Thanks for watching my video :) as a correction: the "leap of faith" in the Lost City level was not required, but appears to be a speed-run technique that some super-gamer walk-through author wrote entirely to goof on me. Apparently you can backtrack back through the whole level or there is probably an imperceptible alternate route that I might have found if I wasn't fed up with that area. At least I got to have an epic gamer moment to showcase
Yup, and you had no business on that rooftop either - had to just get the talisman and descend the tower; but I'd like to think the spirit of the game pulled you up there and helped you with the leap. ;)
Great video by the way; and thank you for dealing with the haters :D
@@HammerHand83 I think my fuck up was worth it for that quality Dick Grayson line :p
It was quite confusing seeing you up on the rooftop. I actually booted the game up to check because I couldn't remember that part. Hey, at least you pulled off something cool in game, breaking some boundaries
@@GrimBeard It sure was 👌
you went so hard on the stupid that you transcended into cool. nice
Fun fact: Thief was very innovative, and actually introduced the concept of theft or “stealing” to the world at large. Before Thief, no one ever had to lock up their valuables.
Oohhh is that why older generations always talked about never having to lock their doors at night?
The more you know.
@@Jakster840 No that would be the Lovecraftian horror that is the neg*o
I mean i think you kinda could steal in Castle Wolfenstein 1981 if you walked up to a guard and clicked search button
@@RaineErasmusWalker Truly the most terrifying monster
Good for them, pioneers really.. there's a whole industry around locks security electric fences and stuff.. did they invent electric fences? And security cameras as well.. I never saw those ADT signs till after thief 2, which kind of makes me think.. what else do we owe looking Glass that we have cast aside forgotten with prejudice and incredulity.. including people who used to work at looking glass, if not some of the worst offenders sadly.. nothing like raising a bar to drop it and everybody be okay with it..
Thief is that game that tricked me into thinking the future of first person games would be amazing.
And then consoles happened. I reckon Xbox and PS2 kinda brought the possible future of gaming down a fair bit.
Or maybe it was just that Looking Glass were on the verge of more greatness, and they slumped in a heap at the same time as the consoles came out.
Overall, in the decades following, I think the consoles have also brought improvements, polish, big budgets... but yeah... Hmmm.
At the time, I felt they distracted the emphasis of what made the frontier of PC gaming so good, and instead crippled games with memory limitations and inferior simplified controls, and games that had to hit a mainstream lowest-common-denominator.
Nothing could best king of sneaks, especially when it comes to atmosphere, but I recommend you to try dishonored/prey(2017)/bioshock games played stealth style. Those are really good FPSs that helped me when I was making breaks between playing Thief fan missions.
Yes, but have you played Bear Stearns Bravo?
@@mholic486 dishonored and prey are literally homages to Looking Glass Studios' immersive sims - thief and system shock. Arkane studios are major fans of looking glass and their approach to game design

There's a story about a man who played the violin, but he only ever played the same note. It started to drive his wife crazy, so one day she says, hey, other guys play all around the violin, how come you just play this one note all the time? And he replies, "They're looking for the spot. I've found it." And that's how I feel about Thief
hi j phoenix i saw your most recent ironmen run!
Yogok Yos Awesome, thanks buddy
I don't even know what tf that means mate
EDIT: I got it haha
Haven't even watched the video yet- just wanted to tell you that I think I love you.
So what are you so afraid of?
So thanks for reviewing my favorite game and being nice to it. I wanted to give a few tips I wasn't sure if you knew about based on the footage. So here goes:
1. When using fire arrows, it's better to aim at the center of an enemy than their head. This deals more damage.
2. Having a weapon out, other than the blackjack or Constantine's sword, makes you more visible. So it's better to keep them sheathed when you're not using them.
3. The hammerite guards in Undercover get suspicious if you steal loot. That might be why that one guy was mad. It's better to knock them all out before you start taking things.
4. You're not supposed to climb on top of the Lost City tower or jump across the lava. That's a trick to save time. If you're gonna do it though, you can use a speed potion to make it easier.
