I actually like to keep track of calories too, I know it's not popular and can be quite triggering, but for me personally I like to have parameters and helps me be more mindful of portion size. Also I can tell if I'm eating more for a certain reason like tiredness or stress that kind of thing. I like how you touch on ultra processed foods, my god the impact on our brains is insane. The amount of science that goes into making ultra processed foods hyper palatable is so crazy, I did my whole PhD on this. 😘😘
Yeah, I think it's a personal choice~ different methods work for different people. OMG! I would love to read your thesis on that! I wish I knew more about this field before choosing my major in college.

Lena, I loved this video! I highly understand. I am learning this as well that our bodies are different. Some of us have allergies to certain foods, anything! I am one who has a many things I am allergic too or need to stay away from due to other health issues. For example, I will say I have acid reflux and I am lactose intolerant. That is not all. However, I know that with the many issues I go through, certain things are non debatable. I say no to them. Also, it is true that we all have different food tastes. There are many factors contributing to our way of eating. Also, I would love for you to turn your current training schedule into a free program! I am highly interested!

I hate when people try to tell other people that their diet is wrong! Obviously I feel like we are all aware that eating takeout 24/7 is not good, but other than that. Do you really feel the need to go under other people's videos and comment about "how wrong their diet is" without even knowing their physical needs?? She's giving IDEAS, not what you should eat. I was chubby as a teen and I always thought I had to do something extreme to get lean. As someone with terrible genes (pre diabetic and metabolic inflexibility aka it’s hard for my body to burn fat because it prefers to store fat) I want to show people that you don’t have to do anything extreme to get lean and become the best version of yourself! F**k eating disorders and fad diets. F**k limiting mindset beliefs! But please get professional help if you are still dealing with ED because it’s more of a psychological disorder. A very serious one. I know someone who died from anorexia in her 20s.

Love your videos, especially your yoga workout videos. I don't track calories but I try to keep an eye on them sometimes. Like if I go out to eat I usually stay away from the meals that are super high calorie. I'm trying to work on eating less processed food bc I got carried away eating junk during the pandemic and have gained some lbs. I know diet is the most important thing to losing weight so I'm trying to stay away from fast food bc I ate it way too much.
Thank you for doing those yoga videos with me~ yeah, I think everyone has a different method of "portion control". Some people are blessed with being very in tune with their hunger cues... some people eat the same things over and over again... and others eyeball stuff. I feel you. I live with someone who is completely addicted to fast food. I got really bad migraines from a particular fast food place we were getting stuff from regularly during the pandemic... and then I found out they put MSG in their food. So, I made a choice not to eat there anymore~ good luck on your journey!
@@_lenasnow yes my brother is really good with his hunger cues, like he stops when he's full and doesn't over eat or under eat. Whenever I restrict like the person you mentioned that only ate an apple for breakfast and then binges at lunch, I overeat too. Definitely trying to find a healthy balance and pay more attention to how my stomach feels. Also if I watch TV when I eat I tend to over eat
I think you should definitely make the new program based on your goals! I'm gonna check out Metabolical, it sounds really interesting (I also have a degree in politics :P). I'm curious about your decision to have a relatively low protein percentage in your diet, I've just always heard other trainers say we should eat A LOT of it like 100+ grams? Great video 😄sad that there's so much negativity around other people's diets sheesh :/
Thank you so much for letting me know that! My protein target should be sufficient for someone my size... I based it off my weight, but I might adjust it higher if my next dexa scan shows that I didn't successfully gain lean mass at the current target. Indeed, for someone who is bigger in size with hypertrophy goals, my personal target would not be enough. When I eat "intuitively" so to speak, I tend not to eat much protein. So, hitting that protein target consistently is definitely something I need to work on. Yeahhh, the book is mindblowing!! Highly recommend. What do you do now for work? Law? Or...?

I'm starting to think my protein goal might be too high for my size as well, I pretty much always have to use powder supplements which isn't totally my ideal 🤔I just graduated actually so I'm still looking for work (and ugh it's so irritating and difficult?? lol) but my interest is environmental/climate/science policy and lately in health (human and environmental!) :) ideally I'd combine both of my degrees and be a bridge between scientists and politicians to make sure everyone is speaking the same "language" 💜 thanks so much again for the reply!

After graduating... it was so hard for me to find work, I ended up interning at a law firm (in their defense, they do a lot of pro bono work) while living off the remainder of my student loans. When my bank account was getting close to 0... I knew I had to do something about it lol. Ended up working at a car dealership... which turned out to be the coolest and pretty fun job I've ever had up to that point. Can't imagine how much worse it is for you guys who graduated around the pandemic. Wish you good luck! 💜

That tdee calculator when I set it to activity of sedentary my weeks to goal is 55 weeks when I set it to work out 5 days a week it changes my goal to 99 weeks. The one thing that I noticed was just how many calories were in such little amounts of food especially foods based on meat, dairy, and sugar.

Sometimes the more you know the less you know. It mean it is great that we all have access to informations but there are so many different opinions and informations that at some point one can be really lost. I personally think sometimes it might help to step back from all that for a moment and try to just listen to your own body. Learn to distinguish between real hunger and appetite and that is actually difficult enough. Btw. I love these reese buttercups too but don't buy them 'cause I inhale them. What I found for me instead is Lindt 90% cacao mild chocolate.
Yeah... Reese's are the best freaking tasting stuff in the world. I tend to inhale them, too 🤭 And yasss... Lindt makes the best bars. I love their 100% unsweetened version. Have your tried Montezuma? I think it is a British brand. They make 100% dark chocolate with almonds... they are pretty amazing, too~ #truth about getting lost in the mountain of information. For a while, I always thought my college education was useless after I graduated... but in many ways, I think I learned how to filter out the biases and false information somewhat well... but I always question myself and try not to jump to conclusions too quickly~

Boosting my booty while loosing body fat is my goal but honestly it’s not easy and simple. I am gaining more foods and protein to build lean muscles but I am gaining more fat too 😭

I don't track carbs or fats... only calories and protein. Also, I'm not sure if I will reach my goal with this strategy yet. I'm in the trial and error phase... so I'll update you guys when I find out 😊
0:36 sadly, the minority are now the healthy ones, and the majority online are obese so you're bound to get a ton of hate, and hate watchers, being healthy trying to better yourself (which should always be praised) - sad world in the west.

I personally think sometimes it might help to step back from all that for a moment and try to just listen to your own body. Learn to distinguish between real hunger and appetite and that is actually difficult enough. Btw. I love these reese buttercups too but don't buy them 'cause I inhale them. What I found for me instead is Lindt 90% cacao mild chocolate.
Yeah... Reese's are the best freaking tasting stuff in the world. I tend to inhale them, too 🤭 And yasss... Lindt makes the best bars. I love their 100% unsweetened version. Have your tried Montezuma? I think it is a British brand. They make 100% dark chocolate with almonds... they are pretty amazing, too~
#truth about getting lost in the mountain of information. For a while, I always thought my college education was useless after I graduated... but in many ways, I think I learned how to filter out the biases and false information somewhat well... but I always question myself and try not to jump to conclusions too quickly~

I don't track carbs or fats... only calories and protein. Also, I'm not sure if I will reach my goal with this strategy yet. I'm in the trial and error phase... so I'll update you guys when I find out 😊
