Literally "in the closet" panic attack. That's what I got from that scene in hindsight. I'm presently revisiting your Bly Manor reactions and loving every moment.
I got the feeling the kids were scared for her and that's why they locked her in the closet like something might hurt her for kicking the doll. Great reaction guys hope you keep doing this together.
They were protecting her from the lady in the lake, when Flora puts the doll under the cupboard the lady is under the water, in the lake, when danni kicked the doll the doll wasn’t under the cupboard meaning the lady was out of the lake and flora and miles realised danni was about to walk out of the room where she could have walked into the path of the lady of the lake and been killed just like they saw what happened to peter. So they locked her in the wardrobe to keep her safe when she got out the doll was back under the cupboard. Earlier when danni took the doll from under the cupboard flora said, that one stays there.
Maybe the doll under the dresser means that the ghost lady/whatever doesn't live in the house but outside in the pond.? So, under the dresser is like under the water in the pond and when it was in the middle of the floor, then the little girl knew that the 'ghost lady' was out of the pond and walking around outside somewhere. Also... the nanny gal feel asleep in the car ride there, so technically, she could be anywhere - maybe not in the town that she thinks she is. Just some theories...
This season is based on The Turn of the Screw, The Jolley Corner, and The Romance Of Curtain Old Clothes. By Henry James. The Hunting Of Hill House was based on the book by Shirely Jackson. The season was great. Glad you chose to watch it with a fresh pair of eyes without knowing anything yet.
So this is based on the same story as the turning! Based on a novel called the turn of the screw with other books of the same author written in. I just finished the season today! Was great!
@@CarlyNicole1 Yes, and there is a classic masterpiece movie adaptation of Henry James's "The Turn of the Screw" from 1961 called "The Innocents". The director of that film was Jack Clayton and the lead character in this season is named "Dani Clayton". : ) This is just like "The Haunting of Hill House", which also was preceded by a classic masterpiece film adaptation of Shirley Jackson's novel in the 1963 film "The Haunting". The creator/writer/director of these two seasons, Mike Flanagan, is a huge fan of those film adaptations and has basically created these loose "riffs" on and expansions of those works, resulting in two wonderful seasons. In the case of "Hill House" he had said before the job that he couldn't possibly improve on the original 1963 adaptation so he would use it as a spring board and create his own stories inspired by it. He's done both works extremely proud, I think.
I spend an unreasonable amount of time just looking at the background for ghosts on the Haunting shows. I also have only seen one episode and have so many theories, but it feels silly to say because people will just assume you've watched ahead when it's Netflix, but one I will say is that I think the kids are more of a protective force than the evil little shits they act like. Anyway, very happy you're doing this series, should be a journey.
Flora literally told Dani not to go of her room at night... And what does she do-- go out of her room at night. Dani just doesnt listen lol. Flora is SUCH an adorable little cutie pie but equally creepy lol. Im so glad I found your channel. I wish I could have seen your reactions to the haunting of hill house.
"Feel like hes a old men in a young kids body" literally called it from the get go lmao

