One of the only videos on RUclips about this car that actually shows it and talks about the car. Thanks for the vid and I hope I can get a 23’ manual sometime soon!
Your review is one of the few on RUclips for the newer manual-transmission Versas, and probably the best overall review for the model. If you're new to manual transmissions, you'll grow to enjoy the lack of "rev-hang" that you noted at 6:18, since most new manual-equipped cars (including sports cars) have some rev-hang built in for emissions purposes and it tends to hinder smooth up and down shifting. Thanks again for the great review, I ended up purchasing my own 5-speed "S" Versa after watching your channel.
Yep, totally agree with you that the manual transmission is no big deal. It only requires getting used to it and developing some muscle memory. Of course when in the city with the hectic traffic it can be not comfortable at first, but after a couple of months your brain doesn't even think about it. And if you drive on the country roads or highways a lot, you simply shift to 4th or 5th gear and forget about it.
I was reading the owner's manual for shifting these cars and it said for normal acceleration to shift at the following speeds for each gear. 1st 9mph, 2nd 12mph, 3rd 21mph, 4th 28 mph, 5th And for quick acceleration 1st 15mph, 2nd 25mph, 3rd 40mph, 4th 45 mph, 5th And then it said not to exceed the maximum suggested speeds for each gear. 1st 28mph, 2nd 52mph, 3rd 76mph, 4th 104mph, 5th.
This is exciting! I just got myself a 2020 nissan versa sv. i'm a toyota person but i think I dropped the gun too fast and this is what i ended up leaving the lot with, lol i'm grateful though, its the perfect car for me. all glory to god! I like watching these kind of videos. i have videos of my car on my channel as well :)
I got a 2024 Versa last week and it's the first manual I've ever driven. I'm a little more confident now tho. Also, have you ever had a problem with downshifting?
What kind of difficulty you are having with downshifting? Slow the car down before downshift. Under 20 miles: shift down to 2nd. 20 to 30 miles: shift down to 3rd. Downshift to 1st: 5 miles or lower.
Do you still have your Versa? I'm curious if your car has a slight whirring noise from the throwout bearing while in neutral at idle that disappears with the clutch in. I think this is normal for our cars, I just want to see if another 5mt owner has the same thing going on.
I have a 2015 Versa S 5 speed manual and I love it. I am thinking about upgrading to a new one in the not too distant future but I am in no hurry because my current one still runs great.
If you love it, trade up! The equity you have now in your 2015 is totally worth the upgrade. I am in the process of trading mine up because I love mine so so so much! I am gonna miss my hatch though
Trying to decide between a Versa and an Accent. My son has CP and can't drive a stick but handles an auto ok. I worry about the CVT and short warranty compared to the Accents 10 year warranty and doesn't use a JATCO tranny
I've heard rev hang was quite bad with these cars and not what you said about the RPMs dropping really fast. From what I understand one wants the RPMs to drop fast if you like shifting fast for performance driving. I drove stick for 8 years and about 160,000 miles. I can't remember what it was like, it's been since around 1995. I'll just have to take one for a test drive and find out for myself.
I have to ask.. I've driven manuals for 20 years and I've never heard rev hang. Mostly cause I've had older cars. But is what I'm hearing here normal or are you slower on the clutch?
To rev match in new versa it helps to keep a steady rpm and don't let foot up off gas when hitting clutch and lightly press gas more instead of a blip, heel-toe is near impossible with depth distance of gas pedal and brake
I eventually got it nailed down with time. Just doesn’t have auto rev match like some newer cars and my opinion is my new to me 2004 Mustang Mach 1 - 5 speed is easier to drive than the Versa was lol.
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 they may or may not tell you. They might just say that they’re out sourced. As long as it’s not a CVT it’s probably a good transmission.
@@dbaKen NISSAN will tell me who makes these manual transmission. Personally I ain't impressed with the manual, too much rev hang. gearbox sometimes locks up changing gears. I wanted a Honda manual or Toyota manual, but I wasn't waiting 4 to 6 months for order delivery.....
It does good. Its comfortable and handles the road quite nice for how small it is! Steering is good , plenty of power to get up to speed , and road bumps aren’t as bad as I thought they would be compared to a my old Toyota Yaris. 35+ miles per gallon on highway depending on how you drive.
Check out the '99 altima 5 speed , I drove one for a bit and it had a solid ride also OEM strut bar up front . It was much more fun than the modern stuff .
I am sure that's a MUCH better engine than a Hyundai for long term use, LOTS of those have engine issues, fires, etc. H has been replacing those engines like people change their socks!!
The radio on this model has the android auto? The cruise control is workimg fine the manual transmission?? I wanna get this car the next year but i cant find the info im looking for, dont step a stealership until do the purchase...
this is awesome love these versa especially w/5-spd manual, I still regret buying the CVT. if you're going to buy the CVT spec you're going to need the extended powertrain warranty, bcuz when CVT starts having issues you're going to be wishing you had the extended powertrain warranty. it's very expensive to rebuild and replace $5K.
These modern CVT transmission are decent, just change your transmission fluid when owners manual required miles driven and you should be alright.......

How many switchblade key fobs did you get with the car? The 2023 has no fobs. They dropped the push button/proximity key for 2022

its to get better fuel economy to meet government regulations

Do the back seats fold down on the versa s manual 5 speed? The dealership didn't have a manual on the lot to check.
