- In 14 june 1999 Henry 'Junjo' Lawes was shooted and murdered in London. Exactly, today, 25 years ago.
He was one of the greatest producers of jamaican music of all times. His label, Volcano, is a guarantee of good music, despite it was actually working for just 5 years in the early 80's.
Many reggae and early dancehall stars worked and made hit songs with Junjo. We talking about Yellowman, Barrington Levy, Johnny Osbourne, Cocoa Tea , Eak-A-Mouse, Frankie Paul or Michael Prophet.
Of course, Junjo's job was extremely well done with the help of great Roots Radics band and the legendary Hopeton Overton Brown AKA Scientist as engineer at the controls at Channel One Studio in Kingston JA.
You cand find music produced by Junjo on Volcano, Jah Guidance, Arrival and Greensleves labels.

Junjo doesn't deserve any tribute. Prince Far I was killed because of this criminal. Plus he stole other artists work.
Any other source than an interview with Ray Cousins? The story is as heart breaking as it is probable. Nevertheless, the result of Radics and Scientist work for Junjo's money still stands great music.
@@zasadselekta Its not only the Far I story. Greensleeves released SIX Scientists "albums" without even telling Scientist because Junjo brought them the tapes. They compiled random Scientist dubs from Junjos production tapes and added some sound effects and intros to fit the theme of the album. For instance they added Halloween soundeffects to the dubs that then appaerd on the "Scientist Rids the World..." album with all these vampires and mummies on the cover. And then they released it and didn't tell Scientist and of course they paid him absolutely nothing. When Scientist realised this and sued them Greensleeves changed the name to "Junjo presents" instead of "Scientists presents" so they could profit from his work without paying him anything.
This alone is enough for me to never pay any tribute to Junjo.

I guess sadly we will never know %100 who and why killed Prince Far I.
About the credits, only thing we can do is to credit artist on their works and reivindicate them.
