I picked up a rockaway Archer about a month ago & it’s a killer pedal! Also I switched out most of my power supplies to the Friedman power grids & they are outstanding! Killer board Pete!
Really love your sounds! Thanks for sharing your set up with us. And thank you for presenting the information so clearly and concisely. Your demonstrations, I feel, are consistently among the very best for guitar players.
Really good looking board. Nice and neat. I've built boards for people in the past (well more the switching systems) and it never ceases to amaze me when I look at someone who's been playing professionally for years, sometimes decades, they'll have vintage pedals and pricey boutique pedals, but using the $1.99 patch cables that are in the jugs at the counter in shops (jugs that normal have penny candy). Its.... Maddening.
Thanks for all the hard work Pete , the 'guitar hero glimpse' into your life always reveals how much of a pro you are , seems like it only gets better and better. Keeping the torch alive for sure , bringing guitar back to the front! Steller vid , one of my faves , what tone!
That's an amazing scope of sounds from that board, covering a whole range of guitar tones. I particularly love the 'edge' preset and the mobius swell sounds for the specific song patch are magical!
As always, such detail and attention. Awesome tones. Great sounding rig! Its easy to see why you have amassed the following that you have. Humble and gracious and kind. Professionalism at its best!
I would love to see another video of Pete at a gig setting up with the sound guy to show the different routing options to amps and console, DI boxes and what not. Really nice work.
I knew you used a DD500. I Bought one after watching this. I'm experimenting with delay and reverb order but intrigued by your additional reverb in front of the amp as well as the Echoplex. Picked up an Echoplex for exactly what you demonstrated here. Best VH sound advice thanks to your dedicated Echoplex video. I'll have to watch again to find out your time based post amp order. Beautiful tones and presets you produce . 👍
This is Amazing Pete. Its awesome how thorough this is, and that you actually use all of it. A lot of players just have big boards to show off, but not you. I love this board and most importantly it sounds great! Have a great trip, I'll be looking forward to pt. 3.
Well that's a really nice board, with capacity to cover a lot of ground. Great work from Dave! I don't think I've seen such a neat piece of work, he certainly didn't spare the good gear underneath either. I know many of us have been following Pete's tone for some years now, myself included. The Archer EQ is awesome just watch the demo done on this pedal with Pete and Steve you will be blown away. Watch that Freqout I know you dig that pedal! Thanks for the input depth demo it just helps us keep tweaking our own tone that little more whether we run a board like this or a rack system. Enjoy Japan!
NIce setup Pete, and these build videos are extremely helpful and fun to watch. You should sell this pedalboard pre-built. I think you have all the tones I need covered! It does look like the Helix and its cousins still aren't ready for primetime in spite of their routing capabilities.
I would LOVE to see a vid of you setting up a couple of patches in real time. How you set up each pedals volume, how you go about setting up main tone, then all the time/mod effects. Please consider making one!!!!!!
Good Luck in Japan Pete. I spent time in Kobe & Kyoto ( my karate sensei is from Kyoto ). Super clean. Nicest people ever. So civilized & respectful. Phenomenal Food. Go visit Kyoto ( if you can ), it is Breathtaking ( shrines & temples & gardens ). Peace brother. Safe travels & Happy Holidays.
Was the shelf a custom job or can I get something similar after market. I have the same Friedman base and I love how you created extra room by floating a few of the pedals
Pete, now that it's been a while, could you publish your pedalboard layout? I saw what you started with, not sure I got all the loops, but am extremely curious what you have now. Love you channel. Thanks.
According to Tim Pierce, who also uses the pedal, it is far easier to program and allows you to input the exact time signature of a song...and it sounds great. If you're into tweaking tone, it allows for far more options.
Former timeline owner here. Switched to dd500 after some shootouts in a mix. Wasn't really even close, the Boss sounds far more "real" than the grainy, almost over processed tone of the timeline. Not only was the boss retaining the natural tone but also stays out of the way a lot better. The timeline does have a couple of really cool settings, but the boss has a better analog and tape sound to my ears and is a thousand times easier to dial in any particular sound.
Revisiting this video. I wonder how much has changed since this was filmed? I did buy the DD-500 immediately after watching this video the first time. Still use it with the MD-500 on almost all my sessions.
Sounds great Pete, the Rockaway into your 3rd channel...really good. Makes me think to put it in the loop on my Helix board... I love the Helix for the effects and having an easy way to play stereo with a real amp but I still try to use some pedals as well....easier to tweak on the fly! Great job man...
