  • Skip to 2:15 if you want to go straight to the presets and bypass my first bit!
    Just got my hands on the brand new ‪@MerisUs‬ Mercury X Modular Stereo Reverb pedal and I'm blown away! This thing has 84 different presets, each one more incredible than the last. I've been methodically going through each preset, tweaking the knobs and experimenting with the hold function to sculpt some truly lush and immersive reverbs. Come along this journey as we explore the presets together!
    The Mercury X really shows off Meris' modulation prowess - lush chorused reverbs, cascading octave trails, even warm tape echos. But it can also do super clean and subtle rooms or massive cavernous halls. From ambient drones to surfy springs, this pedal can do it all!
    And when you pair it with the Meris LVX Modular Delay, you've got the ultimate stereo pedalboard. The LVX handles all the echo duties while the Mercury X brings the space. In this video I'm playing a ‪@GandLGuitars‬ 40th Anniversary S-500 into a ‪@29Pedals‬ EUNA, into my ‪@Audientworld‬ Sono interface, which feeds the ‪@BensonAmps‬ Chimera VST by ‪@MixWaveOfficial‬ then back out into the Montreal Assembly Too Positive stereo overdrive into the LVX and finally the Mercury X and the sound is phenomenal. Huge, three-dimensional landscapes of sound!
    If you're looking for the most deep and versatile reverb pedal, look no further than the Meris Mercury X. It's got presets for days and sounds incredible. Definitely check it out!

    Based on this video, ive aready made notes on what presets i want to use when i get my mercury X. I used Strymon Timeline,Big Sky for many years. Fantastic stuff. But Meris has raised the bar for Ambient sounds, for sure. Thank You.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  9 месяцев назад

      You’re quite welcome! Meris has raised the bar for sure! Between the LVX and Mercury X, I have all the ambient sounds j could ask for…but they can also do basic sounds as well. The Timeline/Big Sky is over a decade old. It’s held up really really well, but Strymon is behind. I do look forward to seeing what their answer to this is.
      Best part of what Meris is doing though is that we know they can bring out an “Enzo X” and “Ottobit Sr.”, not to mention something completely new we haven’t suspected!

      I dunno. Do you think the clean tone on a video like this is important? I figure so to give a reference of the signal coming in and knowing what the pedal is doing. You tell me though.
      Also, I hope your dog is ok

      The MercX can get some of that Ensemble mode going on. I’m about to shoot a video with the MercX going against the BigSkyMX where I make presets on the BSMX and then see how close I can get on the MercX. The Cloud algo has Ensemble. Those presets will be available on the Patreon

      @@thepedalcollaborative What's a good reverb pedal to compliment a Strymon Big Sky? Got my first reverb pedal after twenty years of playing and looking to expand. I love everything about the Big Sky except Chorale. I would prefer a pedal to be stereo, midi capable and true bypass if possible. I was looking at Chase Bliss CM 1978, Meris Mercury X, Poly Effects Verbs and Strymon Nightsky the most. I asked around and Source Audio Ventris came up a lot.... What would your next pedal be between those 5?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  3 месяца назад +1

      @exteriorhomeservices6458 what a great question! Here’s my honest take. The BigSky and MercuryX are too alike so if you have the BigSky then the MercuryX would be redundant. The CXM1978 is amazing. But it’s only 3 sounds. Room, plate, and hall. They sound fantastic no doubt but again, you can get that on the BigSky.
      That leaves the Poly Verbs or the Nightsky is cool. Both are completely different from each other. The Nightsky is very experimental and can do some really cool things. But again its basis is a sound you can probably get from the BigSky. The Verbs is a convolution reverb, so it’s got real spaces in there AND the ability to load other IRs. My gut says the Verbs

      @@thepedalcollaborative Thank you for the responses. I greatly appreciate your take on this and all the awesome videos. I definitely don't want redundant and if it only had a few sounds but they're far superior to others I'd be interested. I spend most of my time on hall, room, plate and spring but find uses and like swell, bloom, cloud, shimmer, magneto, non linear and reflections. I generally like my reverb to be at the extremes of realistic and subtle or extremely ambient and spacious but without heavy modulation. Not trying to make a guitar sound like a synth if that makes sense. The Nightsky is the only one that's available that I could try locally and I really should. That Verbs seems so cool but in the back of my mind I'm worried about buffer vs true bypass and I prefer the layout of the jacks on the other pedals vs TRS cables on the Poly. Pedal newbie and a little OCD lol. Ultimately it comes down to sound but I think you've given me great direction into what I should narrow it down to. Many thanks!

    I have ordered the mercury x. I’m wondering is it better than the cxm or around the same but with more algos and options? It really sounds amazing though to me. I really don’t need another reverb but must have this.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  9 месяцев назад +2

      I have not directly AB’d them yet but plan to soon so stay tuned!
      From first glance, the algorithms the CXM and Mercury X share overlap to a large degree, but not everything is the same. For example, the Mercury X doesn’t offer different clock options. It’s only Hifi. Some parameters on the Mercury X are MORE definable though.
      If you need only 1 reverb with the most diversity in options, then the Mercury X. The CXM is quicker to dial in though and on the fly would be an amazing tool for an live engineer or in post.
      Would you go wrong with either? Not at all!

  • @musicnine
    @musicnine 9 месяцев назад +1

    Very tempted to buy this. Just one question, please. These sounds are created using ONLY the mercury X ? Or have you engaged the LVX also ? Kindly throw some light on this, please

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Yes, shimmer can be achieved by adding pitch shifter before the reverb. There are several module options on the Mercury X that can do it.

    • @thepedalcollaborative

      I have the 29 Pedals EUNA at the front of my chain and then the Montreal Assembly Too Positive stereo overdrive with minimal gain…more of a transparent OD/Boost.
      Otherwise, all the sounds are the stock presets from the MercuryX!

  • @indigo539832

    Sloer or Mercury x what are the best in your opinión?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh that’s a tough one! To be fair I have only begun exploring the MercuryX as I’ve had it about a week now. That said I did put it side by side with the Slöer on Dream mode to see the differences in the way the two pedals freeze the signal when pressing their respective buttons.
      Overall here’s my take:
      MIDI: Mercury X wins as Slöer doesn’t have it
      Presets: Mercury X wins as it has 99 available. Slöer has 3
      Pad/Freeze: Mercury X wind as when you freeze the signal and continue to play, the new notes you’re playing still have the reverb applied. On the Slöer the new notes are dry.
      Ease of use: Slöer wins as it’s easier to dial in right out of the box. The Mercury X takes some time to learn but once you do it’s pretty easy.
      Hope that helps!

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  9 месяцев назад +1

      Also, I think the Mercury X Can probably do all the sounds in the Slöer if you’re willing to dial them in. But the Slöer is easier from the start to get those sounds

    • @indigo539832

      Can they Mx do they sample rate thing like they Sloer?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  8 месяцев назад +1

      @indigo539832 the Slöer has specific parameters you can tweak like the Stretch control, which is essentially sample rate as you mentioned. The MX approaches this in a different way by allowing the tweak of virtually any parameter and combine things like you would on a modular rack. So for the MX you’d dig into the lofi settings and tweak to your desire!
