Lori is trouper....1 of guys....you go girl. 😎
Laura seems like such a good sport...you're lucky to have a sister that not only puts up with your shenanigans but participates as well!
That Packard smokes like a drunk Canadian!
My favorite quote is Miles telling Laura “You’re ok. You’re not on fire.” 🤣
Thanks for acknowledging my grandfather, the great race car mechanic ,Rusty Sludge. My family appreciates you. He ain't Smoky..he's Rusty!
I think he used to race against my father who drove a Nash
I believe the rot holes next to the headlights on the Ford affected the aerodynamics
The Stude's bolt on quad pods were also rotted out, so it was a wash.
I really enjoyed that... Back in the day in rural Iowa, those would have been our "good" cars.. Cheers
Had a 50 Chevy Fourdoor Deluxe Sedan in senior year,Not the oldest car either in the lot
Two episodes with Laura in a row! Thanks for sharing the extra footage.
I enjoyed the footage of moving all the cars as much as I enjoyed the race footage. Is there something wrong with me? I loved "Take that, Greta!" most of all!
First a new Strong’s Garage video now some behind the scenes V8 showdown footage. This evening is turning out pretty good. That Victoria is way quicker than I ever thought it would be and the Stude sounds real good. Cheers guys :)
yes.......... a great thursday evening.
Sure appreciate the effort everyone at Cold War Motors put in to these episodes, especially the On Air Talents.
👌🏼 Mint !
🤣🤣🤣🤣I was laughing so hard the dog was licking the tears off my face in between giving me strange looks.🤣🤣🤣 I love Laura. You guys are the greatest! Cheers!
Laura is crazier than I thought! 🤣🤣
Ain't she just!
Take that Greta !
CWM never fails to
entertain and educate at the same time.
All the best!
I am still surprised that Lauras husband was not rolling on the ground laughing. Now, how will you keep her from racing the 37 when she tries it out? See everone Saturday.
The J. Van Winger one word review for Laura is: "BRAVO". For spectacular screen presence and performance, and for it's etymological connection to 'brave'.
Blue Smoke hanging low over the yard......"Take that Greta" LOL!
Can use that Packard for crop fogging. . .bugs wouldn't know what hit em
Laura gets award for bravery ,
Wheeling the Studebaker with the automatic doors
Thanks for the Video , always looking forward to the next one ....
Keep 'em coming !!!
Laura proved that one CAN steer, shift and close a car door all at the same time!
And No brakes!
A lot of work into putting this all together so thank you Scott, Laura and Agents for the great entertainment. That looked so fun. Cheers.
The Studie actually runs pretty well. That engine is so nice now maybe it deserves a car that isn't totally demolished
This was a ton of fun to watch. Glad it all worked out and people had fun and some laughs. Reminds me of the old junkers around the farm we'd rip around the fields in with no brakes when were teenagers. If we could get it to run, that was our fun!
Entertaining as always. Laura always a nice change from all your mugs
"Look George, they're taking cars OFF the property!!!" Your neighbors had high hopes you were leaving for good...LOL
The blurry footage of Miles Newport blasting across the field, reminded me of a 1970's action movie, fantastic!
My brothers and I grew up on a hard scrabble farm by Mt. Rainier. Dad couldn't resist dragging auto detritus from town, over 50 post war to early 60s cars and trucks in the barnyard. When I learned to fly found out the junkyard was a nav point for aircraft. He worked in town so his ride was our gas station, leave enough gas for him to get to work or bam bam. Laying on cardboard on deep barnyard cow mix in the cold rain under vehicles propped on logs and cinder blocks, don't be under them when the herd comes in, I think they bumped into them on purpose. Goats snack on convertible tops. We all grew up tough enough to build our own construction and machine shop companies.
11:00 - "Ask the man who owns one." That moment with that caption would look good on your calendar page.
“I don’t think this thing’d spin tyres on teflon-coated ice” had me gasping for air! Absolute comedy gold! Thanks folks!
You just made the V8 Showdown even better. 👍👍🇨🇦
Home made wheel strap? Just needs a couple of staples to be DOT compliant! If the Mountie's give you a hard time just say the towing equipment is certified for the year of the car!😎
I can see this blossoming into an annual event. What fun to see these heavy old underpowered hulks alive again kicking up dust. Laura is top notch for opening up her place for these shaninagans. Thank you Laura!!You rock!!
That Packard has such a unique deep throaty sound thanks for the behind the scene look 👍😃
"I was listening to the swans migrating" .......I love that girl!
