    As a foot doctor I look at tennis shoes and tennis shoe technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe's functional attributes on the tennis court
    Some of the main areas we cover in this tennis shoe playtest, and performance review are:
    - The weight, durability, fit and playability of the Asics Solution Speed FF 2
    - What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole of the Asics Solution Speed FF 2
    - Asics tennis shoe technology explained

    Based on your review I bought the Asics Solution Speed FF 2 for my husband. He LOVES them. 2 x 1hour 45 minutes sessions and he says they are the most comfortable shoes he has played in to date. Tested on clay, 22-24˚C (72-75˚F) with 70-85% humidity. They breathe pretty well. He wears a 2E width and these have caused no issues with toe box. Thank you for your great reviews.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! The best way is horseshoe pads around the area that gets burned out, or moleskin- aside from that orthotics can help to straighten out the foot a tad and that can also help, when the rubbing is coming from the inside of the shoe it’s always the foot type but getting shoes with more rubber in that area will also help

    Thanks for your awesome review! I play outdoor pickleball and got used to the Sol Speed FF after first being annoyed by the plastic. Then I got holes in the inside back of them maybe just wearing down, so I thought I’d try the women’s Mizuno Wave Exceed 4, which were comfy in the store, but was not a fan of he high ankle cut. Felt like it was cutting into my ankle. I want to now exchange them for these FF2s, but I also have a narrow foot and high arch (I do have orthotics). Would these work for me? Thanks.

    Hi there! I just found your channel. This thing is a hidden gem wow. I've watched a couple videos now and I love it. I'm a 17 year old and have always had a lot of trouble with my feet. I had turf toe when I was younger and stuffer from hallux limitus. What shoes would or orthotics would you recommend for a foot like that. Keep this amazing content going! Cheers!

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 года назад

      Thanks glad you like it! So sorry you’ve got to deal with that so young- I typically have my hallux limits/ rigidus patients use carbon fiber or graphite “gait plates” in their shoes to stop the bending or a really stiff orthotic that takes the pressure off the ball of the foot - in terms of shoes id want something with dense forefoot foam like the lotto mirage 100 or something with a ton of shoe between me and the ground like the Nike GP turbo , the court ff2 is also a decent choice- just steer clear of the Ubersonic line, mizuno, more minimalist shoes like that- hope that helps!

    • @cadenadeau8524
      @cadenadeau8524 3 года назад +1

      @@FootDoctorZach Wow thank you, I really appreciate you replying. Where could I buy these "gait plates" and would I put them under my regular insole in my tennis shoes or would you recommend getting orthotics (custom or superfeet etc) and putting the plates under the orthotics? Thanks again.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 года назад

Yeah I actually hate switching rackets as I’m a huge rhythm player - only have ever played with 4- the new rackets you see are the ones I’m reviewing for the channel- I play with the RF 97 , before that the flexpoint radical, before that the pro staff rok , before that the prince tt warrior ( flexpoint is my favorite )

      @LuchoVena 3 года назад +1

      @@FootDoctorZach I frocking love the ROK (do you still have one?! it rocks!) , I heard bad reviews but not at all, I dont find it stiff as the the rest of the pro stocks usually to me. and Im Prestige user/Pro Tour/2.0. give them a try too ;) :P
      if u like the 93s, the Touch Mid (actual 93, not 89.5) is wowing me too. well, they dont make anymore but plenty of users that resell as new as it is not their thing :P
      shame some users give them up so early, many reasons but suspect some of course, primarily, head size, but thats all mental really. the ball is so little still and it doesnt travel the whole stringbed. stringbest desinty is more important imo and it does so well with it. oh well.

    Excellent review here - thank you. I'd worn every iteration of gel res starting out from the very early days, until I found res 7 to have a very tight and unforgiving toe box. So, rather than moving directly to res 8 when they came out, I made the switch to Mizuno wave exceed Tour 4.
    They are way better than gel res 7, in terms of both fit and comfort, but not quite perfect. Longevity for instance isn't poor, but far from ideal.
    These new speed solutions have definitely sparked my interest and will be my next shoe purchase soon.
    Only issue is, I only see a ghastly bright yellow out here currently; the clay court version is black, but I only play on hard courts. I assume Asics will bring out some new colours, especially with the Aussie open a month away.

Im glad I stocked up on the model I once was skeptical but won me over. I have always had lightweight shoes but I have fallen arches and shoes with stability often comes with extra weight. Also, for someone playing both in syntethic grass (sandy) and hard court, is there any downside to buy the clay version? Would they wear faster than the allcourt version?

I'm more of a badminton player, so wanted to know if this FF 2 can be used to play badminton. I have flat foot and suffer from pain when I play long hours. I tried it in store, feels very comfortable, has good arch support and as light as other top Yonex badminton shoes. Would love to hear your expert opinion.

    Today I went to the mall and I tried on some tennis and padel shoes: Adidas Court Jam Bounce, K-Swiss Hypercourt, Adidas Game Court 2, Asics Gel Resolution 8, Adidas Defiant Generation, Asics pro padel 5, Asics gel dedicate 7 and Asics Solution speed 2 FF. There were some more Babolat, Head, Bullpadel and Adidas that I didn't even try on as they didn't feel appealing enough to me. The ones I liked the most were the Asics Solution Speed 2 followed by the K-Swiss ones. The Asics cushioning, even though is not really chunky, it is so effective and responsive. The feeling is very similar to my trail running shoes La Esportiva Ultra Raptor, which is quite surprising. I'd like to try on some more like K-Swiss Hypercourt 2, Nox At 10 Lux and the Diadora's Blushield Torneo, but I really think the Solution Speed 2 is a serious candidate to get the price. They are an excellent quality pair of shoes, IMHO.

