Steven, you are so correct, I was illegally charged with felony assault of a police officer and it was amended to misdemeanor assault. After a year and a half of going to court I finally just plead out. But they didn't quit there , they kept the felony on my record for every employer who could hire me. And don't think that these people don't know what they are doing.
That is an important disctinction! And I had not really thought of the implications of it before--thank you! That gives me a lot to meditate on! -taya :)
As long as the public is made aware, this can work. More people to be angry at having to pay for bad cops, where they live. Those that recover must be sure that silence isn't part of the payout! Some auditors have used the settlements to arrange community events to highlight what caused the suit. I highly recommend such as possible.
That is true! And even if the town has insurance that pays off the victims for the cop's crime--the taxpayers paid for that insurance! A system where officer have individual bonds which they pay for, where they have to pay out and of course risk losing that bond for too many incidents which can cause them to lose--their job might work! It might be difficult to successfully pass any sort of widespread law to insure officers have to pay directly out of pocket, for damages. But for the individual officer (or a group of officers) having to pay out of pocket for bond insurance and their insurance rate goes up every time an officer has a sustained claim against them might encourage peer pressure towards better behavior as well as cause the group of officers to feel the impact of the individual officers' bad behavior-- both the individual and the group would feel the impact in their wallet- it could make a real difference! Just some ideas! And I am open to hearing more ideas too! -thanks so much for your comment! -taya :)
LEOs should NOT be able to ‘resign in lieu of termination’ ….nor should they be able to resign while under any IA of DA investigations of policy violations or alleged crimes. Keep ‘em on desk duty until investigations are completed - rather than give them a lengthy paid vacation(eg., paid leave).
I completely agree, allowing LEO to resign in lieu of termination allows officers to become what used to be called "gyspy cops" before that terminology was considered inappropriate. I have seen so many examples where a police officer resigns instead of facing formal discipline or criminal charges only to move to another state to become a police officer! One case I often think of led to the death of Anton Black in Greensboro Maryland. I met Anton's family, learned a lot about him and the incredible life he was going to live. The officer that aggressively initiated the arrest that led to his death, is named Thomas Webster. He had to resign from his former employers in Delaware after several brutality complaints and being caught on camera kicking a compliant an unarmed man in the head. He came down to work in Greensboro MD, and engaged in the tasering, chokehold that killed the unarmed 19 yro Anton. This young man had just gotten his first big acting job (it was a small movie spot) and was practicing for the role. He had come back from New York to visit his mother and father. He had so much promise, he weighed 158lbs and died on the front steps of his mother's home. He is one of many examples of the tragedies the occur when brutal police are allowed to escape consequences. -taya
Most of the officers who cause big lawsuits have patterns of bad behaviour over a long time that never gets addressed, in my mind, one bad officer means the whole department is bad.
No, all police "habe a history if bad behavior ". Some just get caught enough that sometimes things are done. Then they goto the next town and get a job. We need to abolish police forces.
I think you make a good point because if there is an officer engaging in criminal activity and his fellow officers do nothing to report this behavior and hold him or her accountable than the officer essentially has co conspirators or accomplices to their crimes. It is the true meaning of the "bad apples" theory. One bad apple spoils the bunch! Thanks for your comment! -taya :)

I see willful blindness, Malice and Malicious actions on the part of Upper management of Police. If upper management has no regard for citizens why would the street cop care?
I have the answer to Stephen's question at 25:30 - why wouldn't the cop make several steps to the store and asked what happened. The answer is - why would he? The cop could not care less about the store or store owner, he despises him just as much as the guy he is confronting. His goal is to make an arrest. Like any other cop, he has in his arsenal dozens of completely legal ways to fabricate an arrest of anyone he contacted literally out of the thin air, and the call from the store created sufficient prerequisite to contact him. He already has all he needs. Why would he bother to talk to the store?