That was a fantastic, "behind the scenes" look at CWM Show. Thank you all for what you do!
Laura has been such a great addition to the 'cast' of your videos! As a handy hint on flathead V8 vapour lock, the trick in WWII North Africa was to cake the fuel pump in a handful of wet mud. Cheers.
"You're in third. I'm in first. Yeah I don't think so.' I'm dying!
Can't believe that Ultramatic operates
It’s almost exactly the same as watching the behind the scenes of Days of Thunder. Dean is Tom Cruise, of course.
It's neat to see these old vehciles come back to life to pour their guts out on a field...special thanks to geared manual transmissions that made the day possible.
A most impressive set of outtakes. The chatter, banter, and laughter between the pit crews and drivers was a pleasure as were the sounds of the Flatty & Stude turning over.
If you guys have anymore fun, the police is going to come and stop it. That was fun to watch. The only one missing was Tom to give running commentary. Here I was going to have a dreary rainy morning at work, but your video cheered me up and made my day. Cheers!
V8 Showdown bonus! Yessss! Cheers! 😎👋🏎🏁🏁
"What a travesty' says Scott. Truer words were never spoken.
And that is exactly what I look forward to seeing every week.
Laura is awesome. Finish up her Rover, she deserves it for being such a good sport
It appears the fresh body and paint work on the Stude survived the punishment .
With the way the Studebaker looks and sounds when idling around it certainly gives off Christine vibes. Like the shot where it idles back into Daryl's by itself. Loved that shot of Miles' Newport as well, that sound will never get boring. How I wish to have been in my 20's when those where worth next to nothing..
That was hysterical! Laura is way too cool. It looks like a good time was had by all. I hope that Myles is healing and recovering well. See you Saturday.
The outtakes were a hoot. Today I learned the Packard ultramatic has the same shift pattern as the GM hydramatic in my 47 Olds...Except Packard had a dedicated park position. If the ultramatics are stubborn about shifting into reverse too then it seems even dumber that Dean lost the race by shifting into reverse...
Hydramatics have a secret Park mode...It's called "have it in reverse with the engine off"...When the front pump pressure stops reverse mode locks the driveshaft.
The crime behind the scenes was absolutely the best, and Laura definitely had no issues putting the Stude through its paces!
just some elderly kids , having some innocent fun. magnificent.
The throaty V8s never get old. Could listen to those all day. Cheers.
With all of Blue Smoke Alberta should be mosquito free LOL that was just fun to watch! Looking forward to Saturday!
Studebaker sounds crisp and staunch , and Myles Newport too , great fun guys , awesome 👍🍻
Scott, complications galore! It took some "serious" practice before Laconic Laura was able to trounce the Vicky! And when the real straight eight showdown came undauntable Dean over selected R a few times. Major hoot all around replete with sketchy equipment at every level! These outtakes really filled in the blanks from last Saturdays episode. Once again early SNL Live on steroids! Cheers to all!!
The Packard is a keeper...oil atomization for mosquito control fogging is more important than any jive coming from Persona Non Greta. Rock on.
"We're not on fire it's okay" 🤣😂
I laughed so much! Thanks guys! I love the quote, "I'm not standing down wind of that"! Good times! Laura is a real trooper. I think she secretly loves every second!
That’s is the real deal , having fun with family and friends, hope you make this an annual thing
"Take that Greta!" That was a hoot!
Is it sick that I really like the Studebaker? I wish I had the money to buy and restore it
It was a one year only model and is quite rare. Now that they put a good engine in it, someone has to restore it. I'd imagine everything but the doors are interchangeable with a sedan.
The jacket you will be wearing this fall has only 1 sleeve for both arms and buckels up the back .
Fun in the field !
My 75 Spitfire had same rad sludge.. It looked like it had every type of head gasket sealer known to man poured in that rad over the years. It healed at least 5 weeping rust stains
Neighbor of the Year! You get my vote. I'd love to have all that old iron and antics around me.
If there is such a thing as a " Best Sister Hall of Fame" your sister should certainly get in on the first ballot! Great fun in this behind the scenes video. Thanks.
If I had that Coral beast, I'd try to find a 413 to drop in there! Guy I knew in H/S 1974 had a green one 1959 Golden Lion 413. 4 door all power windows, ashtray & lighter for passenger, fold down armrest front & rear, pushbutton auto. He had a several cars but no license. So I was his driver. Pristine '57 T-bird tried to challenge, I think the T-bird maxxed out about 115, (this is in MPH), Bill said let's see what she's got. If I remember right I believe we were just a bit over130 when I said, that's enough, I know there was more left when I lifted my foot.
