I LOVE my ES-5. It's awesome. That's a great board. I use one for global tap tempo and one for the hold function on my BigSky (I set it to latching, so it acts more like a Freeze.)
I wish you had shown some more detail on the cable routing. You made a point in a previous video about not running signal and power cables parallel to each other. I wasn’t able to see how you accomplished this on this board.
I bought 2 step down voltage converters that 1 spot makes because I was pretty bummed that the cs12 didn't let me use all 12 power sockets. With the 2 adapters I get 11 usable power sources all 9v center negative. Who knows, someday I might end up with something that uses that AC jack. That is a pretty stunning build you have there though.

Only thing I have left is an old DeltaLab Chorus pedal. I was only just in the process of starting my board before I stupidly sold my amp (a lovely Fender Frontman 212R) because I had been out of bands a while, was feeling useless because of it and I had some more important stuff I needed money for. Regret it every day.
Seems well built but every time I see a board where the biggest thing on it is a power supply I can't help but feel like there should be a better way... For example, I use a 1-Spot wall wart type supply through which I daisy-chain about 6-7 pedals. Now I realise some pedals require non 9V DC centre negative power, but for the majority of them I'd really rather not have a huge DC bank taking up so much real estate on my board.
Rhett, Thank you for some great videos. Would there be any chance of you making a video, where you discuss pros and cons, on whether to build your own pedal board or rather go for buying a Helix 6 (or similar league)? Perhaps in a dialogue with your friend Beatto. I love my pedalboard with Strymon and Chasebliss pedals and the like. However it does cost a lot to have premium pedals, not to mention carrying the board around. Would appreciate your perspective.
Amazing work. It looks like it will be a real pleasure to use! Question: When building a pedal board, are there any special considerations to make when routing a mix of stereo and mono pedals?
Can you or Jason let us know the brand of contact solution he used to clean the pedal contacts??? Thanks for your time. Great video and great looking board
Looks amazing. I'm getting ready to rebuild my own board, so I'm very hungry for this kind of info. I have a question though. Does the Strymon bridge lift up to let you have full access to the rear row of pedals?
Only to the controls of the pedals, which is why in a switcher, you pretty much have to have all the pedals on and active, as the bridge covers the foot switch. The switcher then acts as a controller, dictating which pedals get used on a preset by preset basis, and with switchers like this, you can assign the pedals in any order.
This bridge, though, is hard-mounted and screwed securely, so it can't be lifted up, and that's actually by the customer's (Rhett's) request. However, "Fix Pedalboards" can have those bridge with hinges, if you're looking for stuff like that, where you want full access to the entire pedal row.
@@TotalEvo7 I got the coolest Fix Pedalboard you ever did see :P It's an awesome metal-flake purple paint baked on with electrolysis (Powder coated I think) onto aerospace grade aluminum with a Bob Bradshaw/MXR MC403 tucked in underneath, with custom made 1/4" patchbays for all the i/o Heavy bugger ;) Dude used to make some killer boards but I think shut down operations for the big boards and now just makes all the weird accessory things.
The only thing not covered was the actual audio routing. Sure the loops off of the MS3 simple enough. But how were the Strymons routed? The Mobius looked to be routed stereo but not the other two? Which appear to be in series also? Or are they each getting one side of the outputs from the Mobius?
This is intense. Personally I need the pedalboard to just be easy to alter. Maybe if I was wealthy and I was going on tour, I'd have a pedalboard locked down for the tour, but otherwise I just want it to be easy for me to change things and experiment because I typically change it up once every month or two. In fact I still gig with Multi effects units (Boss ME-80 and recently the GT-1000) just because of the reliability in a live scenario. No one can tell the difference on the ME-80 and on the GT-1000, I actually can't tell the difference.
Hi Rhett. This is a very helpful video. I just ordered the Dunlop volume pedal for my own board based on your setup here. I noticed your video from 2017 about the Thru-Tone pedal based on the Ernie Ball. I was wondering why you went with the Dunlop for your new board? Was the Thru-tone a bust, or is the Dunlop just a better pedal. Thanks for all of the great videos. Dave
Rhett, another great video ! I'm building a new board for both bass and guitar pedals with an ES-8, so it was really cool to see how you guys did this one. I got some great ideas. Thanks!
