It is an understatement for me to say I appreciate you and what you and your team are doing. I was once thrown in jail in a small town in Southern Illinois on the false charge of failing to help a police officer upon a command and the guy never asked me to help subdue a kid he had thoroughly beaten down already. To make a long story short a year later they gave me 500 bucks and said don't go to the media anymore. I sure would like to talk to that LEO 30 years later. What annoyed me most is how scared my family was when I was going to the newspaper and having a hay day with these liars hiding behind a badge. I just gotten out of the army for good and what he did really make me mad so I wrote extensively about it online and was amazed at how much people defended the police in spite of their own testimony... It amazes me the logic premise premise conclusion is gone truth is gone what the hell happened. I wish you were my neighbor and I could keep an eye on you and I wish I could slim down your vocabulary a bit so you can reach a wider audience with what I think is the most important part of your show the reason you're doing it. I can scare cops but I spent a lot of years in prison ministry and had some successes with alternative sentencing we're still really good when I walked away from court with a few folk grateful to be released to a non government funded non 12/13 step government sanctioned non religious spiritual therapy that's not really therapy but a voluntary life long management of an absentee god of an imaginary disease... As I was watching the video I couldn't help thinking about that. That cop really believes in what he's doing and it's just really chaps behind the people actually think that alcoholics anonymous is a meaningful therapy for the so-called disease of alcoholism. Is a violation of the 12 traditions could use the 12 steps the way that the lazy phds are going for alcoholics and drug addicts in this country makes you wonder why they ever got a PhD in alcohol and drug rehabilitation your father going to do is just say oh well AA works even though it doesn't have any kind of success rate worth mentioning and 10% is false. LOL sorry for the rabbits trail but there is such a similarity between the entitlement and authority that comes with the believing basically a fallacy about oneself or the organization they're in. Oh well I'm talking too much as usual... You make me think too much please keep up the good work and see if you can replace Trevor Noah.
@@starfed64 First let me thank you for sharing your experience with me! I am so sorry that you went through such police abuse and witnessed that young person being beaten as well. I think it is wonderful that you were part of prison ministry and I agree with you that the statistics tell us that people who use NA as their sole source of drug therapy relapse at a rate of 90% within the first year. If a doctor handed patients a drug that had a 90% failure rate he would be charged for malpractice. And for your last thought I wish I did have comedic thinking and timing like Trevor Noah because it seems people like reporting better when you can tell jokes! Unfortunately that's not a talent I have. But I like the way you think! I hope you have a wonderful holiday! And thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Hope I will get to see you in the live chat next time! -taya :)
In almost every cop movie or show internal affairs are frequently called "the rat squad" implying that they are an effective means to hold corrupt officers to account in effect to police the police but in reality this couldn't be farther from the truth. All too often we see internal affairs doing everything they can to cover up crimes or misconduct to protect their department because above all the image of the department is more important, until they are replaced by a completely independent service outside the politics of the justice system will we see any meaningful changes.
Formerly incarcerated female here. I pled guilty to a crime I did not commit because I couldn't afford a proper defense. I am finishing up the last semester of my bachelor's at Penn State, preparing for my last LSAT before applying for early admission at a t20 law school (which I should get into) and plan to become a public defender when I am done. If there is anything I can do to help yall out, if you'd like proof of anything I've said, I'd love to be a part of this. You guys gave me the strength to return to my education and not only finish, but finish at the top of my class. I'd love to give back anyway possible.
@SimC Thank you (: I'm going to change the world. I am going to burn this racist system to the ground and piss on its ashes. You don't bake a cake with salt instead of sugar and put a ton of frosting on top of it to even it out. You throw it in the trash and start over. That is what I am going to do with my life. An inherently racist system cannot be fixed with bells and whistles.
Good going Miriam! I am sending a big thank you for sharing your experience: when pushed down, get up and become the change we want to see in the world (Ghandi) so as to effect change from the inside out. Good luck on the LSAT's.
I’m a former EMT, I hated to deal with Cops. I refused to do anything they may ask that would compromise the health of the people I was working on. They were not my boss and I made that clear. I never saw anything like planting guns but I was only an EMT for a year before I got a much better paying job.
Okay PAR family this is a rundown of the crimes I caught in the movie Copland! I give time codes but if you don’t want to spoiler the ending you might not want to read all the way through. I hope you will enjoy watching this movie as much as I did and if you catch any crimes I missed feel free to let me know! And I appreciate your suggestions for other police movies for me to review I can’t wait to watch them all! Sheriff Freddie Heflin (Sylvester Stallone’s character)runs out of quarters in the bar playing pinball and breaks into a parking meter. Misconduct in office, theft, vandalism, destruction of public property, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer, Sheriff Freddie Heflin (Sylvester Stallone’s character)leaves the bar drunk drives into a tree.DUI and leaves the scene of an accident. Deputy Sheriff Lies on Freddie’s behalf saying on the record “He was just chasing a speeder” Superboy (Michael Rapport) under the influence driving. Speeding after the hit and run. 08:35 Homicide 2 counts: Superboy shoots out of a car window after having been threatened with a car club.(Steering wheel lock was in the car, not a gun) He fires his gun at the car with 2 people fleeing after a car accident hit and run. Conspiracy. 27:02 Racial Profiling by local Sheriff's Deputies 28:35 Copaganda fed to the press by the Police Union who know that Superboy was guilty and still alive yet they are playing on the sympathies of the public and asserting they are the persecuted by the criminal justice system. Misconduct in office. 30:30 Explanation of Why Freddy cannot be a cop 31:25 They discuss (Officer Figgis aka Figgsy) Figgsy’s crimes, missing evidence, graft, drug use, and he says “is anyone getting by without gravy?!” And no comment….What if he has said to everyone “Hey aren’t you all stealing don’t we all need to steal? Wouldn’t that impact the scene and the way you perceive it differently, wouldn’t the gravity of their casual crimes be more profound” Figgis is guilty of intoxication on the job, driving under the influence, theft, mishandling of evidence, and bribery. 32:20 First Degree Assault Figgsy hits Jackie in the face and then puts a dart up his nose? 33:17 “You found us a sweet little town you got it for us low interest and I am grateful but don’t forget who it was that you came to two years ago to cover your ass” Here he is alluding to a criminal conspiracy to murder a witness and perhaps even deeper graft involving banks.Mob influence and bribery. Racketeering and conspiracy. 33:40 “In for a penny for a penny in for a pound” referring to the depths they are willing to go to cover up for each other, not just a blue wall silence but proactive criminal behavior. 34:00 Domestic Violence disturbance goes unreported 36:00 The only truly heroic act of the movie was committed by someone who was a civilian, without police training or the protection of a police badge. 