    Hi Stuart, haven't had the RX 101v long. Pretty difficult to sort out settings, so have followed your setting guide ins earlier video, thanks.Love your manual F4 Setting.
    The manual that arrived with it is the size of the yellow pages which I am avoiding with terror. My problem so far is with the high speed bursts, I only get one shot, the first one I guess. I am using an Extreme PRO 170MB/s SD,XC 1, 3X 10 128 GB Card. Have used a couple. Could you advise me if I have a card problem or a setting problem, please. Thank you Stuart regards John

    This is such an amazing camera. Mine frequently suffices instead of a bag of full frame lenses... it's that good. Yes I've learned how to use it; and I'll bracket some shots that I wouldn't bother bracketing with my D850. Video is brilliant too, except when it drifts in and out of focus for no reason at all... so I need to lock focus once it's "in". I should probably upgrade to the new firmware.

    Aaaargh this bloody weather. I need some good light. It’s not often I go out with a specific topic in mind to shoot, due to time constraints. There's one question I have in mind, how much of a difference does it make on the RX 10 IV compared to the RX 10 & 10 II while shooting in low light scenarios at maximum zoom end (f4.0 vs f2.8 constant through the range)? Would you say it's a big trade off? Or does the RX 10 IV have a trick up it's sleeve? Or does it just not matter in particle use scenarios? Both in stills and videography. I have the RX 10 as I have mentioned in my previous posts and I love the fact that it's light intake doesn't change as you zoom in. Kindly shed some light on it or even better if you could make a comparison video on this topic educating your followers better. You are awesome keep it up.

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  4 года назад

      Umer Khayyam Khan no idea I’ve only ever had the rx10iv but the rx10iv is a much better camera all in all . The rx10iv is all about speed and af speed compared to the earlier versions . Focusing speed doesn’t ever change really at any End of the zoom range. Light wise it works well it’s at 24 to about 50 is f2.4 then f3.5 at 70-100 then it’s f4 right to 600mm . I’ve never worried about it’s performance it works very well

    • @the_matchless
      @the_matchless 4 года назад

      @@sjm.photos hmm I see. Well not just speed, is overall picture quality is also much superior to the RX 10, not sure if it's better than the RX 10 II and that too in all lighting conditions so far as I have gathered from my online research. The corresponding f numbers you've shared do help so thanks for that. I wish to get the latest in RX10 whenever I can. Still if you do ever get a chance then go consider making such a comparison video. It might as well be the first as I haven't seen any other so far.

    I've used my mark iv now for around 4 years, its been the most superb camera I've ever used, way better than anything I had in my old SLR days and a perfect field camera where weight was important - with the one amazing lens to do everything. Its been to Africa on safari, the Arctic and many other extreme places from freezing to serious humidity. Fantastic the whole way. yesterday I was using it as usual, and suddenly the screen and eye viewer went dark - all the data is still visible, but no image coming through either...its like the sensor has failed. The camera wants to take long exposures as it thinks its in a dark situation...almost like the lens cap is on (which its not). Has my camera finally carcked it? Should I buy a new one or is this fixable? Probably well over 50,000 photos taken on it. if a markV was around the corner, there is only two things I'd like upgraded - love the F stop to go to 22, and not just 16 and for the ISO to go higher, and a tad less grainy at the 12,000 (That said I usually shoot at ISO 1000 and well less). But I know on both counts I'm lucky to have what the Mark IV already offers!

      that has seen some action for sure can you see if the shutter is still closed its a leaf shutter so lt looks like the aperture blades normally. it could be jammed closed. go into menus and reset the camera a reinitialisation which will take it back to the day it came from the factory. firmware will stay the same but you will lose all custom settings. but will also recalibrate everything if that doesnt work its off to sony service centre. for a look. but for example a new lens is £650 to replace not sure if the shutter mech is part of the lens. hope that helps

    Hi stew .. my Sony ex 10 dropped .. now jammed makes the horrible noise .. i’m not gonna send it in. I can’t go that long without my camera. I’ll go crazy because it’s in two days and I’m like Eric Cartman right now. Feel like it’s been 10 years but the question to ask you because you probably are by far away the expert and you have boots on the ground experience disassembling the camera see if probably an idea of the inner internal workings if you were like in a desperate situation to try one thing like I’ve been trying to turn it on turn off I went through all the reset take the battery out a position or maybe I should try to pop it back in place whatever it is really hard. I turn it off and let the camera sit up. It will jam down like three times in a row like it will try to close itself with force three times in a row but like only at like a quarter or half inch at a time they will go all the way down and then it will try to bring itself back up. It will bump up like a quarter inch and then drop right back down drop up and then go back up a quarter inch and then come right back down, I was wondering if you had any idea what I should do I don’t care if I gotta throw it up in the air and catch it. I’ll try anything at this point thanks man.

    Like you, I've had my rx10m4 for 2 years and love it, I don't use my 1Dsmk2 much any more.
    One thing I did run into was the shutter half way down sticking which freezes the camera.
    I searched and found peterlution's youtube about it last month while I was traveling, and was able to restore operation using both a hairdryer and finger tapping.
    I did need to do it twice though.
    Recently I updated to 2.0 firmware and it's fine, but just today, the shutter button problem happened again as I was miles from home.
    No hairdryer, but lots of finger tapping on the shutter button restored it in time to photograph a golden eagle feeding 30 meters away.
    I have never had a camera with a problem like this, I hope they can fix this before the next model comes out.
    I also wonder how long to apply the hairdryer, I used 30 sec each time (long enough?)
    I enjoy your videos and always learn something new when I watch them.

    I got the camera, based a great deal on your recommendation. I really like it. There are two things that I would see changed but these are pretty specific to my issues. I’m trying to not only there in the camera but some basic photography things. So I set up a shot with the camera in aperture mode so that I could one by one click the aperture ring and see what each picture look like. Because you can read everything you want to but you have to actually experience what it does. The biggest issue in doing this is every time I click the aperture ring I move the zoom ring. This is my fat fingers not a folder the camera, so I kind of wish I could just turn the zoom ring off while I’m doing this.
    I also have trouble with the control wheel/rotary dial. Again this is kind of my issue. I have a bit of numbness from nerve damage in my right thumb And I can’t always feel the wheel. And so I have to actually look at it to make sure my thumb is on it. When you’re looking quickly it can be hard to see. I actually kind a wish it was white.
    But again these are my issues.

    • @sjm.photos

      in the menus swap the zoom from rear ring to front ring then the rear ring does manual focus instead, you mean the dial on the back of the camera right of the screen. tipex it ? would then be white but non permentant in the long run. could be removed with alcohol later if needed.?

    The New RX10M5 should have the new curved sensor that allows more ligh to be gathered therefore, it'll have better low light capabilities and will allow much higher ISO's with reduced image noise.
    The main reason there hasn't been a mk5 version is because if one were to include today's technology within the camera it would easily cost well over $3000 and I am sure they know they wouldn't sell many of them as who is going to spend over $3,000 for a bridge camera.
