Just want to say a huge thank you for your content. My kiddo is a huge fan and she is obsessed with your channel. Thanks for keeping it kid friendly. She dressed up as a mascot for our local OHL team here for Halloween. If you have an email addy I’ll send it to you. She got a shout out from the real mascot! ❤😂
Something that was not mentioned that I found very cool is Reinhart and Hintz were wearing gold helmets during practice in Finland. Nothing in game but it was cool to see both teams pay homage to the European leagues who do have these for the team's leading scorers.
Something neat is that in addition to the W-B/S Penguins doing a stairstep third jersey to match Pittsburgh, their ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers are also doing a stairstep third jersey (Reading "NAILERS") this season. Theirs is in the Vegas gold color that they still use alternately with Pittsburgh gold. I understand it's a more transient league than the NHL usually is, but I'd love to see a video covering the ECHL's teams like you did for the AHL a while back (No pressure of course, you're a busy guy and there are a lot of other topics to cover). Loved the video!
Another thing to note is the Capitals wore blue helmets with the road uniforms, and will apparently do it one more time and apparently the league has allowed teams to mix and match helmets this year
yes, that one came in a little late to mention here, though it’s not new this year. it’s been going on for a few seasons now with some teams occasionally wearing their dark helmets on the road. CAR and SJ do it most frequently. haven’t seen it the other way around.
@icethetics yeah I love honestly hopefully more teams do it, also any news on how many teams are bringing back alternates next year and if it'll be same alternates or new ones?
Been following icethetics since nearly the beginning. Used to submit (terrible) concepts all the time. Love seeing the growth of the brand, and the content is amazing as always. Never stop please!
Every team should have one game, per season, where they wear white at home. I know Vegas does one every year in October, for Nevada Day,and it's Cool to see Minnesota doing it this year
As a Ducks fan, I couldn't be happier with the rebrand. The logo alone is everything I've wanted for the longest time, and they even improved the balance over the original! While I appreciate the thought that went into the duckfoot D and why they went with it at the time, it's a bit too abstract for its own good and ultimately the Wild Wing mask is what I think most of us associate most strongly with this team. A return to the classic eggplant and jade scheme may have been the icing on the cake but the modern colours have also grown on me - and I'm more than happy to embrace "Orange Country" as long as they're using the correct logo 😁 While I get that the head-to-toe orange look is a bit much for some, I like it a lot. It's very bold and, after years of boring black uniforms, very refreshing. Aside from the ads my only gripe is with the gold stripes touching the orange on the road uniform (which was also something I didn't like about the Reverse Retro 2 jersey) but even that doesn't bother me much and it's still a massive improvement over the mess that was their previous white jersey. Also, kind of funny how the orange started out as a barely visible strip before gradually becoming one of the main focal points of the identity.
There was something that you forgot to mention: at the start of the season, all 32 teams wore a helmet decal in tribute to the Gaudreau brothers. Other than that, as always, you hit the mark.
Great video as always Chris. One thing to note with the Detroit Red Wings, due to the unfortunate sponsor ad on their jerseys the Captain's patch has now been moved back to the left side of Dylan Larkin's jersey along with the Alternate Captains as well.
A small note with Dallas, the sponsor logo on the Blackout Alternate helmets is now 3D. They have not worn them in a game yet, but I just feel like I need to report the only change haha.
haha, there you go, even the smallest thing. for what it’s worth, after I dropped this video, the Kings implemented a 3D version of the wordmark logo on their white helmets too.
I want to say I saw a tweet somewhere that mentioned that the Devils and Sabres only bringing one jersey each for their Global Series games was an agreed upon decision by both clubs so they wouldn’t have to pack 2 sets of uniforms to bring to Prague.
Great video. You did, however, miss the special event jersey the Hartford Wolf Pack (New York Rangers) will be wearing this season honoring 50 years of Hartford hockey. The jersey bears a special shoulder patch for the 50 year anniversary, the Wolf Pack Primary Crest (in blue, silver and green rather than the traditional red, silver and blue) on the chest on the navy and green jersey shell the Whaler's wore in their final seasons in Hartford.
Great video, but you missed the Milwaukee Admirals. They introduced a red "fauxback" to go with their existing cream one, giving them four jerseys. They have also added a new warmup jersey.
yeah, pushing 33 minutes, I just couldn’t get to everything or I’d be editing for another month. 😅 but I am looking forward to seeing that red one in action.
I don’t really mind ads on jerseys or helmets as long as it is blended well with the jersey like Calgary or Nashville or the company’s colour matches well with the team’s colour like Vancouver.
Thank you for these update, your videos are so well made and i like that you put such passion. The question id like to ask is, if I were to buy an authentic on ice jersey, do i get to choose to get the sponsor patch? What i always loved about US/Canada pro sports is not having on the jerseys the sponsors and I'd like to buy a jersey without one. The colours representing the county/city/province is a touch of class. Anaheim, NY or Montréal for instance are one of them.
if you want an authentic jersey without a sponsor patch, I think you can get them directly from Fanatics through the NHL Shop. Usually the only way to get one with a sponsor patch is to go through a team's arena store. Those sponsorships happen at the team level so the jerseys aren't coming out of the factory with those patches.
I'd like to see teams do something a little more unique for the global series. Home vs Home jerseys or colored helmets on white jerseys for instance. Buffalo & Florida would have looked NICE with their blue buckets on thie white away jerseys. Great video as always!
Oh also, I must add that the switch to Fanatics for the on-ice jerseys has been as smooth as ever after all. Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall any on-ice incident or complaints by players about the new jerseys. Sure, we're still early in year one. But may I remind you how the Fanatics-made, but Nike-conceived MLB uniforms was a complete disaster from the start earlier this year. I feel like people expected jerseys to tear down or self-combust. Worst we got so far was a spelling error in Vanecek's jersey the other day, and that's not on Fanatics for once.
The Bruins Centennial Game jersey should’ve been the new primary home jersey and a matching white on the road. Modernize a classic design just to throw it away? Shameful imo.
After watching some of the Devils/Sharks game last night, I was wondering if the Sharks would be wearing their teal helmets exclusively on the road as they did yesterday. Nothing in this video about it, but I think they are one of the teams that does that carries the helmet/light jersey pairing the best.
