I definitely think after this season Nike really needs to do a new jersey program cause this year’s lineup with all the repeats of previous city jerseys but with different colors (or in the case of Charlotte, a different word mark) just tells me they’re starting to run out of ideas with this program
Repeats with different colors are by design.. It makes people who bought last years jersey not feel like it's quickly outdated after just 1 season I would rather do away with the city editions altogether - there's too many jerseys as it is!!! Stick to association, statement, alternate (can be city edition like) & 1 classic per team!
The city jerseys are horrible. Airport abbreviations and city nicknames. You can’t even identify some of the teams. They need to stick with the classic jerseys. Maybe do a different version of a throwback every year instead
This will make me sound like an old head but I'm done with the city. Nike renewing the contract would mean new jerseys every year until then and I'm already done with what theyve done already.
Exactly. I hate the nba jerseys ever since nike took over. They should have kept the home whites and two colors road jersey. And maybe maybe added a city jerseys that could be worn home with the white jerseys. All of these different kinds of jerseys every year are taken away from the teams core. And half to most of them are ugly and make no sense with these colors schemes
@@KazeShikamaru same. I think it's neat to have a one-off jersey for a little while. they have potential. the Wizards did a cherry-blossom one, the Nets did a subway-inspired one and the Basquiat series, the Blazers did plaid, the Clippers had the black and white ones. you keep home whites, your away color, your alternate jerseys, and then you get one for variance. i like the concept
@@earlbrown1803 They've occasionally done the switcheroo of road team with white jerseys and the home with color/dark jerseys even during the 90s at one point. Now it's just super common.
The name "Utah" and "Jazz" together has been a crime ever since the team moved to Utah. Jazz was invented in the NO by Black people. Meanwhile Utah is mostly White Mormons.
@@earlbrown1803 like it's so many different throwback designs that you can actually put different colors to and it looks fire but it's like they don't even want to try anymore Golden State could bring back the "we Believe" design in their current colors and I bet you would be 🔥
I wish for the city additions. They wouldn’t just do a new one every year they go with a good one that is popular and they just stick with that for a couple years until they can decide the next direction to go for the next Jersey.
The "City Edition" jerseys tend to be hit and miss, but less so in the NBA than with MLB's "City Connect" jerseys (some of which are so god awful, it's not even funny). I'm not a fan of the Mavs' city edition jerseys, for example, but others are pretty sharp and very old school (Philly, Portland, for example). I think the "City Edition" will be around for a while, but it could use a few tweaks here and there. Also, I wish the Heat would've kept the Miami Vice themes City Edition theme, because that vibe is a perfect fit for South Florida.
yeah same. the Wizards have so much inspiration they could use. Maryland flag, DMV-themed, Metro-themed all white and Helvetica, more cherry blossom, Georgetown neighborhood, etc.
The extra sets of jerseys are never going away, because it's an added revenue source, so let's just accept it. What's hard to accept though, is some of these appalling designs - if you can even call the new Boston jersey a 'design'. But I'm guessing a lot of kids will think it's immensely cool, so I'm fairly sure it's a calculated move, despite all us Statler & Waldorfs in the gallery...
Awesome video. Utah Jazz jersey looks awesome. I think Slovenia and Montenegro can make a similar jerseys for their national basketball teams, since both countries are proud of their mountains.
I never understood the city edition jerseys. I mean, I grew up watching just two primary jerseys: a home white jersey and an away dark jersey. That’s it. Now, they flip floor the colors at random, have all kinds of different jerseys now for all occasions. Wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with holiday inspired jerseys for the occasion lol. I guess they’re all money makers and nba is marketing them like crazy.
im weeks late but ive been saying this for years im so glad someone agrees. These teams are genuinely losing their identities with all these different city jerseys that get worn every other game it seems like. Not to mention theyre different every year. Just from a visual standpoint these teams have no identity anymore, when I tune into games it feels like im watching an amateur league, not to mention becsuse the brand of basketball thats being played (no defense and just chucking 50 threes a game). Its really no wonder the NBA is losing viewership.
Lakers are the only one that looks like a professional sports team uniform. That's something that I would actually spend money on and I'm not even a Lakers fan.😅
Your the first channel that I’ve seen who explains the story behind the designs. Although they are meh and could be better I like knowing the inspiration behind them….
Thanks for sharing that - Everyone else just gives their opinion about the designs, I'd rather tell you the story about it and let you make up your own mind.
Nike should be replaced as the primary jersey provider. They only confused the teams on how they manage their uniforms, as well as the designs really sucking big time.
Dang, a lot of teams ran out of ideas, huh? My Brooklyn Nets got the worst color to have "fun" with and the Knicks are too scared to be judged by their fans 😂😂😂😂
Too many different uniforms and team colors these days in the NBA and they should stop adding more cuz its driving fans nuts.Throwback jerseys are great to go along with the current uniforms but that should be it. The lesser the better sometimes. It getting crazy.
the dumbest thing ever was the n.o. jazz not rebranding when moving to utah as any other than 'jazz'. polygamists.. whitecaps.. mormons.. salt lakers... anything.
Why does it say Warriors established 1971/72 I'm pretty sure they were in the bay since the 60s and actually established in the 40s, the name changed doesn't signify its establishment
Because I chose to consistently use when each team used its current name. That's all. The Warriors were first established in the 1940s out of Philadelphia before moving to San Francisco, but the *Golden State* Warriors first played in 1971/72.
I like the city edition concept. The jerseys just not living up to it. The be bland. They should stand out and represent the city and make us KNOW for a fact this the city edition.

More Nike means more weak jerseys designed with MS Words every year.. yay....... Also one question, with that Raptor mascot jersey... Is that little 15 gonna change to suit each player's number?
Sorry but NONE of the City Editions nor the NBA Cup courts this year look any good. Nike should just quit with the yearly updates and give the people what they want aka Mamba jerseys/Miami Vice/Suns gradients/Spurs fiesta etc.
