I was thinking about looking at the 2020 or 2021 Versa. Reminds me of my current ride-a 2016 Nissan Sentra S 6-spd manual. Unfortunately when Nissan redesigned the Sentra they killed the manual transmission option with it(CVT only). The Versa is only other vehicle in Nissan’s lineup with a manual transmission option (the other being the Z). Trying to find an Electric Blue one. Most of the dealers in my area have grey,Super Black or Silver Ice,and the majority of those have that infernal CVT. Found one on AutoTrader.com brand new for sale around $11,995 near Christiansburg,VA. I’m gonna have to go look at it when I get the chance.
I had to dealer trade for both of mine since my local dealer didn't have a manual. $11995 is even cheaper than I got my second one for and I thought it was an amazing deal at $12500. We only have a $200 doc fee though. I think in Va it's like $799 or something crazy like that. It's a super cool car. I'd recommend one to anybody.
Yeah, manuals will always have less issues, if any, while automatics with CVT's will malfunction eventually while more commonly and that's when the problems arrive. Too bad for the majority of drivers out there who are too closed minded to want to learn a very simple skill such as manual shifting in which may benefit them in terms of vehicle reliability and vehicle price.
I would recommend this car to anybody, it's way better than it needs to be. The 5 speed bit me when I firt got it because i tried to shift into 6th gear - which is reverse. GRIND! @@jamievidd775 I have quotes in hand for 12933 and 12795 for a manual. This includes the $1000 rebate currently available. It looks like the price has gone up for the 2020 vs 2019 and before. I think it is a nicer and bigger car than the 2019 and has front and rear automatic braking which is a nice bonus, in my opinion and unheard of in this price of vehicle. Don’t buy one of these Nissans,or any Nissan for that matter. I bought a Versa s manual 2021 and after just 8k miles the engine is failing. The dealership said it’s most likely the head gasket that failed. The oil gas cap is getting super cake like with milk appearance. The car has been red flags since the day I bought it. Oil leaked from engine, door handles that didn’t work and even a few safety warning lights malfunctioning. I really regret ever buying the Versa. People do not buy a Nissan!!! And what’s funnier is Nissan denied anything was seriously wrong with it. I said so it’s normal for the engine to be leaking oil all over it shelf brand new? Give me a break. Glad I bought a new Corolla and can now move on from this mistake
The mechanic said wait until it becomes obvious so I could get the new engine replacement I watched your videos before I bought the Versa because I like the manual. You can get mad at me but these cars have always been super unreliable cars. It’s a fact. Why do u think Nissan is going out of business. It’s because the quality is not there simply put.
Also I have had to take the brand new Versa in on many occasions and the Nissan dealers try to make it seam it’s minor because they lose money having to fix these cars free. And I believe they don’t want anything really documented. Then they would have to do recalls. Now when the car only had like 500 miles with oil leaking around the head they denied seeing any leaks. But it was clear the oil was all over the engine. Now recently they could not deny anything this time because now stuff is mixing in the oil. It’s so sad how the do business and treat customers. Just own up to the mistakes and make it better but they won’t.
@@jasonmazzuca677 Sorry to hear you got a bad car. It happens with all manufacturers, not just Nissan. It is surprisingly quiet for an economy car and it handles very well.
What kinda range are you getting from a full tank of gas? And is that hwy driving or mixed driving?
I go about 400 on a full tank, give or take. See my other reply for type of driving details/
I’m tall - trying to gauge if I’d fit being 6’3”.
Wondering the same thing. Im about the same height and skinny but I have a carseat I'd have to put in the back as well
Maybe not, im 6ft and I have like 2in of room
i dont remember if you mentioned it, but what rpm does it sit at 60mph or 80 mph?
It's pretty high, like maybe around 3400 at 70, but it's not buzzy. Sound insulation is good.
4000 at about 85
I've been getting a solid 26.8mpg and last month or two 27...I'm guessing I need to stop loving thos rpm to get better mpg right? Or am I just not getting good mpg?
That sounds about right for spirited driving. I get in the mid 20s when I drive shorter trips in the city and up to 40 on the highway taking it easy.
Hello. I just bought one "used" with 1700 miles. What's your latest update? How many miles you have now? Mines starting to get a 1st gear whine.
I jsut hit 4000 on my new one. The 1st gear whine is a characteristic of the transmission and not a problem. I had a couple other people ask me about that too.
@@youtoobe169 thanks for the reply. I got nervous about it.
Can you make an updated video on your versa?
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to put one together over the next few days.
Thanks again for the suggestion. I just uploaded an update video.
Does it worth it?
Does the prices cost less than it should or more than it should?
Do you want another car?
Anything more you want from this car?
Does the driving feels good or bad?
Yes, I would recommend this car. It is a very nice car, fun to drive, and good value.
You should be able to buy new for about $13000 now
Go bargain. Prior gen commonly sold under 10 grand. This is do able under 11.
