Texas Trout Fishing - Even some on the Dry Fly!

I was able to go down to the Guadalupe river to trout fish here in Texas. I had a great time fishing with Roger and we caught quite a few trout. Including two really nice ones while nymphing. We also got a few little stocker trout on the dry fly which was fun. No matter if we caught fish or not though, it still was a great time on a beautiful river. The weather is finally starting to cool down here in Texas so it is bearable to be outside again.

can you give a brief description on your set up? leader to indicator to splitshot to tippet to first fly to second fly? i am just getting started in fly fishing and would like to learn more about nymphing and streamers and midges etc. Thansk!

Well all that depends on where you fish. In this instance for nymping I used an airlock indicator, a 7’5” 5x tapered leader with a short 1’ 5x tippet tied to it, my first fly was a heavy weighted fly (changed throughout fishing) but a perdigon works well, then dropped a 6x tippet on the back to a small unweighted fly like a pheasant tail. I’ve got a few videos describing nymphing techniques in full. Hard to explain on this. Check out some of the videos I made on the San Juan river for nymphing

You were in some places the bride and I fished when we lived in Texas. We used to camp at Rio, Huaco Springs and L&L. We parked and fished a few times at the dam. Good times.