5. If you're having trouble navigating, try using the compass!
6. You can do a lot more with control customization than people realize. So as a bonus, here's some of my binds:
W- Run
S - Walk
A and D - strafe
X - Walk backwards
Shift - Creep
Q and E - Lean
R - Drop item
F - Crouch
Z and C - triangle and square lockpick
Ctrl - Flashbomb
V - Compass
Tab - Next inventory item
B - Previous inventory item
Middle click - clear inventory
G - Health Potion
1-9 - Weapons
~ - Clear weapon
- and + - adjust gamma
M- Map
O - Objectives
Alt+W - Lean forward
Alt+S - Quicksave
Alt+L - Quickload
In particular, keeping flashbombs and lockpicks on an easy to reach key makes life a lot easier.
I hope you go on to play the rest of the trilogy (if you haven't already) and some fan missions as well. Been following your channel for a while now and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to more videos in the future.
It's great to see so many Thief fans are actually out there, and congregating around this sort of content.
I plan to make a stealth game that will hopefully appeal to you all one day, too. :)
Good tips. Also, gas arrows (and mines) ignore alert state of enemies, and to help with maze-like levels, strongly recommend keeping compass in view at all times, and frequent glances at maps.
@Grimbeard
At around 33:00 we see Victoria, who somewhat resembles her voice actor (and game designer) the amazing Terri Brosius, who also voiced Shodan in, and helped with creation of, System Shock I and II. She also sang vocals for Tribe in the 90s, it's on Ytube.
I'd love to see your take on Thief: Deadly Shadows, too, if you feel interested. It's pretty good, with one of the best horror missions I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
Oh yeah, having flash bombs on a hotkey is very handy, and makes it easy to pull off an exploit that I've never actually seen anyone mention: If you want to get rid of loads of guards at once just run through the level and make them all chase you. Make sure they don't fall too far behind or they'll go into the search state. When you're satisfied with the number of guards giving chase just drop a flash bomb which will blind and confuse every single one of them- while they're fumbling around they'll be open to the blackjack, which is usually not the case after they enter their alert state. And hey presto, you can now gank them all one by one provided you're quick enough to sorted them all out before they regain their vision.
or, you know, design the game better
@@muzboz What you think of Thief 4?
I've played through this probably half a dozen times and I'm almost certain that in The Lost City the near-impossible jump is not actually required to complete the level.
Dang, I must be so gamer than.
Me too. I have never done that jump either.
@@aces_games get on my level I guess? 😏
@@GrimBeard That jump was a great accomplisment. It reminds me of Quake strafe jumping back in the day :D
@@aces_games there is probably some barely noticable passage in the grey rock which leads you back up towards the surface
Once upon a time, I thought System Shock 2 had the most unnerving and horrifying sound design ... then I played the pagan section of this game. Holy moly!

Just want you to know that "the algorithm" let me to your channel, specifically this video, and I hope many more people are brought here in the same manner. The amount of character and personality in your videos is a rare thing to stumble across in this vast expanse of video game video essays found in the corner of youtube I seem to be corralled into, and was sorely needed.
The Algorithm also got me, actually recommended to me which is noice.
Algorithm got me too. Great channel.
That impossible leap in the Lost City is meant to be approached from the opposite direction at the beginning of the level, to tease you with the tower housing the talisman, and Garrett will say that the lost city "ain't lost no more" (very witty dialogue). You can just as easily complete the mission by backtracking to the big flooded cavern full of spiders at the beginning of the city. That way, you also never have to climb onto the tower's roof. Your walkthrough was basically teaching you a speed-running tactic.
Except when I played the game I ended up thinking I had to do the samething so he's not alone in his understanding of what to do.
I also found that ledge and got the dialogue you mentioned, but the level looks so similar it's hard to recognize that this ledge was one I visited before.
The level is also annoying in expert since you need 500 gems but there's literally no hint that those blue gems on the walls were interactable.
There's nothing in the game ever like them again so I ended up spending 1hr running around looking for gems until a youtube video showed me these were pickups. Complete BS.

Thanks Grim Beard, I haven't even watched the video yet but you just made my night you lousy taffer.
@@theD0gfish I had watched already, but I fully agree with you.
After playing Thief 3 as a kid long time ago, I just recently finally finished the whole Thief trilogy, and I cannot agree more with that video.
Simply by not having a super precise GPS map and an objective marker, it seemed as if I turned on the ignition of my brain. No longer I was blindly following objectives like a cat running after a laser pointer, I was invested in the world of Thief, I paid attention to the environment, I read notes and eavesdropped conversations in an honest effort to get clues. Therefore being more immersed in the fantastic atmosphere.