Yeah, not exclusively, but they do seem to be wearing teal buckets for most road games this year and last half of 23-24. And it’s a great look! So far they’ve only worn the white helmets once-in Vegas on 10/26.
any idea if the stars are getting new 3rd jerseys next season? seems like the blackouts are getting phased out since they are only wearing them 7 times this season.
haven't gotten any reports about a new third or phasing this one out. could be other factors related to why they're using them for fewer games this season.
Do you have a guess on when we could expect news on the Winter Classic and Stadium Series uniforms? With Black Friday approaching I'm a little surprised the WC jerseys aren't out yet. It feels like it would be a perfect Christmas gift
Over the past few seasons, Winter Classic jerseys have been released in late November and Stadium Series in late January. Not sure whether that will remain the case this year under Fanatics.
400$ for a jersey is insane tho. I tried looking for one and the authentic ones go for around 400$. I guess I'm not buying an NHL jersey while fanatics are making them. I remember when reebok used to be 100$ for a blank and 120$ with a name
yeah, Reebok did not sell authentic jerseys for $100. if you want something similar to that Reebok tier, go with the Fanatics Premium jersey. good quality and much more reasonably priced.
Brutal that the Bruins don’t come out without a third jersey. We’ve had the same jerseys for the last 12 years, it is getting pretty old now even though they took a one year off from it
the Moose anniversary jersey is just beautiful they need to make a white jersey of that change them to their home and away i like that logo better then the current .
Utah going with Yeti is just as ridiculous as Seattle going with Kraken and missing a huge opportunity to connect with the local community to help bring the fans together. The luster of a new team will only last so long before it wears out if you mess up the branding.
rough take, honestly. being in Seattle I can say the Kraken have done a phenomenal job of connecting to their local community and they have a brilliant brand. Utah is also taking the time to get it right, which is why they didn’t rush into a name and logo over the summer.
I really wish the NHL would change to having each team have 3 jersies: 1. Dark 2. Light 3. Third With Dark - it has to be a darker color. For Light - it could be white, or even the Nashville Predators Yellow (Along with Vegas/Pittsburgh/etc) ... Third - something differant ... and changes regularly & could be either a light or dark jersey. With each game have the home team pick which they want, dark or light and the other team must have the other. This way Nashville could run with their Light at home, and against other teams who choose Dark at home the Predz could wear their light The Nashville Predz white jersey is generally the worse, but Color vs Color games work well. I could see Winnapeg wanting to do their white out jersies at home most of the time. NOTE: I would love Nashville, my favorite team, to go away from primarlly Yellow, but as long as they are doing it, make it better ...
Sounds like a logistical nightmare for each equipment staff, unless a uniform schedule is made well in advance of the season starting. But in theory it's a good idea and could result in some interesting matchups.
@@Alex_Ertl Are you assuming that there is just one Road Jersey taken on the road? What happens when a team uses a 3rd Jersey on the road, or even their solid? (I've seen games where Nashville Vs Columbus and others and both teams were wearing solids - Nashville in Gold and the other team normally in their solid blue) Yes, the official schedule would be made well in advance, but this is a multibullion dollar organization that can handel it ... especally if it boosts Jersey sales becasue most of the crappy undesired jerseys are the white/away/visitor jerseys .... make all the jerseys desirable by elimiteding the stupid White = away mindset.
@ No, I’m not assuming. I know that sometimes multiple sets are taken on road trips at a time, but I also know teams do everything to avoid it to save their equipment managers the headache and to save money. Don’t forget, it’s not only jerseys and socks that need to be packed because that would be easy. Most teams have multiple sets of helmets/gloves/pants that are different between at least two uniform sets in their lineup. Usually (but not always) these dark on the road or alternate on the road games are a one-off road trip where the crew doesn’t need to bring multiple sets of jerseys and equipment. Of course the big guys with all the money can handle it because they’re not the ones hauling equipment on trucks on the road. The little guys-equipment managers and their assistants-would find having to pack multiple sets of equipment for a road trip a total pain. The point about making a uniform schedule well in advance is to save as much headache from top to bottom as possible. Not sure if it would boost jersey sales, but the potential exposure at home and not having white be designated as the away could help.
@@Alex_Ertl My bet, aas long as the Jersey Schedule is known before the season starts ... the pack list would be about the same. Maybe some slight adjustments, but if they are playing X games on this trip, they would generally bring Y copies of everything and at most it would be one more due to using Dark vs Light vs Third.
Just like the acutal sport itself, its pricing its fans right out of the sport. $500 for an authentic game ready jersey? The NHL and fanatics can get F'd. Just like $379 sticks and $900 skates. Ridiculous. Look I get there's tiers, but my effin god. 25 years ago, there was the authentic for $100.
I hear that. Just have to remember inflation and the fact that hockey jerseys are made entirely different now than they were back then. More expensive bespoke materials, different sourcing, and frankly, a more valuable overall product. I promise you 25 years ago, plenty of people were scoffing at spending $100 on a hockey jersey. But the tiers are important. If you want a watch, you don’t need a Rolex. That’s really what we’re really talking about with these MiC authentics.
@@icethetics I get it. I just needed a little "get off my lawn!" venting. I'm good now. Just have to wait when the seattle sports store in bel square has grubauer jerseys for $75 in July after he gets released. BTW great vid.
@@Dbomb81fyi the 500$ jerseys are in a whole other level than what adidas was previously offering. You’ll still be able to get those too at a cheaper price
@@JD200_ yeah I get that, but in 1994 That's all CCM sold was ether the replica or the on ice jersey and that was $125. And yes inflation and materials, research, technology, blah blah blah blah. Look jerseys were affordable until reebok came into the game and skyrocketed the on ice version from $150 to $300 in 1 year! And replicas are over $100 its riduclous. Who's got money for that?? I've got 3 kids who love the game and its astronomical to fit them out when equipment is ungodly expensive, not even including the ice time, you"d think the nhl would say "ummm other sports are price gouging the fans with apparel we shouldn't" but no Betteman's got no clue.
@ On a more constructive side, I would like you to take a real position on the matter of ads instead of deviating the subject or saying that is for an another time (when?) I find too polite to limiting your comments by saying « unfortunately » when you talk about a team that takes the decision to incorporate an ad patch. Personally, I think it is bigger than the change of jersey brand for what it does to the esthetic appreciation of the game. Will you dive into a critical view on the subject or will you keep avoiding?