Safe travels Pete! Really nice board and build by Dave. I find it interesting that even with the processing power of the Mobius and 2 H9's that you have included an analog Phase 95. I ran into the same thing with my ModFactor. IMO I could never get it to sound even close to a real Phase 90.
So awesome, congrats on the new build! People forget that G2 has extremely limited midi functionality, so I don't think that would have worked very well for Pete.
TheSphericalGuy this is true. I feel dan, at the core, designed the gigrig as a true bypass loop for people, like him (and myself), who love analog stomboxes and highest quality signal fidelity. It’s the perfect solution for those who want to run a germanium fuzz, strymon, 70s ehx pedal, etc etc and not have the associated issues of noise, buffers and so on. Dans specialty is more in power, impedance, buffers, signal path, he never seems to concerned or privy to midi since I don’t think he really uses it much. This is all deduced from watching his vids. I never use midi but I can see Pete’s choice here being better suited for his applications
I have a Talisman for the EP3 pedal thing into the front and just love it. I’ve been trying to decide between getting a Timeline or the DD500. Looks like you you prefer the later. You just saved me $100 bucks too!
Pete! Check out the fb group for the dd 500. The pedal is really amazing with what it can do. I think if people heard what you can really do with it they would be on everyone's board.
Been looking forward to this clip👍 Board looks absolutely awesome! Incredible compact build. Smaller and lighter than previous board right? Got to check out the Friedman pedalboard gear. Thanks for sharing!
I like my G2. The feature i love the most is the simplicity. Once the basic setup is complete, everything is under the fingers. Also, the pre and post switchable buffers with volume. That being said, gearporn!!
Julien Valois Dobbie I also have had a G2 for a couple of years now. I have to agree with you in regards to the buffers with volume. Great method of balancing pedals with different impedances..
Pete, any idea what model the Friedman power supplies are? Would those be the Power Grid 10? Also, would you happen to know what make and size wire you used for all the patch cabling? Thanks Pete, Garry.
Pete, what kind of tape did you use to stick your pedals to the board? Seems they hold in there pretty hard. When i use some double-sided tape it wouldn’t hold as strong. Pedals always move aside.. i hate velcros and cable ties, sticking pedals is the only option (i have a small board with just a few pedals and dont really want to spend extra $200 on a TempleAudio board, though its a good option). Thank you
Pete, great video! I was looking forward to it (as I am now to #3). I really like your Edge and Ethos semi-dirty tones. The new Musicomlab switchers are awesome. I just got one and I like it way better (for reasons I won't mention because I don't want to turn this into a switcher discussion) than the ES-8 I use to have. Thanks for sharing the interesting build, some sounds you crafted with this great board, and for giving us some insights into how to approach crafting some new tones of our own.
I love that you have access to any pedal you want yet choose tried and true MXR & Boss pedals. That tells me quite a lot. There's a few higher priced boxes but in all, very accessible board. nice. seems like solid choices for a gigging traveling guitarist. also, is this designed to go to house and not to a backline? or both
Do you have any tips for achieving unity gain or just sligjt variations when adding different gain stages, delay, reverb, etc? I find that switching so many different pedals on in different combinations can make for unpredictable volume changes. Perhaps it is less of a big deal when playing through 2 high wattage amps, though with a small rig it is quite frustrating.
Hey Pete, what noise gate are you using exactly and are you happy with it still? There is also ISP's decimate mini pedal out as well. Please let me know because i am looking for a noise gate that is small and that doesn color my amps tone like the Boss NS-2 does. Thanks.
Love your new board. I don't know whether it is because I've subscribed to you for way too long on YT or just a coincidence but I have a super close pedalboard to you! I swapped out Mobius for an MD-500 though. Main issue for me is taking it on London public transport for me lately. So, I'm downsizing. I'm either dropping 2nd H9 or the DD-500. Maybe both. Have fun in Japan!
Hi Pete, I want to buy gigrig2 g2 midi switch controller. You are using MusicomLab.Why did you prefer Musicomlab? What are differences between gigrig2 g2 and MusicomLab? Thanks a lot & Regards...
Stayed tune for Pete Thorn's New Pedalboard part 1 in 2023 armed with tractor beams, proton lasers and a built in hologram projector.
hahaha or I'll just be playing uke then
Will Capt. Picard vist Professor Moriarty in that Hologram setup? I hope so ;)
why does he have so many delay pedals?
It's only 3 years away. Better get those uke chops together. :-)
@@Billywagner22 2023 is 9 months away now
Getting closer!
o.k. I am blown away honestly. You attention to detail and how you describe how you structure different sounds is educational and inspiring.
thanks