37:00 ARSON and Manslaughter by G Figgis 40:25 Exposition on the Death of Officer Tunney showing a hint of the officer’s role in his death in jail, he was killed to keep him quiet. Also, the heroism of SuperBoy is extolled again showing the Propaganda that the media falls prey to. 41:00 Now this isn’t a crime but it shows the system of incentives for people who play ball and keep quiet about police misconduct. Ray introduces Freddie to the head the Patrolman’s Defense Association 45:51 We buried a suit today that doesn’t bother you? “He jumped off the GWB…” We both know that Ray got him off that bridge alive…You pinned to be a cop… You may be law enforcement and so am I but you are not a cop. I may watch the cops… 46:55 You watch cops too. Because we are law enforcement. WE must gather evidence because it helps us see the truth… If there is a stink we must investigate… We know that Ray got him off the bridge alive… What does Ray do now that is the $64,000 question… And I see you sheriff, a man waiting for something to do…And I got something to do… Sheriff Freddie withholds evidence from the IA dept. 48:05 Conspiracy to commit murder“How many people are at this party. Here I am scrambling to clean up this thing for you…sooner or later Ray they have to find a body in that river or it will NOT hold!” 54:50 3 cops actively conspiring to commit murder and then assaulting, attempted murder, accessory to murder, accomplice, Superboy Murray Babitch …Joey Randone comes across the murder attempt leading to Ray allowing him to die. 56:54 Moe Tilden says “we were shut down by the Mayor” 59:19 Figgis says “The mob built this town for Ray so they could own a F######## Precinct” What you are feeling now Freddie…friendless, angry misunderstood…that’s the life” RACKETEERING 1:00:30 Figgis reenacts the entire scene with a beer can and (LIFE LESSONS FROM COPLAND) 1:01:56 Just want to point out that other than the family racially profiled at the beginning African Americans have been portrayed as dangerous and needing to be controlled by cops despite the crimes they commit to do so. Method Man being portrayed as a “super predator” “Don’t you want to go home?” he says to officer Randone, “Eat your baby froot loops and sh**” 1:02;30 Ray Donlan commits A crime of omission, reckless endangerment, manslaughter, he creates an obstacle preventing his life from being saved. An officer has a different level of responsibility to save a life while on duty than a citizen does and his purposeful obstruction is to ensure that Joey Randone is unable to share what he knows about Superboy being alive and their attempted murder of him. Ray Donlan shows that he is a cold-blooded killer, and if he is willing to allow officers to die to protect his interests, what is he willing to do civilians? 1:05:29 “Why get Superboy off the bridge and get him back here to kill him?”“Ray had a plan and it got very f### up” LIFE LESSON 1:05:29 “He’s got friends…If Ray wants someone dead they are dead anywhere” !;07:49 Freddie confronts Ray in the bar- Superboy is convinced you are going to kill him..” Ray-He is a mixed up kid and so are you” There has got to be a way out of this for everyone”(Ray is Gaslighting Freddy, not a crime but problematic!) 1:08:20 Ray gives ultimate Copaganda speech portraying themselves as persecuted heroes “cop is the perp and perp is the victim” 1:10:45 Freddy “his uncle tried to kill him, he's running like a scared rabbit.” Detective Carlson says He should be scared his uncle got this case closed with one phone call” 1:13:40 “The mob runs millions in drugs through their precinct and everyone gets a nice house” 1:20:05 “Ray gave you this job Freddy he made your sorry ass…” Terroristic threats, battery, cocks gun at him…”you are gonna be hurtin’ Freddy mark my words…” 1:23:09 Confession to ARSON and manslaughter that goes unreported “Look all you want Freddy you are not going to find anything”…”That lady cop from the bomb squad got you what you needed…” 1:24:20 “BEING RIGHT IS NOT A BULLETPROOF VEST” LIFE LESSONS!!! 1:28:20 Kidnapping, attempted murder, assault, aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, reckless driving, speeding, reckless endangerment, 1:30:18 4 counts of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, misconduct in office, conspiracy to commit misconduct, conspiracy to commit murder. And Maim and malice to Freddie's ear being deafened!and Mayhem! Misconduct in the office! Destruction of property WOW! This is a lot and I still feel like I missed something! -taya :)
The problem with policing today is they have switched from protecting the public to protecting themselves, it's all about offices safety now and nothing more.
Correct. And since that is indeed the case, many of these people should not be police officers. If you're not willing to put your life on the line, find another occupation. Or better yet, let's fix the system so people like this are not hired. These people could learn a lot from firefighters.
When my neighbot was applying toxic chemicals on my property the police chief denied me a trespass against him based on his claim that he "did not want to make my assailant mad"! Poison me for life but don't make this council member mad?
The Wire is one of most relevant shows of our time. For those that don’t know the shell it was created by a Baltimore, homicide detective, and a Sun reporter. This show focused on so many systemic issues, including politics, corruption, the plight of the disenfranchised, and so much more. Bad example.
If I remember right the example was about how movies put the viewer into the position of the eyes of the police instead of say, the street living Omar. IMHO the wire does a good job of mixing these positions. Even though the protagonist is technically Jimmy McNulty, it does a good job of showing some of the other positions in the show. But to be clear: The Wire is a cop show.
@@ThisIsF-dUp I still don’t think it is a good example of copaganda as it shows far too many perspectives in a realistic fashion. We see things from the politicians’ perspective, the media perspective, the criminal perspective, the lawyer’s/prosecution perspective, the community perspective etc. Each season focused on a different perspective. There are much better examples of copaganda on every single night on TV.
From over here in very civilized Europe I once wrote a big thing on the difference between US and European cops. And while the heroic image prevails... And makes it extremely difficult to find any sort of real information or statistics... What I did manage to document quite accurately is that US police get almost zero relevant training. The whole thing is more cowboy amateurish than anyone, even in the US, can fully appreciate. While over here police has to have a university degree before they can even consider going into law enforcement. In fact US police get far less training than shopping center security guards over here.
@@Frank_inSA Well over here you need a university degree... Which ia hard to even get into. So you need to be pretty decent already to get into the course. Then you need to be fit enough to play on the local ball team. And then, if you finish that degree. And you are selected through a comprehensive screening process, THEN you get to go to police academy for police training. Then there is 1 year of paid training on the job, and then you are a cop. While in the US, they get between 3-5 months of basic WW2 boot camp-style training. In facilities where they are PROUD that they are running the same courses that their grandparents did. US police training is virtually unchanged since the mid 60s. 70% of their training is about shooting that gun, the rest is about standing tall, taking orders, doing what youre told while some Israeli combat instructor is screaming into their face how they are not "man enough", and should just go quit right now because they will never make it. If you can handle a couple of weeks of that, youre a cop. No education required. And if you have been to the army and already know how to shoot, you are waved right through. Then they give you a 5 page pamphlet on basic human rights and "law" But from then on, you are on the "force" and you start learning actual police work from other officers that also got extremely little training. There is ZERO psychology, 8 hours of crisis management... In a class room. Not in a realistic setting. Violent, or difficult persons are selected FOR police work rather than weeded out in the process. Its just incredible. But US police are more like... A blunt object used to remove undesirable objects from society. Its not about protecting, serving, upholding the law, or any of that investigative stuff. Now... If a murder is 4 weeks old, case closed. If they find a dead body behind a dumpster, well... They dont really care. Nothing is really done. In small-town USA, they basically just drive around collecting "taxes" in the form of writing silly tickets all day. If they cant write a ticket, they will drive behind you until they can.
@@captain_context9991 ja, ja, you still didn't tell me where in Europe 😂 Last time I looked Germany still was part of Europe. Switzerland and Austria university isn't mandatory too. In the UK you can apply if you've A grade, still no university. France (I dunno what is needed)?
id watch a show or movie about hero cops who fight to stop bad police. internal affairs, the only cops worthy of respect, unfortunately I'm willing to be most internal affairs police are like harvey rather then deniro
The Shield has archetypes like that throughout its course. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. I don't want to use spoilers, but one of the more realistic parts of the show is the way they are received by the other officers.
Really you think this is one of the best episodes ever? Perfect example of what’s wrong with this country, people would rather be entertained than educated, stay asleep with the rest of the sheeple
@@monicanunez4568 well after I sent it I felt kind of guilty because it kind of sounded like I was being an A hole, not only that but I had to ask myself if I was being hypocritical as well because it’s not like I don’t watch anything for entertainment purposes myself, so I apologize if I offended you in any way, this show is one of my favorite shows to watch because I’ve been a P.O.W. With that said I’m glad it got you thinking and I hope your thoughts lead to actions that better you and the world we live in because God knows we need it ….😁
I am so glad you liked it! It really was a nice break to do a piece that wasn't about real brutality or abuse. It was great to just talk about policing and be able to still be a little lighthearted. -taya