    I saw this shoe on an announcement deal, Speed FF 2, more like Court FF 2 lite? so are the Speed and Court now in tandem with each other (indentical truss- I even see a hint of that "Barricade claw" on the lateral pinky side! similar upper poly use but different pattern, no more zig zag on the edges liek the Gel-Res and previous Speed) ? no more so that against the Gel-Res (not the same structural upper as base design, more like Courts) as it used to be huh
    Also, liked how they really try to make the Dynagrap like something never done before, perhaps is the inner layer to make it so? the Courts basically does that function in that area with that filled in poly flattened in that area gives the same function but from he outside the booty.
    Now interested in this shoe, does it fit wider than the Court FFs, length? I had the very long length and tighter narrow booty from the Courts issue - First time a tennis shoe cant work on my regular size -going down a size FULLL SIZE seemed to be the length fit, but too narrow that much, so midway (half size down) finally worked better for comfort and did not feel like wearing clown shoes) Would I expect some of the same then?
    Thanks again Doc!

      They are definitely not nearly as stable and durable as the court ff2 they run a tad more generous in length and width but these are still speed shoes where the courts are more all court durability shoes- so they will burn out quicker than the courts still even with all the updates - but still an amazing shoe nonetheless

    Enjoy your breakdown of shoes. Hard to find shoes size 14 for shoes you recommend. Lotto Mirage - no size 14. But size 13 felt like I really want the Lotto in 14. Just can’t squeeze in them. ASIC Court FF2 hard to find size 14. Only the geeen color which isn’t me. But thinking of trying to see if width would work. Depending on shoe medium width works but prefers 2E. Another hard factor to find in shoe.

  • @quibble8

    Love the Solution speed FF2 but..... (With the clay version) I find they can be quite slippy on a damp hard court. So my search continues for the perfect "every surface" shoe; I play tennis on hard court and clay in addition to paddle tennis... My old Barricades used to cope really well with all 3 surfaces. The new barricades are great (for grip) but that pressure on the Achilles just isn't a good. The FF2s would be perfect (and are super comfortable and light) just not secure enough on all three surfaces.
    Any thoughts about alternatives (generally wear Adidas or ASICS as they fit my feet super well). Thx

      Theres really no shoe that will be ideal for 3 different surfaces- rubber just cant be that malleable

      @@FootDoctorZach Thank you for the reply. Fully understand that no shoe would be ideal for all three surfaces but (sadly I can't afford multiple pairs) it's about finding a shoe that's least compromised. Old Barricades (i.e. before they were discontinued) were fairly good. Just can't find anything to match them.... Love the FF2s from a wear but the soles are very very focused for either hard court or clay

    Why don't the shoe companies reffer to sizes in actual measurements, as in cm/inches? I wear 32 cm insoles. My two Nikes are size 14 (32 cm). I am looking to buy either an Asics FF2 Clay or a GR8 Clay. Both Asics boxes say size 15 (32 cm). Should I just go for the measures in cm?

    I started to have heel pain on my left foot and I'm on my 2nd pair of Solecourt. It got worse when I went to shovel the snow with my Timberland boots. Something about the stiffness of those boots not allowing my foot to bend and hurts the mid section of my foot then the rest of my foot. Am I going to suffer even more with the FF2? Like am I having foot pain because the solecourt are too stiff and my foot is not bending or do I need even more cushion? Thank you doc!

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 года назад

      I can’t give you a definite because I haven’t examined your foot but if I were to see this in my office I’d say it has nothing to do with the tennis shoes and it’s more than likely an existing heel pain that was exacerbated by tennis itself then made worse by stiff boots- not sure the solecourts or the ff will fix the pain on their own but you probably need to get treated for the root cause by a local doctor- but for heel pain the ff2 and the SCB are both very good, I personally like the SCB more for heel pain than the FF2

      @@FootDoctorZach I am currently trying out the Speed FF2s. On a scale of 1-10 (let's say with the Adidas SC Boost being a 10) how STABLE do you think the Speed FF2 is? What about the Court FF2? It might be me, but while the SPEED FF2 feels light and fairly cushioned, ever now and then I feel a twinge in my knee or hip when I wear them and I wonder just how stable they are compared to other top rated shoes out there right now (especially for those that over-pronate). I know it is balancing act between speed, comfort, and stability in any given shoe - I guess I am looking for a speedier version of the SC Boost for serve and volley. Tried the Nike GP Turbo and loved the comfort, but not the stability. Both these Asics are in the running based on your reviews. Seems like the Diadora Blushield 5 and Lotto Ratpor Hyperpulse would be, too. Your thoughts Doc?

      @@FootDoctorZach Cool. Looking forward to starting my trail the the Blushield 5 now tomorrow. For me personally, I need a little more stability that the SPEED FF2 has to offer to avoid knee and hip issues. Is it fair to say it is likely a great option for a smaller player looking for something quick with a normal arch - more cushioned than the Lotto Mirage 100, Ubersonic 4, and Nike Vapor Pro but likely not quite as stable as the Mirage 100? How would the Lotto RAPTOR and Nike GP Turbo compare for stability on the same 1-10 scale as alternative to the Speed FF2?