My biggest problem with bad policing is. Even though you get cleared and sometimes paid for what wrong they have done. Its the fact that the next law enforcement agency that runs your name sees that you had an arrest for these FALSE things. BUT doesn't know that it was false/untrue. Therefore they change how they handle/respond to the interaction. Sometimes becoming physically abusive to you.
They would just raise the budget. Government protects its thugs. Idk why peopel can't see it or ask themselves basic questions. Explwin how you are fre if government has complete "legal" authority over you. Even to end your life. Does the state have the authority to give itself authority over you? Do I habe authority over you to give government authority over you? All police forces are unconstitutional and a violation of our riguts. We are supposed to be self governing. Wherw rhe communities police ourselves without any government involvement.
@@FreedomInc IDU, that’s the way it has been. All local government city, township, village, county, usually have their own police forces, with their own training, Enforcing ordinances that don’t contradict larger jurisdictions. So local ordinances can’t violate the rights of state constitutionality, state ordinances can’t violate federal constitutionality. This is who republican forms of government works. There are benefits and than there are detriments for each. It’s also not anti constitutional, as jurisprudence is decided by the supreme federal court systems.
@@uncomfortabletruth3831 you completely missed it. I hate to be the one to tell you this bit the Supreme Court is not the arbiter of truth or fact. Not even the constitution. The people are. So the 18 specific powers that are granted to government are in article 1 section 8. Cite where we the peopel (that includes me) gave government the authority to police society. You can't. Why? Because it doesn't exist. Why? If you would take the time to read the letters, journal entries, and essays from Jefferson specifically, Maddison and a few others. They are very clear about the intent. Which was self governance. Including communities policing themselves. A government with the authority to police is one with the authority to enslave. As we have seen since we are all slaves to that government today. This is thanks to the flock dwellers like yourself who are incapable of educating yourself or even rational thought.
They should be publicly shamed every time they violate a citizen's rights they should be put right in the center of town holding a sign saying I violated your rights they should be not paid it should be a unpaid administrative leave and they should be put on blast they should be publicly shamed right in the center of town in front of all the people whose lives that they violated it should be given I don't understand why we're put on blast we are publicly shamed anytime were arrested or we go to jail this thing same thing should happen to them even worse because they're held to higher expectation
Always appreciate the informative videos, I wish we could get more laws on the books that protect average citizens from Police Overreach. Especially considering a majority of Cop don't even understand the laws they suppose to enforce.
Yes, more laws. Jist what we need. Imagine if all of the grazers woke up. And they could ask themselves basic questions. Or if they understood what riguts are or knew and understood our founding documents. Police forces are completely unconstitutional and a violation of our rights. They are thugs with one task. To rule the people.
The laws are already present. They just don't follow them like they should. Because of their egos they THINK they are allowed to treat the way they do. When as we know they aren't.
When will the people walk around the PD (for starters) like Hebrews around Jericho, and straighten the jackals out. NDAs should be unlawful. WE THE PEOPLE pay, WE THE PEOPLE know what we pay!
I appreciate that so much! I wish I could share all the stories of people we have helped get some justice because there have been a lot! But it is a drop in the ocean compared to the number of people that have been victimized, robbed, brutalized, traumatized, exploited, abused, and even killed by police. And so many people reach out to us and I can't help them all. I actually have to take a week off making the show just so I can go through all the messages from people who have asked for help. I 100% agree! I am really proud to work with him and I have learned so much because he is a talented investigative reporter. I am really grateful he helped mentor me- taya
This is happening to me right now. I'm disabled and facing a misdemeanor a theft charge from a ex whom I can't get protection from. He has tried to file other charges and found to be wrong. He tried to get me evicted and was found to give false claims. I was arrested on a warrant not read my Miranda rights until I was let out on bond. They left my back door open with my service dog alone home. The female cop grabbed my private to where I jumped up in surprise and squeeled out of shock. My ex said I stole items and pawned them. It was stuff I had accumulated over years I had to pawn to help pay bills. The investigator never talked to me and no one could tell me why I was arrested. None of the courts have an open case on me. I feel so unsafe and have no means to relocate. Now I'll be evicted and not be able to get housing again for 2 years of I get a guilty charge. It's a small town, I'm not homegrown here and that family has a lot of pull. In jail in intake on a Sunday at 7 they arrested me and told me to piss in a cup and sign for medical record release that it was part of regular protocol and procedure.