You're first episode was compliant with fair use rules but RUclips uses Copyright to eliminate any content outside the status quo establishment approved content.
He is a lucky man. I would bounce around the desert standing outside ancient Egyptian burial sites all day hoping to interview the mummies within, just have a woman like that.
I'm willing to talk publicly about the criminal cop, Sacramento PD, California, Officer Marquez or Martinez, who illegally detained me. He's Latino and around 5 feet tall and obese. And he was a bike cop at the time. Here's a video I made about it ruclips.net/video/lc4RVGfR6oY/видео.html And regarding this movie Cop Land, I liked it so much I had it on my laptop for a while. Another good cop corruption movie is L.A. Confidential.
This might be a petty to most, but we need to stop acknowledging and addressing police managers and assistant managers as military ranks. Sergeant, Lieutenant, Corporal, Commander, etc aren’t appropriate and only contribute to the problem of cops mentality of going to war everyday. These military ranks should be reserved for soldiers. It’s stolen valor imo when cops use them. Words matter. Let’s not contribute to their wanna be GI Joe complex. Hell, my nursing job is more dangerous than what they do.
How about "Serpico", based on a real story with al pacino i think! Gonna watch this copland, but serpico pretty much wraps up the police state. Love & Blessings
An Idea: Let's add a fourth branch to our government called: THE PEOPLES BRANCH, and let's have this fourth branch allow people a full vote on all pending legislation. That way the politicians will have to pay attention to what we really want.
@@johnshafer7214 That's right, it would take a major shift. Here is the solution: Any number of states in our union have a "VOTER INITIATIVE" process which allows voters to put a law on the books themselves! We use this process in all 26 states that have it; at the state level. When it works we move for a Constitutional Amendment. We can do it if we show efficacy.
Unfortunately I was targeted to be eliminated from my private property by my neighbor who was well connected with local government. This neighbor had a legal need to acquire my property. In order to eliminate me from my private property the weapon of choice was glyphosate. He took the liberty of applying the chemical's on my property with no regard of the law or my health, which was seriously effected immediately. My government assisted him in every criminal act he committed against Mr. They committed criminal acts on his behalf. For over 5 years I suffered severely from the chemical exposure. I had so much chemical absorbed in my body it was excreting through the mucous glands in my lips. I was denied a trespass against this terrorist. I was force to hire an attorney. The attorney took a bribe from the opposing party and even though my complaint was never filed against the proper party and my witnesses were never questioned by my attorney the judge cited my right to use my property as I wished. These terrorist did not comply to that judge. In fact they only became more aggressive. It was clear that if I did not flee they were going to kill me. When I fled I was suffering the severe skin condition, I was blind and homeless the following 4 years. This property not only provided my home and enjoyment of my life but I operated my business from my property. It took years to find a physician qualified to treat the severe skin condition and it was a slow process to recover to the condition I am on today. My condition is chronic. My Dr. says I am a pioneer in the effects these chemicals can have on a human being. There has been no legitimate investigation into my allegations. No authority has ever reviewed my hard copy evidence. The FBI eventually did come to my home 14 months after I contacted them. His intent was specifically to review my evidence. He arrived announcing as he walked in my door that he had no intention of reviewing my evidence. He demanded that I tell him my story (hearsay). I did manage to shove a photo of my skin condition in front of his face. It was then that he disputed my allegations of domestic terrorism were actually that I have been tortured. Had he have reviewed my evidence he would have recogized that not only was I being attack with chemical weapons but also by the City and County officials defaming my chararater, abusing their power and filing criminal charges against me based fabricated laws and ordinances. This was domestic terrorism against a civilian who has committed no crime of any kind in her life. He gave me 2 1/2 hours to tell him a story that had spammed over 10 years by that time. All acts were in violation of my State and Federal Constitutional rights. This same evidence took the better part of 3 days for a student lawyer to review and understand. 2 hours after this agent left my home, with none of my evidence, I received a letter from the FBI Headquarters Washington DC. The letter was signed by an Assistant deputy director. The letter stated that the agent determined no violation of Federal law has occurred. It does not take a certificate from the academy to recognize that it is not possible for a letter sent from Washington DC to Iowa takes more than two hours. It dies not take an attorney to understand that his description of me beings tortured is in fact a violation of Federal Law. There is no justifiable reason for this to have ever occurred to any US citizen. Chapter 9 Effects of Chemical having Direct contact with my skin Chapter 15 Intentional Glyphosate Poisoning This does not include that unlawful taking of my home, business and private property or the damages that I continue to suffer from the effects of the chemical exposure such as the scoliosis that I have recently been diagnosed with as my rights continue to be violated as if I am less than human.
@@batgirlp5561 I am too. I moved back to my hometown after my son developed a rare medical condition. His father suffered from several additions. I simply could nit trust him to care for our son properly. I moved home in 1990, had a job within 3 days but at the time his condition was considered existing. I could not get insurance on him. I was laid off from my job so I could get him on state insurance. With no problems at all I knew he required monthly medical treatment. He father never intended to have a tax paying job after I left, no chance for support there. In 1991 I spike to a committee on Capital Hill to change laws to allow single parents to be allowed to have business tools for self employment. Eventually they did change the law so that I could have the asset of an industrial sewing machine. I worked two years for basically nothing but the monthly payments on that machine, investing any income I made into purchasing more upholstery tools. I bought this property, completely renovated the existing structures. Because State law does not allow a non conforming pro0erty to have new structures with a footprint larger than the existing structures. The exception in Montrose, Iowa is that if your name is Mark Conlee non conforming property laws do not apply. In fact he never signed the building permit as required by State law and never had to pay a fee for his fraudulent building permits. Within 5 yeats of me ourxhasing my property I had renovated all the structures and had the loan for the property paid in full.i was happy and content with my life for the following 10 years. Then my neighbor mived to the adjoining property he purchased from the mayor. Any future enjoyment of my life is not possible. Poisoning has caused me chronic health issues. I fled from my property in an attempt to save my life. I will never recover physically or financially. I was tortured. .

