This version of this song, with Phils achingly heartfelt voice still here in 2023 at 69 yrs old has such a deep effect on me. The memories of the lost love wont let me go even now, 40 years later. I try to embrace the pain and hold it to my heart jealousy cause its mine, and I still cant let it go.
This song might just be the best ballad ever written. I hold this version as one of the best.
❤
♥️
I think this is the best version I've heard he sung better in his native Ireland.
YESSS !!! And I am not a huge fan or anything ,but I totally agreed !! To this day, this song ( this live version & back in the 70's live version ) makes me cry like a baby ,4 decades later since the very 1st time listening to this song !💔 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Oh yes indeed pal🎉❤
The slower pace and Phil's incredibly soulful voice on this version is perhaps the saddest I've heard... He genuinely feels every word...
AGREE 👍
One of the best ballads ever. Melody, lyrics, performance. Superb
So long ago now..I cried like baby when Phil passed...I loved this band at 16yrs old when the jailbreak album hit the charts..well im 62 now and i love them still. ♠🎸❤ RIP PHILO AND GARY. X💖X
I'm Still in Love with Thin Lizzy👌
And I will always love your guitar John, sooo beautiful, just like you.....

Phill stil Shines and this is one of the most Amazing Performance,s in Rock n Roll History¡ Phil just trew his heart away that evening Both John and Scott Awesome solos Scott made it Happy at the end¡ ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🎸🎸 Epic
In my opinion this is the best version of thins song.....The emotion is as real as it gets..
John Sykes' perfect solo, an exceptional guitarist, songs immune to time, Phil 💖
The deadliest ballad of all time. No one has ever written one this good since Phil.
flashy5150 Well said! This was / still is my number ballad all time!!! Still makes me cry like a baby !!! 40 years later from the 1st time I heard !!!
Yeah man, no other ballad is deadlier. Nice choice of adverbs.
"Empty Rooms" by Gary Moore ranks right up there, too. His live performance in Stockholm (1987) chokes me up every time I experience it.
@@ronforeman2556 I agree Empty Rooms is right up there.
Je suis tout à fait d'accord !
Probably one of the best rock ballards ever written... evokes sad memories in me and most of us if you feel it deep enough. Rip Phil....
You hear & feel the pain, have never listened to this without the tears 😢 flowing.
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS EVER WRITTEN, MADE AND PLAYED 😢😢😁🌠✌🌺💖😎
Too Much Good Taste !!! Brilliant !!! God Bless Philo !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!

Absolutely the most beautiful ,haunting love song ever ❤
Live and Dangerous best live album ever. Most underestimated band, can mix it with the best.
Miss them heaps
I fucking love this band. Love Phil and Sykes. Got to see them once in Kaiserslautern Germany in 1983. Feel privileged.
Absolute magic, still... in 2024....
Fabulous ballad. So miss both Gary and Phil. Geez,, where have all the years gone. I was hooked on TL when I first heard the Rocker and Whisky in a Jar. I’m 70 years old now and still love em. All the guitarists they had brought something to the band. Even when Midge Ure took over because Robbo had gotten his hand in the way when some arse hole from another band had tried to bottle Frankie Miller backstage. The absolute best rock band. EVER!
So amazing that songs like this were written and performed during this time. Never will be duplicated ever!!!
You can hear the pain in Phil's voice,So hauntingly beautiful 😎😍
Sheila Sams yes. This song made me cry like a baby when I heard this song for the 1st time in their live album ( was the 1st version of this song that I heard), and it still does that til this day more than 4 decades later!!! Evey single time!!! What a talent he had ! To able to sing a song like this!!! I cry FOR HIM every time I listen.
Brilliant. So moving. So rockin'. 🔥
Sun goes down is a great ballad as well about the demise of Thin Lizzy was a VERY personal song for Philip.❤
Takes me back to when i was a young Medical Assistant in the Royal NAvy.Riding my Triumph and living hard, all the good times with good mates(some now sadly departed)lots of Beer,Girls and Parties!RIP Nobby and Kev!
This classic still breaks my heart.
This is the best version of this song. Period.
I confess I was a member of John Sykes's fan club in the 80's !! For two years ! My only 1st / last fan club experience in my entire life !! Lol. I had always known that he could sing very high for some reason by looking at his photos !! Lol.Thin Lizzy had such great drummers & guitarists !! They were very tight on the stage !! I regret that I've never gone to see 'em live .💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Just simply - The Best. 💔💔♥️👌🕊️
Sykes really makes his guitar sing...
Still in love with this song
something for the Irish today !! what a great Irish band !
One of Phil's most sincere performances..certainly wore his heart on his sleeve towards the end of his performing days..backed by a superb band who rode out the journey with him like they were at their last gig.
Thats call7ed music, a real thing. Beautiful, little bit sad too
Interesting to see, how Phil, could still absolutely kill it here completely loaded... RIP you badass and genius of a musician
Excellent guitar player
Always play this several times a week. In the car, around my home and now at my desk at home during this lockdown 💔
Keep playing it ❤
Grande John Sykes... Grande banda... Linda música...
This is the best I ever heard from Lizzy, I been looking at all your rare stuff. I will be here for hours, thank you John Sykes fan.. Phil & Gary you are so missed, and Rory also.
2 minute guitar solo...wow!!!
Makes me Cry all the time ¡ one of the most beauty full songs of all time
This song & ' It's over' by Level 42 &' Overjoyed 'Stevie Wonder are very best breakup songs that tears my heart !! I also love Car's ' Bye bye love ' 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I miss Phi Lynott so much, Thin Lizzy was and is a great Band! Phil- RIP
This has to be the most heartfelt song and sung with so much raw emotion for the woman who he still loves and can't handle losing her, it touches me because it could be about my break up from my wife who I still love and always will but like Phil the drug dependency controlled my life and I realised when it was too late. As lou reed said it's my life and it's my wife.
Awesome!
I was fall in love with this version in 1986.
I really loved Phil Lynott's feelings.
이상필 yes! I was never a big fan, but this song is the most beautiful ballad I have ever heard in my life!!! His ability , capability to write a song like this & sing the way he did was / is beyond ...SO HAUNTING!!! And sad & beautiful pure feelings!!!
Makes me cry all the time ¡ A Broken Hearted man¡ 😪❤🙏🙏🎸🎸😊

