My experience is if you stitch on the end/side of the tube vs in the middle, is that when done in the middle, the rug goes together way better especially at the beginning. When I have stitched on the edge the rug comes out more wavy because it stretches the fabric edge. Love it stitched in the middle just like you do it !❤❤❤❤❤
I did not stop and rip out a wave because this rug was the first one I’ve done. My daughter who the rug is for said mom you really need to rip out to this spot and redo the rug. About half of the rug needs to be redone. So I’m glad I have now found this video so I know next time what not to do or what to do. Thank you.
I have yet to make a jelly roll rug but saw one at my longarmer's home and I love it and want to make one OR more. I only watched a couple tutorials so far and found yours very informative. THANK you❣️
Thank You Sew Much for this Experience.. I Loved making my little one. This is my Very First Ever.. I had a little bit of learning curve and expimenting with my Stitch width and length.. I did not have to iron at all. Sew I am very Happy and Proud.. I have ordered the Pattern of all three in a group. Now I have to get the tree skirt. I will be making many of these. I just had some scrap jelly roll and cut my own batting..🙏❤️🙏
Great video, and very informative. She touched on so many aspects of this project that most other videos skip over. I will be making a rug soon. Thanks.
Great video, would love to indent fly the strange noises in background, I have made several rugs already but would like to make more at least one for every season, the hardest thing for me was the beginning and the finishing, thanks 😊for jump starting me to do more.
HI I have some of these patterns for sewing. funny l happen to be 70 years young and have made 100 eds of crochet; rugs lol. l know about bowls and what l used to call the waves of the ocean. my first one was 28'' x 63 long for my parents bed side l was 13 years. last one was made of rayon. and a perfect circle on the floor. picked up from center it reminds me of a beautiful ruffled skirt with no hole. but flat. l have been quilting for 40 years. and grandma said learn someting new each day .in quilting l have alway said God made seam rippers too. And as l have to make them by machine now well here we go. thank you.
It's when all the gorgeous hanks are in front of us that's the hardest to resist purchasing..my brain is like " you don't use what you have, stop buying it, your wasting money with it just sitting in your craft room" My heart goes " get it you neeeeed that, you don't have that colour 😂. This would go perfectly with that one you already have. Oh my look at that one"😂😂
thank you for the video. I didn’t even know about jelly roll rugs until today May 1 and I liked your video. It explained a lot and it explained that I did not have to buy the jelly roll tool after seeing how you did it it but the other thing I was wondering was the knee extension tool what is the exact name of it?
Thank you for all the information! It would be nice to see the difference between sewing the strip in the middle and the edge and see how it would look using the two different methods. Maybe on your ticktok channel?
I'd like to make 15" pads for my dining room chairs and was wondering how many jelly rolls I would need to make 6? Is there a yardage estimator tool available anywhere?
I just came across this video and I was wondering what batting you would use if Bosal precut roll is not feasable? Like what weight batting, or what brand?
Do you think maybe if you were to press your tube, you may not miss catching to back part of the tube? I hope that makes sense. I miss the back part quite a bit.
Amanda is joining us for our livestreaming event on September 15th! She'll be doing another Jelly Roll Rug tutorial! We'd be happy to ask her to show the beginning of the rug during her class! Event page on Facebook: facebook.com/events/1034242851258332
I am making my second (oval) jelly roll rug and on the 10th to 12th round it is wavy. I have steamed and pressed it which did not seem to help. Question is when seeing the next round shall I pull the fabric I am sewing a little? Would this help? Thank you
Hi. You mentioned in the video that the placemat dimensions are in the oval pattern. I have that pattern along with all the others as a matter of fact. It may be because I’ve had them awhile, but nowhere is there instruction or measurements for a placemat. Can you direct me to an answer for this?
Do you find you have better control with the fabric as you start the rug when you stitch the tube in the middle. I have only done 2 rugs and am looking to do 2 more after summer family visitations - I have purchased the walking foot after slight waffling in my first rugs. Your video is fabulous - thankyou!
Amanda was a featured educator during one of our events and might not see this comment. I recommend reaching out to her on Facebook! She's happy to help you out :) Her Facebook page: facebook.com/uniquelymateo
I’m getting a bowl on the ends. I am trying to feed extra nd m using my walking foot but it’s not pulling through and I have to push it to move. I do t know what is wrong that it’s not moving through the walking doot
If you have Facebook, you can find Amanda here: facebook.com/uniquelymateo She teaches Jelly Roll Rug virtual classes for $10 and I'm sure she'd be totally willing to help you with some tips and tricks!
You can zigzag with a walking foot unless it only has a straight-stitch needle hole. Some manufacturers recommend that you don't back stitch with them. 😉
Lol probably because it's meant for beginners. Beginners need lots of explanation. I'm sure there are other channels for more advanced people you'd enjoy more
That was rather rude. I thought she had a lot of information to share. She was articulate and provided needed information for beginners. If she hadn’t provided enough info, she would have complaints that she didn’t talk enough. Sheesh…
WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO RID YOURSELF OF OVER ABUNDANCEAMOUNT OF FABRIC, AND RECEIVE HEALING AT THE SAME TIME