*Wha* This is Best Sylvester Stallone film he ever made, which gave Me and many others a real view of the cops since the late 90's** So glad that you are hip to it** But who acted out their part the best? R.D. of course**
wow, i actually saw 'copland' in theaters when it came out and i remember liking it but that's about it, it didn't really make much of an impression on me. guess i'll have to watch it again. 😺 i disagree with your criticism that 'the wire' is told solely from the perspective of the cops or glorifies the police. part of the greatness of 'the wire' is the fact that it actually shows you the perspective of the drug dealers and addicts (and the longshoremen, the public school teachers, the media, etc. in subsequent seasons) in a way that doesn't entirely villainize them as the "bad guys" nor does it always portray the cops as the "good guys". perhaps you haven't watched the entire series? it can be slow and hard to get into at first, but it starts picking up around the 3rd or 4th episode and i think it is definitely worth the payoff to stick with it to the end. or at least watch season 3. it isn't episodic and i don't think it is fair to judge it based on casually watching a few episodes here and there in no particular order - honestly that would probably confuse and bore the viewer to death. in a way it's like a great american novel in television form, and missing episodes would be like skipping chapters in the novel. i highly recommend giving 'the wire' a second chance, i know it's nauseatingly acclaimed but the praise is actually well-deserved. RIP michael k. williams ❤
I just watched "Copland". Its leaving Netflix soon. I'm not really a Stallone fan, but I must admit, this is one of his best roles he's played. Surprisingly good movie!
Thank you for mentioning his case. I will work on his case with some of the cop watchers in his community. I hope to have an episode focusing on him this January. -taya
I always thought it was so underrated. I'm really into movies so I check reviews all the time, and until recently Copland was pretty poorly received, so I think people are waking up. The Shield is excellent too, although it's not particularly realistic consistently, it is VERY good.
I think the "Keystone Cops" had the general right idea when it comes to defining the proper attitude the public should adopt in conceptualizing the role that the police play in society in general in that the "takeaway" or "lessons learned" one gets from exposure to these classic Max Sennet "shorts" is that cops should be regarded as simultaneously ludicrously "over-the-top" COMICAL yet sureptitiously "snake-in-the-grass" DANGEROUS !👮♂️🤡 = 👨👦👦 😭
This was one of your best. By referencing a movie and highlighting the similarities to reality, It makes it easier to appreciate what is happening in our country. With Acquired Immunity, Blue Line of Brotherhood and nation’s Law and Order that do not applying to them, they will soon be Very powerful. So powerful that even Lawyers, Judges, District Attorneys and anyone in government will be scared to oppose them. They already have changed the flag of our nation. This country will soon be like North Korai, Syria and Iran. A bunch of gangsters’ rules over everyone.
I watched this movie years ago, although I don't remember much about it. I can't imagine, "Mr. Establishment," Stallone making a movie today that shines a bad light on cops. When it comes to cops living outside the cities in which they are employed, here in Columbus, Ohio, 60% of the cops live in the suburbs. They can't empathize with the people they have so much control over and, in addition, Columbus taxpayer money is flowing into the suburban businesses and tax coffers.
Lmao, dang Taya...you be giving Steven 2 tons of crap...rofl...look at the smile on his face...he's so beyond thrilled to be sitting next to you...just the wife and my theory he's secretly in love with you!!! Totally made our day, thanks y'all and so glad you're finally seeing some payoff for all your hard work...we've been team PAR before you even had a 100 subs! Have a great Christmas season and be safe in this modified weather !
🌈I remember how much this movie affected me when I first watched it in the theatre. I was still very young. For me, it turns out, there was the time before watching Copland, and the time after watching it. My perception of society had shifted by such a degree from watching it that I was actually scared that I had misjudged the whole idea of society. Of course I was wrong, and my faith in society was restored every time I met somebody just like Taya or Stephen. Copland is a must see! Please also look into the movie: Mindwalk. TY 🕊
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me! And I am so glad that your faith in society has slowly been restored. I hope that you continue to have positive experiences because I am happy to say I have met more people that care about others, and care about justice and fairness than those who do not. Please keep the faith in yourself and others! We appreciate you! -taya
@@therealnews I've been meaning to reply but the new year brings new distractions. Big fan of you both. I volunteered as a legislative aid for state Representative Margaret Carter, as a senior in high school. I thought that the problems with society are so obvious that they will be easy to address legislatively and help. But I learned quickly that quid pro quo is an unfortunate reality in Congress. I decided it's a slippery slope to be a politician. I soon left, but those months during the '89 session in Oregon helped me to understand that, "Everyone has their reasons." Then Copland came out and I realized it may be worse than I thought. But of course, as you say, I have met many many more people who want truth and justice than not. We just don't get our voices heard much over the shouting. That's why your work is so valuable in our society right now. You speak for us. (Rest In Peace Manuel Teran Tortuguita)

