Orient did tasteful decisions in all Bambinos regarding aesthetics and movements despite the excessive use of date functions, but they still can't figure out a correct set of dimensions for them as . I bet a classic 36mm x 42mm with 18mm lug width, no-date and perhaps with domed sapphire would be a huge success.
I noticed a store worker wearing a Bambino and commented positively about it. It was his first mechanical watch. He must have found a good one because in the many months that he owned it, he had not had to adjust the time. There was another budding enthusiast!
An Orient Bambino v2 with a smaller dial and small seconds - what's not to like? Still, I'm waiting for a smalle version of the current 41mm small seconds with champagne dial. That I would like even more.
Thank you Mr. Tim for this review. The Seiko Bambino have a lot of fans. The champagne version of this model is quite nice to me. Greetings from Patagonia itself, in the middle of a big night storm. Nature unleashed like this reminds me how small we humans are.
Ordered the gold plated version. I will not wear it often despite appreciation for the new design. I just feel that my collection must pay respect to the Bambino.
Price seems high compared to what it's been historically but I am sure it will come down. I personally like the VI numeral, it's smaller instead of cutting it out. It's an unusual and cool touch
The less contrasting numerals look much better, batons would be a further improvement. My only Orient is a Kamasu which has the same accuracy spec but typically runs about +3s/day so this may be the same.
They're beautiful pieces but all 3 of my Orient watches have let me down, in terms of reliability. They could've just used an NH35 and solved the whole thing.
Hi, I took it down, because it didn't age so well. I still support my points from back then, but the production wasn't good enough for today's standards.
@@CasebackWatches Thanks for replying. I didn't think it was a bad series. There was a framework for analysis but it was always prone to attack from his fan base.
Orient is underated breand, they have the image of asian watch for poor country like philipine or vietnam, but i worn diferent orient and always works perfectly,i have an orient super king crystalcreissue, very criticate by a lot of youtuber, but she is realy 1970 looking, confortable, good quality and afordable, orient desreve more interest and less snobism,of course they need to find an iconic model who could change there bad image like citizen with tsuyosa
@@CasebackWatches gotcha! I generally don’t think about this, as designers/watchmakers/manufacturers have pulled it off on tank-style cases for 100+ years, and Cartier is currently killing it in that realm. But it certainly is a challenge to make it legible and stylish in such a small space (especially with the bambino being smaller watch) Cheers from Chicago - sorry for the misunderstanding🍻
Still the date, always the date :( I'm not even going to complain about it being automatic, therefor thicker than it could have been. And I know that the offset small seconds shaved 0.5mm off the central hand version. But that hole on the dial is just a no-no.
This piece is good from far, but far from good. I think I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw that industrial unfinished movement inside. The dial is quite handsome though.
Lots of 60s dress watches don't have well-finished movements either. Personally i can't care less for that. Coming from Orient i know it's rugged and reliable, so that's what matters in the long run, when it truly becomes an old watch itself.
For me the last mile is when they bring out the one with the Arabic numbers and champagne dial.

I want an 36 mm, no date, ivory bambino, solid caseback. Manual wind ok too.

I had a great thunderstorm here near Santa Fe last night too. I lived watching tge lightening.
I bought the original Bambino when they 1st came out but I was disappointed by the latge size, not very vintage.
Ordered the gold plated version.

Still improving but I think they could go a little further with a sapphire crystal and a better strap.
These watches are beautiful. I want all of them👌
Thanks for the review Tim. I've wait for you to review this piece.
Like everyone, it would be nice if Orient deleted the date function.
There are also 2 more Japan exclusive color models :(

Imo never should a petite seconds feature a date window
All Bambino models would look much better without a date hole.
For a small second, I like date pointer hand.

I can never get what i want. A nice budget dress watch, 36mm diameter, 10mm thickness....
Check out Baltic 😉
A very balanced review.
Handsome dress watches.
Hey there. I am looking for your analysis of TGV but i cannot seem to find it on your channel.

Even smaller would have been nice.
Amen to that. And no date.
gaga googoo
@@zillsburyy1 you dont have to do me like that 😔

I would buy one in a hearth beat if they got rid of that ridiculously large logo on the dial.
2:08 “It’s so hard to use Roman numerals on a watch” - Bro, what?
Yep, from the designer's standpoint. Very hard to pull off and please more than 5 people imho.

Need Sapphire and 100m WR. they can do better!
Not gonna happen at this price.
the older version is better
to busy dial
Please be 40 mm, please be 40mm ... it's 38 😢

it's like $200, besides there's a certain beauty in the rugged

what do you expect for the price?
Sigh. Watch "enthusiasts" can be an insufferable lot.
Not for me, but I get it. Another good WOTW. 212?
