They're different kinds of bass players... Jason was a rhythmic bass player, Cliff was a melodic/lead bass player. Jason is basically the Hetfield of bass players, and Cliff was like the Hammett/Mustaine of bass players. Jason doesn't suck, he's just more rhythmic.
