- A new live album from Suffocation is set to be unleashed, titled Live In North America; the album is a first-class example of why Suffocation is one of the premier extreme metal groups in the biz. Throughout the chat, we talk about the live album, Terrance's memories of working with death metal super-producer Scott Burns, the dire state of the media and politics in the United States, memories of former bandmates and much more. Overall, a great conversation with one of the most important figures in extreme metal history!
It warms my heart knowing Hobbs has a brain. Not many musicians we can look up to now. Hes one of the few.
Pierced from within!!! Love Terrance and as a black man myself who loves extreme, death, thrash, groove, stoner and doom metal, I have always followed them!
Color don't matter to me your good or bad terrace is good Hirax has been one of my favorites since the mid 80s and Katon is a superior dude and more metal then metal
Terrance is an absolute legend, a total badass. I put him right up there with Trey from Morbid Angel and Rob from Immolation. Love the podcast!🤘
Thx for the kind words mate!
And with Dimebag even. Just as effortless.
He has inspired me to play guitar, over the years, I'm originally a drummer, what an amazing guy
Greatest guitarist ever and a truly inspiring and cool guy!
Back in the day at Milwaukees Metal Fest got to have a few beers with Hobbs, he's very cool, down to earth, was a great experience to meet him
Suffocation are amazing. Saw them with Cryptopsy in 2005. Awesome show.
Sucks that this band didnt get more clout, compared to other bands at the time, suffocation was fucking unrivalled imo.
Way more brutal compared to deicide and cannibal corpse, and just as techy as athiest and death, as well as all the musicians being just as good if not BETTER than their counterparts.
Doug and terrence are fucking virtuosic compared to the hoffmans or CC, and chris richards bass playing imo topped Webster's and digiorgios, fast complicated riffs played with the fingers, and he fucking killed it everytime, hell even smiths drumming was unrivalled, yet pete sandoval gets more clout?? not to mention franks vocals, which in a year like 1991 were by far the most brutal. Put up against dave vincents, or barnes, nah man, absolute fucking carnage
Suffocation are criminally underrated, and i will say this untl my last day on earth, compared to CC and morbid angel, this band makes them sound like a fucking church choir. And yet they dont seem to get anywhere near as much love as the rest, maybe they were ahead with their sound? Idk... i Just hope in the future that changes.
Man i fucking love this band.
Your interviews are excellent dude, you're a real one!! Thanks for doing these \m/ \m/
Thx mate, there's a lot more I'd like to interview. Mike Davis from Nocturnus would be killer!
Mike Smith didn't play on Pierced From Within - that was Doug Bohn.
Their recording at Brutal Assault is unbelievably good, it's so tight and I constantly have to remind myself that it's live
I just came accross this. Awesome interview with a legend. Subbed.
The new live album sounds killer! i wished they would have done a live blu-ray or dvd also, Great interview!
Yeah, waited forever for that DVD they were supposedly making years ago but now it will sadly never see the light of day I guess :( I still buy DVDs the same way I still buy albums, I'm a dying breed ;)
@@Sean-fv4wi Yeah i remember seeing the trailer for it. i still buy dvds to man i'm a huge horror movie collector.
Thank´s for this PODCAST is pretty SICK!
Well done greetings from TEXAS!
Going to catch Suffocation again real soon in Cardiff, train strikes permitting 🙄😁
Great interview.
Cool guy, smart questions too.
This is smart man and very very underrated guitar player
Nice vid...but can't believe there is a band photo without Frank in it at the beginning?!!??!?! Why??!!!!
Probably because he’s left the band?
@@DOPAMINErgic66 you obviously don't understand the point mate
@@joeblogs4645 I believe I do based off how many more upvotes I have than you mate
Right on. FJB!
Legend
May be an unpopular opinion but I prefer Closing of a Chapter to the new live album. Both are fantastic for their own reasons tho.
Fantastic
Based Hobbs

lol, such an unoriginal and meaningless comment (some asshat says the same thing about every artist on every you tube video). Congrats for being a sheep.
Maybe in the complete discussion of guitar players in general, but def not underated in the underground.
>death metal godfather
>Mixed race
>All American
>Huge stoner
Yeah I'm thinking he's down as fuck. I need to get high with Uncle Terrance like, now.
Portal is amazing.