My favorite "Cop Movie," has got to be Soylent Green Wikipedia calls it, "a 1973 American ecological dystopian thriller film directed by Richard Fleischer, and starring Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Edward G. Robinson in his final film role. It is loosely based on the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison..." IMDb says of Soylent Green... A nightmarish futuristic fantasy about the controlling power of big corporations and an innocent cop who stumbles on the truth.
When this film came out it did not get enough attention for me to watch it in the theaters but a year later I decided to rent it and took home a VHS copy and was actually surprised at how good it was. Before this I had not heard any impressive reviews and perhaps because if it's mostly male yet IMPRESSIVE star quality cast there was little interest in this as anything notable and it was already being forgotten. Even today, there are few people who even know or remember this film. I'm glad that you share the same feelings about this movie that I do and was the first time I'd seen Hollywood showing cops portrayed as they really are and pretty much doing exactly what I always suspected. Let's face it. It doesn't take long for us to realize that life and reality isn't sunshine and lolipops and of course this is going to be a corrupt operation and what part of society is going to take advantage of criminality THE MOST and be able to get away with it. I'm glad you end the review where you did because it has an excellent ending too. One thing I found interesting is that there are some VERY talented actors in this film and yet in the opening credits we see that Stallone is star and headliner but even as the film moves along his character is not very interesting at all. In fact, he's kinda a dumb-dumb. However I think this is Stallone's BEST film after ROCKY and one of the only times I've ever seen him actually play somebody. Someone who's JUST dumb enough to have this job. Also, due to a childhood accident which becomes important in this story can only hear out of one ear. If you are someone who enjoys acting as a 'craft' you might appreciate the scene work and it's directing by James Mangold. I also remembered the 'JAG' scene and found all the Layota/Stallone stuff the most enjoyable to watch. COPOGANDA ... lol. Yep. Cheers.
I really appreciated your analysis! I am so glad you feel this movie was under appreciated as well! And i do hope that by not spoiling the ending we have encouraged others to go watch this movie as well the ensemble is just so exceptional! And I completely agree that this is some of Stallone's best work-- second to Rocky of course! I will definitely take your advice and check out the work of James Mangold, the name sounds very familiar to me I think I have seen some of his movies but I will look him up shortly. Thank you so much for your comment it is always great to see you here or in the live chat! And of course Happy New Year to you! -taya :)
Here's one lighter for the holidays I had my godson shot to death six bullets and there's his body and come to find out the cops were in the wrong yes his family's been paid what about the pain that the rest of us feel we don't get retribution we have to live with it
I am so sorry for your loss! My sincere condolences. Every Christmas I see what Tawanda Jones family goes though after they lost her brother to police brutality in 2013, she has protested every Wednesday in my city since his death. And I am in communication with a mother who lost her son 6 months ago to police brutality, and I can see the pain it is causing her. The hole that is created by a violent loss of life can never truly be repaired or redressed. I can only pray that your family survives and thrives in spite of their loss. I am truly sorry.
Keep exposing the truth.
@@Christopher_Bachm Thank you! We will do our best! -taya

