Absolutely! Lisa is, by far, my favorite home design channel.
Yes big pet peeve of mine and a sign of poor professionalism and little knowledge on how to handle customers' sensibilities or requests/styles that are not what they like personally.
Most of these people are not designers they are influencers who are just overpaid to abuse people with their unsolicited advice and loud opinions. I agree with you about Lisa. She is amazing, knowledgeable, professional and actually have the gravitas to back up her content!!

LISTEN TO THIS WOMAN! SHE KNOWS OF WHAT SHE SPEAKS! Thank you, Lisa! For those who asked, "Why isn't a bed against the wall sustainable?" You are going to need to clean and change sheets and make that bed every day. When you are young you can pull this off for a while but even the young get sick of climbing onto a bed and trying to wrestle on that corner of the sheet or having to move a large bed every time you need to make it which for some of us is DAILY. I know you think we are unicorns but yes, we do exist. Space on both sides means easy clean underneath and easy sheet changing and bed making and best of all, NO CLIMBING OVER ANYONE ELSE TO GET IN OR TRAPPING YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER. LOL.

Yes, yes, yes - I lived like this for a while with boxes piled up on the other side of the bed so I couldn't walk around there (there really was nowhere else to put the boxes) . I'd never do that again. It makes it so difficult to make the bed even with fitted sheets and a throw over duvet.

Not everyone has the space.
Not to mention the fact that it looks jakey.
1. Color matters: recesives tones / Calming tones
2. Dominate your lighting situation: Normal bedligthing, don't go tiny + 3 light spots + dimmers
3. Become a storage ninja: bed with storage options, vertical space, shelves, baskets.
4. Furnishings must haves: sit point that isn't dthe bed, statement back the bed, big rugs.
5. Bring in nature

This is why your information is so valuable to me 😘: Way back in the 70's I redid the bedroom my 5 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter shared. On a cool summer night after they fell asleep I opened their bedroom windows, pushed their beds together, tossed a lightweight sheet over them and painted their walls. When the walls were dry I then pasted border trim around the room, took off the sheet and pushed their beds back. Unfortunately wallpaper paste doesn't like freshly painted walls so when I went back into the room to admire my work, imagine my horror as the border paper was curled on top of and stuck to my precious babies!! 😳 We still laugh about it 🤣.

I love my bedroom storage ottoman. It has FIVE functions! Not only is it a footstool for my bedroom reading chair, but it stores my entire purse collection, and serves as seating for where I do my hair, and seating for when I need to plunk and pull stuff out of my basket side table that sits next to my chair. And when I'm just getting home, it serves as a place to throw what's in my hands until I feel like putting it away. It's the most multi- functional piece of furniture in my home. I highly recommend bedroom footstool storage ottomans. At least one!

@@elizabethmorgan2513 I spotted it in a shop called Factory Return Outlet in my area. They re-sell items that either got returned and/or never sold, or were slightly imperfect, and they restored. There weren't any imperfections to it, so it was a great score!

Thats great if you want to get customers in and out of brothel or after you do a show .. but trust me. I've had orange in a bedroom and nothing in warm tones should go unto a bedroom unless it's a light cream color or ivory is going to be restfull

Lining the bed wall with fabric is a great idea for quieter sleeping conditions, too. A little batting or foam rubber, under the fabric, really helps even more.
@Kimberly Perrotis --- This sounds lovely, but how do you handle:
1) the transitions between pieces of fabric, and
2) getting the batting and fabric to stick to the wall (and the fabric to the batting)?
Because it seems to me with wall fabric getting it smooth would be the biggest challenge, yes?
@@be5952I did this and slightly gathered it, tacking it to the walls on wood strips with small tacking nails at that top and bottom.
Lisa, just discovered your design channel….love it! I’m retired and in a small 1 bedroom apartment….Only here 4 years and according to your advice, everything needs new decor starting with “the envelope”!!! Just redid my bedroom…..can’t wait to see how to fix that! 😂

It's rewarding to me to know I'm on the right page with my bedroom decor as it's calming and very neutral. Just for me though I have to have candles. Real candles mostly but I have a couple battery candles I love as well. Thank you Lisa and as always I look forward to our next lesson.

I sincerely appreciate that you have considered the needs of your viewers. A lot of designers write off the need for a ceiling fan and tell us that we should avoid them entirely. However, I love your understanding and tolerance to utility which definitely compliments the foundations of design theory. We should not ignore our needs for aesthetic preference but seek to find compromises by marrying form and function.

The bedroom color suggestion makes SO much sense. Many years ago, my mother decorated a nursery bright yellow. I think that’s why my younger brother cried so much as a baby - that room did not look relaxing at all. I still think about it when I’m thinking about bedroom colors. Lol!

