First time I wore the ubersonic in a match and I ripped up the sides(the outer shell)from sliding, but the shoe itself performed really well and had great traction!
And a random question for you here only because your thumbnail for this vid illustrates it perfectly: what are your thoughts on tennis shoes that are generally flatter at the front vs the kind of raised-toe thing like the speed ff2 have (and some other shoes)? I've always been curious about this. For example I had some Speed FF2s I used on clay and the toe barely had any clay underfoot because I could see that the shoe was not necessarily making constant contact with the court there because of that raised-toe profile. Does this make any difference? It seems like you'd want a more grounded ride front to back rather than less shoe hitting the ground, ie more court feel than less underfoot? Or does the raised toe thing actually help performance or foot health in some way?
Zach, I've been enjoying the Wilson Rush Pro 3.5 all court. I don't intend that you make a video to justify my purchase, but I do recommend them and think that maybe through your videos more players will get to enjoy them. Cheers
They aren’t available in my area yet but when they are hopefully ill get my hands on a first pair- Ive done some Wilson in the past, i like their shanks but I haven’t been a fan of the midsole so hopefully they have some updated specs I can get into when I finally get my hands on one 👍
Why don't the shoe companies reffer to sizes in actual measurements, as in cm/inches? I wear 32 cm insoles. My two Nikes are size 14 (32 cm). I am looking to buy either an Asics FF2 Clay or a GR8 Clay. Both Asics boxes say size 15 (32 cm). Should I just go for the measures in cm?
will have to try the FF2 but i do like the springly feel of that Uber4 lightstrike cushioning. I feel like it really helps me on that 1st pushoff step. not sure if FF2 cushioning offers such a springly feel as well ?
Hi there, I would like to ask for some advice. I want new durable tennis shoes and I can't decide between the Adidas Ubersonic 4's and the SoleMatch Bounce. My feet are more on the narrow side so at first, I tended more towards the Ubersonics. However, with my last pair of shoes the insoles got worn out so bad they have holes in them at the ball of my feet and toes so maybe the thicker sole at the forefoot with the SoleMatch Bounce would be a better fit for me and give me better comfort. (ps I play almost solely on clay) Thanks a lot! Your video's really helped me out A LOT in the jungle of all these different tennis shoes! Great content! :D
The Ubersonics probably won’t suit you if you bottom out so quick- I’d try the lotto mirage 100 if you’re looking for more insole/midsole durability - the SMB may be too wide - yonex eclipsion 3 may also be a good pick up
Help! My narrow A width feet are different sizes. My left foot is size 11; because my right foot is oddly shaped, I need a size 12.5. Often, I have to cut a hold in my right sneaker because of a large tailor's bunion. I have developed a neuroma in my left foot because the sneaker is too big and can't tie the tennis sneaker too tight because of tendonitis pain on the top of my foot. I put arches in both sneakers for arch support and to help them fit. The arches on both feet have collapsed and I can only play tennis for about an hour before the pain becomes too much to continue. Afterwards, when I get hone, I am in pan for several hours when I try to walk.
looking at these comparisons i'm noticing you used to have a better serve snap and acceleration a while ago; thinking that you don't play that much now ?
My husband plays an aggressive game and tracks every ball down with speed, however he has stepped up in class and his opponents are now top club players, he came off court with black toenails on the big toe of both feet in his Yonex Power Cushion Sonicage Shoes, that have been amazing until now, looking for a new pair, what would you recommend as he's clearly experiencing toe jam and instability in the foot when pushed to move faster. Thank you in advance.
Hello there, could you give me a recommendation for a tennis shoe that has a large herringbone or one with good ankle support? Right now I am using the Adidas GameCourt Tennis shoes and I'm looking to try something new. I am mainly looking for a lightweight shoe that has good comfort and stability since I'm a baseline player who plays on hardcourt. Thanks, Foot Doctor Zach and I love your videos!
Great video doc! Can you help me. I bought the new Adidas barricades and they hurt my outside of the foot, even though I tried to break them in for a few hours. They are unplayable for me. The midsole is really uncomfortable for me. Does ubersonic 4 solve this problem or some other brand shoe? Is. the midsole wider or more strechy? Thanks!