Sheriff Freddie Heflin (Sylvester Stallone’s character)runs out of quarters in the bar playing pinball and breaks into a parking meter. Misconduct in office, theft, vandalism, destruction of public property, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer,
Sheriff Freddie Heflin (Sylvester Stallone’s character)leaves the bar drunk drives into a tree.DUI and leaves the scene of an accident.
Deputy Sheriff Lies on Freddie’s behalf saying on the record “He was just chasing a speeder”
Superboy (Michael Rapport) under the influence driving. Speeding after the hit and run.
08:35 Homicide 2 counts: Superboy shoots out of a car window after having been threatened with a car club.(Steering wheel lock was in the car, not a gun) He fires his gun at the car with 2 people fleeing after a car accident hit and run. The 2 men were shot 6 times according to EMT

Police Union officer on the scene in a conspiracy to cover up the crime. Misconduct in office and conspiracy.
11:29 A gun is planted. Murray “Superboy” Babitch, Uncle Ray, Police Union Officer and Ray’s Crony Jackie Rucker commit a criminal conspiracy to plant evidence, cover up a crime and obstruct justice.
12:10 Superboy “He says they will take my f-ing shield away from me!” Not a crime but an admission of guilt and lack of remorse for the deaths he caused instead he worries only for the potential loss of his job and authority.

