- My interpretation of this traditional Jamaican condiment. Jamaican Pickled Pepper or Picka Peppa spicy Jamaican Scotch Bonnet Peppers pickled in vinegar with other veggies and spices. Traditionally used with fried fish, it can now be added to any meal for that extra kick!!!

Yes it is!
This man is hilarious
Thank you just want to. Be sure of what I am doing 😉 but I have already made mine couple minutes ago thank you
beautiful!!
If i grate the carrot or choyote will that ruin it?
Just made some. Cant wait to taste. Question .. How long should it marinate before I dig in?
It can be eaten immediately or as long as whenever. The vinegar acts like a preservative.
beautiful.. delicious 😋..
Real deal
damn i need this with my fry fish
Dat look good. I put red and yellow sweet peppers in mine.
Awesome!
I'm about to make this
what was the spice that you use?And is there any alternative of Cho-cho that you can adice?I don`t think I can find it...thank you anyway...it`s a joy to watch and listen!:)
The only spice used was pimento seeds and you could try using zucchini instead of the cho cho
YB, do you have to peel the cho cho? I put it in my rundown with the skin on and it was fine.
John Dough yes you do because you're going to eat it raw. the skin is tougher when it's raw.
Thx
Blessings everytime I will definitely try this recipe, thank you so much.Stay bless and safe.
It looking good 👍 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
My grandmother teach me to make picker in Costa Rica
Is there a purpose in scoring the carrots? Or is it just for the purpose of decoration?
Just for decorations. That's how I saw my momma do it! Lol...
YES love this 🇯🇲👍👌🙏🙏🙏
Thanks much
👍 will try it! Do not have to put it in the fridge? SHOULD the vinegar full up the bottle? 😊
Yes, correct
I will be making this
Tag me in the finish ok
How long do you let it process/ferment before opening it?
You can open it right away, But the longer it stays it's the better it's going to be... The color will start to go brown but it's still good it's just the brine bleeding the veggies and the all spice berries.
A canele knife is best to make the design for the carrots, therefore no risk of cutting your hands
Christophene/chiote
Carrots
Onion
Scotch bonnet pepper
All Spice
3 cups vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
beautiful!
Thanks!!
Carrot dem cute bad dada😉
Did you cook any of the vegetables in the vinegar or not
No you don't cook the veggies at all
How much of each ingredient did you use?
sue Whitfield depending on your container. I used 2 carrots 1 onion and 1cho cho the peppers was about 3 to 4 and as much pimento seed as you want.
Is it alrite if I put it in the refrigerator to store??
sure It can be refrigerated
How long will it take to be ready to use?
Almost immediately however the longer it stays the better it gets
Hello,
How long can this store for?
Thanks!
This can go for months! It really last long and gets hotter too
Foreign carrots...Lol.. I love this stuff but it looks like it will be too spicy. Thanks for the video, I didn't know you can store it in jars..God bless
Just cut down on the peppers. You can make it without the extra peppers...
Yardie Belly TV ....Well thank you
Nice xx 💙
How long can you keep it in the jar for
Up to 2 months is good. It can go longer in the fridge
Why does my pickle has a sour taste? Did i add too lil of something or too much?
The pickle should have a vinegary taste but the peppers should be strong and the herbs or pimentos should be strong too! You can boil the vinegar a little to reduce the level of acidity!
Chayote called christophene
Definitely scotch bonnet peppa
Great video. I didn't know sugar is added to the vinegar. Please confirm this.....
Some people ad a little sugar but it's purely up to you! Nothing is wrong with adding some to it.
Does it have to be granulated sugar?
❤️❤️❤️
where do you get the jars at
You can find jars almost anywhere! Try target or Walmart
You can also use old spaghetti sauce jars. That's what I do.
I like scotch bonnet for flavour
I love the heat!
What type of jar did you use?
The masonry jars at Walmart with the sealed lids is good
Yardie Belly TV ok thanks
love picka peppa
Hello, could you write up the recipe and instructions. Tk
It's supper easy. Add all the veggies I used in the video to the bottle and pour warmed vinegar over it. !
hi Yardie they look like Scotch bonnet peppers but they're not from Jamaica the Bonnet pepper is the real Jamaican Scotch bonnet and those Peppers that you get in the supermarket are not as hot but it will work irie mon
Boy dem peppers real hot you know!! I just love my pepper sauce though I have it on everything!! Even soup!! LOL
Haberno and scotch bonnet look really similar. How do you tell the difference?
Scotch bonnet is a little bigger and much harder to find.
I find they look the same but taste different. I find either one at most stores but rarely both
For your information habanero is scotch bonnet
For your information they are not the same.
it's looks beautiful but chef can I use something instead of cho cho? maybe cucumber?
Shar Barnett yes you can! cucumbers, zucchini, turnips, string beans, beets, all of these can be pickled.
Why ms wife asking if she is the wife you refer to lol 😆
👍
That cough though 😊 help me Jesus woieee
Hi, can you put in garlic
Garlic isn't a traditional ingredient as it changes the flavor totally
I put it in. Tastes wonderful.
You cyaan dig ah spoon in dat and get a bit of every ting.
Not scotch bonnet.
Habanero it are.
Good video, but get rid of the crappy Iphone!!! subscribed!
