ALso, this is one of Tool's dirge-iest sounding songs, in parts, I love how they transform and emerge from the more straightfoward metal/rock parts into the more ambient, dirge like sections. I watched your vid on 46 and 2, and this is the 2nd vid of yours I am about to watch. Kind of unbelieveable that you have never heard this song before. Welcome to all of Tool's Awesomeness.
The delicateness and nuance of Danny's percussive choices in this song always blow me away. I mean really listen to what he's doing from 8:05 on for about 30 seconds. ALso, this is one of Tool's dirge-iest sounding songs, in parts, I love how they transform and emerge from the more straightfoward metal/rock parts into the more ambient, dirge like sections. Brilliant stuff, probably their angriest song, at least lyrically until Ticks & Leeches.
The delicacy of your words choice is astonishing.
They have a good number of angry songs in Undertow as well, though not as musically complex as Aenima
Instrumentally, Triad feels like the most angry song for me
Clearly you never listened to Opiate. So much angrier! lol
@@TheRealGhutts there best in my opinion
Yeahhh man so I woke up at 4am and spent most of the last 2 hours becoming a TOOL fan with you
Welcome and enjoy Tool. It may take some getting used to and the Lyrics at times can get fully R rated, so not all their songs will appeal to all.
Really appreciate all you have to say about my fav band. I find myself seeing them in a different light when through the eyes or another, especially one with the background of yours.
Keep up the great work. Love your channel.
Thank you Jay :)

@@unitedivide2789 ... Yes... The Remedy.
15:06 "feel the changes coming" My man is now speaking in tool lyrics.
An underrated comment!!
This whole album was dedicated to Bill Hicks, but this song in particular was inspired by some of his bits. Genius paying homage to genius if you ask me!
I've heard this song a thousand times and I still get goose bumps where you did.
I would love a reaction to H or Jimmy off this same album!
H is awesome
Yes! I love H. And Jimmy Ænima album is a goddamn masterpiece
@@lopolik yes. Yes it is
@Siegfried Sieger yeah they go well together.
H for sure!
Always so pleased to see another of your videos pop up on my feed. Rock on, Geebz. We love to see it!
Awesome! Thank you!
Love it. Keep it up. I don’t mind the pauses. I know the songs as I’ve listened to them a thousand times.I’m not musically trained so your breakdown gives me a better understanding on what is going on in a particular song. A better appreciation of the talent. Love the channel. You are doing something no other “reactor” is doing out there.
Please react to Tool’s “Ticks and Leeches,” “7empest,” “Invincible,” and “Descending”
As a guy who keeps talking about drums, Ticks & Leeches is a must.
Invincible is always on my playlist when I hit the gym.
As a bass player I appreciate your reactions. Not the typical "music is good" and "guitar go vrooo" reaction. Very thoughtful reactions in terms of what the musicians are doing and the importance of production
Mate keep it up. Love what you do and never apologize for stopping. That’s why we are watching!! 👍👍👍
Pronunciation is "Ah-Nih-Muh" with first syllable accent.
Thanks for doing this one!
Thanks Tony :)
The title Ænima is a combination of the words 'anima' (Latin for 'soul') and 'enema', the medical procedure involving the injection of fluids into the rectum.
@@gunofbrixtonz probably from the Carl Jung anima and animus.
It's awesome to see the birth of a Tool fan experiencing these songs for the first time
Man I LOVE the take on your videos, breaking them down and having a very educated and professional approach to music. It’s a pleasure watching!
You're absolutely right about cans, your videos are the first time I've listened to Tool with this quality of headset, and it really does make a difference. Booster rockets is a good analogy. Thank you for doing what you do.
-Taylor
Yes! Finally my favorite Tool song.
Such a trained ear, man. I love how you know all the things to ignore so you can just divide the pieces of the sonic pie, taking a bite wherever you want. The ending of a phrase "lick", pushing Maynard back so you can hear everything as a whole, etc. Love it, brother, easily my favorite reaction channel now
Duude you are awesome! One of my favorite songs right here.
As someone who grew up listening to Tool, it's so interesting these days watching people listen and react to them. I don't think I've ever taken them for granted, but seeing it as you see it, through a different lens, is refreshing and reminds me why I went down the rabbit hole in the first place. What an awesomely strange human habit that is. Keep going.
My mom had this album when I was younger and I absolutely adored it. She wouldn't let me listen to all of the songs (I was 7-8 at the time) and definitely didn't understand what the songs meant, but to this day this is my favorite album by Tool. Thank you for all your wonderful reviews!
Your mom rocks!
Good parenting right there. Im thinking Hooker with a penis might of been one of the censored one's
@@melian9999 possibly stnkfist and eulogy too
My youngest daughter digs Tool. She’s sixteen now.
(English is a foreign language for us so I didn’t apply censorship. Though at this age she’s practically bilingual.)
The eldest is more middle of the road, I’m afraid...
You know, when I first heard the song, I interpreted as L.A.'s "enema" from the lyrics. Example being: "Flush it all away". It's like a way to start over and try again, flush out the toxicity, let us rebuild.
Yessss tool army friend checking in! Cant wait for “right in two” and “jambi”...my faves!
Love the way you break these songs down! Really cool to have a composer break these songs down! The tempo and riffs is what makes tool so cool! Nice to see someone appreciate it also!