We did a deep blue in our bedroom. We’re on a fairly busy street so headlights were an issue. The difference between the prior light color and the dark one was amazing as far as how disturbing the headlights are. Love your videos. You’re always so enthusiastic.
I love your channel. Your enthusiasm and design ideas have me watching numerous times to make sure I didn't miss anything, I have lupus, fibromyalgia and arthritis, sometimes I have trouble retaining what I see or hear. I really appreciate that your videos are clear and concise with touches of wit and humor. I have to tell you how pretty your blue glasses make your eyes and very flattering with your skin and hair. I helped my parents redo their sitting room and I was SO happy to buy them a grown-up floor lamp, instead of the multi-colored dorm lamp they had bought just due to price.

I have found that plants don't do so well in my bedroom. My planned solution is to blow a hole through my closet to add french doors and a balcony from my bedroom that overlooks the back yard. After that exit way is made, the closet will then be in two parts, with each part facing the other, rather than the closet facing the room as it currently does. This will create more natural light and an amazing view and lounge chairs out on the balcony. I am over the moon for the improvement that is going to bring to the vibe of my bedroom.

So true! We unexpectedly had to move and the only house we got approved to renting is one where my husband and I share our room with our littlest toddler. Instead of a dresser, I went vertical with 5 white floating shelves. Atop each shelf are beachy looking baskets that match the grey shade of my platform bed. Each basket contains its own dresser item - one for casual tops that can be rolled up for storage, one for undies, one for socks, one for gloves and hats. SO easy peasy! Just grab a basket, and find what you need in a snap. The look not only elevates the eye in my small bedroom, but gives the eyes breathing room over what a more bulky dresser would allow.

I must offer this up on the storage front: wooden wine crates. The wine stores (around here anyway) will often give them away. Pop them onto cheap hardware store shelving (like those rails you mount on the wall, click those brackets onto, and lay a melamine shelf-we’re talking a $50 investment here) and you’ve instantly got a really cool wall of 10” (or 15” or so, if you turn the wine crates lengthwise) storage that looks really cool. I did this in a tiny quirky room I have in my house that I’ve used as my dressing room and it’s the coolest room in my house.

I adore a stylish ceiling fan. I installed three from Hunter in my current home that are modern & gorgeous!
I adore ceiling fans! No, I wouldn't want a neon orange one with a center black light, but none are that garish anyway.
I live in my late mother's house, which is old, large and a product of her eccentricities, lol. Some remnants of her tastes are charming, and others are, well, pretty awful. For example, she hated air conditioning AND ceiling fans. Virginia summers are HOT and we manage with window units where we sleep, but a ceiling fan in the bedroom and kitchen would be divine. Once some estate matters are complete, I will be installing at least two big ceiling fans (and they might even have lights, lol).

Lisa, I love your positivity and its helping me feel more creative! I've been stuck for so long 😩 and its refreshing to watch you 😍. I can't agree more with no warm colors in the bedroom ! Before taking color theory I convinced my mom to let me do a creamy almost pastel orange and I had a fantastic jump in energy during the day but it felt like I drank an energy /caffinated drink before bed and couldn't sleep 🥴.

My bedroom is so narrow that I did not even have room for one regular size night stand next to the bed, so above my low platform bed headboard, I installed a long white floating shelf on which I placed two matcihng remote-controlled lamps. The light design they cast on the wall with their octagonal shades is amazing together, and matches the checkered theme I have synthesized into the decor. My carpenter is slated to build for me some custom 6-inch wide nightstands that will be about 36" long, and will provide a bit more functionality, but sometimes these things take time.

I always love all your tips, Lisa. One of my issues is that all of the bedroom videos out there address small bedrooms, but never large ones…which could be equally a design challenge. Everywhere I move, I paint my bedroom Benjamin Moore Yin Yang blue-similar to the last bedroom in the “rugs” section with the wall of windows. The color is so soothing and gentle to wake up to. I have dark, heavy furniture and all white linens and it is just so classy. Great job, Lisa! Can’t wait for Sept launch of club.

Once again, I love the information and your positive energy. An excellent easy care option in low light is a monstera "branch" in a vase--we have one that has thrived for more than a year with little natural light. For storage solutions, I opted to get rid of 90% of what was stored in our bedroom--how did other people spend their lockdown?! ;)

@Candace McGuire --- I second the *'leaves in a vase'* idea.
I cut down a 7 foot Monstera months ago and saved half a dozen of the nicest leaves. I found a big, clear glass vase at the thrift store, arranged the leaves in there, and voila! *_Real greenery_* that can go in darker spaces (my bathroom, in this case).
What I don't know is if they need *_any light_* at all? (Mine have sent out lots of healthy roots in the vase of water.)
One could also use other kinds of leaves. You'd have to experiment a bit as to which last long.
