As favelas são relativamente seguras.
Não existe o perigo de ser roubado porque existe um código da comunidade e muitos podem ser punidos se roubarem dentro de favela que foi dominada pelo tráfico. O perigo é justamente a polícia entrar atirando e algum inocente ser ferido e a polícia dizer que foi bala perdida.

Thanks for showing the real side of my adopted homeland - 9 years this coming week. Rio as you say is always amazing in its views and atmosphere. I travel Brazil most weeks and also international and every time I come home to Ipanema, my breath just gets taken away with its beauty and the amazing Brazilian people!

You may not even notice my message, but this is probably the best views of Rio that I have ever seen. In one side of the mountains the favelas and on the other side Copacabana and Ipanema, wow!!! The landscape is like some places in the South Pacific. Amazing!!!!
I adored my time in Rio! I feel like I still have lots of things to explore there! Hope to be able to go back one day! Loved the places you are featuring!

Great video! I like that they turned the favelas into a touristy place! I grew up in Sao Paulo in the 80s and remember seeing the favelas in Rio and they looked Nothing like this!!! : )

Quando estive no Rio tentei 'fazer de tudo' e não sei como perdi aquela caminhada incrível.
Agora sabemos como Carol pode comer toda aquela comida deliciosa e ficar tão magra ... basta caminhar pelas montanhas.
Some rough neighborhoods I see, Like a few of our cities. That walk would of killed me, that was a serious climb. But great drone shots even with the wind. Carol, I love your model pose as the drone took off and you started posing, that was good!. That place is huge, but I can't tell you what place because I am already lost. I am more amazed at the people that walk those hills each day to and from work Unless you are lucky and have a bike or car, then you can live up in the hills and up and down quicker. I have a great deal of respect for the people of Brazil or Rio and I could not even come close to understanding this is where Carol grew up, meant in a good way but fascinated and every place you both have been and this is home. No wonder you like quiet beaches and mountains, I would want to be at these places as well. love from Lanette and me, peace!!
Even been friendly tourist favelas, you still gotta watch your step. Especially when you're recording.
Yeah if you are walking around without a camera you are going to be absolutely fine, the camera is the tricky part. Only with a guide you should film really.

Thank you for showing that Rio is still a cidade maravilhosa. We hear only about crime, corruption, and COVID. While that all sadly exists much too much, Rio is still an amazing and unique experience.
There are a lot of crime and corruption in Brasil, but not as much as the TV shows. 90% of Brasil is safe. You should only know where to go like anywhere in the world. I live in a city near Sao Paulo city and i feel pretty safe here. But for sure I stay away from places like the favelas or some dangerous neighborhoods in Sao Paulo, Rio or other big state capitals.
Crimes, corruption, drugs, guns, alcohol and etc...exist in any country all around the world! It does not matter if it is a rich, a medium or poor country!!!

Visit Niterói too, the city is on the other side of Guanabara Bay... The contemporary art museum and Itacoatiara beach are beautiful places.

Que passeio espetaciular!!! Recomendo visitaremo Parque penhasco Dois Irmãos quando retornarem ao Rio. O acesso é pelo Leblon, ele tem uns 4 ou 5 mirantes. São vistas bem legais.

Yeah in the comment section the majority of Brazilians think it’s awful and the majority of the foreigners watching think it’s awesome. To be honest though we have traveled around a bit and we see places in other countries that are not even considered slums there and are still worse than this place seemed
@@JumpingPlaces That's interesting about the locals vs foreigners. I too have seen places in my travels that are not considered slums that look worse than this favela.
@@JumpingPlaces man, we think it's horrible because there is an area dominated by criminal factions, there are many good people who live there for lack of options, and it's very sad because there is a place of confrontation between police and criminals, in addition to the living conditions of those who live there, it's bad, I hope that one day their situation will improve, in my state we don't have favelas, but we also have poorer neighborhoods.

Gosh you two did some walking ! the sound of Carols shoes as you went from top to bottom, I was a little concerned re those narrow ( where are we now ) ? alleyways , but great drone video of the awesome vista encompassing all those beaches , good days work and that Favela did not look too forbidding , guess you both slept well that night !

I enjoyed walking with you guys! You have to be fit to be able to climb the mountain. Going down is easier. Amazing view👍
lol this is actually one of the more easier trails in rio compared to other ones like the christ trail. I find going down to be harder sometimes
omg we WALKED up all the way you took motor taxi in Vidigal when I was in rio in 2018. Had no idea about the trail tho so just went down again when we reached the top. Need to go next time I'm in Rio. Man, I love Brazil!!! Thanks for this awesome video.
i walked up there too to go on the trail. I prefer to walk so i can see more of the favela and experience it better also feel like i can just guide myself an be more of an adventure rather than paying someone to drive me up there. Its a nice trail for sure

Courageous, man! I have been living in Rio for more than 38 years and never had courage in visiting any "favela". Favela tour is a part of government plans, but only for foreigner like you. Your wife seemed to be well familiar with favela spots. Nice tour guide!

I’ve been to Rio many times and is one of my favorite cities in the world only surpassed by Salvador, Bahia. My fiancée is from Salvador and we met there so I have a special love for it. On another note, what’s that beach that’s near Rocina? It’s past Leblon when you have to go around that mountain or hill to the right? That’s my favorite beach in Rio. Anyway, I consider Brazil my second home. ☀️🏝☺️

It is not Rocina. The name of the slum is Rocinha. There are lots of beaches in Rio. Each beach has its own district. I will tell you just the name of some of them, because there are many more beaches in Rio. See if you remember the One that is your favorite : Leme beach; Copacabana; praia do Diabo; Arpoador; Ipanema; Leblon; Vidigal; São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca; Recreio dos Bandeirantes; Pepino, Pontal; and etc...

Excellent video! The same thing happened to me heading up Vidigal as well. In fact two lookout kids stopped the car and told me to delete the footage. Kind of unnerving.