henry james is a great author, known for his classic novels like ambassadors, portrait of a lady, wings of the dove, etc etc ( last tow have very good movie adaptation) . as well as as lots of other novels, novellas, and short stories .only a few are "horror" stories if we can call them that.
Funny how you mentioned The Turning, since both that movie and this show are based on the same novella: The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. Bly Manor ties in a lot of other Henry James stories and also incorporates some elements from The Innocents, which is a well known 1960s adaptation of the novella. But yeah, in essence Bly Manor and The Turning have the same story. Bly Manor just tells it A LOT better ;).
I get home from work and what do I find? What a pleasant surprise! I enjoyed the new season so much, really looking forward to this. Also, The Haunting of Hill House was written by Shirley Jackson in 1959, she's a fantastic writer, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
The Haunting of Hill House was written by Shirley Jackson (the novel). This series is based on "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. "the Turning" is also based on the same novel.
I like this series, but not as much as "hill house", that one was a masterpiece, a 10/10. this is a 9/10. Most of the characters are cool, but Dani is my favorite, I love her attitude and personality, and she's gorgeous too!. I love her outfit and her hair during the job interview, she looks amazing. then the bald housekeeper lady is another favorite character, she's great. the kids are a bit annoying! hahaha.
Bly is based on "Turn of the Screw" from 1898. A little confusing story in Victorian horror. Hill House is a 1959 gothic horror novel that kind of laid the ground work for modern horror stories. I have seen the first 2 episodes of Bly and I love how they made the returning actors almost exact opposites of the way they were in Hill House
I feel that the little girl is the evil one. She knows where all the ghost are in the house (dolls). And she can control the evil spirits in the house. I think the little boy is the Teachers protector. He knows when his sister is pissed off so he can calm her down/ keep the people around her safe,.
The doll is the lady in the lake. When she isn’t under the dresser it means she is roaming the grounds. They locked Dani in the closet *lmao* so that she wouldn’t get taken. The dolls move in the doll house with where the people are relative in the actual house, so with the lady in the lake having moved from under the dresser they are protecting Dani from her.
The book this season is based off of, The Turn of the Screw, begins with friends telling scary stories to one another. A man tells the story of a young governess and the children she cared for at Bly Manor. He had nothing to do with the story, it was just a story he had heard from another friend. I’m assuming it is the same as the storyteller Gugino is playing, though Flanagan may divert from the book and tie her in somehow. He’s following the book decently at this point, however.
That's what I thought as well, but I feel it would be more satisfying if she ended up being someone connected to the story. Also, they clearly establish that the framing story is set in 2007, so why would Flanagan choose that date if the narrator wasnt someone who was there in 1987, when the main story is set?
I think each season is meant to be stand-alone; no overlap of characters, but using many from the same stock of performers, similar to AHS. You missed the ghost with the hat hiding behind the door! I wonder if there were more. I think this series will have lots of hidden ghosts, just like Hill House. I also think many of the dolls in the dollhouse represent ghosts. Looking forward to more episodes! Off to watch E2.
You said that it reminded you of the turning. I think it’s based on the same book, the children are called Miles and Flora and it’s basically the same (they just chose to cast an older actor for Miles in the turning.
Carly, I agree with you on the accent thing. I’m American and I’ve lived in England for 10 years, and my accent hasn’t changed one bit. Although my youngest daughter has completely lost her American accent just this year, which is really strange. So I think if you’re young, you can lose it, but if your older, you won’t.
I'm from India. Some of my classmates went to America or Canada to study after school and now after 7 years some of them have a little bit of American accent even when they speak Hindi.
Are you gonna watch Hill too? I would love to see your reactions. BTW this is kind of a Lucifer spoiler but I didn't know your girlfriend name is Aurora. That's gonna be imporatant later in Lucifer.😉
Great!! You missed a lot of ghost standing in the shadows! In the back! Look real close on rest of episodes..they was somebody standing in the field at the end lol behind the tree in the fog
I think its good you went in without watching the teaser or the trailer. Not they really gave much away but still going in blind is good. I couldn't help myself and didnt do that lol.
A LIGHT PIECE OF SPOILER AHEAD: The first is mainly about family, the second, about romantic love. I think it's very, very curious that lots of people think the second one is the saddest, while I think it's the first. Both great shows, but I'd give a 7 to Bly and a 9 to Hill, cause I think dialogues are better and that episode that seems filmed in just one shot! What was that? Amazing!
WHen i first watch the few episodes I didn't quite catch the children's esp mile's behavior that he become adult-like i just thought they were creepy and just very 'british' but boy I was wrong when its all been revealed why they act like this
Carly hey just wanna say that this is kinda the same story with the turning causes it's miles and Flora from the movie and jessel and Peter quint. But it's not the same name for the lead character cause she lost her mind in the turning.
I think they should have named the series the haunting then named each season a different house like season 1 be named the hill house then season two the bly manor. instead of doing only one season then making a whole different show about the same thing.
I'm not sure why they chose to have henry thomas with an English accent, because as someone who is english,it is not great.a bit like Keanu Reeves in Dracula. There seems to be a dreadful lack of scares in what's meant to be a horror show.
This season is supposed to be more gothic/romance as it’s based off a book with those themes. Confusing for some when the first season was straight scary as shit but I loved this season as much if not better
Literally "in the closet" panic attack. That's what I got from that scene in hindsight. I'm presently revisiting your Bly Manor reactions and loving every moment.
Perfectly splendid!
I got the feeling the kids were scared for her and that's why they locked her in the closet like something might hurt her for kicking the doll. Great reaction guys hope you keep doing this together.
I got that vibe too!
@Never Perfect Im not joking, I got horrible goosebumps then thinking that meant she was out of the lake and I hate that.
They were protecting her from the lady in the lake.
Well sorta; it wasn’t bc Dani kicked the doll, it’s bc the lady in the lake was on the way to the house
I love how long the discussion was!!! Awesome video. Will definitely keep watching these.
You right
I think the dolls represent the spirits in the house. The kids locked her in the closet to protect her from whatever the doll she kicked represents.
I heard “I’m here with my girlfriend” and insta subbed lmao
Didn't know u were lesbian that makes me so happy!
Also The Beast In The Jungle (the last episode!)
I think each and every episode was incorporating some aspect of a Henry James story.
So this is based on the same story as the turning! Based on a novel called the turn of the screw with other books of the same author written in. I just finished the season today! Was great!
Oh wow I had no idea, that’s pretty cool. I can’t wait to finish this season!

