I replayed this video and want to ask you that the shank plate is what? Carbon or Plastic? I realized that the top layer is plastic and bottom layer of shank is carbon fiber, am I right?
W VIDEO FOR VOLLEYBALL SHOES! If you could maybe test out the asics sky elite ff 3s and also compare them with these as they are the main best 2 for volleyball from asics.
My main sport is volleyball, but there isn't much reviews/coverage of volleyball shoes anywhere, so I have always bought basketball shoes because the abundance of information on them. I never bought a basketball shoe without checking your channel first. I really like how in depth you go and how you include details other reviewers don't such as injury risk, foot type and speed ratioes. I have always wished that someone would cover volleyball shoes the way you cover basketball shoes and here we are with this review of volleyball specific shoes. I hope you continue to branch out and review those niche shoes every once in a while. I hope you look at the Sky Elite ff 3s or maybe the Mizuno Wave Momentum 3s
Hey I’m a volleyball player and I have been watching your videos for about 2,5 years, helped me a lot in choosing shoes, so glad that took the time to test a v-ball pair, seems no one is doing it on RUclips. As a v-ball player I prefer playing in basketball shoes, but it will be awesome if in your future review you can say if a basketball shoes is good for volleyball! I’m a fan love your work !
@@obi_hoan6118 Yes I also hope that Zach say "Some basketball shoes are better in playing Volleyball than Volleyball shoes" because that is the Fact. Many many Volleyball players in the world need to know it
@@juansebastiansuarezromero9094 I play as a setter with lots of blocking, mostly on outside PVC/rubber courts. For me the best one is KD17. If you play on hardwood only, WOW10/CUT 3 is great for all position and foot types.
Volleyball player here, more volleyball shoe reviews would be great! And maybe even a list of basketball shoes that theoretically perform great for volleyball too
Love the video! I’m a vball player myself. Every time I’m debating on a basketball shoe for vball, your channel is the first place I go to. It’s nice to see the vball community get some spotlight. Thanks for the review
Volleybal player here. I would love more mentions and thoughts about volleyball in your other shoe reviews. Shoes meant for volleyball are limited where I am from and I have been using basketball shoes only for the last couple years. A full video on volleybal shoes or basketball shoes that work well for volleyball would be even more amazing.
Went from basketball to volleyball and I will say grip feels far more important in volleyball. Being able to change direction on command and maximising your jump height is so crucial. I still use basketball shoes for volleyball (as most volleyball players do) so it would be nice if you included the pros and cons for volleyball when reviewing basketball shoes!
THANK YOU GOAT! I WAS ASKING FOR A REVIEW OF THESE DAILY 2-3 MONTHS BACK! But yeah, I ended up getting these shoes and really enjoying them. The only problem I also had was dust pickup.
Metarise 2, nova surge 3 and wow 10 are the best shoes to play volleyball. Traction, cushion and speed are topnotch. I love metarise and nova surge because I don’t feel any knee pains after playing in these.
It's really nice seeing you branch out and explore volleyball shoes and it'd be nice if you made more in the future. I would like to add that the Metarise 2s were made specifically for volleyball players that do not pass and focus purely on moving forward and attacking the ball, hence the characteristics of the shoe.
Pleasantly surprised to see the asics metarise on here. I'm a volleyball player currently playing in two wxy v4s thanks to your reviews. Would love to see you also review the asics sky elite ff 3.
This guy knows what he's talking about, I played in the two wxy v4 thanks to him and to your reviews as well. Would also love to see a sky elite ff 3 review.
Great video, Doc! I’ve been following you for years, and as a volleyball player with over 10 years of experience, I’m so grateful and excited to see a volleyball shoe review here! I’ve tried Nike (Westbrook, Kobe, Jordan, Sabrina, Zion…), Adidas, Li-Ning (Lirens, WOW10, Yu-shuai), and Asics (Sky elite 1,2,3 and Metarise 2). I just got my Metarise 2 two days ago and tested them out last night. I can confidently say that last night was the best I’ve played in recent years. The traction was actually pretty good on a dusty court. I had to give it a few wipes during the game, but by now, that’s second nature for me. Surprisingly, the 0mm drop provided a solid bouncing platform, just like you mentioned-I was skeptical at first, but it worked! Launching and landing felt super easy. The lockdown was amazing too, like wearing a pair of gloves. Thanks again for the great review! And I would also like to see Sky Elite ff 3 review as others!!!
Amazing! Volley ball shoe on Zack! I’ve never imagined this happens. I love Kobe 5 or 6 to play volley ball. ASICS unpre ars2 low ,glide nova ff 3 , nova surge low 2, Mizuno wave momentum 3 can be optional for basket ball. Can’t wait to see your next video!
Volleyball shoe review! This is an early Christmas present. It's great to get this info on things like the toe guard for instance. I see my daughter's v-ball team sliding on their toes all the time when they dive for a ball. I had to get the toe cap on her KD15's fixed because they separated on one shoe. I remember reading ASICS' marketing copy on the MetaRises's RiseTruss being designed for aiding the jump approach for outside and oppo hitters. Nice to know it's not just marketing copy! It's also cool to see inside the shoe and get your assessment of the FF Blast + and see it go through the FDZ tests. More volleyball shoes please!
