if you are cutting your own fabric and batting, you can experiment with widths. i had good luck with 3” wide fabric and 1.5” wide batting. all the “official” rug videos are trying to sell you their products but this method of folding fabric around batting can be used a variety of ways. practice on some scraps and make potholders, coasters, trivets, fabric baskets, rugs or even tote bags using this same method.
Very nice and easy video. Much appreciated. Thank you so much! Instead of buying expensive 2.5 inch batting in a roll , I can use batting scraps. And it’s a good way to use fabric scraps
Beautiful rug I love the fabric and a great well-taught video. Thank you so much for sharing... I wanted to make a jelly roll rug but it takes so much fabric and it's so time-consuming I don't know I just embarrassed about it your video makes me feel more comfortable, so for that thank you and God bless. I almost hope to say it because it seems so simple and so much easier but couldn't the same exact rectangular rug and look as a jelly roll rectangle rugby achieved by tripling three layers of batting or four layers of batting cotton on the front cotton on the back as if you were making a quilt I'm a quilter and then quilting zigzag lines an inch apart to make it appear like a jelly roll rug cutting corners and making it so much quicker and easier? Just a thought I get the cinnamon and making the jelly roll rug but it seems like you'd use so much less fabric and batting and much quicker? Well let me know if you or anyone else has ever tried it that way?! I'm thinking about trying it myself.... If I do I'll try to post a picture too... Anyway just an idea, from an old lady who's still learning ....🤔 😉😊. Much love 💕and many prayers 🙏 Jen.
When I was watching her do hers, it looked like hers was going to curl on the right side. I've not done one but just was thinking when I saw it that you'd have to be careful to feed it in evenly. Not sure if that's what happens to it, just something I noticed while watching.
Best way to stop curling is to sew from opposite ends. Example, sew the first two rows together, then the end you stopped flip and start the next row there. It happens to many of us. You have to trim anyhow, so it does not matter if both of your ends are uneven. I hope this makes sense 😊?
Beautifully done
I watched several jelly roll rug tutorials. Yours was easy to follow and I’m looking forward to making one for my bathroom. Thank you!
I'm in the process of making the Rectangle rug. I cut my own 2.5" strips and used 2 1/4" batting scraps. I'm loving it.

I wondered if I could go wider.
I would give this 10 thumbs up. Simply awesome!
...and this is how a video tutorial is done! The sound of on, and on, and on from all the other videos makes me click out!
Amei seu tutorial, obrigada por compartilhar seu trabalho conosco .
My tubes twist a bit. This is the first time I’m heard/read/seen to press the tubes before sewing them together. Thank you!
Thank goodness for rotary cutters! My hands would hurt after all that cutting!
Perfect! I was on the jelly roll sight and they would'nt even tell us how to sew the strips together, Thank You so much for clearing the mystery up!

Thank goodness - a decent tutorial for this project. Good skills :)
2 1/4 strips of batting would be better.
I really liked your tutorial❤
Ótima aula , mas como chama o recheio? É um tipo de feltro, pode substituir por qual?
Great tutorial and a beautiful rug!
Thanks! 😀

No rotary cutter?
I enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you so much!!
❤🎉❤🎉❤
Why not cut then tare down length to save cutting? Any answers?
Im guessing that each finished strip is 1" wide
Exceptional video.
Awesome video!!
Мне понравилось. Хотя по расходам этот коврик обойдётся дороже купленого. 🎉🎉🎉
Rotary cutter would save you a ton of time.

2,5" = 6.35 cm
Help! My rug curled and wouldn't lay flat on the floor. What did I do wrong?
This happened to me also even though I ironed /sprayed each strip.
How to remedy the curling?