17:40 Fredddie Heflin commits misconduct in office by not giving them a ticket for speeding
17:48 “If you see the PDA sticker say to yourself this one of the good guys” (just a moment showing preferential treatment to officers and the waiving of laws for them, they are not given a speeding ticket because of their status in the Police Union.
18:27 Freddy sees “Superboy” Babitch in the back of the car contradicting the official police statement that the Superboy jumped to his death
2120 Ray calls IA Noe Tilden”F-ing rat” letting us know that police accountability is not respected and valued by fellow officers. (Not a crime but a signifier of the negative aspects of police culture where the blue wall of silence comes from and why even “good” officers will not report crimes made by “bad apple” officers.
23:23 “We got some loose end” cops conspiring like gangsters to commit murder to prevent their crimes from being revealed. Conspiracy.
27:02 Racial Profiling by local Sheriff's Deputies
28:35 Copaganda fed to the press by the Police Union who know that Superboy was guilty and still alive yet they are playing on the sympathies of the public and asserting they are the persecuted by the criminal justice system. Misconduct in office.
30:30 Explanation of Why Freddy cannot be a cop
31:25 They discuss (Officer Figgis aka Figgsy) Figgsy’s crimes, missing evidence, graft, drug use, and he says “is anyone getting by without gravy?!” And no comment….What if he has said to everyone “Hey aren’t you all stealing don’t we all need to steal?
34:00 Domestic Violence disturbance goes unreported
36:00 The only truly heroic act of the movie was committed by someone who was a civilian, without police training or the protection of a police badge.
37:00 ARSON and Manslaughter by G Figgis
40:25 Exposition on the Death of Officer Tunney showing a hint of the officer’s role in his death in jail, he was killed to keep him quiet. Also, the heroism of SuperBoy is extolled again showing the Propaganda that the media falls prey to.
41:00 Now this isn’t a crime but it shows the system of incentives for people who play ball and keep quiet about police misconduct. Ray introduces Freddie to the head the Patrolman’s Defense Association
45:51 We buried a suit today that doesn’t bother you? “He jumped off the GWB…” We both know that Ray got him off that bridge alive…You pinned to be a cop… You may be law enforcement and so am I but you are not a cop. I may watch the cops…
46:55 You watch cops too.
Here I am scrambling to clean up this thing for you…sooner or later Ray they have to find a body in that river or it will NOT hold!”
54:50 3 cops actively conspiring to commit murder and then assaulting, attempted murder, accessory to murder, accomplice, Superboy Murray Babitch …Joey Randone comes across the murder attempt leading to Ray allowing him to die.
56:54 Moe Tilden says “we were shut down by the Mayor”
59:19 Figgis says “The mob built this town for Ray so they could own a F######## Precinct”
What you are feeling now Freddie…friendless, angry misunderstood…that’s the life” RACKETEERING
1:00:30 Figgis reenacts the entire scene with a beer can and (LIFE LESSONS FROM COPLAND)
1:01:56 Just want to point out that other than the family racially profiled at the beginning African Americans have been portrayed as dangerous and needing to be controlled by cops despite the crimes they commit to do so. Method Man being portrayed as a “super predator” “Don’t you want to go home?” he says to officer Randone, “Eat your baby froot loops and sh**”
1:02;30 Ray Donlan commits A crime of omission, reckless endangerment, manslaughter, he creates an obstacle preventing his life from being saved.
1:05:29 “Why get Superboy off the bridge and get him back here to kill him?”“Ray had a plan and it got very f### up” LIFE LESSON 1:05:29
“He’s got friends…If Ray wants someone dead they are dead anywhere”
!;07:49 Freddie confronts Ray in the bar- Superboy is convinced you are going to kill him..” Ray-He is a mixed up kid and so are you”
There has got to be a way out of this for everyone”(Ray is Gaslighting Freddy, not a crime but problematic!)
1:08:20 Ray gives ultimate Copaganda speech portraying themselves as persecuted heroes “cop is the perp and perp is the victim”
1:10:45 Freddy “his uncle tried to kill him, he's running like a scared rabbit.” Detective Carlson says He should be scared his uncle got this case closed with one phone call”
1:13:40 “The mob runs millions in drugs through their precinct and everyone gets a nice house”
1:20:05 “Ray gave you this job Freddy he made your sorry ass…” Terroristic threats, battery, cocks gun at him…”you are gonna be hurtin’ Freddy mark my words…”
1:23:09 Confession to ARSON and manslaughter that goes unreported

Destruction of property
WOW! This is a lot and I still feel like I missed something! -taya :)
The problem with policing today is they have switched from protecting the public to protecting themselves, it's all about offices safety now and nothing more.
They've never protected the public. They protect the plutocracy - the people who own them and tell them what to do - as they did at Standing Rock.
Well said! -taya
It's all about generating revenue.
Thanks for all The Hardwork you're done this year.

