When I was a child, my mother who was born in 1915, told me how hard it was for her to sing God Save the Queen when the Queen's father, George VI died and and Elizabeth ascended the throne. And now, here I am, 70 years later, having to learn to sing God Save the king

It will be a LONG TIME before there once again sits a Queen on the throne of the UK. A very long time. Could be as long as 100 years or more, and it would, of course, depend on who Prince George's firstborn child is. Remember, it was by no means written in the cards when Elizabeth was born that she was to someday become Queen. Life is a funny size, Ms Otton. And full of surprised.

@@kelvinpell4571 Yeah, but they weren't the Queen Regnant of England. That woman spent her entire life serving her country in every way she could, and RULED her country for how many decades?? I have alot more respect for HRM Queen Elizabeth II than Nancy Pelosi, no offense to those how favor Nancy, but I feel like HRM Queen Elizabeth did more for her country, and for a considerably longer period of time, and made considerably more of a difference in the world than Nancy Pelosi. Hey, if you feel like Nancy is the more respectable choice for girls as a role model, that is your choice, that is your decision, that is your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own choices, decisions, and opinions, and I am not going to disrespect your personal feelings on the issue. I am hoping you will extend the same courtesy to me. And if you re read my comment, yes - I only mentioned Queen Elizabeth II, but I never said she was thr ONLY good female role model who has ever lived. There are so many others, too. She is one of them, in my humble opinion, and considering the nature of the video clip in question, I was keeping my thoughts and comments on the person in question. Hope you are having an amazing day.

@@kelvinpell4571Honestly, HRM Queen Elizabeth II was on the throne for nearly 71 years, and was a grown woman when she ascended to said Throne. She was 96 when shebpassed 2 years ago. Nancy Pelosi is 84 RIGHT NOW. Queen Elizabeth did alot more as the Queen during said nearly 71 year reign than Nancy Pelosi has done in her entire life. I'm not saying Nancy Pelosinis awonderful or horrible at her job, I know she has done things for the U.S, but hasn't had nearly as long of a career and hasn't done as much as the Queen. There are alot of American women whom I have alot ofnrespect for, in history. Queen Elizabeth II made history in alot of ways.

She was in reign for so long it almost looked like she's immortal and will remain on the throne forever. There were even jokes about her age and long reign, satire dating her back to dinosaur era. We knew that day would have to come once, but when it came, nobody was prepared. It's surreal that UK is no longer ruled by queen, but a king again.
Her Majesty's passing was a shock to the world outside UK and Commonwelth as well. I basically grew up only knowing her in reign, while in my own country I've seen now 4th president in charge. Monarchy is such an alien concept to me, and I was actually surprised there are in fact number of monarchies around Europe alone. Apart from UK, Denmak is a monarchy, Sweden is also monarchy, Netherlands is still a monarchy, etc. Some European countries still have colonies outside Europe as well.

Here in Jamaica the Queen was highly respected and public polls prior to her pasting says the majority support her despite the small focal people. I for one wanted Jamaica to become a republic after her passing and not during her life as I believe in the institution of constitutional monarchy as it represents stability, continuity and prosperity. I as a jamaican take note of the fact that people who lives in a country that is a monarchy is more prosperous, less divisions and less political infighting. I am not a fan of republic as evident in the division and constant bickering such as in America or for that fact that we see a lot coups and military taking over the country.