There is a slight rebrand with Montréal's AHL affiliate Laval Rocket. Arm band added, back band removed, number color switch on the red uniform.

When are winter classics jerseys usually released for sale? Those hawks jerseys look sick
The last couple seasons, they were announced in late November.
Always excited for a new Icethetics video! Could've called it "2024-25 Jersey Overview" though, if you didnt want to use "preview".

With Washington keeping the eagle jersey it really devalues the retro eagle jersey. They were meant to a one-off jersey

Rangers alternates are the worst I’ve ever seen from them!
I really wish the NHL would change to having each team have 3 jersies:
1. Dark
2. Light
3. Third
With Dark - it has to be a darker color.
This way Nashville could run with their Light at home, and against other teams who choose Dark at home the Predz could wear their light
The Nashville Predz white jersey is generally the worse, but Color vs Color games work well.
(I've seen games where Nashville Vs Columbus and others and both teams were wearing solids - Nashville in Gold and the other team normally in their solid blue)
Yes, the official schedule would be made well in advance, but this is a multibullion dollar organization that can handel it ... especally if it boosts Jersey sales becasue most of the crappy undesired jerseys are the white/away/visitor jerseys .... make all the jerseys desirable by elimiteding the stupid White = away mindset.
Ps I’m gonna have to lie to her and say I didn’t watch it without her 😂

@@icethetics update
She’s watching it and she already shushed me and it hasn’t even started yet
Thanks again for all your hard work!
haha, happy she’s enjoying it! thank you both for watching! 💙
I hope Fanatics changes the design of the collars in the coming years. They're disproportionately thick; it's distracting.
The NHL is selling skates for $900 and sticks for $379? That's preposterous! How can someone be an NHL fan without skates? Disgusting
Car has the worst jersey in the league. 2nd worst actually, Van will always have the worst color scheme
Winter classic sucks. This match up is DOA. Two terrible teams.
Old news + ad updates zzzzzzz…
welcome to your first jerseywatch...
Gross "fanatics" UUGGG. Lose the awful awful music.
but nice video.
