HaYLOHAYLIE1 Fr man 😂 lived there all 2018 and it was... goofy. System of a Down called it toxic and Maynard called it a hopeless fucking hole. Accurate as hell. Tbh we need to abolish and abandon cities all together
I just wish one hardcore politician would be asked , "How are we going to fix Los Angeles, sir or ma'am?" And they'll respond.................... ....flush it down
The entire album, "Aenima," is easily regarded as one of the greatest albums of the 90s... if not the entire rock genre. Beginning to end, this album is completely in-your-face. The song, "Aenima," is based on a comedy skit from deceased comedian Bill Hicks, who described his disdain for the Los Angeles culture. His sketch was a work in cynical irony, as he prayed for Armageddon to strike the area, and he was a fervent atheist.
Yeah. I love how this song contrasts their other stuff. Lateralus is about the utmost heights of human enlightenment.....but then this is basically saying mother nature will destroy you anyway
The reason this song seems so different is because it's based on a classic comedy bit by the late Bill Hicks, in which California gets dropped away into the ocean, forming "Arizona Bay." He was friendly with Maynard and they were planning to incorporate his act as an opener before he died of cancer. This entire album was actually dedicated to his memory!
I really think he should keep Parabol/Parabola in the back pocket. We can get some more deep cuts out of Preston first and have that waiting any time. We all know his mind will explode. What about Eon Blue Apocalypse/the Patient or Rosetta Stoned? Still have the Grudge and Hush and Bottom waiting in the wings.
Although Tool uses an A in front of Enema it is essentially an Enema that he's talking about to flush everything away like an enema flushes out your bowels.
Æ - is an Old English Latin letter. The band is what we refer to as 'creative motherfuckers' and an enema is but half of the reference. mdiem's comment being also correct. God damn I love intelligence.

I remember the first time I heard this track, back on the day it came out, and it instantly became my favorite song OF ALL TIME. And that was without the benefit of knowing what the FUCKing lyrics were about exactly. I think it was the rolling drum triplets that really knocked my socks off. 25 years later and the song is perhaps even more powerful considering the steady decline of our culture and the rise of climate change. Anyway, great reaction and go Seahawks!
Parabola is what turned me from a casual tool fan into a hardcore tool fan. The song is just so fast and hard hitting in such a unique way. Must be paired with Parabol too. It’s like an extended intro and the way it’s meant to be listened to.
This is, and has been for many years, HANDS DOWN my favorite song. Period. Bar none. I love when people find Tool. I wish I could go back and experience that "first impression" moment again.
This is James expressing his disgust for Los Angeles and his reference to Mom is him asking Mother Nature to do her thing talking about California's supposed great quake that will have them slipping off into the Pacific.
That's the song that started it all for me. 1998, driving in my car to San Jose from Fairfield one afternoon, turned on 90.5 The Edge rock station, and heard this song for the first time. Never heard anything like it. I'll never forget it - that day I ran out to Circuit City, bought the album, and listened to it for hours on end. Ever since, I've been obsessed with this band and their unique sound. Can't wait for the next album
Watching you listen to these Tool songs for the first time feels just like I’m listening for the first time all over again! I thank you for that. Very cool.
This is the 1st Tool song I ever heard. I love that lyric "Momma's gonna fix it all soon, Momma's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be". Meaning (at least to me) that Mother Nature will fix our mistakes & misuse of our planet thru natural disasters. Such a great song & album.
Loving these, Tool, reactions! My all time favorite band! Tool's songs come in waves one after another. Not only are the vocals fantastic, but the instrumental side is profoundly amazing.
Hell yeah, he's pissed. Pissed off at the world and the way things are. He's praying for mother nature to bare her wrath and "fix" everything by ending humanity. Dope song.

Not that you need another fan telling you about tool, but Tool time line basically follows: Early years/90s: Opiate and Undertow Albums. These 2 albums are explicit and dark. Especially undertow. They take on subjects of atheism, censorship, and working through suffering. Mid Late 90s: Aenima, which shares a lot of themes with undertow, but you also see Maynard and Tool start to steer away from that "darkness", and make points about being more self-aware. They kind of use rage as a fulcrum for healing. More recent albums from this century: Lateralus and 10,000 days, where most of the songs you've been listening and reacting to. These albums are mostly about healing, altruism, and moderation. Please do some Nine Inch Nails. Not a lot of reaction videos out there for them, but they're a huge band. Try Head Like a Hole, Survivalism (very unique, nothing else sounds like this), and Perfect Drug (best drum solo, EVER). Keep going, brother!
I can't believe I haven't seen "Head Like a Hole" yet on any of these reaction channels, although "Closer" has been done several times. "Head Like a Hole" is a must! And I think "Perfect Drug" is criminally underappreciated. Including the video.
Shay Lyman there different styles. Tool is obviously more advanced in the musical technique. But nine inch nails is I think a little too different to tool. I love them both equally, but tool is definitely more advanced. I love nine inch nails for the rawness of Trent reznors voice and emotional power it brings. Tool has a different kind of sound compared to nin
love to see your expression when discovering new music. definitely need to peep maynards side projects the outsider by a perfect circle and conditions of my parole by puscifer.