Great comparison Zach! Ubersonic 4 makes my feet hurt after 2.5-3 hours tennis session🤕. I also found little bruise on inferior extensor retinaculum area, maybe I tied the shoelaces too hard? I was born with flat feet, do you think asics gel resolution 8 would be more comfortable than ubersonic 4? Thanks!
Thanks - it may just be the slipper tongue on them doesn’t hold your foot up as well- the GR8 will certainly have more arch support so that could be a good try
Hey I had problems with the durability of both nike and asics shoes in the recent past. I play tennis 10 hours a week and they tend to wear down( by that I mean they tear apart) in 4 months. How long do these last?
On the Asics solution speed ff I now am playing for 4 months the upper rubber is torn splitting it from the fabric below right at the point in the front that bends when you run / walk. I am on my toes most of the time . I have students having the same problem. With only a fraction of the use I got out of them. Also the inner padding fabric in the heel tore within 2 months. Is this a garranty claim I can make or is that useless? I do use them for many hours on end, up up to seven hours a day. Most weeks up to 25+ hours a week.
Either quality is suffering because of shortages in supply/ labor - 25 hrs a week for 4 months though seems like a pretty average wear out of a shoe in your case - no idea though about a guarantee - most don’t have that unless specified
I don’t know what to do😢😢😢I got me some GP Turbos but my feet hurt so bad. I want something below 100 bucks that perfect for my low arch feet but I literally can’t find any. I was looking at Nike Prestige and Nike Cage 4 which are at discount at the moment. But I am so confused. Adidas soul match bounce doesn’t seem to have my size. Can your recommend something that’s available ? I honestly don’t know why GP turbo hurt me, because it’s supposed to have great cushioning and I did feel it. But for some reason my feet hurt like crazy after warm up.
@@FootDoctorZach I played with them for like 4 days. Play time of 1-2 hours each day. I even got orthotics souls but it didn’t work. I’m going to return it today and go to a shop to actually figure out my size. Because that’s a problem too
I just retired from a 4.5 match due to feet cramps...first time ever retiring from a match. Sucks to get old...bout to contact my foot doctor... Btw I was fully hydrated as always. All 3 of my shoes Barricade 5’s (yup 2008 version!), Nike Vapor X wide version, and ASICS Resolution 8 wide won’t stop the cramping when I’m hitting. Tried different insoles as well.
Yep good call on getting in touch with your doctor- I would also hook up with your primary care doc as you may need some bloodwork - foot cramps are usually a sign of a more systemic metabolic issue like an electrolyte imbalance - which is something that would show up on certain blood work panels
Thanks a lot. I’ll need a referral from my primary care doc to see a podiatrist anyways. I’ll make sure to ask for necessary bloodwork. Thanks a lot! Hopefully soon I’ll be back “feeling” young again 😆
Electrolytes are normal! LDL through the roof though 😬 Been taking Lipitor and for some reason the cramping has subsided during match play. Thanks for the suggestion to get labs done!
I have adidas ubersonic 4. Still haven't broken in after wearing them 4-5 times. Sure they will break in after few weeks? Does it really take so much time. My ubersonic 3 fit well from day 1
Depends on the shoe- could be a bad batch or just a stiffer shoe mold- mine broke in after a few hrs and was really nice starting around my 3rd time in them
@@FootDoctorZach Mine is wearable after the 4th time. First time was really bad.... but I am hoping it breaks in soon. Any tips for it to break in sooner
So once the supply shortage hit it seemed like the build quality went way down I have no idea why but I’ve had so many people have issues with second pairs of them or pairs they bought in the last several months- it’s not just you
They haven’t released the clay treads in my area yet so I couldn’t tell you but any clay tread will be better gripping than it’s all court counterpart - any clay shoe is good for artificial grass but I like the SoleCourt boosts don’t vapor x most if you’re looking for an all court shoe

Glad it helped you!
First time I wore the ubersonic in a match and I ripped up the sides(the outer shell)from sliding, but the shoe itself performed really well and had great traction!
I’d like to see a picture of that!
Maybe “Foot to Foot” could be a better title than a “Head to Head” 😉
Ha! I never thought of that Neil😂

I don’t see much difference other than easier ground clearance which would only matter going north south anyway
Ubersonic 4 top shoes for me.... fast, light and quick response . Great Adidas upgrade ! At 109,8€ worth every cent.
I was underwhelmed the first time I took them out then once I’ve gotten to play a lot with them I’ve liked them more and more