I love your organized room...full of fun stuff for company and inspiration! I'm so over the decluttering movement!!!
I am really intrigued about the jelly roll rugs.
They're great because you can finish them up quickly! Perfect for when you want to work on a project that can be finished in a day or 2!
I have yet to make a jelly roll rug but saw one at my longarmer's home and I love it and want to make one OR more. I only watched a couple tutorials so far and found yours very informative. THANK you❣️
You are just the most likable person. I bet you have a hug it or of friends.

Ur a natural educator/ Teacher. Thanks for all the explanations.
Loved this, you did a very thorough job of explaining everything!

What all do I need to make one? How many jelly rolls do I need?
I love yours. I don’t know if I can make them as pretty as yours, but I’m gonna try😁

Amanda is a talented Jelly Roll maker and educator! We're glad she did this for us!
I just picture all my hard work getting so dirty! 😂😭 are they easy to wash? Just wash in cold and dry?
I have one of those clear table tops for my machine and it fits perfectly
I love making these. I just have trouble getting them started
I really like your glasses.
Thank you for all the information! It would be nice to see the difference between sewing the strip in the middle and the edge and see how it would look using the two different methods. Maybe on your ticktok channel?
Love your earrings

Great video. One question you didn’t mention thread weight.
Excellent video and timing. I’m taking a class on this next week!
Love the watermelon so cute
Excellent video and tips. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤️ 😍 YOUR VIDEO'S THANK YOU❤😂

Love jelly roll rug
So much fun!!
How do you sew your fabric together? I have seen it done two different ways.
I had the same question. How do the strips get sewn together
Zigzag stitching!
I think different machines call for a specific thread weight. I have Babylock, and the manual says to use 60 weight thread.
When did you start making the rugs?
Do you have a tutorial starting the begging on the rug. I am really worried about the starting the rug. Thank you

We’re can I find your classes?
Stitch top needle or denim needle which size( number) ? Which one to pick?
She shared in a different video that she uses a 14 topstitch needle 😊

Great tutorial. What type of thread do you recommend?
100% cotton or a polyester?
I’ve used both.
I have a jelly roll with 40 strips. what size rug or place mate will this make?
where can you get the patterns and the materials? I’m having trouble finding it in my hometown.
I really would like to see beggening the wayyou olace the first strip how do you start de jellyrug, that is my biggest issue starting

What sewing machine foot do you use?
What size bias tape maker do you need?
So you use maxi lock server thread?
You should try making a jelly roll bag
Where do I buy all the materials to make the jelly roll rug
What size of needle do I need for my sewing machine for the jelly roll rug
What stitch length and width do you use.
Do you find you have better control with the fabric as you start the rug when you stitch the tube in the middle. I do quilts for charity what do you do with the triangles scraps
Can I sew one. By hand?😂
I was wondering the same but was thinking it would take a year to make a small rug 😄
That's the most ambitious method I've ever heard of. If you do it that way, Awesome!
Do you use a walking foot
Did you try Heart ?
I wonder if I can’t lay it out flat on the floor and make the rug and pin it like mom did her quilts.
I’m getting a bowl on the ends. I am trying to feed extra nd m using my walking foot but it’s not pulling through and I have to push it to move. I do t know what is wrong that it’s not moving through the walking doot

@@SewingPartsOnlinemaybe raise the height of you sewing machine foot.
Have you got a peacock in your yard 😊
How do you start the rug
I’m a beginner’s beginner…I have a walking foot however I was told I could not zigzag with it🤷♀️
You can zigzag with a walking foot unless it only has a straight-stitch needle hole. Some manufacturers recommend that you don't back stitch with them. 😉
How do you do the first bend
I shape my first bend in the shape of a "nine"
I'm unable to get sound on this video. Tried everything I could but unsuccesful.
Helpful video but soooo many ads 😭
Google ad blocker and install. No ads!
This video would be MUCH better if you would show more of the procedure and less of yourself
I dont like the design and colors used
??? You can design and use any color you want! That's the point of making your own rug!
You are talking too much!
Lol probably because it's meant for beginners. Beginners need lots of explanation. I'm sure there are other channels for more advanced people you'd enjoy more