Give his other band a try, A Perfect Circle. Weak and Powerless or Pet would be good ones to start with. I also just wanna say I was listening to some System of a Down on here, came across your reaction to Sugar and I've basically watched all your rock reacts in a day or so (starting on the rap ones today, lol). Seeing you discover music that I've known for so long that I've almost taken it for granted, it really gives me a new appreciation for these songs And you're hilarious and have a such a great musical insight, I'm a Faithful subscriber already
Good work as always K A bit of advice...... When the new TOOL drops, don't do a song by song reaction. For your own experience as a being with receptors open, listen to it in it's entirety in your zone.Don't deny yourself that experience. Find something else to flog RUclips.
Love it man, well done :). Just a little context, this album came out in 1996 either during or right after the band had lived in LA for quite a few years. I think the industry and even the city as a whole left a really bitter taste in their mouth and this was just a little catharsis. Edit: Well shit I just read down below this was actually a representation of the Bill Hicks routine which makes a ton of sense lol. But it was my original take from years ago so I'll leave it. Either way cheers dude!
You appreciating these guys music makes me happy and I’m thankful for your reactions to them *thumbs up* Tool is my favorite, Jambi is one of my favorites .. lol
Maybe you could try some old British Punk Rock? Sex Pistols. Something from "Never mind the bollocks" album. _Anarchy In The U.K_ or _God Save The Queen_ are two classics. Or maybe Something from *The Clash* London Calling album _The Guns of Brixton_ or _I Fought the Law_ Just something different.
The way Danny uses the cymbals when "I'm praying for rain" comes in.. you can just feel the waves crashing, they all make you feel the music and create and atmosphere for it.
I love your reaction to this. I could see you really taking the song in and listening. Tool is like no other, period. Their songs are deep and complex, even when they aren't being serious. I first heard Tool, the album Anemia, in 96', at a movie theater my friend worked at. She played the album over the sound system, and we were tripping on mescaline! What a ride! I was hooked ever since♥️🤘
It’s crazy how watching you discover music allows me to almost feel like I’m hearing it for the first time. And that is super rad. FYI, when you were listening to the song passenger by the deftones, and said that you got a tool vibe from it, it was because the singer from tool was featured on it.
Technically he references the sentiments of being embarrassed by consumerist lifestyles, marketing, pop culture, and social significance being a result of our intellect and references the Arizona Bay special since he was close to Hicks who was a dark controversial comic blacklisted in the US up until his death but way beyond his years. Admired for passionately injecting philosophical points of thinking and challanging an audience to a point of screaming in anger hilariously in his Chicago video. It's worth watching one of two bit because tool have songs about him and referencing him. Mostly after his tragic death to cancer in the early 90s Two decent RUclips vids for channel or just downtime Is suggest for substance are Bill Hicks a voice of reason in a mad world compilation. (Long But quality) And just the two minute trailer on the 5 star documentary of his short life American the bill hicks story. 2 minute trailer or full movie if you're bored. Not necessarily relevant to enjoy the music but they compliment each other and tell a story
Its been said here; I'll say them again: Tool - Opiate, Pushit A Perfect Circle - The Pet, and The Package Great reviews! You've reminded me why Iove them so much!

I think when he says mom flush it all away, he refers to Mother Nature, which is so relatable today with climate change accelerating and politicians deflecting scientific evidence

Troy Talbot FACTS!!!! Nine inch nails had amazing songs!! I love each of those songs you listed ! Truly inspirational
Great Tool summation
Nin is garbage compared to tool
Shay Lyman there different styles. Tool is obviously more advanced in the musical technique. But nine inch nails is I think a little too different to tool. I love them both equally, but tool is definitely more advanced. I love nine inch nails for the rawness of Trent reznors voice and emotional power it brings. Tool has a different kind of sound compared to nin
Probably my ALL TIME favorite TOOL track. I love seeing someone’s reaction the first time they hear it. 👊🏽
love to see your expression when discovering new music. definitely need to peep maynards side projects the outsider by a perfect circle and conditions of my parole by puscifer.
The song of thiers with the most heart
That and stinkfist.
Best reaction channel
This song just brings such a primal energy to it and it’s beautiful
Give his other band a try, A Perfect Circle. Weak and Powerless or Pet would be good ones to start with.
I also just wanna say I was listening to some System of a Down on here, came across your reaction to Sugar and I've basically watched all your rock reacts in a day or so (starting on the rap ones today, lol). Seeing you discover music that I've known for so long that I've almost taken it for granted, it really gives me a new appreciation for these songs
And you're hilarious and have a such a great musical insight, I'm a Faithful subscriber already
"Don't Just Call Pessimist, Try and Read between the lines" - Maynard is a Genius
Good work as always K
A bit of advice......
When the new TOOL drops, don't do a song by song reaction.
For your own experience as a being with receptors open, listen to it in it's entirety in your zone.Don't deny yourself that experience.