Great stuff, now I really want more games like this...
Having said that, the Thief games were not perfect though, sometimes the ancient graphics make it hard to tell what you're looking at, making the levels more confusing than they should be and getting me lost, the "Thieves Guild" is the worst offender for me, that level can fuck itself, almost made me quit my attempt at the Thief games!
That was just my experience though, for example, I don't think I exited the ruins the way Grim did at 28:30, I didn't even knew of that exit... I just retraced my steps to get out, I also didn't have troubles climbing the tower... Loved the whole level.
I guess making games like this creates more unknown variables to the player, most of the present day devs worst fear...

I've been waiting a year to be in just the right mood to finally beat Thief 2, tonight it hit me so i needed a video refresher before starting. Got my drinks and snacks, a totally quite pitch dark house.
Anyone else know that perfect gaming mood where a game just calls to you?
Felt simmilarly about Death Stranding a few months ago, I didn't stop playing it until I 100%ed it. I played for over 160 hours...
@@SimpleArt93 That's pretty impressive.
@@kanetombs1275 Game's honestly a gem, I wish the sequel would come out tomorrow so I could keep experiencing that world.
Felt similarly about Dishonored, The Pathless, Shadow of Colossus and The Last Guardian.
This game will be treasured and played into the 23rd century and beyond.
I'll always love how thematically consistent this trilogy is.
The Dark Project: nature threatens to overtake technology, Gareth stops the Trickster and keeps the balance.
The Metal Age: technological advancement almost destroys the defenders of nature, Gareth stops Karras and keeps the balance.
Deadly Shadows: the Keepers of balance themselves are threatened, Gareth stops the Hag, and finally accepts his role as a Keeper.
Or the Keepers themselves are gone entirely? One of the scenes implies that the Keepers' books are empty and all the knowledge they gained lost.
That's another thing that the series hinted at from day one, how Garrett would show the Keepers their true purpose. Until then they just confined themselves to be hidden, registering everything but not stepping in. Garrett ended up being the prophesized person that upheld the balance even when they themselves got corrupted by the Hag.

I wish more games used diegetic ambience the way Thief did. All the weird hums and drones in different areas didn't just function as ambience and a sort of abstract soundtrack, they also helped with orientation, because even areas that looked pretty similar often had a distinct sound. Which could even be heard when just passing by.
"Go through the horrific distorted klaxon room, then take a left at the eerie whistling corridor."
Man I hope we get videos for the rest of the series.
Maybe not the "entry that shall not be named" however

Great review as always, you beautiful hermit. Thief Gold is one of my favorite games of all time, and I played it for the first time in 2013, so it's certainly not the nostalgia speaking. Also, make sure you play Thief II, as while It has less of the supernatural elements of the original, it makes up for it with incredible storytelling, atmosphere and level design not often seen in modern games or even games in general. Thief II is my probably my favorite game of all time.
And after that, play Thief 3 as well.
@@legion999 Definitely also worth paying.
@@legion999 I liked Thief 3 best. Unpopular opinion, I know. For me Thief 3 was the best mix of Thief gameplay, atmosphere and modern day convenience and graphics. The asylum/orphanage alone was one of the best levels in any game I have played ever.
@@Eener1000 I agree. The game's atmosphere is exceptional and the story is the best in the entire series. Eventhough Thief 3 is less ambitious and got a fair share of balancing/technical issues, it's an incredible game. Those thief fans who say that it's not worthy of being part of this trilogy are retarded.

It's amazing how some games age so well. I mean character models do look dated at times but everything else has kept this game amazing all these years. Story, gameplay, sound and brilliant art style made this game a timeless classic. This was once in a life time experience. Levels were deliberately designed to make you confused and afraid. You always feared that you, an underpowered person might get lost in a huge place. You had two choices, complete main objectives and leave or venture deeper for reward while increasing the chances of getting lost or killed. Levels themselves are your enemy. They add more to horror elements, and not some giant monsters like other games. That makes this game special. It offers different kinda challenge. There are empty places in the game but that's what makes the game immersive too. A lot of games are made to make you feel like you're entering one movie set after another. Developers think there needs to be something scripted or eye catching in every room. Thief on other hand keeps things grounded in reality. Just like real life, you can find certain things in certain rooms, or you may not. I think that grounded approach is the reason why it catches you off guard when big twists and turns happen in the story because everything feels real and then you realize there is more to the world than meets the eye.
