What a brilliant way to start the rug to keep it flat! Thank you so much for sharing. I would have never thought to start it that way. Can’t wait to try this method.
Thank you so much for the way to start the rug and keep it flat.
What a wonderful easy way to make a tiny triangle. I learned to quilt last year and I made a crumb quilt out of the scraps from my quilts. I will surely make a little triangle. And a rug is a way to use up my batting scraps. I will give the rugs to the dog rescue here. They can send the dog home with its own rug
Thank you so much for being a real blessing. You did this tutorial, like a real person, speaking the language of down home people. New sub here. 👍💕
God bless you. I have been scouring over tutorial videos on Jelly Roll rugs I attempted one this last week and was really puckered up and did not lay flat at all. Your down-home way of explaining things is wonderful and a breath of fresh air. You’re not selling any product or tool or leaving out tips so you can purchase the pattern. And putting in that centerpiece is genius I’m going to try it again you’ve given me new inspiration. Thank you again.
I'm so glad this tutorial appeared in my feed today. I have lots of great scraps that would look great made into a rug. I plan to use an old (1950s) wool blanket for the batting. Lots of cutting to be done but I love the idea of using up old bits and pieces.
Hi. I made one and it was very wavy. I took it apart and redid it after watching 7 You Tubes. I did every trick suggested. STILL WAVY. Ripped it up again and GLUED THAT SUCKER instead with fabric glue!!! Lol.
Read that you will need a flat surface. In other words, you need a sewing table that meets the surface of the needle. You can use books, or anything that will raise the surrounding surface so the rug doesn't fall off that tiny sewing surface.
This is a great tutorial! This is a classic skill that the women in my family used to do with their scraps in generations past. My aunties and grandmas all had rugs like these in their kitchens and bathrooms. Thanks!
I have made 3 so far and finally got no waves Thank You Lynn you made it so much easier
Hi from the uk I’ve watched lots of videos on how to make theses rugs and yours is by far the easiest and best one thankyou x
Thanks so much 😊
I agree!
Love your illusion piece at the beginning. Brilliant. Starting the rug is the hardest part.
This is one method I can use. Thanks. I have made many baskets with clothes line, This looks so similar. appreciate it.
I literally cried trying to make my first jelly roll rug yesterday bc i couldn't get it flat😭 you are god sent🙏❤
LOVE THIS. Thanks so much for a great tutorial.
Thank you for the tip on starting the center of the rug. What a quick and easy way to start . Love your videos. You explain everything so well. Keep making them
Actually came here looking for a "no sew" rag rug but, enjoyed your tutorial so much l stayed to watch it anyway. Am looking to reuse the pile of rags that i just re-recycled from an old rag rug and that aren't good enough to sew. Will definitely be back to make one like yours though. 😁
This tutorial was excellent!! Bravo!
Excellent beginning idea! Also the rest. TU4 sharing!❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much now I know how to make the centre. Fantastic
Fantastic tutorial! Loved all your tips. So looking forward to making this rug. Thank you so much!
The "starter" oval fabric is brilliant. Then... Your method of salvaging HST at the end of those strips!!! Game changing
Scrap batting would be great for memory bears. Love this video, thank you.
I love what you're doing looks really good and I like the colors they're fantastic stay safe be careful out there and God bless
Your awesome the way your making it is so much easier
Love the rugs
You can use left over strips from different projects that look good together. Makes beautiful rugs.
You ate brilliant!!!!!!
Excellent video :) just what I was looking for!
Thank you for sharing
Laura-Lynn! Genius!
Brilliant idea
Thank you I enjoyed that , hi from the uk x
good idea! thanks
Just found your channel, love the style, reminds me of home! Plus I learn best with your teaching technique! Looking forward to making a rug(UGH wish I saved all my batting scraps) & checking out your other videos. Thanks!
Very nice rug !!😊
This was great. I just subscribed. Thank you for the tutorial!
Love it
How would you start a circular rug? Love this!
Genius!!
Thanks.
Thanks so much for all the great tips. I went and bought 6 jelly rolls this last week. I bought my batting on Amazon. It was a lot cheaper there for a 50 yard roll than the store. Can’t wait to get started on my new rug. Thanks again ❤️
I used my sprap triangles to made a matching pot holder to match my kitchen rug I made. ❤
Do,you use two, strips of batting in the rope?
Use a dab of washable school gluestick on the fabric to hold the batting in place when butting up the ends.
Supar great .mam
What kind of batting?
Having a super hard time sewing my oval jelly rug it goes wavy and I don’t think I’m starting it
Does the strip have to be on the bias..?.
For this type of project, I would not use bias strips. However, I do not speak from experience of making a rug; just knowing how much bias strips tend to stretch during the folding and sewing, I think the curved portions would want to cup way more with bias strips than strips cut on-grain.
I can’t get my rug from waving help please
Excellent idea for the center section to begin. I have supplies on hand but have been holding off on starting because of the fiddly process to get started.
I don’t know what I did wrong but mine turned into a basket instead of laying flat.
You pulled it too tight as you wrapped. Experiment with some small projects, heat pads. If the roll up, they are bowl cozies, flat, heat pads.
What size needle?
A Jean Needle
@@MPQS thank you, you're so sweet. You Make it all fun.
Could you use a outdoor fabric to make this rug