Find something else to flog RUclips.
I do agree soooo much on that... really that much indeed!
Yer one of the best at this.
THE GRUDGE NEXT!!
I really enjoy your reaction videos because you very clearly love music and often comment on the transitions while having a ton of fun
Their earlier stuff sounds a little angrier. I'd like to see you react to The Patient by Tool!!!! You'd love it!
we've been waiting almost 10 yrs for a new album. welcome to being a Tool fan!
Oh boy im praying for the Tool gods for Preston to react to lost keys/Rosetta stoned!
your tool reactions are so great. nostalgia for when i first discovered them.
LETS GET TO THIS SONG BRO...LETS GET TO THIS SONG!
See what they talking bout...
Discovering Tool is a life changing experience. Your life is henceforth enhanced immensely. Bask in the magnificence that is Tool.
Its both.
You appreciating these guys music makes me happy and I’m thankful for your reactions to them *thumbs up*
Tool is my favorite, Jambi is one of my favorites .. lol
Maybe you could try some old British Punk Rock?
Sex Pistols.
Something from "Never mind the bollocks" album.
_Anarchy In The U.K_ or _God Save The Queen_ are two classics.
Or maybe Something from *The Clash*
London Calling album
_The Guns of Brixton_ or _I Fought the Law_
Just something different.
The way Danny uses the cymbals when "I'm praying for rain" comes in.. you can just feel the waves crashing, they all make you feel the music and create and atmosphere for it.
Haha, been waitin bro. Their older stuff is pretty anygry man. Cant wait for some reactions off Undertow. Crawl Away.
and Bottom, I feel that is such an underrated song.
I had "Bottom" on repeat for months! Although just for Tool at their angriest, can't really top "Jerk-Off".
I was hooked ever since♥️🤘
All about California being cast off into the ocean
Love this song, this band, and his reaction to it. Subscribed.
Hitting those Tool reacts so fast
Kevin Kibbe lightning fast click!
It’s crazy how watching you discover music allows me to almost feel like I’m hearing it for the first time. And that is super rad.
FYI, when you were listening to the song passenger by the deftones, and said that you got a tool vibe from it, it was because the singer from tool was featured on it.
They have a few more tracks like this, such as Ticks and Leeches
After seing a Tool concert I dreammed with it for the next weeks, its a life experience!,,
Stinkfist, or the grudge. Both great tool songs and you will definitely like.
Larry Huntley stinkfist is so fucking awesome
To this day still my favorite reaction videos to watch. Hope Preston is realizing his dreams in life. #gooddude
bout damn time lmao where all my aenima posters at
THE DREAM IS REAL
General Sherman ive be bugging for this reaction for about 2 months now lol
same lol
Thank you for watching this video, this has always been my favorite Tool song!
Mostly after his tragic death to cancer in the early 90s
Two decent RUclips vids for channel or just downtime
Is suggest for substance are
Bill Hicks a voice of reason in a mad world compilation. (Long But quality)
And just the two minute trailer on the 5 star documentary of his short life
American the bill hicks story.
2 minute trailer or full movie if you're bored. Not necessarily relevant to enjoy the music but they compliment each other and tell a story
probably one of their best songs. great base, rhythmic drums, and unique lyrics.
Tool does a cover of Led Zeppelin's "no quarter" check it out bro...you know my taste in music 🎼
Matty Perry that's from their live album Salival it also has my favorite version of Pushit.
If he does No Quarter, it should definitely be the original version from Zeppelin
Jason Allen he should do both and compare them both
I love finding little country and western bars on karaoke night and blasting this song. Lol!
Lyrics in that video is missing all kinds of shit
It was enjoyable to watch you discover this song. One of the best.
When he said they have a new album coming out i went "HA! thats funny".
So.... digging Fear Inoculum or no?
My favorite Tool song! ❤❤
Well, this & Sober.
When he spazzes out and hold on bro i lose it haha
afficial83 hell yeah. It’s the best
Its been said here; I'll say them again: Tool - Opiate, Pushit
A Perfect Circle - The Pet, and The Package
Great reviews! You've reminded me why Iove them so much!
I think you've said something about following TOOL only with Pink Floyd. So you may as well do the Dark Side of the Moon binge. It's only 46 minutes & will fill a void in your life you didn't know you had.
So true.
in 1998 i heard this song on 99x and was blown away. HAD to buy the cd, glad i did
Check out A perfect circle.....Maynard is the voice of several bands, all great
Preston: it sounds like somebody pissed them off
TOOL: everyone
I'd love to see you react to Judas Priest - Victim of Changes and Judas Priest - The Hellion/Electric Eye
This song is amazing. One of my favorites from TOOL.
I think when he says mom flush it all away, he refers to Mother Nature, which is so relatable today with climate change accelerating and politicians deflecting scientific evidence
Mike Bear talking about L.A and the shit that people represent these days .
Flush it all away ...
Lol man made climate change. Baaaa sheepboy. It’s nature, that’s what science believes, at least the ones not getting gov funding.
Good to see how genuine music is still being appreciated.