If we want the whole police accountable, then we need to get rid of qualified immunity. A police officer violates your constitutional rights can claim qualified immunity it doesn't hold the cops accountable for their actions. As a private citizen where is my qualified immunity police should be held to a higher standard they're there to enforce the laws by giving them qualified immunity allows the police officer to violate people's constitutional right. They're not being held at a higher standard they're being held at a lower standard because they can claim qualified immunity when they're clearly violating the law
@@therealnews since you were kind enough to read and reply,I would really like to thank you for all that you do,and for bringing some respectability to the police accountability movement. If I may be so bold as to make a request ,I would greatly appreciate your efforts to focus a little more on WV. I have traveled all over the nation, and I'm aware that every state believes that they have the worst law enforcement officers. I'm telling you though,WV is in a legend of its own. Even the great Jeff from Honor Your Oath was quick to realize that these guys are way too quick to brutalize and delete your videos. I could tell you stories about my experiences with them "even at 14yrs old" that would kill parts of your soul to hear. In my town, the Chief raped every teenage girl that came from a poor family and kept getting caught, but no punishment at all. I can easily get ya some great footage of how they act,but I need access to a lawyer and the ability to stream video while recording, because they do not wear cameras and will gladly beat you down, take your camera, and delete it while they fabricate felonies to claim you did. It is actually really really bad here with police brutality and corruption. I watched them beat a man to death a while back,he complied with every order they gave him but they still beat him to death, and in the paper I read that the guy "killed himself,by fleeing from the cops through the woods so hard that he beat himself with tree branches while running, and so badly that he died from his injuries". They pull young pretty girls over all the time, and pull a bag of drugs from their own pockets and say "look what I just found while searching you!" And then make them a deal that they can go to prison for 10yrs,or meet them and let them have their way with'em. I am poor, but intelligent, articulate, informed, and civil "and above all else humble, lol". If there is something I could do to help to bring accountability to our local police,I would happily do it. I am a father of 2 beautiful daughters and an autistic sweet boy,and my girls are almost the age that they start harassing them at "14". I refuse to allow my children to go through what I had to with them around that age. Our state police have been making the news for their corruption, but they are not even scratching the surface. I apologize for writing a book, again I love you and have so much respect for you and your teams efforts and principles. Our state, and it's small towns could really use some of your alls attention and help. I am willing, but I cant afford to risk it without footage back ups and a lawyer. In fact, its so bad here,if one were to have a descent lawyer and a way to back up the footage,if one were motivated by money, they could so easily find a lawsuit that pays well without even trying, simply exercise your 1st,4th or 5th Am and watch them immediately jump to violence. I dont want money though,I want positive change and to no longer worry about my daughters safety. I am fine with that motivating anyone that could help though. Please think about it,and maybe look into our state,or find a way to help someone here to video some, but with legal support for when the cops do what they do to those type. If you were awesome enough to read this whole message then you are the real deal and I am now certain that you are a legend among men. I love you and your team and hope nothing but the very best for all of you. Thank you,and have a great day.
That officer alleged tickets and all arrests and crime's need to be fully investigating is needed officer for corruption because he has been involved in setting citizens up and not his department to be involved in anything about this issue because they known he was corrupted
You destroy my imagination limitation. I once watched the "news" for several weeks because I turned 18 just before the 2000 election It blew my mind that anyone felt informed by the opportunity cost that is MSM. After commercials, fluff & local rubber necking it boiled down to 7 min of horse race. YOU and your peers are the most basic prerequisite for us to hope we will one day live in a democracy. Heros.