The POV footage is really well shot. The lighting in the final shot is disquieting, has a Lost Highway / PT vibe.
It always baffles me how many classic games passed me by either because I outright missed them for some reason or another, or simply because I played - and preferred - its contemporaries.
Shortly before I played Thief, I played Tenchu. And man oh man that's quite a change of pace.
To clarify, I vastly preferred Tenchu, as the amount of mobility and vertical movement was amazing for its time despite the janky turret-controls.
Dude I could listen to you talk about video games all day long. That's literally what I'm doing right now and you've got me *cackling*. And then you referenced Marathon Infinity and Damage Inc in the same breath and now I'm fucking giddy. You made me have a good day, how dare you? I hope you are well and keep doing what you're doing because it is excellent and you are excellent *chef's kiss*
Thief Gold is one of my favorite stealth games (next to Thief 2), what a delight to have Grimboi covering it!
"WestWorld: 2000" - Holy shit, that game was real? For all these years I thought it was the residue of some pre-pubescent fever dream.
Yes! I've been waiting for you to review this game. Also, I hope this year you get the attention you deserve. Your channel is a hidden gem that needs to be discovered by more people. You deserve the bag.
This is a totally unique take on fantasy, its dark, horror like fantasy, with weird disturbing shit everywhere, and reality deconstructing. Its sadly not often in the medium.
Thank you so much for the great review! I love both T1 and T2 series, this video made me want to replay them all again
Thief was the reason to slap a Creative Labs Sound Blaster sound card in your PC. EAX audio and the best sound design up till that point. Hell it makes some recent games "sound" like shite. True multi point sound for the first time in a game and done right at that. I had a corner style desk with the speakers at 4 points. 2 of them off the side and behind each shoulder. Today I guess you could just use an Amp, but hey, it was 1998 and multi positional audio hadn't been built into Amps yet.
Gold was more difficult but I still liked it, they include damn cool levels cut from first release. That mushroom cave pagan mage temple in the volcanic chamber level, damn. The last game had so much potential. It was pretty, but that was about it. Oh and the rope arrow only used at the same got, damn, hanging plank everywhere. In the original Thief you could use a rope arrow on any wood anywhere. Not in the year 2014 apparently. Being able to hear people right next to you like they are screaming in your ear even though they're behind a 2 foot thick stone wall. Big let downs there.
Was recommended your channel through the SOMA video today and binged a few videos. I love the gags out of nowhere (“or you just like my sad, sleepy bird voice...” which I do!). Love the vids dude!
I'm here because I can't get enough of your sad, sleepy bird voice. You hit the nail right on the head there. Best youtuber on here
If this was your intro to the Thief games (and since you liked it so much), I strongly advise that you play Thief II ASAP.
The noise mechanics are similar to what it's like to try to sneak back in to your bed room upstairs when you're 16.... The level of sneak involved in opening the outside window, slow, opening the door, complete darkness, sliding towards the stairs, picking the exact areas of the stairs that don't scream 'SSSSKKKKWWEEEKKK CLLACK'' over 20 steps. Pressure building... the closer you get
Your videos just keep getting better! Keep it up! Will be buying your newest album when I get my paycheck at the end of the month.
Few mention the prose of these in game texts.
This is the only game I loved to read the in game text.
„Before death came,
the liars were made to feast upon the hands of the thieves,
and the thieves were made to ingest the tongues of their liar brothers,
and we praised the Master Builder for his judgements.“
- The Hammer Book of Tenets
"Builds your Roofs of Dead Wood. Builds your Walls of Dead Stone. Builds your Dreams of Dead Thoughts. Comes Crying Laughing Singing back to Life, takes what you steal, And pulls the skins from your Dead Bones shrieking."
-Clay tablet in an abandoned Trickster Temple
...and the manfools piled rock on rocks and raised a treesie roof,
hammers saws tear the skin of goodsie wood...
...and laughs at the Woodsie Lord.
...and when learns the Lord of this, He sends His beastesses to the manfools...
...who attacks and hammers saws their use-less fleshes,
and build him a house of they rotting skins.“
--Unattributed Trickster song
Such great flavor text.
