Spurs Juan Nunez Staying Overseas This Season

- The San Antonio Spurs Drafted Juan Nunez who is said to be a prodigy point guard out of Spain. Nunez would be an excellent playmaking point guard to pair next to Victor Wembanyama. Spurs however, likely can't bring Nunez into the fold this season and more of a draft and stash type player.

@@Sofwarriors I feel if they kept Rob he could have been that Ginobili presence. chaotic offensive threat but an underrated play maker and willing to shift his game to what is needed to win. Score? sure. Playmake? why not. Start? eh you could somewhere else but we want defense and stability, let you keep your creativity and shine with he second unit instead of trying to tame you down for the starting unit.
If he can play in the World Cup, he's as ready as any other rookie to play next season. Aside from contract buyout issues.
He needs to get in the gym though
Maybe the Spurs buy him out, but I doubt it. Most likely, they just let him ride out the final year and bring him in the following season.

When you use the same tools together for years you get a rhythm. Nunez and castle can benefit from growing together but to have 2 facilitators leading under Paul at the same time makes little sense.

Nunez is worth keeping and developing. Even if he plays in Austin get him down here asap
I’d say stash him for a year let him build up more experience I mean the kids already going up against guys like SGA and Dillon brooks

Those days of stashing are pretty much over with the GLeauge. And they will buy out his contract now cause if they wait it will be harder to buy him out. IMO
I imagine spurs have plans A through F cooking right now for PG as the teams sifts through talent in other positions. There's tre jones, jones brother, blake Wesley, FA/Trade for PG, then castle could tryout for the role, draft a PG next year, and finally nunez in spain.
I think Spurs will tank 2024-25 season. Their current first choice PG is Tre Jones and he is not good enough. Castle is not the guy as a PG saviour. Nunez will play one more season in Europe. There will be just tiny tiny improvement in PG position. Since Spurs 2023-24 season was bad. Coming season will be equally bad as well.
Im pretty confident he's better than tre jones. We had our future point guard and let him go smh.
Tre Jones is already as good as he's gonna get and that's not good. The spurs are not going anywhere with this guy.

According to Spurs reporter Paul Garcia, Nunez is currently under contract with both Barcelona and Real Madrid. Juan is reportedly supposed to return to play with Barca, as Real Madrid is not expected to match his contract.
This creates a murky situation, but it appears that Nunez's commitment will be to his Spanish team, at least for next season. Unless something changes, it would be a surprise to see him in Silver and Black next year.

@Jebedia2236 I'm sure he would like to but he didn't say he will, he said he'd like to because he's under contract. Maybe the Spurs will buy him out but he's not the missing piece to a chip this season so they likely let him ride out the year and bring him in the following year.
@@AsItStandsSports I know it’s not like we’re attending for a championship this year at all. But Juan could actually get like 15 to 20 minutes a game as a backup point guard. Compare that to Bobby Clinton who is just drafted to the Timberwolves. He probably won’t get any minutes again and will play in the league yet he still coming over.
