No. There was a food store that had been at that location since the 60's but it closed and then the next store, selling expired food, moved in. Sounds like they stopped paying rent almost immediately after signing. The health department needs to do a full blown investigation and find out if anyone was injured because of the expired food, who those people were and levy a fine for this store opening with an expired license. Hopefully evidence was collected during cleanup of the meats. That way a manufacturing date can be determined so a sell by date can be confirmed. The people involved with owning this store need to go to prison for a time.

There is a wholesale food supplier in the Minneapolis, MN area that supplies food to many small grocery stores in Western Wis. I have noticed numerous times over the last 12-13 years that 5 stores in two cities here have received food that was already outdated when it was delivered. The stores have to pay for the food--much of which they have to throw out. The profit margins for these small stores are already thin. This really hurts--both the local stores and their customers. We need to go after these suppliers. In the case of this store, they appear to be fraudulent from the get-go.

This exact same thing happened here in st. Louis mo. A place called Seafood City. Last march health dept shut tbem down. They evacuated the building, had the power shut off and left a fully stocked store, every shelf, and even tons of seafood, and related items in all the coolers, and freezers. Wrll come mid summer there was a stench in the sir, and it kept getting worse. Swarms of flies everywhere, as well as bugs and what not. Come early september local residents were fed up, and the the smell was traced to seafood city. There was over 4 tons of rotting seafood inside the fridges. The smell could be smelled for miles, it was so bad that a biohazzard crew that cleans up crime scenes had to take on the task of cleaning all that mess up. Its sickening that people let food go to waste when so many dont have anything to eat. Tbe whole store was cleaned out from top to bottom. Even all the dry goods on the shelves were tossed into dumpsters, and many rummaged through them to retrieve the dry psckaged goods. Police were bought in to patrol and rid dumpster divers off. Just so sad.

as far as the food license if it was 2 weeks out of date, given the missed payments and such, its not hard to imagine that happening.
outside of the cold foods, idk how the other stuff could have any reasonable excuse for being expired beyond the time frame of the store being closed.
(cold foods because the place was shut down. i assume it wouldnt have too long of a shelf life. other shelf foods would normally get thrown out after it expired. which has to be checked often.)
in any case, there shouldnt be a reason the store was behind payments of that amount unless its prior income was in that range.
(buying 400k worth of stock because it gets sold fast enough to make well over 400k in sales.)

I found a can of chicken that was really bloated in his section and i looked at the date and it was expired by 4 years already. when i first started there a couple of people i worked with at my former stocking job(walmart)asked me where i was working now and when i told them they said, oh, the place with the expired food on the shelf, i learned quick what they meant. i didn't stay there long. .

Dollar tree stores in Canada sometimes have non perishable foods that have been chewed open by mice. Most stores put food items on sale at discount prices when the items are getting close to expiry dates and stores prepare to restock with new inventory. Most expired non perishables are donated to food banks and charities that give out free food to people in need. I have found expired foods by the cases in dumpsters and taken cases of those expired foods home for my own use. I live far below poverty due to forced loss of employment and loss of income. I have the right to file lawsuits in my current situation. I had previously discussed the matter in a phone call with a court prosecutor and explained in detail the ways that I have been mistreated by several city officials including police, bylaw and the city's parking authority. I have starved beyond the average timeline for a person to starve to death in which I had suffered from malnutrition and currently have possible mental health problems related to living destitute and being unable to afford any of the basics. I have resorted to garbage picking and I pick bottles and cans to make a very small income. Basically it takes me 15 hours of bottle picking just to make $20 cash at a bottle depot when taking in empties.