Incredible racing footage!!!! Now the goal is to get both cars street legal, titled, licenced ,and be driven back on the road.(head lights, tail lights, brakes, exhaust, seat belts, and emissions.)
Wow, thanks to Scott & Laura and all of the agents for all of the effort to make this happen. My main takeaway was near the beginning, at around 1:45, getting the Vicky started. Once it was running, the air filter went back on the carb - now that's being a gentleman.
Thanks for showing the out takes!!!! They are fabulous!!!
Love it! Amazing that the flames from your open header cars didn't start any field fires. I sure your Canadian counterparts to the US Forestry Service appreciated that. "Hole Shot Laura" definitely stepped up to the call of duty with her superb channeling of Danica Patrick 😉😂👍👍 Oh, and your neighbors should be thanking you for your "Packard Rolling Blue Cloud Mobile Lubrication Service"...kind of a Biblical reference there, "the people moved their wagons as near the Packard as they could in hopes its blue cloud would pass over them and lubricate their chariot wheels"...I know that's bad but I had to...🤦♂😎🤷♂
That 259 sure runs great. You gotta at least bondo, fiberglass and paint that stude Scott. It deserves it
I do enjoy the Blair witch video style and glad the Gravely finally gets the recognition it deserves.
Touché gentleman!
The neighbors are like oh my God he's finally letting some stuff go and then surprise it all comes back fast forward even more stuff comes in the yard 🤣👍
the old cars out for some fun with loved ones. sure beats the crusher.
“What an absolute travesty!”
“Brakes would make it better.”
Fantastic! Almost as much fun as the Showdown itself! I think you should publish an entire calendar devoted to Laura driving all the CWM clunkers, plus some of the good stuff like the 59 and 60 Furies. Go Laura!!!.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Laura's a peach for playing along with your shenanigans. Next thing ya know she'll be wheelin' a dirt track car professionally.
that looked to be all the fun and great to watch . thanks guys. cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was awesome, Scott!!
"I was watching swans migrate...then "He's hogging the road".....I f'n died.
Damn I love the sound of Myles' Newport!!!
Behind the scenes. The best!!
Three, two, flip off!!! Lol. Nice one😂
Pulling the Stude onto the trailer? Up In Smoke. Loved the behind the scenes. 👍☮️
"take that,Gretta"LOL
That Newport sounds wicked!
Laura shows almost as much appreciation for old cars as my sister does. But she's a better driver than my sister is. I tried teaching sis to drive once, but when she drove over the sidewalk in the parking lot, I figured it was safer for everyone if she stuck to leaving the driving to others😁
Till Saturday, cheers!
That looked like a lot of fun, wish I was there!
❤ that was awesome. Thanks to all the agents who helped. Wish I could have been there to see the action in person. Thanks Scott. ❤👍✌️😎 Cheers
Its a testament to your expertise that none none of the cars exploded (that I know of)
With that hole shot of Laura's in the Studebaker, I think she can take Myles in his Poncho.
Perfect….. love it
On a road trip across the USA so have been slow on the comments. Love the extra footage, especially the Newport.
Myles Port is one of my dream cars!😢😢
" I was listening to the swans migrate and then..." 😂
Excellent video from last Saturday Night Show Down V8 racing Lol and was super too 👌 😄 🙌! See you all on Saturday Night September 30 2023 and what got show on Scott and everyone!
The blooper reel. 👍
Hey Scott! Thanks for the clips! great to see and HEAR those engines! Laura is a gift to the cars! Cheers! Rich
Cheers!
Nice job of organized chaos and getting all the racers on sketchy transporters and keeping everyone and thing safe. Enjoyed watching and hearing the cars. Great escape from the present and into the past. Keep ‘‘em going. Stay away from Delorean ‘s, that would be too easy. Think also it was done before This is true original programming at its finest. Thanks to all. Looks like Laura might be requesting a Smokey ol motor after the Rover is perfected. It could park out beside the cabin or used as a commuter to it .. Thanks.
A photo of you guys loading up that Packard should hang in the 'Classic Darts' set cause it was choochin!
This was so much fun! The 3-2-1 from Myles sent me!
Yeah..Next year mandatory working horn!
Long live the flathead V8!👍