I'm jealous of your first time hearing, this song is a masterpiece and spoke to me VERY loudly in feeling and lyrics in high school. And i played it very loudly for others to hear many times!
"Maynard bringing the people elbow.up the middle" reaction gold.
I couldn't tell you how many hundreds of times I've listened to this song, and it still gets me so hyped every time!
You should be in an arena when they do this live, the energy and intensity of the band and the audience is insane
Man, I went down a rabbit hole with you. I really apricate your videos, I fell in love with tool due to their production value, so it's cool hearing this coming from another production nerd.
I was just thinking the other day THIS was the song I most wanted to see you do. I was actually going to comment the next time one of your videos came up in my feed. 👍🏼👍🏼
This man knows his stuff and it's amazing bro see a fresh reaction. Thanks G 👌
Love the content man and I really enjoy your composer POV compared to other reactions. I think it helps shed light on even more aspects of the music that others may not even think of!
Glad you like the vids Easton! Have a chill weekend!!
When the mix has Maynards vocals literally swimming thru the headphones as he sings learn to swim, is the coolest thing about this song for me!
As a drummer of 20+ years, I gotta say, I love finally seeing reactions from someone who knows and respects what goes into a song. I see so many guys fly right over specific musical sections because their honed in on the lyrics. Keep up the great work man. 🤘🏼✌🏼
Thanks Joe!
I couldn't keep time if i was watching a goddamned digital clock. shoutout to the drummers of the world!
Thank you , brother! I wish the best to you and your family. May the surf always be kind to you and the passion to find that "perfect" wave never leave your soul.
That "held down note" is just Justin's crazy FAT bass sound and how Danny tunes his drums
YES! My favorite Tool song🖤It is exactly how i feel about this whole world right now.
What a wonderful tribute to the late great Bill Hicks.
I was in nashville last year and some parking attendance saw my tool sticker on my window of my car, and it was so cool they started yelling "tooool fuck yeah man", so nice for them to notice. It's like an instant connection.
The People's Elbow ... lmao. The Rock would be so proud!
Can you smell what Maynard is cookin?
You're awesome, man! I wish I could sit down with you for even just one day and learn everything I can from you.
Awesome breakdown as usual! I really like how you described the drumming. I've always thought how incredible the mic'ing and engineering has been on their songs, really one of those bands that it's great to listen with headphones. Mahalo!
My second viewing of your channel. The first one was your reaction to the kids covering 46 & 2. I have been a tool fan since 1992 and i just had to see your take on their musicianship. Thanks for your videos. You're awesome.
11:28 in, you say “Cymbals are never mic’d on their own...” The entire Songs for the Deaf QOTSA album, Grohl’s cymbal tracks were mic’d individually.
Man, I love to watch your reviews. Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
You give best reactions to Tool. Love the fact you don't do the lyric breakdown. You immerse yourself in the experience.
Keep em’ coming man, love these videos! Aloha from Scotland! 💙🏴
Hey man. Really digging your stuff. If you're looking for recommendations on interesting music I'd love to see your take on "jartað hamast (bamm bamm bamm)" by Sigur Ros. They are a great Icelandic band who normally do some very soulful music but this song is just incredible. It's just the best song ever to listen to with headphones. I'd love to hear your take.
I have seen Tool live a few times and spend most the time at the show with my eyes closed, enjoying the music!
The rhythm is “pass the got damn butter”
I see, someone watched Chancellor's video
My all time favorite.
Finally heeding the words and moving from California to Arizona hopefully in the first half of this new year. Spent seven years on Oahu. So nice detour.
This song is so appropriate now.
Good gawd it is.
I remember a mate telling me these guys were ahead of their time... Boy how little he knew lol
Also right in two
Yes...yes...doesn't make sense though..Maynard is a huge liberal
So am I, but it does make sense.
I’ve never listened to tool nor seen your channel. Now, I can say after diving in at nearly 5am EST, I’m a fan of both. Thanks for using your life experience to provide us less inclined in music an insight into something I know nothing about.
Don't just call me pessimistic, try to read between the lines. I can't imagine why you wouldn't welcome any change my friends.... The most important lyrics in this song, that most don't "hear".
They hear, they just don't listen.
Pleeease give a breakdown of Jambi ! You'll love time signature !
A Tool fan is always changing his top#1 Tool song... depending on his mood !
Mind blowing tune and intense lyrics. What more can you say?
Booster Rockets! Another great reaction brother. I’ve heard this song 10k times and it’s the dynamics as with most tool songs that really drives their point home. Keep it up and great haircut.
This was the second song they played at the Pepsi Center in October of 2019. My friends and I may have taken some Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. 👀Incredible analysis my dude!
May have...nice! Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds! Excelent im gonna use that!
@@NHHUNTNH not to mention the next song they played was The Pot. They tuned down to Drop C for Maynard to sing in a lower range. The guitar tone was absolutely disgusting! Adam has the best live tone I’ve ever heard. I hope Tool writes songs in C more often🎸🤘
@@NHHUNTNH the Beatles may have beat you to it by about 50 years
Watching Tool is awesome. Watching Tool under the influence of mind altering substances is other worldly.
@@ecbrown6151 haha yup they sure do. Admittedly i dont know many beetles songs. I thought that was so clever...🙄
I really appreciate your technical breakdowns. It does give me new ways to look at my favorites