Pedals are fun! Thanks for the demo of your updated board.
Great sounds and beautiful build! Have a great tour!

The guitar pedal and amps are all sweet choices, and a world of options. Love the phaser. Rock hard Pete.
Pete - Thank you for sharing. This is incredible... Safe travels in Japan.
Can you give us more info on the riser setup that the DD500 and H9s sit on. I think its a really cool feature.
That guitar sounds stellar, even with nothing turned on. Amazing board...great work Dave 🤙
That DD500 sounds so good and smooth with the lead. Great job Pete!
Thanks Pete, safe travels and knock their socks off!
Thank you, Pete!! The new board is SIIIICK. 😎🤙🏼

A work of art. Dave is the man.
Dang.... That Rockaway is the BOMB!!!

That is a sweet pedal board, and so clean.

yeah, like driving up the price of the Hyper Fuzz! :’(
just joking. nice board Pete.

Awesome board man congrats, really enjoyed these 2 parts!! Big fan of urs Pete! Can't wait to see n hear more
Very nice Pete. It sounds great. Hope you enjoy your gig in Japan.
I pretty much got my EFX-MKV because of this video! The size is great, but the features are AMAZING!
Stereo widener. Genius for the clean sound.
+Conaca works on dirty stuff too! The key is to set it just right mix wise, not too much
Gourmet tones.... superb.
Happy trails Pete.
Neat pedalboard! Dan (The GigRig) will love this board too.
I absolutely love the sounds you get from your new pedalboard although it’s too complex for me but definitely very inspiring!
I will wait for the third part pete, excelent demo
Have a nice trip to JAPAN!

Such a sweet board. Definitely making me want to get an effects loop switcher
Sick board
So jelly you get to play in Japan all the time. Living the dream man. I hope I get good enough to do that one day too.
I couldn't believe you guys would fit all that stuff on there. Well done. Love that lead tone pushed by the RA Archer!
Inspiring stuff. Great tones. That board looks great too.
Great work! What cable are you using with the switchcraft and square plugs??
You are still the man, man.
Awesome Pete, I've always been inspired by your pedalboards.
Great size for Max effect. Good luck with the tour.
Pete, would love to see your PT100 settings and speaker. I've had the PT100SE for a while. Love it.
I'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on the DD-500 and how it compares to the Timeline after you've been using it for a while.

Pete, why not go digital with something like Helix for a travel pedalboard?
Safe travels Pete! Really nice board and build by Dave. I find it interesting that even with the processing power of the Mobius and 2 H9's that you have included an analog Phase 95. I ran into the same thing with my ModFactor. IMO I could never get it to sound even close to a real Phase 90.
Some sweet sounds there! Loved the video, great job guys!:)
You get some really nice tones there!
That's a lot of pedals but it is kept super clean. Insane stuff

Agreed, the G2 is obviously a fantastic switcher don't get me wrong. Easy to use and ultra transparent. Different tools for different jobs.

Very cool. Would love to see how it's connected in the system (guitar in, out to amps, loop, etc.)
