Our channel takes you through the day to day chores here on our rural property in Western Pennsylvania. We also work on new projects and maintain old ones. Just can't figure out what it is
Looks like easy work! My girlfriend uses my splitter quite a bit. Although she can't stand where you do. Sometimes when splitting, the second part of the wedge will split the wood with enough force to launch it. I've seen it fly 15-20 feet. So we stand just clear of the wedge and closer to the cylinder valve. When we stand it up, the safest spot to stand is straight in front of it and the sides are the impact zone! I need to build a table for mine. Have fun!

That was great watching you two my wife and I have the best time she loves running our new splitter we split about a cord and half in no time together just means I've got to cut more soon haha most of my cherry been dying this year but good fire wood
So I just watched this with my kids. They are amazed with Melissa. They want to know how she is so strong to rip logs apart (one of them thinks Mike taught her). They also want to know where is downstairs and what's down there. Keep up the great work!

All this wood cutting and no videos of your wood stove/insert/fireplace. I’d love to see a couple videos on your lighting methods and tips with your set up mike. Hope all is well. Just drove up from PGH to Erie this weekend after a little vacation down south came back to around 8’ of snow in Erie.
I said before you are a great team, and Melissa does well on the tools. I wonder if a sprung table to put the cage on would be worth it? It sits up high and then lowers as you put more wood in it and not a complex engineering exercise.

Do you actually burn wood Mike? been watching since the beginning and can't recall you talking about your set up much? Wood stove, wood boiler, wood furnace, fire place?
Have you ever tried a hookaroon for moving wood without killing your back? I started using a "Fiskar" hookaroon and it is a game changer. Cheap additional tool to speed things up and save your back.
Great video folks. We always enjoyed (mostly) our firewood gathering as a family too and we still enjoy working around the house together after 50 years. She still controls the who gets what percent as it should be. Happy wife Happy life RIGHT!!!!

I wear a leather black smiths apron to protect my clothes and for safety from those pieces that come towards you that you have to stop with your upper thigh, also either wear good boots or be quick on your feet for the sneaky one that drops towards your feet !! Great video !!

I think the 70 /30 split will work perfectly. Mike can use his 70% to have the pool put in and Melissa can use her 30% for chlorine and pool toys. Win/win for everybody

It can definitely be a win/win. Splitting wood and lifting rounds and stacking wood can be a great physical workout taking proper precautions. Mike make sure she goes through the proper "apprentice" period before giving away the farm.
Hey Mike, here is a question. If you are wanting to step up your firewood sales, and under the presumption that time is money, why not invest in a kinetic log splitter? Or what are your thoughts on such machines?

Hello Melissa and Mike, request for you. Could you please show how you take wood planks that you cut on Wood Miser that have two outside irregular edges and cut them straight so that you have a workable board? Thanks, Dan in Chandler, Arizona.

I need to get a better splitter like yours. My friend has a 12 ton that we both use. It works but the cycle time is so much slower than the one that you have. Of course, neither one of us is in the "firewood business", we basically process firewood for our two homes.
I would love to donate some time/effort into getting a website up and running for you, but I can't commit to a whole lot of time. A website is probably the ideal way to go though.

Melissa is a quick study. She is split wood like a pro. I had much rather be working outside than in the house. It's to pretty right now to be stuck in the house.
