Lying Women & Abusive Pastors | Sunday Sermon

  • This sermon was preached at Covenant Bible Church on the Lord's Day, March 19th, 2023.
    The popular sentiment, “believe all women,” is certainly a recipe for disaster. And yet, just as women are capable of bearing false witness, churches are also capable of being abusive. Today’s Christians desperately need a clear understanding of Scripture in order to safeguard against both of these dangers.

      Machismo or male chauvinistic actions are from the devil also. Usually men beat up women not the way around and women aggressive with their mouths and anger are also a disgrace. Pastors who abuse their power are an abomination to the Lord because they misrepresent His image with wrong authority.All should repent.

    Perhaps people dislike the idea of church discipline because they haven’t seen it exercised correctly. I grew up in a church and the pastor announced on Sunday morning on the big screen who gave what in the offering plate, so he fired and kicked out everyone who disagreed with him. The next church I attended for a long time, I was taken at knifepoint to a lake and sexuallyassaulted by a security guard and I told to avoid him and they swore they did background checks, but he had given obviously fake information the cops pointed out and he said he worked with my father who pointed out he didn’t and the Air-Force base said he didn’t work or live in base or work for the military in any form. The cops knew him. I was told via a Facebook Message he was secretly told not to return. After I left, I found out he was serving time in prison for doing the same thing to someone else. The cops said he went to different churches targeting women to rob and rap. If they had actually done a background check, they would have known he was a creep. My next church, a bunch of women told pastors they were being abused like guns pulled and beat up and spanked and pastors told them they weren’t allowed to talk with the pastors because it was their husbands’ job to speak with the pastors and a man who was being accused offered to watch while a woman moved out temporarilyt after her husband pulled a gun on her, but they were all told to stay with their husbands. My friend tried telling the pastor to preach from the pulpit something about not abusing your wife and he told her no because he was preaching on Matthew, so she left. Now, she’s a single-mother who loves Kamala Harris just because she’s a woman and is very bitter toward men and says she’s tired of theology and pointed out John MacArthur is anti-women and condoning abusing women.

    Ok, while we were on the topic of membership, can we also talk about the problematic theology and principles of the membership documents that Christians are required to sign in order to become a member?

    • @sonnyh9774
      @sonnyh9774 Год назад

      Sure, 1 Cor 12 says God picks the members of the body and no one else has the right to say we don't need or want you. Church covenants are extra Biblical requirements for pragmatic and convenience of the elders to give them power the Bible doesn't . Moses needed extra rules because his congregation were Heathens that mostly went to Hell and were fittingly unruly. John Calvin left the Roman Catholic Church trained by them even in law, so the barnicles of the RCC were still there. John Calvin also had saved and lost in his Geneva project and needed a "contract" in order to control all the unruly. So, the history of the church covenant seems to be more for the lost and for the convenience of elders to control them rather than for using the Bible as it is to reprove and admonish the Church.... which Scriptures seem totally adequate to use. It seems arrogant and presumptuous to impose extra rules of membership on the Lord's Church that He didn't impose Himself. Elevating our opinion equal to or above God's appear to be an idolatrous position of which the Bible clearly instructs not to eat with so called brothers who are idolaters. Maybe I'm being too harsh or missing something, but every reason I've ever heard for membership can be accomplished without covenants or contracts. Are we to exclude Christians that don't wish to take an oath that the Bible doesn't require? ... just something to consider

    • @cosmictreason2242
      @cosmictreason2242 Год назад

      @@sonnyh9774 I think the membership rolls are to have a way odd determining who’s actually in the church for the purpose of visitation and discipline. But the voluntary aspect seems to be an unnecessary feature. If someone is a regular attender, they should BBS considered a member and ipso facto subject to the rights and obligations thereof. But what if they are not willing to commit to they local church, as some would say the membership application or oath solves? Simply, we should require of regular attenders to make a commitment or else Be put out of the congregation. We need to remove the two step process

    • @sonnyh9774
      @sonnyh9774 Год назад

      @@cosmictreason2242 I agree somewhat... A regular attendee (real Christian) who claims to be a Christian and shows evidence is a easily recognizable member of the body of Christ whether the leadership wants to acknowledge this spiritual reality or not. We are bought with blood of Christ... a bond slave of which we do not have a lawful choice to rebel against God's precepts and instruction in Scripture (of course people sinfully do). The Bible is sufficient for all correction, instruction, and reproof 2 Tim 3:16. The church covenant or contract doesn't appear to solve problems any better than Scripture already does. If someone wants to rebel, there are plenty of Scripture to confront and discipline with and the authority to do so in clearly in Matt 18:15. Excommunication is a church bodies affirmation that the person in question does not exhibit the qualities and behavior of a regenerate person and should be treated as a heathen or tax collector or non believer.... not asked to leave the church, but the church is now to evangelize the person as if they were never saved. They obviously have been deceived to think they are saved when they are not. The only time someone should be banned from attendance should be intentional disruption of services, physical violence, etc... otherwise, all lost people should be invited to sit under the preaching of the Word, so that hopefully they will have faith and believe.

      @@cosmictreason2242 I think (at least in baptist churches I've attended) the form is to determine if you are actually baptized in order to participate in the Lord's Supper (which comes with warnings in the Bible if you take it in an unworthy manner). Nowadays, it's been common for people who were chased out of a church due to child/sexual abuse to go to another church and work with kids with no one the wiser. Our church does background checks on anyone who practically walks into the nursery wing, but not all churches do. I personally think predators won't be able to sneak into another church if the church is more diligent about calling the police and charging abusers with an actual crime so that it will show up on their background checks, but that's just me.

    As a girl, I watched the pastor who baptized me get run out of the church because a few deacon wives got their noses in a snit with the pastor's wife. They launched a campaign against them both, and I remember my parents speaking out vocally in his favor saying that it was not right what they were doing, and the people falsely accusing the pastor and his wife would be under judgment for maliciously and falsely attacking the pastor and his family. Fast forward 5 years and we were at a new church in a new state (my dad was in the Air Force0 and my mom was battling against the deacons because they hired an 18 year old pastor to lead the youth group and they were letting a) youth group stop actually studying the Bible, b) kids smoke in the alley behind the church, b) boys and girls share sleeping bags during lock-ins, c) an older kid confessed to molesting two other teens and they continued to let him come to youth group. They accused my mom of attacking the youth minister, and finally my dad pulled us out of church and joined a fledgeling church plant.
