy.xx

This was Fantastic. The Hollies were always special, and always will be.

That is the only version I knew until I bought a big Hollies CD set a couple of years ago.
The song was written by Noel Paul Stookey (Peter Paul & Mary).
This is one of my VERY FAVORITE live videos of the Hollies... there's so much I could say, it's the best! You know what they say, a picture's worth a thousand words... well, this video must be worth a million :3
Pure takent!!!

This is my favorite version of The Very Last Day
These days singers can't even perform their songs live because of all the "help" they get in the studio... but these guys sound even better live than on the studio version.
They, YES, sounded better live than on their studio recordings
These guys were born naturals as stalwart writers, performers, instrumentalists and vocalists!! They looked so cool here!! Say it again, I loved these guys!!
They alsways did have lovely harmonies
This movie is awesome because we can hear real live performance and they play one of my favorite songs of theirs. I've never imagined it was playd by the banjo!!! Great movie! Additionally, I heard Allan talk on the stage for the first time.
Best group ever love The Hollies especially Allan Clarke the best looking men from the UK
Brilliant performance of the song. Had the LP from 1969 and then the CD and its the first time I have seen it live, if anything its better than the recorded version !
This is one of their best, excellent.
This has to be one of the best videos of the hollies ever! They were and are one of the best groups ever, Allan is one of the best singers ever and although this is before my time I absolutely love him x

Euphoric and they will always surprise and bring a youthful eternal joy to my very last day.

Ah me encanta!!
Thanks for putting this up, Lynn! This is a one-of-a-kind live performance as only the Hollies can do. Allan's introductions are hilarious, especially when they start clapping during Tony and Graham's parts. Allan's voice is stunning and electrifying, as is the man himself!
Absolutely fantastic!

Very cool Christian song. Never heard the Hollies do this before.

I would call it both. Either or. I’ve sung it in church a few times.
Amen
Bow ties..SO posh!!
Awesome live sound!!!
WOW! THIS is "MTV unplugged" long before "MTV unplugged"
In Split croatia 1968
This is wonderful!! As far as I am concerned, Allan was the best lead singer for the Hollies! He has a magnificent voice!! They Sylvester guy didn't even come close!
I totally agree.😆
Sylvester is a total jerk to the band who gave him the opportunity to raise to the stardom. He don't even deserve a mention in the same line in which Allan's name is written.
The Hollies are the best no singer can match the vocal range of my Allan Clarke
Such handsome guys
Beautiful and wonderful love Brenda
This song was written by Peter and Paul from Peter, Paul and Mary.
Love this song just love the Hollie’s ❤❤❤
Love them ♥️
Love the Hollies.
How interesting they sing Very Last Day in Split when Graham Nash has said in different interviews that it was while he was in Croatia that he decided it was time for him to go his own way.
Love this song from there hear here album
If Christian rock bands could perform like this, well, I guess I'd be buying Christian rock records.
❤
Knockout performance. Looks like they enjoyed it too.
Concordo com Katdowli e sapphiretaurus

This would make a great theme song for a Cowboy western movie.
i like tony hicks' hair like in these videos
Great!

Actually, it was Graham Nash's last performance with the Hollies.
great 3 part harmony, up there with the beatles!! peter paul and mary did a great job as well on this song!
This song was composed by Peter Yarrow and Pual Stookey (PP&M), ans thir version ib much better than this.
I am guessing they heard the Peter, Paul & Mary version and covered it. I believe Peter & Paul wrote it.
Just checked the liner notes - yes, they did write it!
I like the way Peter Paul and Mary do it
That was the Hollies and that was the Hollies sound, sorry to the present incumbents.. :+(
I like banjo really cool instrument
This is not real banjo... The banjo has 4 or 5 strings, and the tuning is completely diferent that the guitar. It´s a guitar guitar with a banjo body.

I was about to say the same thing x)

you're right, the instruments are unplugged, but at the end it's all the same thing... that's how I see it.
Relevant.
i'm gonna steal this joke at my next gig.
God they rule!