Duggs I did the exact same thing when I started it, same as many I expect 😅 it’s one of the best parts of watching these shows for sure!
Well headlight head was defintiely up front and personal. Nothing subtle about that one.
Flora literally told Dani not to go of her room at night... And what does she do-- go out of her room at night. Dani just doesnt listen lol. you trying to figure out who the narrator is is hilarious! can't wait for you two to figure it out!
'She's gonna master her cup of tea right now?' 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm a few episodes in so far and LOVING it. Looking forward to these reactions!
Dude just found you guys account. Loved the reaction, hope to see more vids soon🙏🏾
It's 2am, and I just finished watching Bly Manor, and I am very emotional so this is what I will watch instead of sleeping :)))
I'm loving the atmosphere so far, I didn't expected to be as good as S01, but it's still better than any other horror show right now.
I get home from work and what do I find? What a pleasant surprise! I enjoyed the new season so much, really looking forward to this. Also, The Haunting of Hill House was written by Shirley Jackson in 1959, she's a fantastic writer, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
“Bly Manor”, “Rose Red” and “Hill House” are all intertwined…can’t believe people don’t see that.
The Haunting of Hill House was written by Shirley Jackson (the novel). This series is based on "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. "the Turning" is also based on the same novel.
I'm a new sub and u guys are perfectly splendid 🥰

@@alyssaweaver202 yeah, I've also finished the show since my comment. I actually really like what they did with the narrator.
You both seem prefectly splendid 😍😜

Why doesn't Mrs. Grose eat? That's an unusual mystery...
That movie you talked about, "The Turning" is based on the book "The Turnof the Screw" which is what this season is loosely based on.
I will follow your reaction video for the rest of the episodes. Im excited for you guys. Enjoy! 🙂 and me, Subscribed!
This one's better than Hill House in my opinion. : )
ok I`m just here to say that carly is using such a pretty sweatshirt
You said that it reminded you of the turning. I think it’s based on the same book, the children are called Miles and Flora and it’s basically the same (they just chose to cast an older actor for Miles in the turning.
You're correct! Both are based on the novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
I feel it's definitely possible to develop a new accent or some weird mix of two, it probably just depends on the person.
Just wondering how do you make reactions without getting copyright blocked?
Lots and lots of jumpcuts, and we talk whenever we can. It’s super difficult but I always refute my copyright claims and win
And the wedding is not in Bly manor it’s in Southern California
Northern CA

Filming them tomorrow! Should be out by Tuesday/Wednesday
The turning happened in bly manor
