As a Cubs fan, I hate Cardinals fans with the heat of a thousand suns. But, goddamnit, they know and appreciate baseball.

It's so cool. And I just started appreciating this. Dan was also wrong about "2 years ago" -------------- Last year during the college world series I was naturally interested in watching because of the Dylan Crews / Paul Skenes hype and the Pirates having #1. LSU Paul Skenes and Wake Forest Rhett Lowder was one of the best baseball games I've watched. And I prefer big offensive games. But knowing that these two studs were dueling was just crazy. I'm so happy as a Pirates fan and I would be very happy as a Reds fan.

Fernando Valenzuela sold out other ball parks who were in a complete frenzy for him. That was in 1981. Limited national TV, no internet so there was no national exposure. You didn't see him until he came to your town, But don't say it never happened.

Cardinals fans even did that in a POSTSEASON game! The opposing pitcher gave up a hit after 7 hitless innings, gave him a standing ovation after the pitcher was pulled.

Second guessing the fans has never worked out very well in the long run. Especially when some energy and spark is being put back in baseball. Yes, conjecture, but the inputs and trends show no weakness. The fans sense something. Not all of them but you're going to see this repeat, because it's a big deal and it's a nice thing to happen. Best health to Paul, He doesn't need much else.

Skins is better than his numbers and his numbers are spectacular what does St Louis fans were doing is acknowledging they're seeing a once in a lifetime player their acknowledging they got to see the guy early in his career knowing he's going to end up being one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history

  • @ironcladmeatrag

Neither of these guys get it. Us Cardinals fans just love baseball. Dude played well, he earns some respect. It’s not like our applause is giving the other team wins.

Mister sports reporter Dan Patrick skiing was not in the LSU world series 2 he was pitching college ball last year so maybe if you knew as much as the Saint Louis fans you would be more willing to respect the greatness as well

It started back when Griff hit 500 at Busch II. Its called loving the game. More fans should learn how to love baseball, not the team that gives them an identity. Losers.

Dan this isn't someone playing good against their team this is Mike Tyson knocking out the hometown kid it's not a good performance they're cheering it is absolute greatness there's what 162 games in baseball or whatever I'll sacrifice the Lost Sea bonds hit three homers or skiing strikeout 8 batteries it's actually more baffling how you don't understand it it's absolute greatness not a great performance there's a difference

Angling to sign Skenes in the future. Pirates need better relievers or they'll waste Skenes and Jones early years.

@@iFozzy62 I agree with him completely. I don’t understand why they are giving him a standing ovation? He pitched great but it was 6 innings. Don’t think you’ll ever catch me standing up and clapping for an opposing player unless they make history or something.
