Yo Scott, I was born and raised in Flint Michigan. Those sweet old Buicks were a staple in our neighborhood. Half of everyone I knew worked for Buick motor division of GM. My Gand mother worked there pin striping wheels back in the 1920s.
I gave 250 bucks for a 49 Roadmaster with a rebuilt engine and trans and rust free body because the man wanted it gone from in front of his house. His son was partying in it every afternoon with his friends. It wouldn't run, had a cracked distributor cap. I put a new cap on it and drove it home twenty plus miles. This was back in 1996. Hearing that Buick was music to my ears.
I used to steal the old man's 49 and pick up the guys and get beers...I'm positive that Roadmaster would do 100 easy but that's the last thing you wanna do with a tank like that. It was 1/4 turn before the wheels steered I had to look THRU that giant steering wheel
Hi guys! Short one today; I had to move the 1950 Buick Roadmaster and the 1960 Peugeot 403 to make room for a hoist for the yard here... Always a good time to hear some of these classic yard cars fire up and move themselves around... Hope you enjoy! See you on Saturday for the SOS... Cheers! I seem to remember that you got the Buick Roadmaster because the transmission was faulty despite having been rebuilt for the previous owner. What's the story?
Comment for the algorithm here. I am old enough to have sat in the back of a 1952 Buick and seen Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (separate years, of course) circa 1965 in a drive-in theater as a circa seven-year-old, drinking a ten ounce bottle of Mountain Dew, while my parents split a six-pack of Budweiser. I remember still being thirsty after the Mountain Dew and told my parents so, and they basically told me tough isht. I countered with, well, you both had three beers each, and I only had one small bottle. Mother's response: Shut up! Oh! And this just came back to me! The East Coast US Summer sun can make the interior of a car pretty hot. Somewhere within the range of being 7 years old I remember purposely getting into our beastly hot 1952 Buick on the hottest Summer Days with the car in direct sun and windows rolled up and seeing how long I could take the heat, baking myself in that car and coming out a sweaty mess. I remember how cool the summer sun felt in contrast after getting out of that car. I guess I am lucky to be here today😂 Thats my Buick Story.
Lt Columbo would be proud of that 403! Good job on the grille on that thing...I thought it was beyond repair, but you proved me wrong. Pity that Roadmaster remained unfinished really pretty Straight 8 action!
Both of these cars are cool, and watching them run -even just to get them safely out of the way- is worth a few minutes of my time. Besides, the antics between that scoundrel Scott and the dutiful Ms. Francine are Thursday night staples now. See you in a couple of days....Cheers!
Hello Scott, Frankers and Camera Girl, I just loved when you picked up and cradled Miss Frankers (belly rubs) She is such a good Girl. Thanks and Cheers!
Those Peugeot 403s remind me of the magazine Chrome and Flames from the 80s where you’d see all these Euro cars with an American hot rod or kustom spin applied to them. As a kid I thought it was super cool and that seems to have been lost now.
That Buick is a beauty! Too bad it missed the Straight Eight Challenge. It would have won going away! What a solid car the Peugeot 403 is. It’s Frankers Approved!
Had an old high school friend who bough a car and knew nothing about it. He couldn't even pronounce the name. It was a Peugeot but he called it a "Peww-Gee-Ott' He was a friend you kept around for comic relief... Like Dean 🙂
I would be very happy to give the Buick and nice dry, warm place to rest with regular exercise weekly. It's too nice to left outside in the Northern Alberta elements. Cash or a years supply of BC Bud.
Congrats on the lift! I love that Buick grille and the Buick in general. That Peugeot clearly wants some love, the way that it fired right up in spite of everything going against it. Now I cannot wait for Saturday. 🍻
The Buick Roadmaster, with the enormous straight 8 always impresses me, as it was meant to impress. Peugeot 403 more utilitarian, efficient and practical for French roads, good car for the time and place and I like them both.
Looked like both them cars tryin' to do right by you...yep...they was glad to see you comin' - they're in the right place now...now they gotta a chance
First it was the forklift, then it was exotic French cars and now a hoist? I subscribed to see poodles chasing squirrels, not watch some social media influencer flex their lavish lifestyle. Please include more French Poodle content in your future productions!
What a sweet little episode. Id love to see thar 403 get a new lease of life, and doesn’t that Buick just wake the dead! Frankers being ultra cute, and a reflective glimpse of the lovely camera girl! What’s not to love?
Scott, nice back to back will it runs starring Frankers! The Buick looks an awful lot like a real high tone daily from what I saw! Cherry straight eight that needs a tune + exhaust but little else. Thanks for the share! Cheers to you and Frankers!
When I was a kid in ND in the 60s the scrap crushers came through town and crushed a bunch of these old cars the farmers had "stashed" behind the rockpiles. Some of them were actually in pretty good shape. But they were considered old Junkers. Thanks for the memory
Ok Scott, when are we going to meet the Lady behind the Camera? We've seen her help push a car, so we know she is a special person to put up with your antics. Just Teasing. No Hurry Really, just when she's ready to make her screen Debut. Cheers.
@@coldwarmotors Great Scott!! I love all your shows. You have made my days for years now! Thank you for all you and the "gang" do and sharing with us!! Rich
Win, win gotta love it when they move out of the way in hopes they too will cruise the blacktop again one day. Hope the ol Buick doesn’t need much to ride beside the 59😊
That old Buick has such a great look to it - those lines, the curves - and that engine! The big straight eight sounds so purposeful and ready for anything. She'd be a thirst old girl, but I'd love to be behind the wheel of that on the open road as I bet it would ride as good as it looks. The little 403 reminds me of 1950s British cars to look at and I have a lot of love for it too. Two wonderful vehicles that are probably way down on the list to put back on the road, but still wonderful to see still moving under their own power - even if it is briefly once every couple of years! All the best
When I was a kid, back in the 1960s, a guy named Jean Shepherd had a radio show on WOR 710AM from New York.. Shep was a storyteller, a humorist in the vein of Samuel Clemens. He was on every night from 10:45 to 11. You can find some of his stories right here on RUclips. (for example: ruclips.net/video/YW9b3e9tFoE/видео.html ) . Anyway, one of his sponsors was Peugeot. Well, there was some special deal, I don't remember what, but if you wrote to WOR to Peugeot you could get a coffee cup with the company name, or something. Anyway, he said, "I know you're all Americans so don't worry about the French spelling just spell it P-O-O-J-O-E and it'll get to me." I still remember that after all these years because it made me laugh.
@Powelmountain - Shep in another 60's vintage radio episode here on YT also had read a couple of commercials for a Rover 2000 or 2.5 I forget which. Even mentioned the price, which seemed to be pretty high for those times. I don't have the link, though. I heard somewhere that Shep had eclectic tastes in automobiles, hence the offbeat car brands advertising on his radio show.
The Buick and the Peugeot both need road time again someday. The engines are cool in both. The Buick for the highway and the Peugeot for errands. Who knows, maybe Dean can flip them and get you $1 ahead in this fun game. Or maybe not. Keep them all
What a perfectly charming old Buick and that 403 is adorable! I remember when you had a lot of episodes that were only this long. My how things have changed! Well deserved changes at that! Thanks for the mid week pick me up.. Cheers to you and the agents!
Scott you have no idea how happy I was to see my old friend of many years. I so love that car just get it road worthy . That engine is brand new all through brakes too. I’m poet lol
Scott, I would nominate the '50 Buick to become your daily (with some work) and give the Frazer a rest in the meantime. Well, that's what I'd be inclined to do but......they are your cars.
Thanks for the mid week lift. Buick looks quite the nice car, considering age. Frankers looks just like a lil person riding in the 403. I'd like to see both driving down the road.
Forget the hoist, you're going to have to build a multi level parking deck before too long :-) Always like to see when Frankers approves of the junker du jour.
It was a Buick 8 that drew me to Coldwar Motors in the first place, the Fury project kept me. This 50 Roadmaster is gorgeous Scott! And I say that 403 is a trip! It's worthy of some love!
Excellent video Cold Water Motors Scott :) & Frankers The Dog 🐕,, also nice getting hoist too and well done also worth it too ! Pay off and less back problems too Scott also see on Saturday Night Show Down Too!

