  • Back in November 2023, SUFFOCATION toured North America with INCANTATION, SKELETAL REMAINS, and STABBING on their Ancient Unholy Uprising Tour. Marta, who was conducting her first interview as part of the MKK team, had the privilege of chatting with Terrance Hobbs of SUFFOCATION just before the show in Toronto, Ontario at Lee's Palace. We talked about their new album, Hymns from the Apocrypha, which is the band's first album to officially feature vocalist Ricky Myers, and more!

This has probably been said for 20 years by now. Not gonna happen, he's fully retired, he's a family guy now, with a regular day job. Would be nice to have Doug or Guy back, but they're doing fine in the guitar department with Charlie, too. Besides, Charlie pulls off Doug's solos on the old songs live, something that Guy never bothered to do. His writing is good, and it shows on the new album - most of the songs were co-written by him and two were fully written by him. Actually, his writing style is very reminiscent of Doug's, unlike Guy's, who pretty much wore his Pyrexia and Internal Bleeding past on his sleeve (not that it's a bad thing, it made Blood Oath a very interesting album). The dudes I really miss are Mike and Kevin (matter of a fact, it saddens me that Kevin ended up not contributing to any album of theirs, he's probably THE tightest death metal drummer out there and his fills are really something). No offense to Eric, he's a great drummer, but Mike and Kevin are truly perfect for the band.

@@Admiral_Bongo+1 - Kevin Talley is my favorite death metal drummer as well! I've listened to albums from multiple different bands and I still remember each time I kept finding out it was this same guy. His drumming is so good that I kept looking up who the hell was drumming to find out it was Kevin!
