He's singing about the state of California or the L.A. area in particular. About seeing it sink into the ocean after the bug earthquake. Arizona being land locked will suddenly have a bay. MJK lives in a small town in Arizona.

Was going to comment this before I saw so I just liked this comment and hopefully he will review that next! It's called "the golden triad" and it's an absolute masterpiece that is also just like a spiritual awakening for the soul! When it hits you it will make you realize just how genius Tool actually is it will make you realize alot of things about life and how we are all connected and how our own personal egos and our pride are meaningless and in many cases could even cause our own demise.. Tool is on another level compared to almost any other band and NO I don't have to get high to enjoy TOOL..they are like a natural high for me. The whole Lateralus album in my opinion is their best album and is something that will sound amazing generations from now in my humble opinion. Tool is definately like the new age Pink Floyd but they have their own unique style that no other band can imitate.
I think what's grooviest about these reactions is how open people are now to listen to music not in their lane. It makes me hopeful for our future, because appreciating each other is the first step towards caring for each other and actually improving the world.

Jamal - Thanks for entertaining us. You speak the truth!! I'm 56 years old and avid music fan with no real genre on my back. If it sounds good, it is good. I was introduced to them by listening to some bootleg basement, live shows in LA. When Opiate came out I was beyond hooked. To be more specific...this song is about Maynard James Keenans (vocalist) dislike and distaste for the city of Los Angeles. At the time ‘this song was written he and his band mates lived there for several years, Maynard hated it and is the only band member who doesn’t live there now. He moved to AZ like 25 years ago. So when he sings flush it all away he’s talking about LA
Seeing them live for the first time, Aenima tour in '96 at the E-Center in SLC - After that show, I promptly drove to Nampa, ID and saw them again two nights later. Unforgettable.
A recommendation from me to you would be Tool's Parabol as well as Reflection. Both from the Lateralus Album. Thanks again!!

This is my fav Tool song and its awesome watching you enjoy it for the first time..
No dude, he's referencing Bill Hicks and singing about how he hates L.A.
I love watching fellow music lovers falling in love with something new!
That is a cool song. One of their best ever.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤
The first concert I took my younger brother and little sister to was Tool at the International Ballroom in Atlanta on the Aenima tour. I'll never forget it.
You don't know how nice it is to see another Black person give this a chance. Good on you! Welcome.
I'm so glad you're listening to tool! Maynard James Kennan is amazing! A perfect circle is another one of his bands and they are amazing as well. Pet is one of my favorites
2nd fav Tool song..."Learn to swim..." I think here in June 2020 it is definitely being flushed away.
If this is the first Tool song you have heard, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you listen to all their albums straight through. It is a real experience especially for those of us who are. Also you got my sub for listening to this, I love people being introduced to Tool.