Your work is great, needed and appreciated. Taya is perfect to appear on camera. Taya talks with the best pronunciation of the English language. It is human to show some emotion. Taya even knows when to turn off the camera if she believes there might be too much emotion that can lead to bad language. Steve, glad you are inside, if the sun cooperates. If it should be too cold and stormy then please let him in. Nobody that loves their pets would want them to stay outside, so pleeeeeese let him in! So glad to see updates. Nobody deserves to be humiliated, beaten, have their livelihood threatened, or taken away. ALL for being totally INNOCENT, by INCOMPETENT officers. Anyone who happens to want to become officers usually have good intentions. They more than anything want to be GREAT officers. Sadly the perfectionist, the real unbiased, most professionalistic ones , either turn bad, resign or lose their minds, lose their jobs. Or worst yet lose their lives. Hopefully not. Sad fact that it is part of the job description. Plus if you weed out the corrupt ones you might be left with nobody. If a nurse or doctor can be legally held responsible then why leave out police officers. A doctor or nurse or orderly even through home care can be sued personally then why leave out police officers. That alone would be incentive enough to become the best you can be. Wasn’t that a slogan for another job? Sadly anyone who becomes a “innocent victim” and becomes poor and broke due to legal representation (issues) or lack of, should win compensation equal to before it began. With continual payment when livelihood is lost. If more ex-law enforcement officers have to get other jobs to pay out half their salaries for their bad policing practices would prevent more bad officers.
If you do what they demand and show then your ID then what is happening is you're continuing to give them the power the supposed authority that they have because they don't have authority over US unless we have committed a crime and you didn't commit a crime you were standing up for your rights
I appreciate your putting my question on the air, but I already went through it and have videos and documents after the incident. The only thing I disagree with this segment, is that I believe false hopes are being put on the site regarding your rights and not just the first, but all the amendments. Especially when confronted by corrupt feds and pd. I have decades of documents and videos showing corruption.
We have to give hope, otherwise people will just give up fighting! And when we give up, we have definitely lost. But I can understand how you feel. And you absolutely have the right to feel that way because of your experiences. But I have to try to encourage others to keep fighting for their rights, we can't give up hope, or all is lost-in my opinion. I wish you the very best. -taya :)
Look, I live in a really small town. I caught a pedophile at the playground the cops did not initially arrest, which blew my mind. You would not believe that police officers don't know the sex offenders' law They are law enforcement, yet they failed to read the laws that would protect our children. I went and filed a complaint with the State Police Department because they failed to arrest him. They ended up arresting him, but now the police had it out for me because I filed a complaint on them. I simply purchased a police body camera, and when they were pulling me over, it was captured on camera every single time I had the camera right out and view they could clearly see it. I walked in and talked to the police captain. I said look pull any of your officers in here." I ask them every time they pulled me over, and I have a camera and a police body camera on full display for your officers to see. What your officers are doing is called harassment I support law enforcement. I don't want to get you in trouble. I don't want to file criminal charges against your officers or file a lawsuit against you off for the harassment that I'm receiving. Your officers failed to enforce sex offenders laws after catching the pedophile at the playground. My goal is to protect the children. Your goal is to harass an innocent citizen reporting a crime. I will always do what's right if that means standing up to the police officers. You all are not intimidating. The only thing that you're doing is giving me more evidence to use against you. So you can either correct the police officers' behavior and pull me over for legitimate reasons, or you can keep harassing me, and we can go to the next step. I've never been pulled over again, and yes, I keep the police body cameras on it just in case. So I am Pro police but I understand that some law enforcement officers want to support their team even when they're police officers are the ones being bad. I'm not one that will back down. I'm not intimidated by them. They are law enforcement they should be held to a higher standard then the normal citizen by giving a police officer qualified immunity, giving them a get-out-of-jail-free card. They're allowed to violate the law. If we ended qualified immunity, this would hold police accountable. We need to also get rid of no-knock warrants this is beyond stupid. If someone breaks into my house, I have the right to defend myself. If I know these are police officers coming into my house, then I would definitely not be grabbing for my gun The police officers are like we didn't knock on your door or announce that we were police officers but you have the right to defend your home but you can't shoot at us or grab had a gun when we break into your house unannounced😮 So I can lose my life because police officers broken in my house unannounced😮
I think you should be really proud of yourself not only for standing up to protect children and not giving up when you met resistance but for being smart enough to stand up for yourself against the police harassment by making sure you had your cameras ready. And I think your recommendations to help reform policing make good sense-thank you for sharing your story! -taya :)

I believe corrupt policing is exemplary of the canary in the coal mine and is one of the most important issues Facing Americans. Unfortunately, the fanatical right is so entrenched in distracting propaganda, they can’t take their heads out of their A holes long enough to notice the oppressive policing unless it happens to them.
