Thanks for the story and tour of Bamburg and the area. I wish I would have known about Altenburg when we were there in 2021. Now I have a reason to return! The most interesting facts for me was that Bamberg has 13 breweries in the city and 60 plus in the near surrounding area. Thats a lot for a population of 60,000. Beer capital of Germany. There is a story about Schlenker brewery got its new name and it's a good one. I won't spoil it for you, and I hope you investigate the story, its unique!
We discovered your channel a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed watching your travel videos. We literally just arrived back in the States after a visit to our younger son, who lives in Pressath, near Grafenwöhr and Weiden. We decided to visit Bamberg while we were there since it’s only an hour and 20 mins away, and we were well prepared because of your video. Since we only had a few hours to spare, we spent a lot of time around the old Rathaus, had lunch at Schlenkerla to try the delicious Rauchbier, stufffed onions and roasted pork shoulder--which we all enjoyed! We then took a quick peek of the Bamberg Cathedral before heading back to catch our return flight. Very impressive, and we have shared your channel with our son and he intends to go on some of your recommended hiking tours next year. Keep up the great work, we may consult if we push through with our plan to return in the summer.
I’m currently in Bamberg and am refreshing my memory with sights to see this visit. I was here only once before and definitely LOVED the Rathaus. I had the hike to the castle and Biergarten in mind when planning this trip last winter, but an ankle surgery has reduced my mobility too much for me to undertake that highlight this trip. So-today will be the Neu Residenz and Cathedral, around some beer tasting and eating local Franconia specialties. Alas, I should have scheduled at least another day here! I Bamberg! This city as well as Wuerzburg are two of my absolute favorites in Germany!
You capture the charm and beauty of Bamberg in a genuine and amazing way! It was my hometown before I came to the US almost 25 years ago. I'm not lying when I say my heart has firmly remained there, as well as in Upper Franconia in general! Its beauty and deeply rooted traditions are indeed exceptional.
❤ this video so much. Not fitting Bamberg in on our upcoming trip but the video does such a good job of showing what a beautiful town it is. Have been there twice before years ago and if we would have fit it in we were going to go to the castle so I was super excited you showed that. 👏👏👏 Thanks for your help on our itinerary coming up in a few weeks, I'm sure we will simplify it more once we get over there.
How you guys don't have 50K subs I'll never know. Great feature of the Altenburg location, nice find. I have had German and Canadian rauchbier but not yet on draft. It does pack a smoky punch, sounds like the local beer from the tap can be lighter in flavour profile. Maybe In August I will find out? Loved that great Wilde Rose garden and the ceramic stein is very practical too. I find that it protects the beer from the UV rays if in the sun which can quickly produce that "skunky" smell. Look forward to the next food/drink video!
Lived in Schwienfurt for 8 years use to go to Bamberg when it's brewery had its summer festival, use to stand on that bridge late at night and watch the bats hunt for dinner
Absolutely fantastic video! The river path and Wilde Rose Biergarten looked awesome! We definitely would have eaten the pfand and kept the stein too...🍻
It's lovely to have a video on Bamberg. I went there briefly once in 1997, and had my handbag containing my new camera and my passport stolen while I was there. So I left very abruptly to go to Bonn and get a new one. Hence my memories are a bit - limited.
For musicians Bamberg is also a good place to stay over night, because than you have enough time to visit one of the biggest European Music Stores and online businesses on a weekday. It‘s located in Treppendorf which is not that far from Bamberg. And beside being one of the biggest of not _the_ biggest online seller for music gear and being the biggest employer in the village of Treppendorf where employees easily outnumber citizens, they have still a store you can visit and play some instruments before you buy them. That was my favorite waste of time when I visited Bamberg regularly for business purposes. But yeah, the city of Bamberg is also very nice. 😉
Sure hope @dw reaching out for you very soon to introduce you to a much larger audience your always excellent content really deserves. I just love your positivity! ❤❤❤ Wonderful and highly enjoyable vlog (as always, btw) !!!!! As a native German and local resident, I can literally feel the positive vibes you've been spreading.......
Thanks so much! We love DW, especially their travel videos.:D That would be a dream. Although, I've noticed they really only work with channels that have hundreds of thousands of subscribers and views. I think we will always be a pretty small channel. One can dream tho hahah
Hi, love your videos actually going to southern Germany in June because of your videos--the German Tourism Office needs to sponsor the two of you! But a question regarding Bamberg...was planning to visit the beer garden at Altenburg but when you Google it you get that it is permanently closed?? Any info?
You are correct. I just realized that its the indoor restaurant that's closed permanently and the beer garden is just temp closed for the winter. Much happier now! Thank you for your reply. @@NearFromHome
Thank you for your videos. I immediately thought about adding Bamberg to my upcoming Europe trip. Having a beer at Altenberg castle sounds magnificent. Who wouldn't like the combination of beer and castle. While Googling it, it mentions that the restaurant has permanently closed. Is that different than the brewrey? Do you know if you can still get a beer at the castle today?
Great video! I'm heading to Bamberg in ~ 2 weeks. So excited for the Rauchbier & sights. But.... was that woman pregnant and drinking? Yikes, if it wasn't 0.0 Alkoholfrei or just posing for photos.
As someone growing up around Bamberg, i really appreciate this Video, and Love that our City gets some Love, thanks Mate ❤
Thanks so much! What a great place to grow up.
Me too

We need to make it out to Würzburg. :D
The Wuerzburg Residenz is fantastic, and Festung Marienburg has a great collection of Tillman Riemenschneider carvings.@@NearFromHome

What time of year was this? The roses are stunning.
Two weeks ago lol. So early June.
We had only unfriendly service in Restaurants, the smoked beer was not to our taste. The town is beautiful.
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes Germans just come off as unfriendly. Definitely experienced both. :O
What you can Drink in Bamberg is a schlenkela ^^
we did in the next video!
@@NearFromHome OK
That i living in Bamberg ^^
Your gf, partner, or wife, reminds me of Eva Green. I haven't watched enough of your videos...yet, to know what y'alls relationship is.
