"stay under the timer to anti-air"... *mind blown*
1:21 Me, dashing directly into Heavenly Pot Buster for the 5th time.
The advice of, “if it hits Fafnir, if they block it Gunflame, if they jump meet them in air” actually made me so much better
Other than dustloop, there's an old series on called Guilty Bits that goes over some character specifics in a fairly beginner friendly manner. Its from like 2012 so the production quality ain't great, but the info is pretty good.
The same channel has a Guilty Gear crash course that runs through fundamentals and system mechanics.
Ironically the creator of that series is the exact same "somebody" who was aggressively misinterpreting the intent of Sajam's 2 minute tutorials on Twitter LOL.
Based on the Guilty Bits video, I can only assume that he was offended by the prospect of somebody potentially making a Zato tutorial any shorter than 11 minutes and 20 seconds.
@@YoJimbo0321 The guilty bits videos are cool and handy, but that dudes general fgc opinions are very out of pocket imo
@@Samflaful Yeah... I don't want to just one-sidedly dumpster people in RUclips comments, but I can't help but also think of the time he picked a fight with LordKnight and SKD on Twitter when they were discussing how rhythm games can be a fun way to practice your reaction speed and target recognition skills for fighting games.
It's weird bc his content like Guilty Bits, Airdash Academy, and Exploring Fighting Games are all great and actually work to dispel some close-minded attitudes about the genre, but his own attitude on Twitter is often so at odds with that philosophy. Sucks because I think he's one of the best general fighting game resource creators out there, all else aside.
Jump back > airdash forward is the hardest habit to break I swear.
It's cool that I play a character without an airdash so I couldn't even do that if I could lol
Order Sols seem to be addicted to doing this.
@@wolfrox777 Guilty as charged. lmao
@@Copperhell144 I kept anti airing one guy over and over I was like DUDE STOP. You know what will happen! Lol
Gotta break that fast.
airdashing is so cool though why would i ever not want to do it
he didn't say don't air dash. he said jump back air dash forward is an obvious option that doesn't get you anything. it's like you're responding to the thumbnail
@@andylawlzz en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joke
@@ZeludeRose You might want to read that definition over yourself, because you forgot to include the humor; the most important part of every joke.
irony is a shield for the unfunny.
@@animeprofilepicture8855 humor is subjective is something people forget as well
I might have been in the thread Sajam referred to at the beginning of the video. It was a misunderstanding on the complainer's part and Sajam clarified, but I was trying to explain Sajam's reasoning behind the 2-minute tutorials before that and it was going _badly._ I'm glad Sajam showed up when he did.
My main take away from this video is that there's better neutral options out there than just airdashing, good to know!
airdashing directly at your opponent is very much a transition to offense rather than a choice in neutral you want to be making (most of the time)
@@jawnsunn Ah, thanks! There are very few times that I make the decision to airdash backward. Nice to know I'm doing something right!
Kardashian is kind of like the forward jump if you want to do it a lot pick Millia or Jam
"Something that you think is very easy, is actually very difficult for new players." PREACH IT! I started playing Strive recently and I don't even have the muscle memory for all the button placements to DO the combos in the first place. I'm mostly just doing 3 hit bandit bringer combos in actual matches.
im 0-13 at the time of watching this, will report back
1 hour later... 0-30 B)
UPDATE 1-31! but my opponents score still says 0-0 cmon man i feel robbed
Feels bad dude, I got the game and I'm waiting until I get my long break from school to jump into it. What character are you tryna play?
Gj dude. This is just one part of a good offense, but it makes you really irritating to fight against when you mix up your approach options.
Get them dubs
Zilkiffal Ali mostly Ky and Millia so far. Ky has always been my standby because hes so straightforward, but i havent found a solid bnb for him and it also feels kinda hard to get in and confirm. Millia has more mix and i have a good bnb with her rejump/corner-carry combo, but it doesnt matter when im constantly playing defense against Sols and they explode my health bar...
I'm guilty of the constant "air dash to cover ground" tactics, this video helped a lot though.
Hi, hope everyone has a great day today
I was hoping youd teach us sols sw or dust loops in future videos , i just cant get it right but you seem to pull them off , much love and respect .
This game has soo much going on. I decided to play Slayer and the timing of every link is incredibly hard. I have yet to pull off anything cool with him but my Blazblue buddies tell me I got some sauce with him so I'll just keep trying.
This is quickly replacing BBCF as my main game. I still do a lot of IAD and backjump airdash forward, but the latter usually is because I fuckup the backdash cancel.
Production value on those "guilty bits" videos is rough, and the 90 seconds intro is killing me, but right now it's the only thing we have. We need more people doing small bits like this one.
Wierd how the thumbnail was a big help despite me not even playing Sol.
I honestly learned more in this short vid than i have most other much longer tutorial vids. Thank you
Can we get a series of 2 minute fighting game tutorials
no
Man, up back>forward airdash is all I knew about approaching when learning P4 Arena back in the day. I feel called out.
Sajam straight up exposed my air backdash -> forward dash tactics
Not really related sajam but are you going to talk about alex valle being a boomer all over twitter? And why withholding game info is outdated and doesn't help the over community
He’ll probably cover it on stream on Monday & then it’ll be put into a video sometime next week? You should check out the stream if you haven’t yet! It’s a fun place & he always covers FGC topics in the first hour or so.
