I love bringing plants into the bedroom. You only mention getting the right species and then left us hanging. How in the world do we find what the right species are? Please let us know. Thanks
@@Grateful4plants it’s ok me too just go to Armstrong nursery or Home Depot to the indoor plant section and pick out one for your night stand or a larger one for a corner of the room. I just knew “fig” then I looked up different images. 👍😊🤗
I just heard about a designer tip when it comes to Roman shades. They seem to never work properly over the years so the tip was to just put a basic roller blind behind it for your privacy.
Oh God you’re 💯 percent correct when it comes to the bedroom my belief system is when you make your bed your bedroom is looking clean and peaceful ❤thank you for your wonderful service 👏👏
My bedroom has 2 accent walls one is bright orange and the other is aqua blue. The vibe is tropical with a wood ceiling. The ceiling bed frame and shades are similar in texture and natural color with a few plants and no clutter. My bedroom is calming and the place I go to detox, relax and get a great nights sleep.
Lisa, thank you for sharing your talent with us! Such valuable information to keep our little worlds pretty and our brains calm … as calm as possible. Cheers to your generosity! ❤🎉
I just need a non-rock-n-rolly, non-squeaky bedframe! 😠 I have a very narrow bedroom window, so I hung a black towel on the backside of my drapes to make the room darker, as I'm very light sensitive and a very light sleeper! A bit tacky, but it works!
Hi Lisa! Can you expound on moody colors/using saturation in the bedroom? I am going for a chocolatey kind of purple (Nocturne Shade by Behr or something similar.) Does this only work as an accent color? Is it too "unnatural" to bring in on the walls? Thanks!!
As long as it’s not to red, chocolate can work fine. Consider painting all surfaces though, walls, ceilings longs and trims. That way it disappears instead of becoming a focal point. Remember to keep the space calm. 😊
@@LisaHoltDesign thank you!!! This helps Love your work and get pumped for every video 😘 you have such a unique voice and presence, thanks for all you do!
Great tips Lisa! Reminds me of Japandi. Still decorating our Hawaii home. Sorta took a break and couldn’t make design school because of my mom’s health. I want to get back to tweaking things.
Love all of the detailed tips and gorgeous photos to go with. Good for my morning chuckle the funny photos, too. I didn't know that there are certain plants best for the bedroom....wow...I'm going to run out and get a couple. Thanks again for a dynamite video, Lisa.
Love your channel. But I just have to say, a bunch of accent pillows really are not great for primary bedroom. I want my bed made in the morning because it feels good, but I’m less likely to do it if I have lots of work to do, like, tucking in sheets and making the pillows look good, straightening out a throw blanket. I say, keep it simple!😊
I switched to a Japanese futon matress. Yep. It was the best decision ever! No more heavy bed. No more heavy furniture. More room for other purposes. Able to air out my futon. You can get some with a small bed frame. Keeping it simple. Let them be too much. Some people thrive on that. 😂
Thanks Lisa. Beautiful examples. Can you do a new segment on how to get the best storage out of a closet space. I’m struggling with that now and my closet doors are sliding so it’s always hard to reach into the middle section of the closet from the outside in ❤
Most of us don't live in houses, apartments and condos with 12 to 14 foot ceilings or bedrooms the size of barns. Eight foot ceilings and small bedrooms (often cramped) are the norm. Why do you keep giving us examples of places only the ultra rich live in? Your tiny bathroom ideas show bathrooms the size of bedrooms or bigger than my kitchen. The bedrooms look fabulous- especially if you have that gorgeous floor to ceiling, wall to wall view of the ocean or a 2 story ceiling with beams and huge windows. Lovely inspirations, but hardly helpful in turning our small bedrooms with standard windows and ceiling heights into lovely replicas or your ideas. It would be helpful if you could get down to earth and show us how we could realistically work with the spaces we live in.
I appreciate your design tips, my main living spaces all have a cohesive flow with color palette and textural elements. My primary bedroom is my space for whimsy. Slate gray wall color, yellow drapes, a gallery wall of all my favorite photographs, feathers on the lampshades, satin pillow cases and faux fur throws, and my Grandma's bedroom set. I'm a 56 yr. old female that doesn't sleep through the night, but when I wake up and get up my surroundings bring me joy.
Thanks a lot, Lisa. I am glad I am doing something right. It is a start. One more thing. TV in a bedroom. Computer and all electronic gadgets. Bad thing, I mean. Is it not? They do not fit Zen environment.
@@LisaHoltDesign Never had one. I have always been against anything electronic in a bedroom, particular child's bedroom. My problem is that my friends never understood these demands, thinking me being weird. I am glad you confirmed me right. Thank you! ❤
Under bed storage is bad feng shui. I keep mine clear so that the Roomba can keep it dust free under there. I’m wondering about all the accent pillows. They’re just clutter. Where are they supposed to go at night? Most people don’t have huge spaces.
This so amazing ! I’ve taken many of your suggestions into my bedroom and has made such a difference ! My huge issue is Bay Windows in a 100 + year old building . How to hang rods up on dry wall which of course was used to extend and make the Bay windows ? They fall off and make a hole in the wall., even those special drywall hooks don’t hold for long , there must be a way !
Thank you for your kind words. I’ve an app and website where you can tackle these kinds of things. DezignSpace (app) or DezignSpace.com hope to see you there. ☺️
Best channel EVER!! You get straight to it at an even pace, not too fast nor slow and great images. Easy to understand and so down to earth. Also love your eyewear ❤️! Subbed
Good timing. We are in the middle of a bath/bedroom remodel and looking at color for the bedroom now. We have a color that’s too orange/tan that I’ve hated for years!
So...two 47" wire dog crates and two snoring, scratching, doggies who occasionally whoof and scrabble their way through their "dreamies"? Or gurgle-slurp through a mid-night water break before they huff and flop for their next round of sleep? Zen-like or no? Ha-ha! I'm never going to get a "good" night's sleep again, but I wouldn't have it any other way. When I've eked out my 5 hours, I pop open the crates, the ensuing puppy pile-on is so charming, comforting, and sweet that I'm set for the day. Who needs sleep? Ha!
Wait, Roman shades + Solar shades = roller shades? It’s a portmanteau! Anyway, great video! I still haven’t managed to find a good plant solution for my life that I don’t kill. I may need to make that a summer goal!
Hi, Lisa, for zen bedding in hot (95* F) and humid (bay front) climate for summer do you remove the all-weather weight comforter from the duvet cover or leave it in?