Unfortunately the masses are asleep. And can't ask themselves basic questions. Or they know notbikg about history, our founding documents, or rights. Police.forces are completely unconstitutional and a violation of the rights of the people.
You're a great Team and I enjoy your perspectives / commentary on Policing. I would like to recommend that you do some "special" programming on the Culture of Policing. Interrogate Racism / White Privilege / Supremacy within the Force; interrogate how some Black and People of Colour often times Collude in protecting the Police Culture of White Domination. Interrogate the false rhetoric that the Suspect has a "Gun" , is "reaching", and the "Stop Resisting" claims that cops and the state mobilize to "justify" police violence / Murder. Interrogate how the State is often "deputizing" ordinary citizens to act as "Vigilantes----ie the recent Jordan Neely chokehold murder in NYC. Policing / Accountability cannot be discussed and understood in a "Colourblind" ideology vacuum.
Sometimes, I wish Real News would turn their Gaze Northward to Canada to see Similarities in Policing. We are not immune from Bad Policing, Overreach, Toxic Police Culture, Racism in profiling / targeting Black and People of Colour.
I just want to say one thing and I'll stop commenting because I'm sure everybody's probably sick of it but why don't they teach the constitution in school anymore?
I agree with you Ryan once it’s on your record it’s always held against you in the eyes of law. You could be in the same situation 20yrs later wrong place wrong time and be innocent but yet be assumed guilty cause of past history on your record
That is very true! That charge that sits on your record whether you pressured to plead guilty to a lesser charge or someone looks up your record and sees that you were charged even if the case is dismissed-- people assume "where there is smoke, there is fire." People assume you must have done SOMETHING to deserve those charges and it affects the way they look at your for a job, for housing, for a loan etc etc And if you have the misfortune to be in the wrong place and the wrong time 20 yrs later the police will look at that charge and presume that you are more likely to be guilty than innocent. You are right, and it's crying shame. -taya
@@therealnews so true. I no plenty of people who had their lives and careers ruined for wrongful charges . I no cops lie on reports to make a stronger arrest stick. How ever once all this is entered into the system innocent peoples lives are damaged. In some states you might get lucky and get your case expunged but it still raises a red flag when applying for good jobs. There has to be a way this can be changed it’s so devastating to a person trying to be productive in this society. Once again another demonstration on how our government doesn’t want to help us the people.
I just went for jury duty and I have marijuana felonies from 30 years ago with a clean record ever since. The prosecutor acted like I was a dangerous felon even though they are marijuana offenses and dismissed me from jury duty. He even had a baliff escort me out of the court with his hand on his gun. The baliff escorted me all the way to an elevator with his hand on his gun like I was going to go ballistic any second. It was just so ridiculous but they were really being comically serious about it.