This PB looks quite a bit better than the last one. Looks like there needs to be a grommet where the through put underside to protect the cables there. Well done! If you can dig it, having an obsession with aesthetics, can really get out of hand!
Super cool board. I was wondering when I saw the power supply part, why not use Strymon Zuma Power Supply? All 9 outputs are 500ma so you can power anything and wont have to share.
I have a BOSS switcher like that with similar pedals and would love to have the detail of the detailed signal order for inspiration, would you be so kind to share it?

This board is the real deal! Boards like this seperate the boys from the men. Very inspiring, thanks for posting!
Can you also make an ultimate pedal board like this for bass guitars as well?
Subscribed immediately after seeing the video. Still looking for the bids Rhett mentions that he shot for Vertex.
They’re up on the Vertex channel!
I can't find them @@RhettShull. Spent quite a bit of time looking.
I did find the Volume Pedal mod...but not the others.
Amazing work. It looks like it will be a real pleasure to use!
Question: When building a pedal board, are there any special considerations to make when routing a mix of stereo and mono pedals?
Congratulations dude! Looks freakin killer. And sounds whisper quiet. Look forward to hearing more of it in future vids.
thatguitar/amp/pedal studio you were demoing in is a dream.
Looks absolutely killer man. Congrats 👍
Can you or Jason let us know the brand of contact solution he used to clean the pedal contacts??? Thanks for your time. Great video and great looking board
I am curious if the Strymon Bridge has some sort of quick release to able to access the pedals underneath? Beautiful board as well. Thanks
Nice board, great info. Vertex fan.
Great job, very nice board. Why and how did you use the stereo out on the mobius?
It’s not stereo, it’s the Pre-Post feature, so I clan put it anywhere in the chain
that's definitely the coolest way to use it IMO. since it is out of the loop switcher, where in the chain do you have it placed?
@@TotalEvo7 I got the coolest Fix Pedalboard you ever did see :P
It's an awesome metal-flake purple paint baked on with electrolysis (Powder coated I think) onto aerospace grade aluminum with a Bob Bradshaw/MXR MC403 tucked in underneath, with custom made 1/4" patchbays for all the i/o
Heavy bugger ;)
Dude used to make some killer boards but I think shut down operations for the big boards and now just makes all the weird accessory things.
The only thing not covered was the actual audio routing. Sure the loops off of the MS3 simple enough. But how were the Strymons routed? The Mobius looked to be routed stereo but not the other two? Which appear to be in series also? Or are they each getting one side of the outputs from the Mobius?
Awesome vid man. Great board. And love your boots at 17mins. What are they?
Truetone makes18 to 9 volts adapters for the CS12. So you could use those 18V outs and not share a couple 9V ones
This looks stunning!
Dave
cool video. But i was waiting to see how you explain the routing or better the order of your pedals and the midi part.
Wow! Badazz pedalboard!
Rhett, another great video ! I'm building a new board for both bass and guitar pedals with an ES-8, so it was really cool to see how you guys did this one. I got some great ideas. Thanks!
Hey Rhett, when are Mason's technical videos on this pedal board coming out on his channel? I can't seem to find them...
Andy Allen here I am
Great pedalboard!!!! Rhett! Could you tell us the height of riser for strymons??
This PB looks quite a bit better than the last one. Looks like there needs to be a grommet where the through put underside to protect the cables there. Well done! If you can dig it, having an obsession with aesthetics, can really get out of hand!
Super cool board. I was wondering when I saw the power supply part, why not use Strymon Zuma Power Supply? All 9 outputs are 500ma so you can power anything and wont have to share.
Not enough outputs?
That's an awesome pedalboard! Can you please tell us about the chain order?
I have a BOSS switcher like that with similar pedals and would love to have the detail of the detailed signal order for inspiration, would you be so kind to share it?
its great i need to have that kind of vertex pedal board great...
Drooling over that Strymon bridge!