Not unusual to have a place like this that get free expired food
Many commercial stores have so much expired foid, not as much as back in the 80s, now that msg is in everything, but still a lot of big chain stores have a lot of produce and fish and meat that expires and they usually give it to shelters and food banks.
Places like this will make contact and send a truck and pick up the expired food and just stock their shelves with it
I worked for a large chain store that had a meat manager who was just insane and he would order so much more than we could possibly sell and I remember one summer we got a truckload of 200 cases of hot dogs. 24 to a case, 4800 packs of hot dogs and they last about a month back then and we only sold about 10 cases and I remember the food pantry came and we gave them 14 cases of ballpark beef hot dogs never opened and they had just passed the expiration date and they were completely fine to use if you use them within the next few days.
you would be shocked how many times managers worry about running out of something and they will over order to the extreme and the store winds up having to throw away all of that food.

    • @user-zp7jp1vk2i
      @user-zp7jp1vk2i 6 месяцев назад +1

you'd think Head Office software would catch that and ask some questions. The manager is in a panic and stressed so it's his reaction: he's in over his head. Even Food Banks CANNOT hand out expired food, under law.

    • @ocsrc
      @ocsrc 6 месяцев назад

@@user-zp7jp1vk2i I dealt with our regional food bank and almost all the food was expired from grocery stores. The hot dogs would have a date code and they would be given a away to the food back the next day after we pulled them from the shelves.
Produce, we used to have a lot of spoiled produce, but that was before everything came prepackaged.
I really liked being able to have a giant pile of grapes or cherries and go through them one by one and get the best ones. There was a lot of the bad stuff that people would leave on the shelf. Now, they put them in sealed packages and the customer gets stuck with half the package being bad. They maximized their profits because there is zero waste. They sell every single thing they pick.
And we used to get sides of beef and cut it in the back room. The meat, poultry, pork, only lasted 3 days before it would spoil.
In the 90s they began injection of MSG often reference to it was " salt solution " " this package contains up to 8% salt solution "
And once the meat processors and poultry companies and pork companies began injecting every item, it lasts for weeks on the shelf, but it tastes so salty.
The first time I got a chicken like that I called Purdue and said something is wrong, cleaning solutions must have gotten into the chicken.
They said," no, we now inject salt solution into all our products to increase shelf life "
Now, about the only way to not get msg is to go to a local farmer that butchers their own cows and chickens, but the government has created so many restrictions, it is impossible for farmers to do this any more.
I remember going to Kutztown and the farm week and they literally slaughtered animals out in the open to show how they did it and it was completely normal.
Most people in the area were farmers back then.
Even if you have chickens for your personal consumption there are a ton of rules that you have to obey.
The local farmers that still feed their families this way stopped selling on the side to friends because the government will put you in prison for doing it.
The big meat and chicken and pork industry have a strangle hold on the country
      The same thing for fishermen
I remember restaurants all along the coast that had lobster traps and they caught right out in the back of the restaurant and fishermen and clamers and lobster men would sell you right off the boat.
If you went to the dock when they were coming back in and said I need ten 3 pound or bigger Lobsters, they would sell them to you for 10 dollars each. Sometimes 5 dollars each.
Depending on what they had and how many you were buying
The restaurants would have a double lobster dinner with fries and a vegetable and soup and salad for 9.99
      Those days are gone.
Huge international corporations now own all the ocean off the coasts.
If you are caught clamming or lobster fishing or crab or even just fishing for Cod they will arrest you and confiscate you boat and everything on it.
      Very 😢😢😢😢
      I miss those days
People used to fish every day and feed their families with what they caught.
Now they use giant nets that catch everything and what the can't make a lot of money off , like salmon or lobster or cod, they grind up and make cat food or animal feed for poultry companies.
      Seriously
It is horrifying what has happened to America
And our oceans are getting bare
You used to be able to throw a few food pellets right off the dock and use a hand net and scoop out 2 or 3 Cod from the docks
And clams were everywhere along the shores as were crabs and lobster.
But now it is hard to find a single clam
We used to see crabs walking around the shores.
      All that's gone

Canned foods and soda usually last a few years. weird. In the 90s there used to be a Winn Dixie in Irving, TX. Most of the egg cartons had a damaged egg, bread had mold. Like the employees werent keeping up with the stock. They closed down not long after that.
