In the late 70's and 80's my mother worked for Eastern Airlines. The whole family was given a checkbook looking booklet of blank tickets and I could fill out anywhere I wanted to go and standby for the flight. Family members and employees got unlimited tickets. It was like a big family so the gate agent would put pass flyers in first class when available and the flight attendants would treat you as if you were their own daughter or best friend. It was completely awesome. Full delicious meal service, full length movie. All free. I have the best memories of my travel, while being inside the airports and traveling on the planes. Everyone was nicely dressed, quiet, polite, friendly, happy. It sounds like a pipe dream. This is not the same world today. It's literally a nightmare parallel reality. People are caricatures of humans, now.

My parents worked for United, yes I remember those checkbook pass tickets!! It was literally like you described! My brother and I would be standby but remember we got 1st class alot! They served french toast, gave us playing cards, plastic United wings, a magazine selection..it truly was alot of fun flying in those days. Your comment brought back happy memories!

I flew Spirit Airlines to Orlando. There were mosquitoes on board and the seats had no cushioning. I also didn't like that there was no ambient lighting. The flight was also delayed 2 hours. It wasn't a good experience

That's the thing. During takeoff, there was a mosquito inside by the window. I do not know how it got in.
That is exactly what happened to me when I flew to Orlando, and the food holder thingy was about twice the size of my palm lol

after landing and hanging around in a HOLDING PEN no joke!!! for 2 hours , had to beg for water , NO JOKE!!! they announce OK couldn't find any problems. We will be boarding shortly. I then in the best assertive voice , that was not laced with you gotta be shitten me. I AM NOT GETTING BACK ON THAT ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

In case yall r wondering I had to curl up into a ball and use my feet to suspend myself in midair, ass not touching the seat, for any chance of comfort on all 4 flights. Also I didn’t sleep the night before the first flight so that didn’t help.

Yeah, last time I was on spirit, the flight was delayed 8 hours, they said their was a "maintenance issue" so they had to get a different plane. In that case, it would have literally been faster to just rent a car and drive from Detroit to Baltimore.
Airline delays are usually always maintenance or crew related. Nothing unusual about that.
they had to fix a light on the plane before takeoff. took almost 45 minutes. and youre already uncomfortable in those seats.

I think I’m the only commentor that has had a very good experience with Spirit! I’ve traveled with them six times, and contrary to what people are saying down here, there was no burning smell, no bugs, no weird lighting, the seats were really cushioned, and it was standard class!

DatOneNoder This might just be my motel 6 but it’s FAMOUS for drug affiliation and prostitution. It doesn’t help that it’s right next to a strip club. A lot of homeless people practically live there cause of the cheep cost to stay and a fire truck almost every night goes there to help a druggie. A new fire station is being made like a block away just because of the many calls over there. It’s not a good motel. At least the one by my place isn’t.

You can hear people talking normally in the background and a couple even tries to finish his joke before he says it at the end. It's not a laughing track, they're probably drunk... it's a comedy show. People get fucked up and act belligerent .
Alex I agree. It's likely a comedy show. Everyone is drinking and expecting to laugh and the food and ambience is great. I've been to a few and I can see why some people would laugh at anything there. It's just so inviting.

Loved it! I teach English to Brazilians and I'll try to use this video in one of my lessons.
My story from Spirit: We were in Orlando and bad weather was going to be coming through so we were stuck on the runway. Pilot said we have about 15 minutes before we take off so go to the bathroom if you have to. About 9 people stood up and got in line. Two minutes later, the pilot shouted “We’re good for takeoff, everyone sit down now!” And he just did a full throttle immediately after with basically a 90° climb. It was amazing.
I had a very similar situation at DFW Airport on US Airways. It was a very early morning red-eye on a Boeing 757 to Charlotte. Everybody got on the plane faster than expected. The captain comes on the plane and says, "We don't normally get this but we got number 1 for departure. Before they change their minds, we will try to expedite our departure out of here." The captain sounded excited. We were racing down the taxiways. I thought for a second he was going to try to take off from one of them. We finally got lined up on the runway and we took off. All I can say is it felt like we were headed to the moon, not heading to Charlotte.