👍x 1000
Where in Europe? In Germany for example you need only medium maturity. That's far away from university...
@@Frank_inSA
Well over here you need a university degree...
Then they give you a 5 page pamphlet on basic human rights and "law"
But from then on, you are on the "force" and you start learning actual police work from other officers that also got extremely little training.
@@captain_context9991 ja, ja, you still didn't tell me where in Europe 😂

TY for the suggestion. Am looking for those. Have you seen the movie: Mindwalk? Slow paced, heavy on the philosophy of life, but very good. 🕯
Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely check it out! -taya :)

You two are doing a great job for twenty. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays ! 🙂
Merry Christmas to y'all.
I watched Serpico as a ten year old. It opened my eyes to what cops are really like. Copland is my favourite Stallone movie.
aw man that "come inside, just this once" bit was so precious. allow me to ruin than be suggesting its an innuendo.
muahahahahahah
but really, i love y'all, wish you hppy holisdays/new year and infinitely appreciate you service.
Hello Taya, I unfortunately missed the live stream. I saw the first part when you first uploaded but it's a pleasure to watch the complete episodes. You're first episode was compliant with fair use rules but RUclips uses Copyright to eliminate any content outside the status quo establishment approved content.
I found it on hbo max. About to watch it now. I've seen it, but it was way back, when it first came out. I barely remember it lol
This was a GREAT CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF blue/blew isis

great review for a great show ! love the western final of Copland too !
Great show!
I love this video is so wholesome. I love it deeply
Here's a video I made about it ruclips.net/video/lc4RVGfR6oY/видео.html
And regarding this movie Cop Land, I liked it so much I had it on my laptop for a while.
Street kings staring Keane Reaves and Chris Evans
An Idea:
Let's add a fourth branch to our government called: THE PEOPLES BRANCH, and let's have this fourth branch allow people a full vote on all pending legislation. That way the politicians will have to pay attention to what we really want.
Worth looking into this. It will take a constitutional amendment to get this.
The whole government should be working people's councils.
‘I can’t hear you Ray’
Oh yes!!!! That is such a great moment! I was rooting for Stallone so much! -taya
Its hard to find, not on Netflix :(
Nice that you picked up on the media, reporting what they are told and not doing their own investigating.
Chapter 9 Effects of Chemical having Direct contact with my skin
Chapter 15 Intentional Glyphosate Poisoning
This does not include that unlawful taking of my home, business and private property or the damages that I continue to suffer from the effects of the chemical exposure such as the scoliosis that I have recently been diagnosed with as my rights continue to be violated as if I am less than human.
I am so sorry this happened. I'm speechless.
I was tortured. .
@@batgirlp5561 thanks for taking the time to read about the brutality I suffered.
@@songboat That is more horrible than any fictional movie. If I were a lawyer I would take your case pro Bono immediately. God bless. I am praying for you daily.
@@batgirlp5561 i sure wish you were an attorney! I have all the evidence to prove my allegations and more. I can't even get a response from an attorney, or those involved in this case, such as the chemical field investigator! What the heck. They determine what the chemical was and haul ass. I emailed and called multiple times telling them it had never stopped. It continued on my property for over 5 years. No response to thus day. Well after it nearly killed me.

Watched several times since. It's a great ensemble movie.

OMG RIP Ray Liotta! 😢
Serpico. Best cop movie ever.
Harvey Keitel was great as a dirty cop in "Bad lieutenant"
Taya and Stephen are just too cute. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
wow, i actually saw 'copland' in theaters when it came out and i remember liking it but that's about it, it didn't really make much of an impression on me. guess i'll have to watch it again. 😺
i disagree with your criticism that 'the wire' is told solely from the perspective of the cops or glorifies the police. part of the greatness of 'the wire' is the fact that it actually shows you the perspective of the drug dealers and addicts (and the longshoremen, the public school teachers, the media, etc. in subsequent seasons) in a way that doesn't entirely villainize them as the "bad guys" nor does it always portray the cops as the "good guys". perhaps you haven't watched the entire series? it can be slow and hard to get into at first, but it starts picking up around the 3rd or 4th episode and i think it is definitely worth the payoff to stick with it to the end. or at least watch season 3. it isn't episodic and i don't think it is fair to judge it based on casually watching a few episodes here and there in no particular order - honestly that would probably confuse and bore the viewer to death. in a way it's like a great american novel in television form, and missing episodes would be like skipping chapters in the novel. i highly recommend giving 'the wire' a second chance, i know it's nauseatingly acclaimed but the praise is actually well-deserved. RIP michael k. williams ❤
I just watched "Copland". Its leaving Netflix soon. I'm not really a Stallone fan, but I must admit, this is one of his best roles he's played. Surprisingly good movie!

Great movie. I think figgis was the best character. Really complex.
Steven is Bruce Altman's doppelganger, the actor playing Counselor Burt Kandal in Cop Land.
Thanks for this. MSM fails us.
I am so glad that you appreciated this episode! -taya
Training day is a good documentary also
I watched this movie years ago, although I don't remember much about it.
It is actually illegal for cities to require police to live within city limits.

My favorite "Cop Movie," has got to be Soylent Green
Wikipedia calls it, "a 1973 American ecological dystopian thriller film directed by Richard Fleischer, and starring Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Edward G. Robinson in his final film role. It is loosely based on the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison..."
IMDb says of Soylent Green...
A nightmarish futuristic fantasy about the controlling power of big corporations and an innocent cop who stumbles on the truth.
See *THX 1138,* Lucas' 1st flic: *SciFi/dystopian* theme a-la Soylent . . . totalitarian hellscape.
FRD AND THE HORSE HE RODE IN ON!
Copland is excellent
-taya :)