@@ragnarokhead19000 I'm already following but I'd rather what the RUclips uploaded than stay for the entire twitch
I will unwillingly talk about it probably because it's 99% of my timeline
If you're playing a soul crouching / or standing slash into standing hardslash range is pretty good. You kind of does everything in between those ranges
Novril tataki? Xd
Yes lol
Wow. I wish I knew all this stuff in highschool when I played this game a lot.
All I'd ever do was dash in with 2.k and it would sometimes lead to a 6.p, which would lead to an aerial BnB.
And yeah, I have the bad habbit of jumping back to dash forward.
Does anybody know where you can find good beginner character guides for this game?
www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Guilty_Gear_XX_Accent_Core_%2B_R all you need
Guilty Bits is also good for very simple and easy to understand character overviews
@@lumagen1882 the guilty bits videos are also linked on some of the character overviews.
@@devilhitman24 oh yeah you're right lol, I forgot
There's dustloop, and guilty bits, but the first is missing a bunch of info like common combo routes on some characters and the latter is a product of its time, with insane intro length, and is more about telling you what a character can do so you can choose which one to play, rather than an actual guide on the characters.
The best you can do is probably to find the main discord and hang out in the character specific channels. There are a bunch of people being super active over there, trying to figure this out together. I don't have a link right now but it's probably not gonna be too hard to find on reddit
Thanks for this
Mind explaining why neutral jumping is better than jump back > Airdash? It help me understand why that option is better. Thank you
Basically when you've neutral jumped you have the option to back off, react to your opponent, air block etc and you're generally safe at neutral because you can block an air approach. When you air dash, you're locked in the air dash until the animation completes so you can get combo'd out if they're ready for it. It's not always better but it gives you far more room to play in a way they can't immediately predict since it doesn't lock you into the dash option.
@@InsaneVisionary Gotcha. So you cant do as much while airdashing in this game, and you have the option to react to alot more. Thanks for the info ^_^
My best guess up til now was that you want to "Stay in" generally speaking instead of backing off cause I know Guilty Gear awards aggression alot (at least with meter), but even then, that would probably be a character specific thing on what range you want to be at.
jump back air dash is also bad because the jump back itself does nothing, there is no pressure that comes from it. so all you end up with is a pointless jump that telegraphs your incoming air dash.
like the other commenter said, neutral jump leaves your options open. if you neutral jump and see that they're whiffing normals, you can airdash in and punish them for it. that then gives the opponent something to be afraid of and eventually neutral jump alone becomes a threat. once they're scared of your neutral jump they'll start trying to deal with it, and the way they deal with it will leave them open in some way. they won't always be whiffing normals for you to react to, but they will be doing something, and that will open the neutral game up.
@@ccchefccheffchefff Ah gotcha. Makes alot of sense. Thanks to you too ^_^
2 min tutorial by sajam
Is the rollback only implemented on PC?
Yes
Yes.
If you're worried about that, it's $3 on steam and can run on a potato.
Yeah, but it’s in beta so they’re going to take it out, though it’s 3 dollars and runs pretty wells on any laptop
@@raychangalarza179 I believe they were looking into keeping the beta available
do a tutorial explaining burst, its not in other fighting games so 0 idea what it is or how to use it
Burst comes in 2 forms in guilty gear: Gold and regular and you can only use it when your burst gauge in under your hp is glowing orange. You can activate burst at any time while you're being combo'd and it will come out as a regular burst. It will usually break your opponent's combo if they haven't taken precautions against it (baiting it by being out of range, predicting it and stopping their combo to block and reset you etc). If you press burst while not being combo'd, it will come out gold and will give you full meter (max tension) if you hit your opponent with it. You get one burst at the start of the match and once you use it, it will slowly recharge as actions are taken in the match and you'll be unable to burst until it does. It does no damage when it connects and is the only resource that carries through rounds.
I hope that helps!! I tried my best to make it concise while covering everything.
Also, generally you'd want to use it defensively either to avoid a combo you know will do massive damage or to stop a round/match loss. The gold burst is far more risky
did the outro nit render or was that a 2 min gag?
0:10 "all tutorials have to be 2 minutes or less"
>video is 2;11
nice
I get mad at people who approach like in the thumbnail. They still do it after you AA every time
but i wanna do phat 25-50% combos that shits lame
I'm in this video and I don't like it.
Sanam would this work with previous version of guilty gear accent core
Why wouldn't it
Most of this applies to pretty much any anime fighter. The basic blockstring is usually something like 5A5B5C into special. If they're blocking, you use a safe special. If not, you use a different one for more damage. Same goes for neutral jumping and approaching with air options.
@@eduardoserpa1682 thanks and also any way to improve upon execution. I have an ps3 controller and analogue stick is extremely sensitive. For, example if try to do a 90 degree angle motion on it it assume that I am trying to jump instead of doing a special move.
@@mikeneil74 I reccomend you try using the d-pad, as it is generally more precise/easier to use
@@mikeneil74 Same as the gentleman above. I used to play on the analog stick, but it always felt inconsistent.
I lost so many times because I thought I was holding down-back (1), but the actual input on the controller was just crouching (2). Or accidentally jumping forward instead of neutral jump or 236 or missing the timing for an IAD.
You could definitely stick with the stick and do well with it because the motion inputs are definitely smoother. Switching to D-Pad helped me a lot, though (even if it took me about a week to get used to doing motion inputs on it).
after dragon ball super the new series will introduce its own new transformation (like all anime) so new name should be dragon ball transformer's
Says all tutorials don't need to be less than two minutes.
Releases another tutorial less than two minutes.
theres no one who plays this game on switch lmao im alone