Four hours late on this? What was I doing, living? Discovering new love? New ways to love myself? New forms of self-expression? Bump all that, I should have been here, dammit! But honestly, fantastic review, GB. May this new year be full of many burritos and the widest of FOVs and maybe some booty, too.
💘💘💘 Possibly the most important, but least obvious tip: Keep compass on screen AT ALL TIMES. Without this, "maps are just drawings." -Killface
Sidenote: Whenever you might get to it, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Shalebridge Cradle in Thief: Deadly Shadows...assuming you survive. lol
I grew up with this game, and to this day it (or the sequel, one of the two) is my favorite stealth experience. Also I remember playing System Shock 2 for the first time much later and wondering why the movement and graphics felt so intensely nostalgic ... until I looked it up and realized it uses Thief's engine.
"Sneak thief" is now a term I find pops into my head somewhat frequently and I'm glad it's there 👍
Good LORD MAN! You mentioned Chasm: The Rift. I thought I imagined it, it was so obscure.
There's an alternative method besides the leap of faith. You can backtrack all the way you came in through in the start.
That's hilarious 😂
@@GrimBeard I don't think you're even intended to make that leap of faith. I'm pretty sure your really suposed to backtrack all the way to the start.
@@GrimBeard That bhop strafe jump into mantle was pretty impressive though.
Yes you are supposed to backtrack to the beginning because after stealing the Talisman the fireball enemies will spawn troughout the ruins to stop the player
I like that you mention specifically how AUDIO has just never really been done this well again in games since, even in the past 20 years!
The sound in the first 2 games was excellent, both in the sound design, but just as importantly in the programming implementation itself!
The sound propagation, and how the AI respond to sounds made in the level, was better than anything else I've seen since.
Even Thief 3 I think was a step backwards in many regards, due to using the Unreal engine, which "looked better" but I don't think Ion Storm ever got the rest of the engine to work as well as the funky old Looking Glass engine. :)
28:33 I only just finished the game myself and while it's a jump that can be made, exploiting the increase in speed off of consecutive jumps to clear the space, it's intended that you backtrack through as the level actually repopulates with fire elementals after getting the talisman. That ledge serves more as an early point to spy the talisman, giving you the rough area of where it is. . ^^
Edit: DERP! I should have read the pinned comment first; my bad! XD
Watching all of these reviews makes me think that Nightmare Creatures might be up your alley.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this at all. Best surprise of the decade so far!
Edit: of course I mean the new telephone
I think this is you at your funniest so far. Great, in-depth review, as always.
The Thief: Metal Age sequel is fantastic. Tremendous, deep game for the time. Best voice work in gaming. Never shoulda changed Garret's voice.
I just happened upon your YouTune page, I'm two videos in and I'm very pleased! I have a soft spot for budding RUclipsrs and I enjoy reviewers, most of all for older or obscure games. Your script is wonderful and funny! I'm subbed and will be bingeing on your videos! I wish you the best of success and will be looking forward to your next video!
About Thief, when I was a kid I bought it based just on the box, thinking much like that review that it was just a thieving simulator. I didn't like it then as it wasn't what I was expecting. However, as an adult I may have to give it a try and it seems far more to my liking now.
One of my favorite games ever, Ninja Gaiden (XBOX), Resident Evil 4 and Thief are my top three favorite games ever and so it always warms my heart to stumble upon videos of one of my favorite games made by the newer generations and to see that it is still well liked it warms my heart.
It's unfortunate you decided to play Thief Gold, Thief Gold is largely despised by the thief community because the missions added don't really work as well as the missions in the original thief they're too big and filled with repetitive rooms and corridos and it's why it's so easy to get lost and disoriented within it's environment, so if I would have to recomend this to anyone I'd urge them to avoid playing Thief Gold and play the original instead, save yourself the headache.
But this is still my favorite game and I will cherish it always and I hope the newer generations continue to rediscover this gem so that the myth, the legend that is one of the best sagas in videogames lives on forever, long live thief.
Oh wow KMFDM. I found KMFDM because I was in love with Thief 2 intro music and was searching for something similar. I have been fan of KMFDM ever since then
Aw man, can't talk about audio in Thief and just forget the Haunts
Great video of one of my favorite series ever.
I would like to see a version of Thief: The Dark Project (NOT GOLD) made easily accessible for people to play.