Thank you for this video, really apreciate it! It was very interesting to see midsole teardown, I was not expecting this shoe to be zero drop at 3 cm stack height. Also interesting to see how much does floor material matter in terms of traction. Asics in general are well known for their top tier traction, however indeed volleyball is mainly played on rubberized/PVC courts. If you would see potential in further reviewing of volleyball shoes, maybe you could try other upper tier shoes from Asics like Sky Elite and Netburner? The latter seems like a complete opposite of Metarise with the advertised 15 mm drop. Also, it would be interesting to see your reviews of Nike's volleyball shoes: Hyperset 2 (an updated version of Hyperdunk X) - zoom air units in the forefoot AND the heel for $145 retail; or Hyperace 3, which seems to be an original construction for volleyball (at least I could not find a basketball counterpart).
Volleyball player from Belgium here! Love the review! 🙏 I have been wearing basketball shoes to play volleyball for years now bc there is a lot more options to pick from and bc this kind of content is very hard to find for volleyball shoes… So it would be dope if you could include volleyball shoes in your reviews now and then, or maybe a ‘top 10 volleyball shoes’ list with both volleyball and basketball shoes 🤷♂️ Anyway, love your channel and i will continue watching your videos either way! ✌️
+1 on the volleyball shoe content. Most of the top performing basketball shoes will translate as movements are pretty similar. Basically: 1. Backrow defenders (Lib/DS) that don't need to jump can look to the quicker (shifty point guard/court feel) shoes. 2. Frontrow/bigger middle players can look for something like these or other high impact absorption/quick launch (power forward/center) shoes - I use the Nike GT Jump line for extensive middle play. 3. Setters, outside hitters, opposites can go for the all-rounders - I use NB 2wxyv4, BBv2, Nike Kyrie Infinities and previous top Jordan/KD/LeBron performers. A lot of people use all of the Wade shoes.
Hey Doc, also following up like many other commenters about being a volleyball player and coming to your channel for reviews. I also agree that some more VB shoe reviews would be great! I actually think BB shoes are better cause they are both easier to find and if they are lightweight they are absolutely killer for both sports. I actually ended up watching dozens of your videos and bought WOW All City 12 Encore and I’ve been absolutely in love with them, great traction no matter the court and I’ve never had issues with them. Had to extend that leather piece they use for the dorsal foot support with some shoe lasts and heat but after that, they fit like a glove and I also no longer have to use my orthotic supports to play, which is a huge bonus! Thanks for your excellent reviews and expertise!
yes!! Awesome. Currently between asics sky elites ff 3, 361 big 5.0 quick pro and wow 808 as an outisde hitter in volleyball, I have flat feet and I really don't know which to pick..
I've been waiting a long time for this one. You may want to review something from the other Japanese volleyball big player, Mizuno. Either of the Momentum 3 or Lightning Neo 2, please.
Hey Zach, ima fellow volleyball player that loves the channel and would love to see more volleyball designed shoes on the channel. One shoe that I would love to see a review on is the Asics Sky Elite FF 3 as they are one of the most popular volleyball shoes being used right now. My current shoe rotation is: Asics Sky Elite FF 3 (low), Adidas Don Issue 6, and Lebron 21.
Cant wait for more volleyball content especially from mizuno wave momentum and lightning series, tho one thing i do want to see more is asics basketball like the gel burst, nova surge etc
MORE VOLLEYBALL SHOES! Maybe even a comparison to give some insight into whether you should play with volleyball specific shoes or will a basketball shoe be better.
This or Wow 11? I am a volleyball player, but I always prefer Li-Ning basketball Shoes than Asics & Mizuno volleyball Shoes. Metarise is very heavy than all other volleyball shoes in the world now, and I don't like the form of Metarise too, too bulky and has less courtfeel that I can only play it as a Hitter/ Blocker, and I think Wow 10, Yushuai 18 ultra will be very outstanding compare with this in playing volleyball, more suitable for volleyball than any things named VOLLEYBALL shoes. You say volleyball player don't need Don issue 6 or Kai 1, I think that's wrong, Libero and Setter need a lot more courtfeel and lateral stability, and the Fission 9, All city 12, Shadow 6 Big 3 5.0 quick pro, Sabrina 2, Zap 1, Liren 5, Shockwave 6... do it very well As a volleyball player we also prefer lighter shoes,
I actually prefer the metarise 1 over the 2s. You should really try the 1s if you can get a pair they’re probably on sale. ASICS advertised that they help you jump higher as well and they have a really cool shank and features.
Volleyball Community WE OUT HERE! Glad to see all these people commenting, it's really a great surprise to see a Vball pair like Asics Metarise on here! Super happy bout it. Quick edit: Nike or Adidas also have like 1 or 2 Vball models. The Nike one is called Nike Hyperset 2 (just came out during the olympics) and is kinda like a low/mid budget basketball shoe with supposedly Zoom in the forefoot, but I have never seen a reviewer cut these open so I'd love to see what's in them actually.
Love the volleyball content. Its so hard to find objective reviews for volleyball shoes. I ended up buying a Two Wxy V5 based on your review since i was getting knee pain from landing impacts in vball and couldnt find any information on volleyball shoes that have good protection. Looks like these would have been a decent choice to try lol. Probably worth saying that in volleyball there are a few different positions where ground feel and side to side are more or less important. These look great for middles who are more foreward and backward and quick jumps but would not be good for setters or liberos and may be a preference choice for powers and right sides. Love the content