@@djkenny1202 Where in the world can you find one for $11K? I got my 2nd one for $12500 and I am pretty sure it doesn't get any better than that. Please let me know dealer and salesperson name where you can get for $11K. And I don't mean one that says " $11K, plus destination, $999 dealer fee, $399 this fee, $499 that fee, etc.
youtoobe169 anyone should know, Tax-Title-License is all to pay beyond final negotiated price. These are loss leaders, and it is common to buy over 3 grand below MSRP. $12500 is not Bad, but my neighbor (after I prepped him for end of year in 2020) got his for $11500. He is still really happy with it.. obviously with added features and updates, we cannot get those for $9000 range like the prior gen. Those were also sold so cheap!
Wow great review. This Nissan looks and sounds like a joy to drive! How has it held up so far any issues?
Thanks, it really is fun to drive! No issues. It seems like a well built car.
@@youtoobe169 super thanks for the information and reply. Ps that looks like a fun road to drive on a daily basis 😇
These have kind of flooded the market. If you want a Versa buy this one, not the CVT. Although I guess most CVT shoppers likely won't be interested in a manual
You still like your versa
I sold all 3 of my Versas but I am trying to get another one. They are hard to come by these days. I liked them a lot.
My dream car! Does it come with a Bluetooth?
Yes it does, and Siri eyes free. It works well.
Also what are the rpms at say 80mph
Next time I am out on the highway I will try to remember to check that out. It's probably around 3K
@@youtoobe169 yeah man def let me know. I have been very tempted to buy one spec just like yours. I bought the original versa new in 2010. Loved t hat car
How is the versa holding up?
It's doing great! I haven't had any issues with it. Seems like it will last a long time.
Location?
As long as one can get a base manual under 12 grand after discounts and incentives, this will be a real score for value. I almost bought an end of year 17 base model for $9500 new, but decided on a 4 year old Scion XB manual with 32k for similar OTD price. It felt like a higher quality and more responsive car.
Did you buy it here in the US??
Yes, it's available at any US dealer. If they don't have one on the lot, they can most likely get one for you.
Thanks for this
I just bought one..yes manual transmission.
Congrats on your purchase! Enjoy in good health!
getting a quote for 14500 in California ...Is it too much ?
I've heard cars are always more expensive in CA. Try to push for $14K and see what they say.
You can get a manual S for $13K in CA if you bargain.
If it had CarPlay it would be a no brainer for me.
Thank you, now I know what car to get next year. Bye bye corolla
Richard Favreau yes, I do prefer the versa because it’s cheaper and it comes in a manual transmission and I know that corollas also comes in manual but they are so difficult to get, well at least here in LA.
Cool video. I owned a 1979 colt and a 1981 Colt turbo.
Your Versa has the steel wheels?
Have you thought of adding aluminum wheels sometime?
I think the steel wheels with cheap looking hubcaps adds to the charm of this car. I really liked my '86 Colt. Those were good cars.
VTEC just kicked in yo!
Something like that!
Too bad they couldn't add a 6th gear. An Accent 6spd manual if you can grab one discounted to about $15K makes a stronger buy.
I think the 5 gears adds to some of the old school charm. I'm probably in the minority. I just bought a second one for $12500 including the rebates. I made a quick vid about it.
How much are you paying after fees and tax?
I have owned 3 of these new - cheapest was $13700 during the worst of the pandemic and most was $18000 during the car shortage for my '21
@@youtoobe169 thanks for the reply! I've been watching all of your vids. I paid about 21,302 out the door for my 2022 after Tax & title, transportation fee,Gap coverage, doc fees. GA tax alone was $1250. Did I overpay? I'm seeing used ones go for close to what I bought new.
Also they had a used 2021 with 40k miles on the lot for $18,000
@@dbaKen What trim level did you get? Mine is the cheapest you can get.
@@youtoobe169 yeah I got the 2022 Versa S Manual. Gap coverage was 1000 , tax was 1250 , tag and title was 100 , doc fee is 599 , transportation fee was 959.
Wish Nissan made a NISMO version of the Versa. Turbo the heck out of it LOL
Yeah, would be like an SRT-4 Neon!
@@youtoobe169 I mean, Nissan made the Sentra SR Turbo and Nismo Turbo a little while back. Wish they could continue making that car along with a turbo version of this one as well.
It has the annoying rev hang doesnt it
Not at all
Any rattles or squeaks?
Not at all. It is surprisingly solid.
Does it have Apple CarPlay?
It has Siri Eyes Free, but not Apple Carplay on the S
This car can't be had under $14k anymore in CA and I'm sad.
I just paid full sticker for my latest one.
Nice daily car!! So you can have GT R for fun!
Get a sv and up it’s wayyyyyy better but s isn’t bad either but I wish mine was a manual
The S was the only choice for me because I wanted a manual, but the S has a lot for the money.
@@youtoobe169 it definitely does the s is actually pretty good I like the sv because of the little quirks it has to it such as the digital gauge cluster and extra detail to design in the interior and etc
Where’s the radiator
In front of the engine behind the front bumper
@@youtoobe169 I’ve one for a few months and I only see a resivour
First you say the dealer said it's a head gasket and then you said they said nothing wrong. Which is it?
The mechanic said wait until it becomes obvious so I could get the new engine replacement
I watched your videos before I bought the Versa because I like the manual.
Make sure you document everything with videos and pictures and when you take it to the dealership make sure they put exactly what you say on the RO. My advice? Sell to Carvana. They are paying over $19K for a '21 Versa S Manual. You can actually make a profit on it.
It happens too much with Nissan