Better rides and shorter lines.

@@glennnickerson8438 The bad stuff was well west of here. Things didn't work out good at all for those poor folks.
Nice seeing these neat cars drive around again. That Buick straight-8 is still a gem.
The 403 deserves a full restoration. Very straight body. I vote to move it up the priority list.
Daily driver material, and Scott can wear a French chappeau.
My friend served in Vietnam and remembers seeing Peugeots like yours in taxi service in Saigon and Hue.
The Pug is a 403
Frankers always makes me smile. What a good girl.

being driven on the road.
Suddenly I feel my age.
Hello Scott, Frankers and Camera Girl, I just loved when you picked up and cradled Miss Frankers (belly rubs) She is such a good Girl. Thanks and Cheers!
Peugeot 403 reminds me of the Volvo Amazon.
If Frankers likes it , its good enough for me.
It must smell of squirrel .
Thanks for the 1950 Buick start up it is motivation for me to get my 50 Buick moving
That str8 "8" sounds like a V8 ...
Love it ...

💯👊👍
The 403 is so pretty - soulmate of the DS. And so different to the Buick (fab in every different way). Greetings from French horn land.
I have said this before in the comments. My mother used to own a 403 but in a dark blue and I very much hope that this can be a project one day
Dude! You really need to throw some attention to the “50” Buick! What a gem!
320 cubic inches with a ground pounding 152 horsepower, and of course harnessed to the good old Dynaflow. No switch pitch in 1950!
Always enjoy some Buick sights and sounds! Cheers! 😎👍🚙🏁🏁
Looked like both them cars tryin' to do right by you...yep...they was glad to see you comin' - they're in the right place now...now they gotta a chance
I’m impressed with that little Peugeot engine. A cross flow head and hemispherical spark plug placement was pretty cutting edge back then.
Cheers!
Congratulations! That hoist will improve your quality of life immensely.

As I watch your work , I keep thinking how rich you are. I'd love to be able to do your work. I appreciate all of your car's. Beautiful in their age.

Yeah a hoist! Now we can really see how bad the fixer uppers are and how good the finished cars are.
It's going to be so useful to take the body off the '59 Buick when the full resto starts.
Wow, that Buick sounds good!