Hi, Due to a stress fracture in my forefoot combined with a pretty flat foot (not completely, but very low arch), my foot does not appreciate schoes that are too thin or too soft and flexible in the forefoot. I seem to need both cushioning and a certain rigidness in the front of the shoe to help distribute the weight and pressure more evenly and not let it peak in the middle of the forefoot. These sound like interesting, but I need something low cut - I need something not for Basketball or volleyball but ... table tennis 😢 I have found the puma eliminate nitro power quite good but also clunky and slippery on surfaces that are not super clean. Do you have any idea what I could look at?

I've been a shoe design nut since the day when the 'You say you want a revolution' commercial dropped. The way you tear down the designs and materials, coupled with your medical training and othotics advice- this channel is a valuable service for athletes and fulfillment for sneakerheads like myself. Thanks and happy holidays!
you have a good volume of volleyball player viewers. reviewing something like the nike hyperset, hyperace or adidas crazyflight would be really good to see
Asics or Mizuno shoes are not cheap. The Metarise model cost as much as newest lbjs 22 or Flag shoes from Jordan - release price of course. I am wondering if the asics or mizuno technology is worth that price, the same goes to upper durability. Nike have couple types of foams, zoom units that will not bottom-up...in general it feels more tech advanced tha asics or mizuno. What are your thoughts about that?

I saw that someone else asked and it was a negative. Thanks for the great reviews. Any chance you will get more colors on your new slips?

yooo first volleyball shoe review! u should do asics sky elite ff 3 they are good too
Thank you for doing a volleyball shoe! It's frustrating trying to find quality shoe reviews specifically for volleyball players.
Dr zach!! Wheres the KT10 Review?? Im intrigued if it will be okay with my 2E foot! Will wait for it, thanks!
Amazing review, as a volleyball player, I am looking for shoes with strong ankle and heel protection
Great review !!! More volleyball shoes please !!!
FINALLY A VOLLEYBALL SHOE, DOCTOR WE LOVE YOU
OMG wasn't expecting this at all😲 Thanks doc
Asics is super underrated when it comes to basketball! Their Gelhoop line and Nova Surge line are great!
Can you add the category of ex. Its good for outdoor play or this shoe can be like everyday shoes, like the asics 1130, its good to discuss points like this especially for people who value for what they paying for type.
hmmm I see a mistake in the midsole @FootDoctorZach , the upper layer of the foam is normal Flyte foam, which is just EVA blend, the bottom layer is FF Blast+ Eco, a mix of EVA and Olefin Block Co-Polymers (OBC)

I am wondering if the asics or mizuno technology is worth that price, the same goes to upper durability. Nike have couple types of foams, zoom units that will not bottom-up...in general it feels more tech advanced tha asics or mizuno. What are your thoughts about that?