필 리놋의 슬픈 영혼이 담긴 최고의 곡... VERY Best Song Of Thin Lizzy
still in love off this song
If I had the power to turn back time and bring Phil and Gary with Thin Lizzy I would do it in a flash.. this music lives on at least..
I really like this version. This is the best.
2022 and you still Rock it🎸🎶🎵🎼🎸
I also love the Gary Moore solo with Phil on Garys best of collection!
Phil Lynott rest in peace
one of the best balads ever
Brilliant rip phil
John's best solo
I saw them live in 1976 in Liverpool and they were absolutely brilliant. I've seen many bands live and they were the best, after The Who, who are the best live rock band there has ever been. Phil Lynott playing his bass while angling a spotlight off his fretboard into the audience was pure showmanship 👏👏👏👏
So much damn soul!
Great Scott, Played it best On LIVE AND DANGEROUS LP!!!
After all these years, still love with these masterpiece.
This song has so many memories for me........some good .......some nit so good.I never tire of hearing it!
Excellent track. Wish i was still there. Nevermind
the best version of this peace of art!!!!!
God Bless.
Perfectly Perfect.
Finaly i found it again
Rockin IT 2020 ... LOVE THIS SONG !!!
I think the best version is their live album. But this is great too…
I can felt the sorrow and sadness at Phils voice on this version, those last years of Phils life 1980-1986 was very intense on drug and alcohol addiction due the failed struggles to make Thin Lizzy and his other Projects reach big comercial sucess.
On the last years was very sad to see Phil addicted on heroin and judged by his friends and the family from the former wife. Bo Geldof refused to call Thin Lizzy to Live Aid and bring much frustation to Lynott.
And coincidentally Geldoff's own daughter passed away from drugs. Drugs are the devil.
Geldof got pulled down off his pillar too. He couldn't shine the shoes of Phil. RIP🙏
Beautiful
Great song seen play when I was a kid
This song is a gift..Epic.
What a song... A true gem.
Still love you Phil. So many years gone by. 30 to be exact.
Love this version so much. ❤️💜
Phil lynott was all heart
Masterpiece,best version
One of the most underrated Bands of all-time ! Listen to the Miles on Phil Lynott's Voice . The Years of Scotch and Smack on full display . The Genius Remains . Thin Lizzy always gave the Fans their Moneys Worth ! Listen and Feel , Love - Peace ~
TheJackflash85 very well said! They were one of the very best live bands all time !!! Regret I've never seen their live big time !
They were not UNDERRATED, Gordon Bennett, they were massively rated! and rightly so! Why does everyone on RUclips use this ridiculous phrase?
If I wasn't 2 years old at 1983, I'd have probably been to this live!!!
I love this song ❤️ since I first heard it off the Live and Dangerous album and it's been in my head since seen them at the Long Beach Arena
He's one of my favorite singers 💗
Fantastic rock ballad .
Woahhh. Memories.
John Sykes kills it on this!

Beautiful!
John Sykes solo is so deep ¡
His inspiration was Blackmore and Moore!!
32 years today...
love this, love the man ,
I've listened to over a dozen live performances of this song and each one is great.......but in my opinion this version is the best. This is not to take anything away from any previous or current Thin Lizzy guitar players because they are ALL amazing but I love John Sykes solo and playing the best.
What a beautiful guitar solo by John Sykes!
Thin Lizzy. I'm still in love with you
