I bought an eBay shifter from China - very similar to the B&M and lost the lower circlip in my exhaust covers, it took a while to find it but we did eventually. Worthwhile mod, its a pity the carrier moves as much as it does.
Seems like lever is facing forward. Do you have it backward? The bend in the lever usually goes to rear.... Might just be the camera angle. And to get the plastic cup out of the carrier, put two slotted screwdrivers in the slots in the top and rotate it out. Super easy.
Lol, sooo many wine vouchers as I’ve rebuilt my car. I remember struggling with those washers on my DSSR, I honestly can’t remember if I actually installed both or gave up 🤷🏽♂️ Whatever, love the way it feels.
@@M3NACE for real! I had to do mine after doing the manual conversion because I had that popping out of gear problem and I had to rule everything out. It ended up being the transmission and I had to swap all of it out a third time, but I feel like a pro at removing and installing e36 transmissions, lol.
I bought one of those ebay SS kits. Did you ever run into problems with actually getting the knob back on? Im fully aware how you're supposed to do it, it just wont seat. i tried 4 different knobs. By the way, i followed your manual swap guide, i got it done. Cant thank you enough.
Of course man! Ive never had an issue with the knobs not seating properly, never had an ebay SSK though. If you think the ID of the shifter is too tight you could always file it down a bit with a file or some sandpaper and see if you can get it to snap in.
duuuude where was this a week ago! I had a garagistic DSSR while I was doing my driveshaft center support and it was actually too short for my car (like an actual defect on their part) :/ can i install a new DSSR with the DS and exhaust in?
@@itsBlack I double triple checked that I bought the right one by comparing PNs using realOEM. What I think it was my solid shifter bottom bushing being too thick. Once I did get it in I couldnt get into gears 2/4. so it was a genuine defect. for now just running a solid shifter with hella play :/
Pain in the a$$ doing this with everything in the car but so worth it afterwards
yeah fr lol
In the famous words of Borat “Very nice!”
Great Success!
Good evening Quinn buddy awesome installing a short shifter in Alex’s bmw nice now he can bang through those gears ⚙️ 😃👍 😊

They do feel very nice, crisp and firm shifts

Yeah true.
You know the throw is short when 4th gear looks like neutral

Yeah they are much easier to install with the driveshaft and exhaust out of the way

Yup! We did this without removing the exhaust and driveshaft.
Do you have a ZF or Getrag tranny. Most dssr are made for ZF which uses a shorter rod

@@M3NACE thanks for the quick reply man!! love seeing yall rip and youve helped me do so much for my e36s, keep killing it on the uploads
Is it correct that swapping the shifter of a 323 with a 328 will give a shorter shift? Kind of a oem short shifter swap?
Ive heard of people running Z3 shifters, but not 323 shifters.