I feel like there are a few good levels added to Gold, but also numerous bad, winding, frustrating, average levels, like The Lost City & Thieves Guild, where the game would maybe just be better without any of the changes done for Gold.
I need to investigate this claim properly one day though, as it might be rubbish.
I feel like the Opera level added in Gold is fairly cool though, with some unique stuff going on.
Maybe the fans just need to get together and really decide on how to release a DIAMOND version. :) The best of the best, re-edited, polished up, etc.
The Lost City was in non-GOLD version TDP though.
@@kosmosyche Ah right. :D Thanks for the correction.
26:27 My God this game has source physics.. in 1998! Welcome Mr Garrett to the H-E-v, mk-0... For navigating in hazardous Source physics environments... Blessed be the builder. ..
And this is how Garrett became a morphine addict just like Freeman...
Very cool video. As much as I've looked up this game over the years, you still said some things I hadn't heard before.
Wow, I thought of watching a Thief review and BOOM! Brand New review! Awesome!
That's the 2nd time
you've mentioned Realms of the Haunting. I'd love to see your take on that game
You’re underrated, I really enjoy your videos, keep goin boi
The Fire Shadow scared the shit out of me too lol.
Also I never noticed this despite playing Thief since I was 9, but Victoria is wearing a choker made of wooden vines when you first see her, and then she turns out to be some kind of wood nymph. Nice foreshadowing there.
Hey dude, this was brilliant very entertaining and so hilarious with your personal way, thank you made me sub and that's saying something, since I've seen couple of these Thief reviews. This was the most fun and brilliantly dark as the game itself.
Not gonna lie, I grew up with this game but always just replayed the first mission over and over. As soon as I saw a zombie it killed the thing I was loving about the game and I didn't want to go further 😅
The music is so mind bendingly good. This game made my teenage years tolerable.
Regarding your comment around 6:00, I'm here because I can't get enough of your sad, sleepy, bird voice.
Aeon Flux on MTV's Liquid Television was appointment viewing in the 90s. Nice callback!
gota respect a man that keeps in his own gamer goof for everyone to see
I'd like to compliment you on a very specific thing that made me laugh. Your delivery on "ha-haaa!.. deceit".
It was just really funny.
I remember this game being released to the masses of reviewers who at the time were used to FPS games like Quake 2 and wouldn't compromise for anything slightly different. This game got votes graviting somewhere around the 75 out of 100 area and only got a vote that "high" because of the "novelty" being stealth. Reviewers complained about the lack of shiny special effects and didn't like the idea of guards, the "good guys" of that time being outsmarted or defeated. Luckily I got to try the demo, and I can say it was the best game I ever played.
The title itself was contoversial, but when you think about all the negative, hateful, stupid or disgusting roles people can choose to play as nowdays, being a thief still looks like the least empowering of them all. It sobered up the person playing the game to the fighting limitations of the main character, only to be immersed into something entirely different than most of the other games out there.
So glad that those weird skits returned.
34:31 Oh no! fractured pxxxx!!!!
That really made me burst out with laughter.
Simply a beautiful video, I loved the editing, your insights and how you replicated the mood of the game throughout the video.
And I yeah, Thief is a masterpiece
Love your work man!!
"Cosmic Ninja Monks" - Bam! Beat that! Anyone, I dare ya!
I was NOT expecting to hear a shoutout to F-117 in this video.
This was a great review 😊 I'm glad you liked my favorite game ever! You made good points for your critique. That glitch with him dying from peeking is so scary yet hilarious 😂
I, too, am a fan of small stories in big worlds. It's why Saga is one of my favorite comic series. A universe filled with lore and it's the personal stories of a handful of characters that is the focus. Broader things are hinted at but only in service to how those things reflect upon the core cast. Not sure how many people here are comic fans but if you are a comic fan, or just a fan of great character writing, check out Saga
Yo this channel hella underrated wouldn't of found out bout you if not for mandalore. Subbed.
One of my favourite games of all time. I revisit it every year and have a blast!
I enjoyed Dishonored also, I ignored the story and just played every level like it would be Thief and steal everything anywhere!
Thank you Grim, for everything you give us.
Thief & Thief 2 are probably my favourite games ever. Invented the 'stealth FPS' sub-genre and have still never been bettered.
My favourite game! Haven't even watched yet but I'm so excited.