I think if charges are dropped or you are not guilty at trial, that record should disappear. At least all details and charges be sealed from view, even by law enforcement Just give a name and a date. And say dropped or not guilty

Never generalize these things ...I agree with this to some extent, having said that I personally have no complaints about "Police " as a whole in this country . There are a LOT of Good , serious , honest people (Police officers ) working ,in very dangerous environments, underfunded and having to deal with other logistic issues ,low wages etc,etc , to keep you and your community safe . I´ve personally have witnessed this 1st hand on multiple occasions ...one Police intervention ,probably ,even saved my life .

Should be repricousions for "News Channels" that run news reports that aren't fully vetted and cause issues to people's reputation! If you google someone's name and one of the first thing that comes up is a false arrest or narrative they should also be liable for lawsuits. I think the Dominion lawsuit should be new case law. It would make everyone liable and culpable for mistakes
An exhaustive investigation needs to be conducted prior to filing a lawsuit on anyone. However the police dept and oftentimes the AG who has to defend COPS, REFUSES to conduct an good faith investigation on themselves. What does a citizen do in that case? The police and AG and Legislators won't investigate their policies and procedures or the incident. Citizens desperately need a channel like this to help them. An investigation can take two years or more
Our media is owned & "news" is no more than a narrative echo chamber. Federal statute allows complete lies to be broadcast without repercussion, unless it's accurate reporting on the plandemic.

Wrongful Detainment Arrest and Imprisonment needs to stop as soon as possible.
Yeah, injustice IS the "justice" system. When the police are 99.9% fascists, what could go right??
This is the most important thing I ever have seen you guys have said. I enjoy the way you are on spot of people's rights.
I appreciate our rights and those that stand firm for them. The 2nd ammendment is there incase the first one is abused.
Once they put the cuffs on you you’re considered guilty and must prove your innocence that needs to stop
The money for lawsuit should come from the cops pension and the police budget
The whole system is a joke.
The courts are just as corrupted as the rest of the system
They would just raise the budget. Government protects its thugs. Idk why peopel can't see it or ask themselves basic questions. Explwin how you are fre if government has complete "legal" authority over you. Even to end your life.
Does the state have the authority to give itself authority over you? Do I habe authority over you to give government authority over you? All police forces are unconstitutional and a violation of our riguts. We are supposed to be self governing. Wherw rhe communities police ourselves without any government involvement.
@@FreedomInc
IDU, that’s the way it has been.
All local government city, township, village, county, usually have their own police forces, with their own training,
Enforcing ordinances that don’t contradict larger jurisdictions.
No city, town or state should be allowed to have undisclosed settlements, taxpayers should know where all the money goes.

I have learned a lot from this show. Thank you so much.
I give you both A+.
Can we please do an episode on organized stalking and the role law enforcement officer play in this supposed to be illegal psychological operation
Love ya Taya
Thank you so much for your kindness! We appreciate you! -taya :)
How about a detective squad in Philadelphia murdering the child they refused to show the video to the public

Amazing show!
-taya :)
Sue the newspaper too.
Look, I live in a really small town. I caught a pedophile at the playground the cops did not initially arrest, which blew my mind. You would not believe that police officers don't know the sex offenders' law
They are law enforcement, yet they failed to read the laws that would protect our children.
If I know these are police officers coming into my house, then I would definitely not be grabbing for my gun
The police officers are like we didn't knock on your door or announce that we were police officers but you have the right to defend your home but you can't shoot at us or grab had a gun when we break into your house unannounced😮
So I can lose my life because police officers broken in my house unannounced😮
I think you should be really proud of yourself not only for standing up to protect children and not giving up when you met resistance but for being smart enough to stand up for yourself against the police harassment by making sure you had your cameras ready. And I think your recommendations to help reform policing make good sense-thank you for sharing your story! -taya :)

The baliff escorted me all the way to an elevator with his hand on his gun like I was going to go ballistic any second. It was just so ridiculous but they were really being comically serious about it.
